9th Annual Philadelphia American Heart Walk
2007-09-27 20:58:00
American Heart Walk Originally Photo uploaded by bamba413 Well I been doing the American Heart Walk for about 6 years now and it always been at the same spot every year; Fairmount Park- Memorial Hall. However, this year it was held at the Citizens Bank Park in South Philly. Let's just say at first I wasn't happy with the new location; however by the end of the walk I was kind of feeling the new location.I got a chance to walk around and inside the stadium. Instead of portable potties, I got the chance to use a real bathroom and wash my hands properly. Great giveaway and the Philly Fanatic was there cheering everyone on. It turned out to be a really nice day.http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPhilade lphia

Franklin Fountain
2007-09-21 20:58:00
You know how we always complain about things are not what they use to be. For example McDonalds fish filet sandwich just don?t taste the same as when I was young child. (I am serious it doesn?t?)Well take a trip to Franklin Fountain Ice Cream Saloon and step back in time. Located 116 Market Street (Old City) Franklin Fountain décor is of the early 20th-century soda shop with its original marble counters and mosaic floors. This is a time when people actually dressed up for work.To learn more about Franklin Fountain and its owners the Berley Brothers go to http://www.franklinfountain.com/ http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPhiladelphi a

Robin Museum
2007-08-29 21:42:00
While riding my bike on Kelly Drive I came across this charming building and realize it was a Museum .Now keep in mind; I probably past this building several times, but it wasn't until last month that I actually stop and check the place out. What I am talking about is the Robin Museum located on 22nd at Benjamin Franklin Parkway. It?s free or a contribution of $3 per person is suggested, which is well worth the visit.Free guided tours of the Rodin Museum are given to the public at 1:00 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and on the first and third Saturdays of the month. All the sculptures in the museum were created by Auguste Rodin (French, 1840?1917). Most famous as a sculptor, he was the preeminent French sculptor of his time, and remains one of the few sculptors widely recognized outside the visual arts community. His scultpors brought out realsim of his subjects. Truly brilliant. What a treat.HoursTuesday through Sunday: 10:00 a.m.?5:00 p.m.For more informationhttp://www.rod...

Whitewater Rafting
2007-07-23 18:46:00
Often I like a change in pace, especially during the summer. This past weekend I was asked to join a group to go whitewater rafting up in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. There are several places to go whitewater rafting, but our group decided on Whitewater Rafting Adventures on the Lehigh River. Whitewater Rafting Adventures is a small family owned and operated outfit. Located right off of Route 93 it?s about 1 hour and half from Philadelphia. The staff and guides were very friendly and helpful and the price includes a free hot dog cookout at the end of your day (still bring a lunch). I had a fantastic time and I came back in one piece. If you decide to go keep in mind that the Whitewater Dam releases through the Lehigh River are scheduled for every other weekend beginning May 13th up to and including September 30th. There are three levels of rafting on the Lehigh River, so there is something for everyone. They also offer biking, kayaking and paintball.Visit their website to vie...
Greg Kinnear in Philly
2007-07-22 21:17:00
Did you know that Greg Kinnear was here in Philly filming some scenes for the new film called Baby Mama on Wednesday, July 18th at the Art Museum? I found this out, while I was jogging on Kelly Drive. Once I spotted Greg Kinnear , I ran back to my car to garb my camera. Unfortunately for me once I got back Greg was gone, the extras were loaded the bus and the crew were packing up. I was able to capture some it....sorry no pictures of Greg. The cop standing guard had no idea what they were filming, so I later had to email the folks at the Greater Philadelphia Film Office (thanks Nicole) and ask for some info.Baby Mama is schedule to come out next year. It stars Tina Fey and mostly shot in NYC, but they did a day or so here. That?s why it really pays to have your camera on you all the time in Philly. You just don't know who you may bump into.http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPhilad elphia
What Fireworks!!
2007-07-20 18:37:00
Well yes, on the 4th of July, I was one of those thousands of people on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway listening to Hall and Oats (by the way I love Hall & Oats) and waiting to see the firework in the RAIN. And despite what you may have heard we were told that the Firework Show was cancel due to bad weather. Hell, I didn?t find out till the next day that they went ahead with the fireworks hour after the concert. I felt cheated, hood winked, bamboozle??well maybe I am stretching it bit, but I do feel that someone need to own up to the total lack of communication between those coordinating the events and the spectators.Hopefully, official will learn from this experience and devise a better action plan for future outdoor events.Well, I can say one thing; Hall & Oats did not let their fans down. They bellowed worth wild performance, even in the rain.http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPhilad elphia

Is Philadelphia really dirtier than New Orleans?
2007-07-18 21:40:00
I know you all heard the comment the mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans made a couple weeks ago about Philadelphia being dirtier than New Orleans. Well if you haven?t, below is his exact quote fromNagin: 'Intended no disrespect' about PhiladelphiaPosted by The Times-Picayune April 23, 2007 3:57PM"After apologizing Sunday to Philadelphia Mayor John Street for saying his is a dirtier city than New Orleans, Mayor Ray Nagin said Monday that the comment is not a "major issue" and will not hurt his relationship with leaders in the City of Brotherly Love. The assertion came in response to reporters' questions about a remark Nagin made Saturday after he returned from a trip to Philadelphia to learn about the city's anti-blight initiatives."You ought to go to Philly and you will appreciate how clean New Orleans is," Nagin said Saturday during a town hall-style meeting in eastern New Orleans. "Just go and walk around Philly a little bit and you will appreciate. ... We still have some work to d...

Philadelphia Zoo
2007-05-15 19:02:00
It wouldn't be Spring without a day at the Zoo. Spring is best time, because it?s the time when all the animals want to show off their babies. Unfortunately when we went to the Zoo couple weeks ago I wasn?t able to catch any newborns on camera. My best advice to you is to go early. We got there around 3pm; the Zoo closes at 5:30pm, so I think it was nap time for a lot of the animals there, but I was able to catch a few friendly faces.http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPhil a delphia
