Is Insurance Evil?
2007-11-14 01:33:00
I seriously had that doubt. Though nothing special happened, I now acknowledge the importance of insurance. I even looked for a way to avoid buying insurance for my bike, but the legal system is such that I just can't avoid insurance of some type (LOL). Though I am not involved in any traffic incidence, I think the legal necessity of insurance is a good thing. In fact, I am not good at comparing insurance or am knowledgeable about how to save money on insurance. I didn't really use any insurance quoting services, but went for the cheapest premium possible.Insurance also is different thing at different places. In India, it is a more of a security net, while in the US, you can leverage insurance as an investment too. Why can't you get both in one plan? I can't help asking. This post is brought to you by AdvantageTermLife.com, an insurance rate quote service that offers family insurance and all types of policies across United States.

Pocket-Friendly Credit Cards
2007-11-11 09:28:00
What is your idea of pocket friendly credit cards? Does interest free credit cards fit the bill? I thought so.If the credit cards come with free balance transfers, you feel you can't ask for more.Unlike in the past, I now fully approve the use of credit cards. No, no. I'm not hired by any credit card company. In fact, I now acknowledge the benefits of a credit card. For me, now paying using credit cards is the easiest method to keep track of my expenses. It not only allows you to cut unwanted costs, but also allows quick filing of tax returns.I am also a big fan of the rewards points and cash back offers of credit cards. I am not a big fan of prepaid credit cards, mainly because I look for some returns, when I put my money somewhere. My savings cum checking account gives me 5% APR for the money I have in my account.Though it is lesser than 0.5% return per month, I like to keep the money in that account instead of credit card account, as no credit card in this country offers any in...

Why on Earth Do Girls Blog?
2007-11-11 03:42:00
I thought it would be a wonderful thing to find an answer. The most obvious answer was 'money'. I thought everyone liked to make money blogging. Was I wrong? Yes!I looked not just into girlie blogs, but also of guys and ladies too. I first come across the tail of a long girl blog ME-ME, at Life's What We Make of It, where you can see a long list of reasons why girls blog. Though links to other blogs are not available, the overdose of 'philosophy', 'spreading literature instincts', 'feeling nice' and 'making others happy' are more than visible. Strangely, moneymaking is not a priority for more than 20 bloggers.Do you feel surprised if a blogger named Jay Westerdal has started blogging in an effort to bring in transparency to domain industry? How can you know the whereabouts of domain landlords, if there is no transparency in bidding for domains? I feel it a legit reason to blog.Goofy Andie () says she gets more focused when she blogs.Needless to say blogging is the high...

Difference between Good & Bad Loans
2007-11-11 03:31:00
One simple factor differentiates good loan from bad ones. The product on which you have spent the money makes the difference. If you have bought something that appreciates over the loan tenure, it is a good loan. If it is something that depreciates over three to ten years, it definitely is a bad loan.Ordinary people need to take loans of both types. When you are buying residential or commercial property with a mortgage loan, it is a good loan, provided you buy the property at the right price and not at an inflated rate. When buying a brand new BMW, its value depreciates the moment you drive out of the showroom. As such, a vehicle loan is a bad loan, but most times, we cannot afford not to take a vehicle loan.Even with mortgages, there can be cheap mortgages or costly ones. It can be a bit difficult to find bad credit remortgages, but it will be easier with a good credit score. When looking to take a loan, ask this simple question – if the value goes up or down over the next one yea...

Double Standards are OK: Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds Think So
2007-10-26 01:53:00
Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds think aggressiveness is reserved for Australians only. They think sledging and name calling are their own assets. They think their relentless gibberish on the field can't be repeated by another team. But keep in mind that no one is above any other one. You receive from the world what you send out. It is the rule of Karma. They thought so for so long, till a Ganguly, a Harbhajan and a Sreesanth pricked their ego. Ponting says aggressiveness is part of Australian behavior. When Sreesanth or Harbhajan behaves in the same way, it is unnatural and odd – going by the words of Australian cricketers. These words are only futile mind control exercises by the Australians, except they are not going to work this time.Read it closely – Australians take pride in mentally tiring opposing teams. It is only natural for them to do so. When someone replies them in the same way, it is unnatural and odd.Though I don't like the treatment Andrew Symonds got from some spe...

No More Ditching Shopping Cart
2007-10-24 02:12:00
There are many reasons why your customers ditch their shopping cart, after filling it with the fancy items you have to offer. One reason can be attributed lack of user friendliness of using the shopping cart - like slow loading times. If you have the right kind of scripts running on your server and has a clean, friendly design, you can, in most cases close the sale. There is no point in leaving your customers empty handed, after you have taken the trouble to attract them to your online store and they taking the time to browse your catalog and actually filling their shopping cart. The right kind of shopping cart software can be one thing you will be looking for. Expect a clean interface and simple background tweaking. This Post is sponsored by AShopCommerce.com

Link Back and Attract More Contesters
2007-10-24 02:08:00
Do you have a blog contest running? Why not reward everyone with a link back to all? Believe me; I enter all contests that I come across, that have a link back offer, regardless of the advertised prize. So will be many other contesters. I too like my technorati.com ranking going up, and possibly the number of subscribers too.If you host a contest with prizes less than $ 50, a free link back offer is the best bet of making your blog contest successful. If you don't give that option, only one blogger can win the prize. With a link-back, everyone is a winner. Even if they don't win the grand prize, they still are a winner.I have very little time online blogging, sending emails, etc and everything of it happens between 5 and 7 in the morning. The new way I find new cool blogs and bloggers is via the contests. It is not just the contest host, but also the entrants. I click to the links in the comments, to reach the contestants' blogs.By linking back to the contestants, you are also add...

When Monkey Traders Rule Stock Markets
2007-10-21 16:26:00
Trading is monkey business. When closely following the stock market fluctuations, you can always tell it. BSE SENSEX first hit record 19,000 plus levels in the first weeks of October, only to make way to the biggest crash in the history of Indian stock exchanges.I quickly remember a story I've first from somewhere in the www and then again in a Malayalam newspaper. Please bear with me, if the exact figures are a bit different from the original story. Well the story was something like:People of this particular farmer village in north India lead a happy life. There was a small forest nearby and you could find monkeys everywhere in the village. One day, a merchant from the city reached the village. He asked the villagers to sell him monkeys and he set the price Rs.10 per monkey. People were quickly on toes catching monkeys and soon the merchant got a few thousand monkeys. And he returned to the city. The merchant comes back a few days later, again promised to buy monkeys, this time at a...

Congratulate Team India on Tsunami Early Warning System
2007-10-16 01:45:00
India now has its own Tsunami early warning system, which could also the fastest in the world. Congratulations team India. The scientists at Tsunami Early Warning Center at Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad have developed and put in place India's own tsunami early warning system. This feat is achieved in just three years after Indian coast has been lashed by a Tsunami on December 24, 2004, following a massive earthquake off Indonesian coast.Never seen such a natural phenomenon before, India remained shocked and stunned even as tsunami sucked away thousands of lives in a blitzkrieg. An early warning system could have saved at least a few thousand lives.Japan and America had tsunami early warning systems and their warning system centers knew tsunami would strike, at least two hours before it reached the coasts of India. There was no 'tsunami information sharing' agreements with India.Since then, voice has been raised for a tsunami warning syst...

Copyright Protected Jasmine and Some Link Love
2007-10-07 12:39:00
First off my belated link love return to Karthik Kiran of Philipino Bloggers for his linking to me.OK, a few of my classmates at Institute of Journalism have started blogging (at last).Aasish, thinks he is a thonnivasi, but is actually a nice guy and talks about a lot of things including godly things(sorry to english language readers, his blog is totally Malayalam).Jacob Abraham, who started off as a short story writer and poet, stepped in to the Institute of journalism, as an already published (established) young writer. His blog is in English (he has strong language skills in Malayalam poetry and short story writing). See what he says about paying guests. The next one is a poetry blog by Jasmine (from outside my network of acquaintances), but I can't help taking a dig at her approach to blogging. She says she loves her mommy more than anyone else, fumes at White Washed Tombs and talks about Karma of which I think she has no faith in.Just look at the title and description of her b...
