Christopher Walken: What I've Learned
2009-06-02 03:11:00
years ago, I was walking out a door — I'd been having a conversation and I was walking out the door, and this guy said to me, "Chris," and I stopped and I turned, and he said, "Be careful." And I never forgot that. And it comes back to me often: Be careful. That was good advice. Via: Christopher Walken : What I've Learned Read More
Teo Jasmin Printed Furnishings
2009-06-02 02:09:00
Teo Jasmin are a Parisian company that specialise in digital printing on canvas, cushions and furniture. When you think “French”, the word chic automatically springs to mind, but now you can add “kitsch” to the list. With images ranging from iconic film stars and city scapes through to the quintessentially British, their fabulous prints really make for some eye catching, tongue-in-cheek furnishings. I particularly love the “Doggy Queen” from their 2009 collection. I was going to say that’s because I am the doggy queen, but at the risk of inviting innuendo style misinterpretations, I will elaborate that to “I like the doggy queen prints as the puppy pictured reminds me very much of my own pug-faced pooch!”For more information and to view the full product range visit Teo Jasmin Read More

"The Link" Premiers May 25th On The History Channel
2009-05-20 13:48:00
"History Channel , together with the University of Oslo and the Senckenberg Research Institute, yesterday revealed a landmark scientific find: the 47 million year old fossilized remains of a primate. The most complete fossil primate ever found, the young female specimen -- known as "Ida" -- is set to revolutionize our understanding of human evolution. Twenty times older than most fossils that explain human evolution, "Ida" is a transitional species showing characteristics from the very primitive non-human evolutionary line (prosimians, such as lemurs), but she is more related to the human evolutionary line (anthropoids, such as monkeys, apes and humans). This places Ida at the very root of anthropoid evolution -- when primates were first developing the features that would evolve into our own. The scientists' findings are published today by PLoS One, the open source journal of the Public Library of Science."Find out more at the History Channel websit...

Sherlock Holmes - Trailer
2009-05-19 13:39:00
First trailer for Guy Ritchie's take on the classic detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The film simply titled Sherlock Holmes is due for a boxing day release. This adaption see's the titular hero revamped in a vain similar to the The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Sadly the film version and not Alan Moore's fantastic comic. The reactions across the net for this trailer have been very positive. I personally don't feel that excited, sure Basil Rathbone style fog and deerstalkers has been done to death and would not fly today. However I'm a bit surprised Richie and the screenwriters have taken it to such safe blockbuster action comedy ground. One would have hoped for a little touch of snatch / Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels infused to give it just a little more edge. After all Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell are meant to be taking on the roles of Holmes and Watson in a still "Untitled Sherlock Holmes Project", which one imagines ...

Precious - Poster
2009-05-18 19:51:00
Teaser poster for Precious the tale of an overweight, illiterate teen who is pregnant with her second child is invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction. The film is based on the book by Sapphire (born Ramona Lofton) and directed by Lee Daniels.I love this poster, the trailer however leaves me cold. I just can't be doing with the "woman has problems, woman gets over problems" genre. However the reviews have been great and it was a hit at Sundance, which has thrown up some great films over the years. So maybe I will like it when I get around to seeing it, if I can just shake the creepy Dr Phil / Oprah "believe in yourself" vibe the whole thing has. Still triumph over adversity is central to much of our literature and some will argue most of our waking lives, so I can see why it appeals to many. Check the trailer out for yourself over at our Virb page. Precious stars Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, Paula Patton,...

Marmalade Ho
2009-05-18 00:14:00
I discovered Marmalade Ho by complete accident (thanks to a typo and Google), but I’m glad my atrocious spelling led me to perhaps the cutest thing in fashion I have ever seen.Who could not fall in love with the Helix Cat and Runny Mouse prints? And Bunny Bang Bang, well that’s just genius. Even more bizarre than these adorable prints, is perhaps the story behind how they came about. Click on “What Ever Happened to Marmelade Ho?” and you get the story of a “deceptively cute looking girl living in a place called Clone town. She’s a creative individual in a dull town full of chain shops which are full of the same mass produced rubbish.” The story goes on to explain how she fell into her drawings and met Iik- iik, Mii-ow and Bunny Bang Bang. It’s all utterly bizarre, adorably imaginative and wonderfully kitsch– well worth checking out.www.marmalade-ho.co.uk   Read More tags: marmalade ho

Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and, when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing: just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food--and each other."Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortensen, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall and Garret Dillahunt star.
