Corn
2007-05-02 05:37:00 Sweet corn from Cameron HighlandsPearl Corn distinguishable by the white kernelsI like sweet corn. I like it better, dripping with butter.I remember when my Dad used to go deep sea fishing, they'd have to pass through this small town en route, and that's where they'd buy a whole gunny sack of corn to eat on the boat and to bring some home for us. At home, mom usually boils the corn in salted water but when we do get a chance to go fishing with Dad, they would use sea water! The corn tasted sweet, and naturally salty. Then we'd observe the different ways people eat corn! I usually eat round it but my sister does it, typewriter style - one row at a time all the way to the other end! More About: Snacks
Apple Assam Boi
2007-04-29 03:37:00 My new favorite drink. Apple juice with assam boi (preserved plums). Adds a kick to your drink and when served very cold, is a great thirst quencher. More About: Drinks , Assam
Paddington House of Pancakes
2007-04-27 10:19:00 I love pancakes, crepes, and waffles. Savory or sweet. Cold or hot. So lunch today at Padding ton House of Pancakes was fulfilling, in many sense of the word. And having it by myself was even more enjoyable - not that I don't want to share but spending time alone, once in a while can be nice.I had a savory pancake with mushrooms, mozzarella, and lemon topped with sour cream. It was a huge pancake and anything cheesy fills me up quite quickly so I couldn't finish. I ordered a hot mocha but made a mistake of letting them serve it with the food because by the time I was done, it had gone cold. And it didn't help that they had most of the ceiling fans on full speed in an air-conditioned place! So you can guess how fast the mozzarella congealed. The food, I feel, is pricey so I won't be eating there regularly - only when I have cravings for pancakes! More About: Ouse
Natto
2007-04-26 14:26:00 I discovered a love for natto. I bought some over the weekend. They come in a pack of 3 and cost me RM4.90. The instructions says to keep them frozen so I was wondering how to serve it. My cousin taught me, as she is also a fan.I only had to defrost it a few hours before serving. Add the mustard and soya sauce and mix well. Eating it with rice is nice. Taking too much a mouthful can leave a bitter taste in your mouth so don't be greedy. It really is an acquired taste! Lai Foong Coffeeshop
2007-04-25 07:40:00 Nice new looking signboardThe Street where the Coffeeshop is locatedLai Foong Beef NoodlesSince 1956I remember eating there when I was very young. Mom would take me on the notorius mini buses into the city so that she could shop for foodstuff at Petaling Street (Chinatown) and we would always have lunch at Lai Foong. When I started my chambering, or pupillage to be admitted to the Bar, my office was situated in the building next to Lai Foong. I remember countless bowls of beef noodles during that 9-month period. It has been quite a few years since I've eaten there. Lai Foong has expanded to take over a coffeeshop next door. I remember that the coffeeshop next door served one of the best wanton noodles. The secret ingredient in their wanton seems to be minced anchovies. I couldn't tell if the same stall is still operating.I like dry hor fun noodlesAah...beef meatballs, delicious beef soup withlots of chines parsley and salted vegetables, and pieces of sinful lard! There is always this... We were headed for a restaurant called Flammin at Plaza Damas but found that it has closed down so we went to Sao Nam at Hartamas Shopping Center. We've eaten at their branch at Tengkat Tong Shin and I love the food there. David doesn't! Not because the food is no good but he thinks the servings are too small and the food, too pricey.I, on the other hand, like it that the food flavor is exquisite. At Hartamas, the menu is different but we found out that the servings were just as small and we still think that it is pricey. The only thing we could all agree upon, was that the food was good. And I couldn't help but stare at what, this couple were eating, a few tables aw... More About: Restaurants 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
