A retrospective of actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor will be the highlight of this year’s River To River, the film festival that has been fuelling the love of Indian cinema in Italy. Selvaggia Velo, the 35-year-old founder director of River To River, said “Awara”, “Shri 420″ and “Bobby” will be screened here to honour one of Indian cinema’s greatest independent film personalities. “India and Italy have so much in common. The Bollywood sirens seen dancing were Amrita Arora, Sameera Reddy, Samita Shetty and Diya Mirza. Salman Khan took the stage there after. Salman Khan has always been a good crowd puller. He had the audience swaying as he performed to songs from his forthcoming TV Show Dus ka Dam. The alliance between Bollywood and cricket seems to be blooming in full. In many ways, Sunday night's final of the Indian Premier League (IPL), cricket's most expensive and hyped carnival, mirrored vintage Bollywood fare. The Indian film fraternity is yet to be convinced about banning scenes showing tobacco consumption. Filmmakers continue to express concern over Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss’ incessant furore over onscreen smoking the minister has been hitting out at the biggest of Bollywood bigwigs like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan on the issue. Many feel such a ban will curb their creativity and that the government must seek other measures to dissuade people even though, according to some estimates, around 14% of students in India consume tobacco. ‘Heyy Babyy’ director Sajid Khan told: “I strongly oppose any ban that restricts freedom - do you really think people smoke because film stars smoke on screen and that people drink because we are shown drinking in films? Till the shooting for Jannat started I did not have the remotest idea that I will take up acting. I was into part time modelling and wanted to become a journalist. Shahid-Vidya stories are False

Shahid Kapoor is a thorough professional and will not let anything come between him and his work. Not even lousy stories that are circulated in print. The actor, however, wishes to clarify his stand on a story printed in a tabloid recently. It said that how Vidya (Balan) and Shahid had gone out for lunch and did not return for over three hours bringing the shooting of Ken Ghosh's new untitled film produced by UTV to a standstill. But a close friend of Shahid's clarified that, "while that Vidya his co star from Kismat Konnection and a very dear friend had dropped in to say hi after which they proceeded to catch a quick lunch during the lunch time which lasted for 45 mins. And that as a professional Shahid would never hold up work for hours on end just to have lunch with a friend, the story is untrue".
