Booking Your TradeShow in Las Vegas
2008-03-25 18:25:00
Not long ago, I wrote a post about switching up trade show venues to help spice up long-running trade shows. I personally think that there are not many places more exciting than Las Vegas when it comes to conventions and trade shows so I decided to dedicate this post to Las Vegas. There are so many venues to choose from and there is so much going on in Las Vegas, regardless of season or interest, It is no wonder it is the top pick for so many meeting and convention planners.A great resource when planning a Las Vegas trade show or convention is the Only Vegas website. This site will definitely help you choose a venue, choose accommodations, and even provide you with a Las Vegas meeting planning and promotion toolkit. If you are planning an exciting Las Vegas Trade show this year, I would highly recommend this site. And don?t forget to book your tradeshow equipment and laptop rentals early - Las Vegas moves quickly!

Exhibitor Inspiration
2008-03-20 14:34:00
For many trade show exhibiting veterans, searching for new and exiting tradeshow booth themes can be exhausting. After several years in the business, it can seem like you have done it all.If you do happen to feel like you are running out of ideas and inspiration, I would like to suggest attending a few non-corporate tradeshows in your area. wine and cheeses events, art shows, and pet expos can all offer some unique and interesting booth ideas and plans. Pay special attention to what computer equipment rentals are being utilized, you might be surprised at how much technology can spice up a trade show booth or potentially dull corporate event.Next time you have a day or weekend off, check out an expo or event in your area, not only will you be giving yourself the opportunity to ?be inspired?, you will also likely have a lot of fun.

Corporate Computer Rentals: Spread the Word!
2008-03-18 21:07:00
There are many business people out there who are aware of corporate computer rentals. Yet for ever two people who know about the convenience that are associated with renting computer equipment, it seems like there are another two who have never heard of the service. It sort of reminds me of that old Paula Abdul song with MC Scat Cat ? ?Two steps forward and two steps back..!? (I think I just dated myself a little!)With both short and long term availability, inexpensive rates, and high-end technology, corporate computer rentals solve a lot of problems for many people. Computer equipment rental clients range from trade show exhibitors, to international travelers, to corporate classroom organizers and attendees. If you are one of the many who know about, and take advantage of, corporate computer rentals, spread the word, tell your friends! There are enough computer equipment rentals to go around, I make sure of it.

Spruce Up Your Trade Show Booth Now
2008-03-14 18:37:00
On Monday, I talked about how trade show organizers sometimes need to spruce up a long running event by changing venues. Obviously, the venue is a little bit beyond the control of the exhibitors, though. If you are an exhibitor who has noticed some of your usual tradeshows are getting a bit stale, you pretty much have jus two options. The first is to stop exhibiting at the boring trade show and the second option is to try to make your booth as interesting as possible. There are a several ways to enhance the interest and appeal of your booth. You can take advantage of laptop rentals and offer free internet access, you can try varying themes that people might find exiting, or you can put a giant LCD projector in your booth with stunning visual graphics.Regardless of how you spruce up your booth, you should always keep your target market in mind. For example, it might not be in your best interest to hire Vegas style show girls if your main customer base lives in the Bible Belt. Also, may...

When Old Trade Shows Need a New Life
2008-03-10 17:29:00
I notice that most tradeshow organizers will pick a venue and stick with their choice throughout the years. I understand that this simplifies the process and also may promote the success of an annual trade show. I know that, after working out and perfecting all of the details with a particular venue, it might not be the wisest decision to move your show to a new event simply because you want to shake things up.With that said, sometimes I think trade shows need to be shaken up. The same old exhibitors, entertainment, and venue can get old after a few years of mandatory attendance. If you are nervous that your tradeshow is getting stale, I suggest trying alternatives before picking a new venue. Spice up the visuals by taking advantage of corporate computer rentals and projector rentals, liven up the entertainment, market to a new group of exhibitors, and offer door prizes. If all else fails, however, I am sure a lot of people would love to attend a trade show on a cruise ship!

Corporate Classrooms Have Come a Long Way, Baby
2008-03-08 00:42:00
It seems to be the season for corporate classrooms. There are so many of them going on right now that, if I am not careful, I am going to spend my entire yearly budget for these things in the first quarter! There used to be a time when corporate classrooms were not so fun. I know a lot of people reading this would probably make the argument that corporate classrooms, or corporate training sessions are still not so fun but believe me, they have come a long way! It used to be that, if you attended a corporate course, you would be staring at a lackluster speaker who is not actually formally trained as a speaker, he was simply roped into speaking by his employer. If you were lucky enough to be starting at a projector screen, chances were the corporate trainer was relying heavily on his slides or PowerPoint presentation. Now, however, corporate trainers tend to be career presenters. They love training us newbies and it shows. The trainers utilize top-notch corporate computer rentals as ai...

IAB Social Media Class
2008-03-04 19:46:00
Not long ago, I wrote about my experience at the IAB Intensive One-Day Course. As I mentioned in that entry, I found the one-day corporate learning session to be fast-paced and packed with valuable information. The PowerPoint presentation, an integral part of the class, was laid out clearly on their corporate projector rental. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone interested in Internet marketing (and who isn?t really?)..Now the Interactive Advertising Bureau is offering another one-day intensive course in Internet marketing. This one, however, is focused on social media, or Web 2.0. I am thinking that this would be a great follow up to the first class I took OR would work great on its own.I would like to attend the IAB Canada Intensive One-Day Course in Social Media Marketing and Web 2.0. It is coming to my area in March so I am hoping I can fit it in.

Long - Term Computer Rentals
2008-02-29 17:13:00
The focus of my entry today is long-term corporate computer rentals. That?s right, I said ?long-term?! So many people take advantage of short-term computer rentals for trade shows, corporate classrooms, or conventions, yet they simply do not realize that they can also book long-term computer rentals.Lon-term computer rentals are the perfect for business solution for people traveling for an extended period of time, or for a small business owner who needs to accommodate some seasonal/temp staff at the office. Long -term computer rentals are the perfect option to very many corporate problems, I need to get the word out!For a very little money, many different types of computer equipment, including computer monitor rentals or even dedicated server rentals, are available to business people both short and long-term. If you want more info about long-term corporate computer rentals (or short-term rentals, for that matter), click on the link I provided above!

ExhibitorOnline Website Review
2008-02-27 17:19:00
The focus of my last entry was on an article featured on ExhibitorOnline.com. After reading the article, however, I decided to peruse the rest of the site and, oh my gosh, there is a plethora of information on that site. With the exception of notebook rentals (we, of course are the experts in that area ;)), there was info on pretty much everything trade show exhibit related.I found information on exhibiting design, space selection, measuring performance, product presentations?even salary calculators!I particularly enjoyed the website?s Green Exhibiting page. There are a couple of PDF?s and online articles about the subject. Also on this page, you will find links to the green sessions that will be at Exhibitor 2008, the National Educational Conference for Trade Show and Event Marketers. If you have not been to this site yet, or even if you have, I think this site is definitely worth a visit or two.

When Good Exhibits Go Bad
2008-02-20 18:35:00
Everyone in the business knows that things can and will go wrong on the trade show floor. I came across an excellent article today entitled 10 Trade Show Disasters: How to Recover When Things Go Wrong on the Trade Show Floor. The top 10 List, as per the article is:Your exhibit doesn?t show up.Another exhibitor?s stuff is in your space.A forklift smashes your crate.Something spills on your carpet.Your graphic is missing or damaged. The electrical system under your exhibit is fried. An exhibit-staff person is missing. You get sick and can?t make it to the show.Contractors overcharge you.The GC forces your freight.Of course, if you want to know how to effectively deal with all of these potential disasters, you will have to read the article. It is at ExhibitorOnline.com. It is full of great advice for getting over these ten problems and getting on with the show!An important consnderation not mentioned in the article, though, is how terrible tacchnology problems can be. Save yourelf some str...

Corporate Classroom Session: Joy or Pain?
2008-02-19 01:18:00
If you have read any of my past entries, I am sure you are not surprised to hear that I am scheduled to attend a few corporate classroom sessions in the next couple of months. I am very excited about most of them but, without naming names, there are a just a couple that I am attending more because of obligation than desire.Corporate classrooms are intended to be fun and educational, but it is so easy for them to become dry and uninspiring. I always think it is such a shame to see a carefully planned event go down hill simply because of technical issues or tiny details that have been overlooked.I think that, when planning a corporate classroom session, it is important to book your space early, book your corporate computer rental equipment just as early, keep a checklist, and think of ways to keep your corporate classroom entertaining. I am not saying you have to hire a juggler or anything but, why not deviate from the PowerPoint every once in a while? Ooh, and have lots of coffee!

Book your BizBash Tradeshow Equipment Now
2008-02-15 17:20:00
As most event professionals in Canada know, BizBash 2008 is coming to the Direct Energy Centre this February, 20th. I just want to quickly remind everyone that Monday February 18th at 10 am is the deadline for online registration to BizBash 08. Also, if you use the code LCE during registration, you will receive 20% off the attendance price. That is an awesome deal for those of us who missed early bird registration. If you do happen to be exhibiting at this event, I would also like to remind you that there is still time to book your corporate computer rentals and other equipment such as LCD projector rentals. As you are probably aware, most exhibitors at BizBash are either corporate event professionals or party event planners; every year there are some awesome booths and entertainment at this event. Top of the line equipment will help you keep up with the Jones’, so to speak.

IAB Intensive One-Day Course
2008-02-12 23:08:00
As I mentioned in my last post, I attended the IAB Intensive One-Day Course yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was happy to see that a lot of the information, studies and statistic were as recent as 2007. With that said, this corporate learning session was very fast paced and information packed so I had to work very hard to keep my concentration from lagging at any point. The corporate classroom started at 8am and went until almost 5pm, a long day!The IAB?s corporate classroom in Toronto was completely sold out so, even though I arrived about 15 minutes early, I got stuck in the back row. I am glad they had a very large, top of the line projector rental and some extensive hand outs; otherwise I would have been a very unhappy camper! As you can see from the photo, though, the projector screen was more than adequate.
Corporate Training on My Calendar
2008-02-07 19:55:00
I will be attending a corporate training session next week, I am so excited! Okay, I am very aware that many a reader mentally rolled their eyes at me just now; corporate training is not everyone?s idea of a great time, but I really do enjoy learning new things. I especially enjoy learning the useful stuff that I can apply to my everyday life and work day. I attended this particular corporate training session, The IAB Canada Intensive One Day Course, a couple of years ago, and the speakers were not at all dry, the info and handouts were useful, and the applications I learned were immediately useful back at the office. I cannot wait to see what updates and additions there will have for 2008.Of course, I also enjoy corporate training sessions because I get spread the word about corporate computer and laptop rentals. I am attending this particular corporate classroom in a hotel in downtown Toronto early next week. Like it or not I plan to give a full condensed report of my day!

eComXpo Coming Soon to a Laptop Near You
2008-02-05 21:00:00
eComXpo is an online tradeshow for people and companies in the field of online media, including affiliated marketing, pay per click campaigns, etc. I think it is a very interesting and successful concept. Attendance is free and, if you are in the business, well worth the time spent logging in and clicking the mouse. There are such exhibitors as Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others.I was among their near 10,000 attendees at their 2007 show and I also attended the show prior to that. I exchanged VCards and participated in a few live chats with vendors, including a couple of Google reps. If you have ever tried to talk to a rep from Google live, over the phone, or via chat before, you can understand why I felt like I had just accomplished something huge..or at least quite tricky. As I mentioned, if you have not visited this online tradeshow before, I think you should take some time out of your day to attend. Or, if you are so inclined, why not exhibit? I think they are still accepting exhibito...

Corporate Training #1 Tip
2008-01-31 20:24:00
I am planning to attend several corporate classroom sessions in the upcoming months and, with a few exceptions, I am quite looking forward to going to them. There are so many factors that are involved in organizing and carrying out a large scale (or even small scale) corporate classroom event, so I am always impressed and delighted when I attend one that goes off without a hitch. On the other side of the scale, it is never fun to see an event that does not go as planned due to unexpected snags or technical difficulties. The number one tip I can give to corporate event planners is this: make sure that your corporate classroom technology is up to date and compatible with what you are trying to accomplish. With just the push of a button (or click of a mouse), dinosaur technology can ruin an otherwise perfect presentation. It is a simple piece of advice, and I am sure a lot of you are rolling your eye at the obviousness of my suggestion, yet when good presentations go bad, it often seems ...

Corporate Computer Rentals for Corporate Retreats
2008-01-29 18:06:00
There are many obvious reasons why a business person may need to take advantage of corporate computer rentals and, with only a hint of egotism, I thought I could name pretty much all of them. As it turns out, however, a good friend of mine has put me in my place by coming up with her own unique and profitable reason to take advantage of business computer rentals. My friend owns rental property on a beautiful lake in cottage country. As a successful and strategic business woman, she has begun advertising her oversized cottage property as the ideal corporate retreat and event place. The cottage really is the perfect place for corporate retreats and events, especially when equipped with the latest computer and presentation equipment. After talking to my friend, I realized that, with corporate computer rentals, it is possible to turn almost any room into a corporate meeting room.I hope my friend’s new business venture continues to thrive and, in the near future, I expect to see a lot of...

Trade Show Marketign Book: Guerilla Trade Show Selling
2008-01-24 16:30:00
I love to give and get free trade bookshow advice and ideas. I am always on the lookout for little tradeshow tips and hints. I will even read entire books on the subject of trade shows and event planning.I came across this title this morning, Guerrilla Trade Show Selling : New Unconventional Weapons and Tactics to Meet More People, Get More Leads, and Close More Sales. Most of the reader reviews I found on Amazon were quite positive. While I have not read this one yet, I have enjoyed a few other books in the ?Guerrilla Marketing? series. I am looking forward to reading this trade show edition as soon as I find the time. Hopefully sooner than later!I tend to buy my books online and by the dozen so the next time I am in the book purchasing mood, I will definitely make sure to add this one to my cart. If you have happened to read this one, feel free to let me know what you think and if/what suggestions you found useful.

De-stress with Corporate Computer Rentals
2008-01-21 19:32:00
Anyone who has ever organized a corporate event has experienced that unique kind of stress that only other event planners can relate too. Regardless of how many corporate events we have planned, how many successes we have experienced, or how many accolades we have received (ha-ha), we will still experience the ?Pre-show jitters?. This is because we understand that something, if not several things, will not go as planned. At least we can take comfort in knowing that we will likely be capable of working around whatever is not working right, and that we do not have to rely on ancient computer systems, incompatible equipment, or nasty technological surprises, thanks to corporate computer rentals. So moments before your next corporate event, remember to de-stress. Take a deep breath, relax, and feel confident because it is so obvious you know how to plan a successful corporate event. :)While on the topic of de-stressing, here is an article entitled De-stress ? at Work!

Macworld Conference & Expo Unveilings
2008-01-17 20:39:00
In a previous post, I mentioned that the Macworld Conference & Expo was coming to San Francisco this month. Well, it is now officially here. There is a lot of cool news and buzz coming from the Macworld Conference in general and Mr. Steve Jobs in particular.Earlier this week, Mr. Jobs unveiled an unbelievably thin laptop (less than an inch thick at its bulkiest spot) with a 13?screen, weighing in at 3 lbs! The machine will be sold for under $2000.There was also a lot of talk about Apple TV, iTunes movie Rentals, etc. but I can?t stop thinking about the above mentioned Apple. I am planning to purchase another personal notebook very soon and I keep waffling between an Apple and a PC. The above mentioned Apple does not have a DVD or CD drive and even though Mr. Jobs says it is becoming unnecessary, I am just not sure I am ready to go without yet. Hmm...I guess I will just have to continue reading reviews and trying to retain information at tradeshows. Hopefully I will make up my mi...
41st Annual Consumer Electronics Trade Show has Rapped Up
2008-01-15 15:37:00
The talk of pretty much every town right now is the 41st Consumer Electronics Trade Show , held last week in Vegas. Apparently when it comes to technology and gadgetry of the future, what happens in Vegas definitely does not stay in Vegas (I am so sorry, I just couldn?t help myself with that one). There were so many wondrous and goofy things at this tradeshow that my head is still spinning and I did not even attend the show. I simply soaked up every article, blog, and TV segment about the grand event. Among the coolest stuff, I read about is the LG E-paper. This paper can actually display high res images and text thanks to Wi-Fi technology. So who knows, some day in the future, you may see a Vernon?s brochure with a high resolution video demo. How cool would that be?The item from the Consumer Electronics Trade Show that is probably being discussed more than any other is the 150? Panasonic LifeScreen. Can you imagine watching your favourite movie on that? Or having that television at ...
The Secret to Holding Cost Effective Training Sessions
2008-01-10 18:25:00
My last post, Employee Training Sessions for Small Businesses, was all about how regularly scheduled training sessions and refresher courses can have a very positive impact on a company?s bottom line. Unfortunately, while many larger corporations are taking advantage of this practice, smaller businesses are letting this money making opportunity slip because they believe the practice is just too expensive.Well here is a secret that most major corporations already know. A company does not necessarily have to rent out expensive rooms in grand hotels to accommodate your entire sales staff...or HR department....or customer service reps...okay, you get the idea. In fact sometimes such group sessions can be detrimental to the learning process.I am not saying that companies should never hold gigantic training sessions. I am sure that there are circumstances than this format would be exactly what you need. What I am saying is that sometimes it is more effective to simply rent a projector, or...

Employee Training Sessions for Small Businesses
2008-01-08 18:36:00
There are many large corporations that hold regularly scheduled training sessions with their employees. There are many smaller companies that would greatly benefit from following the same practice as these larger companies but they are under the mistaken impression that the costs of such training and refresher courses would be too high. Even though they may have a meeting room large enough to accommodate group training sessions they simply do not have the right equipment to make the training sessions worthwhile. After all, it is not like an employer can ask their employees to pack up and take their desktops with them to the training session! If lack of equipment is holding your company back from holding necessary training sessions, I suggest you seriously consider desktop computer rentals. Desktop computer rentals are a lot cheaper than most people would expect and, used in tandem with a corporate training session, can have a positive impact on your bottom line.

Dedicated Server Rentals for Business for Conferences
2007-12-31 20:35:00
Before Vernon, I have had the unfortunate experience of lugging my heavy laptop from conference to conference, event to event in my business travels. It is not fun. Not only did my shoulder hurt long before the end of the trip, but also because I worried constantly about being in places I did not know that well with such an expensive piece of equipment.Since carrying a laptop, and all the accessories that went with it stressed me out so much, I could only imagine if I was also responsible for a server or two!Luckily, for all you dedicated server toters, Vernon Computer Rentals also offers dedicated server rentals! Imagine how stress free your next business trip is going to be now that you know Vernon has taken care of both your laptop and your dedicated server rental needs. You will wish you had talked you company into using our rental services before your very first business trip.

5 Tips to Relax Before Giving a Presentation
2007-12-28 21:27:00
I have mentioned in earlier posts that I have had a LOT of experience in the world of trade shows and business conferences. As part of my experience I have taken great care of conference speakers and sponsors.I think the most important thing that I have learned from dealing with trade show speakers and sponsors is that even the most experienced and professional will get the jitters. With that said, the average speaker at a business conference is not that experienced, nor a professional speaker. More often than not, he or she is just someone that is an expert in his or her chosen profession and has something of value to share. There are a few tips and tricks that business conference speakers can employ to calm the pre-performance jitters.1. Prepare prepare prepare! Do not wait until the last minute to prep your presentation or book your laptop rentals.2. Research. Find out who is speaking before you and who is speaking after you. Also, speak to your conference coordinator and see if h...

Event Planners and Suppliers Expo
2007-12-24 17:04:00
I just received word that the Event Planners & Supplier s Expo is coming to the Metropolitan Event Center in Golden Valley, MN this coming March. I love tradeshows serving the meeting and event planning industry, not just because almost every single exhibitor and attendee has need for our corporate computer rentals and projector rentals, but also because these shows are always so much fun. In fact, I have been to several over the years and I have not found myself board at one yet. The trade show booths are fantastic and meeting and event planners are really a fun bunch of people. If anyone is going to be in the Golden Valley area this March 5th (and is even remotely connected to the industry), I highly recommend making the time to stop by this tradeshow. Although I have never been to this one in particular, it had been going on for about 17 years so I am betting it is a great show

Corporate Computer Rentals Save the Day
2007-12-19 15:07:00
In the past, I have worked in the corporate event and tradeshow industry in pretty much every capacity you can think of. I have done everything from handing out promotional material at trade show booths, to coordinating and organizing all of the speakers at five trade shows strategically planned to happen simultaneously.Having been in the business, I can honestly say that one of the most underutilized resources in the corporate trade show industry is corporate computer rentals. When I had to coordinate the above mentioned speakers coming from all over the world, a lot of them (especially the less experienced speakers) insisted upon bringing and using their own computer equipment. It was not usually a big deal....unless of course they were forced to check their laptop instead of taking it carry on and their equipment never did make is to their corporate event. Or their equipment ended up not being compatible with ours. Or, in more cases that you could imagine, they forgot their cable...
