Minneapolis Computer Rentals Will See Demand Surge in September
2008-06-05 19:39:00 You can expect businesses in Minneapolis -St. Paul to be gearing up for the surge that it is coming at the end of the summer - whether it is for Minneapolis computer rentals, hotel rooms, dinner reservations, excursions and diversions, private homes to rent, tee-off times or any of the myriad products or services that will be in high demand - as the G.O.P. brings the Republican National Convention to the Twin Cities. The RNC organizing committee is estimating that roughly 45,000 conventioners, families and camp followers will descend on the Twin Cities for the RNC which will be held in St. Paul's Excel Energy Centre, September 1-4. The vast majority of the 45,000 who will descend on Minnesota will never get within the confines of the convention centre proper. The stated goal of Max Everett, CIO of the RNC's Committee on Arrangement, who is charged with bringing off the IT component of the RNC extravaganza, is "to use technology to make more of the convention appeal to the general... Government Computer Rentals Focus Shifts to Consolidation, Virtualization
2008-06-02 18:16:00 The hardware and software priorities of federal, state, provincial and municipal agencies - traditional users of leased and rented computer equipment - is shifting as the priority of these agencies' computing needs shift. The pattern of government computer rentals increasingly reflect an ongoing shift to local-area network consolidation and the 'virtualization' of employees desktops in an effort to reduce IT costs overall.Whereas, managers once procured long-term equipment rentals or leases to supply bulky desktops replete with extra space for file storage and each equipped with its own licenced software, increasingly government procurers are seeking cost reductions through linking 'virtual desktops' to leased or rented servers that are partitioned so that they can run multiple operating systems and applications for a fleet of 'virtual' desktops.Charles Christopherson Jr,. chief financial officer and CIO for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, describes in the 03/31/08 issue... Denver Computer Rentals to Access 'Wired-Up" DNC Convention Hotspot in Augu
2008-06-02 17:04:00 Demand for Denver computer rentals will hit an all-time high as visitors flock to the Mile High City in the last week of August for what promises to be perhaps the most wired-up political convention ever. (Yes . . . some of the protestors at the 1968 DNC gathering that rioted in the streets of Chicago may have been wired-up, but we're talking technology not "tuning in, turning on and dropping out.")Securing computer rentals, server rentals and peripherals in Denver for the week of August 21st - 29th, which includes the run-up to and aftermath of the Aug. 25-28 DNC itself) well beforehand is advisable - just like securing a premium rental loft or high-demand hotel room is. When planning any of the numerous events that you may be hosting around the DNC - the Convention proper is closed to the general public (delegates, superdelegates and press only please!) - get in touch early with a national equipment supplier which specializes in business computer rentals, and which will have st... Computer Rentals a Key Element in Data Security Strategies
2008-05-28 18:22:00 Recently reported results of a survey conducted by Zogby International on behalf of their client, Identity Theft 911, show that there is a heightened awareness amongst business executives of the risks posed by potential data security breaches. 45% of the surveyed key business decision makers reported that, "they are more concerned about data breaches than in the past." This does not, however, necessarily translate into their taking action. The Zogby/Identity Theft 911 numbers indicate that over a third of businesses have no tools or procedures in place to detect identity fraud, nearly 45% of companies believe that a breach of data security would have "no financial impact on their business" and another 22% admit that they do not know what the financial impact of a data security breach would be. That's over two-thirds of a randomly sampled, U.S.-wide survey of "business owners/decision makers" flying blind. At a minimum, as suggested here, overseas business travelers should guard a... Using Laptop Rentals to Avoid Busines Travel Hassles
2008-05-26 18:05:00 Not only is "Big Brother" watching you . . . . seems he's franchising those powers. We've written about the problematic potentials that the reinforced powers of U.S. Customs and Borders agents now present for eoverseas business travellers and how utilizing a laptop rental rather than your own can help safeguard business secrets. Well, here another twist in Mr. Orwell's story. . . .According to Vito Pileci of Canada's National Post newspaper it appears that Canada, the U.S. and the European Union are now negotiating an "Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement" (or, ACTA) that would require and permit customs agents to look for counterfeit components and software on everything from laptops, to iPods to cell phones that might infringe copyright laws or violate intellectual property rights of private copyright holders.According to the leaked ACTA document reported by Mr. Pileci, "Anyone found with infringing content in their possession would be open to a fine. Use Laptop Rentals to Secure Data at U.S. and U.K. Borders
2008-05-20 14:44:00 Utilizing laptop rentals when traveling in-country or overseas is becoming evermore advisable, as government agencies tasked with guarding our collective security are increasingly prying into areas - your computer's files and the information on them - which used to be confidential.Writing on the implications of a recent U.S. Federal Court of Appeals decision which allows U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents to search, seize and/or copy the hard drive of any computer being brought through the international arrivals checkpoint at a U.S. airport, Bruce Schneier (in an article in May 15th's Guardian newspaper) recommends going all "high-tech" to secure the confidential data and files on the business traveler's laptop. Mr. Schneier, rightly so, recognizes that the normal level of encryption you may (or may not) use to secure confidential or proprietary information may not suffice when crossing an international border."Encrypting your entire hard drive, something you should certainl... Server Rentals, Laptop Rentals Key Element in Disaster Recovery Planning.
2008-05-14 20:46:00 Ensuring access to laptop rentals, server rentals, and the technical support to get an improvised business network up and running at a secondary site when faced with a natural or man-made disaster is a key part in the emergent industry of disaster recovery/business continuity planning.Whether its the collapse of a vital section of the electricity grid or the emergence of a pandemic-scenario, as when the SARS scare affected Toronto, Vancouver and other areas of North America, ensuring ahead of time that a business can cope with the unexpected and operate from a different business site or campus can be all the difference between a business ?disaster? with long-term, lasting consequences and a short-term glitch that affects a company?s bottom-line but doesn?t necessarily erase that bottom-line altogether. Many large companies have disaster recovery/business continuity plans and teams in place. Most don't. A summary report on the current state of ?disaster preparedness? recently relea... More About: Recovery , Laptop , Planning , Disaster , Server

Using a Laptop Rental Advisable for International Business Travelers
2008-05-13 16:59:00 California's Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal handed down a ruling that quite clearly tells the business traveller that anytime he or she enters or re-enters the United States - whether at LAX, JFK or any other international terminal - his or her laptop, and every directory, subdirectory and file on the hard drive, can be opened, read and potentially copied by Customs and Border Patrol officers. This should raise alarm bells for anyone traveling overseas on business, given the nature of the proprietary, confidential and sensitive information on virtually any businessperson's laptop. The most effective strategy to advert the risks of confidential proprietary information leaking into the public domain, or being exposed to the possibility of such leakage, is to take out a laptop rental at minimal expense from a trusted business computer rentals outfit before embarking. Load the laptop rental with only the information and files you will require, and wipe the hard drive clean of any info... More About: Business , International , Laptop , Rental
Projector Rentals an Idea for the June to September Wedding Season
2008-05-08 15:54:00 The two most popular seasons for weddings are, of course, June . . . and September. While the wedding season runs year round, its two big peaks are on either end of the summer. In small towns and big cities across the country, every weekend - and these are typically Saturday affairs - from now to late September will feature the perennial parade of elegantly coiffed brides and grooms with their bevy of bridesmaids and groomsmen having their pictures taken in local parks and gardens before retiring for the reception. But how to bring the beauty of the ceremony and the fun of the candid photo-shoot opportunities of the big day, whether of the bride and her maids preparing as they ready themselves for memories of a lifetime or images of the groom getting ready with quiet confidence or exuberance? We live in an interactive age. Arranging projector rentals for your wedding reception that will allow videos of the ceremony and the attendant pre- and post-nuptial celebrations of the groom... Laptop Rentals Can Help Assure Data Security When Travelling Overseas on Bu
2008-05-07 17:47:00 A recent court decision from Los Angeles' Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals should give business travellers pause to consider whether they would not be well advised to pick up a laptop rental before travelling overseas on business and returning their computer rental when they get back from doing business overseas. The Court's ruling that United States Customs and Border Patrol agents have unfettered power to search laptops in airports - including opening every file on the hard drive - should give business travellers returning to the U.S. from overseas (including even Canada and Mexico) pause to consider whether they wish to have sensitive or proprietary business files on their every workaday laptop opened and subjected to scrutiny by relative strangers. Not to be alarmist, but the information on business files - whether in respect to information that needs to be shielded from competitors or strategic information about possible mergers or acquisitions - is always prone to "seepage" i... TradeShow Business Growing
2008-04-25 21:07:00 I read an article today on TSNN.com, the Ultimate TradeShow Resource, about the surprising jump in trade show interest. The TSNN.com database, which boasts between 100,000 â 150,000 registered users, has seen a whopping growth in unique visitors, hits, and impressions.A few years ago, when I was leaving a company that I was with to be with the company I am at now, I received a huge lecture from my caring yet slightly misguided soon-to-be-ex boss. She told me that trade shows were on their way out. Web and video conferencing were going to bring on the extinction of the tradeshow industry.I am an avid web and video conference attendee. I have also help set up more than a few of these sessions in my career. With that said, it is obvious that my boss was not correct. I nodded politely at her, thanked her for the advice and moved on to a position that would help me to cater to the exciting tradeshow and corporate event world. The truth is, and you will find this to be written in the abo... Long-Term Business Computer Rentals Equip Summer Interns for Success
2008-04-25 20:48:00 University is out and erstwhile undergrads hit the job market to fill their summer internship positions. If all works out, summer interns gain invaluable experience and perhaps an early entré into their chosen careers, while employers get the chance to assess whether the abilities and potential of possible future employees are a fit. Proactive employers can ensure summer interns are optimally equipped for success by ensuring that interns' computing needs are addressed promptly. Arranging a long-term business computer rental beforehand can satisfy the requirements of an experienced manager and an inexperienced summer intern.David Javitch, of Entrepeneur.com, notes that employers "need to get right to the issues that lead to success on the job" as the length of the summer intern's employment is already limited. Mr. Javitch suggests that "an effective manager" will try to devote even more time to a summer intern than he or she would to other employees, and that by doing so the m... Demand for Denver Computer Rentals and Other Services Will Soar
2008-04-21 16:29:00 Estimates of how many people will descend on Denver for the August 25th to August 28th, 2008 Democratic National Convention (DNC) vary. Already Qwest has been named as the official telecommunications provider to the DNC, while AT&T has been named as the official wireless provider in anticipation of the influx of from 35,000 to 50,000 visitors to the Denver-area for the four-day convention. The demand for Denver computer rentals, hotel rooms, private home rentals and the host of other products and services needed for a convention of this size is already soaring. It is anticipated that the DNC may well be the most-watched and most-wired political convention ever. Organizers for the DNC recently announced that local state bloggers from each of the 50 states and represented territories will be seated with the respective state delegations amid all of the action on the convention floor. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning: Business Computer Rent
2008-04-18 17:48:00 Contemplating a ?disaster? isn?t likely top priority for business owners and executives who tend to think in terms of business growth, increased productivity and the like. Large corporations and government departments have business continuity plans and disaster recovery experts whose job it is to contemplate such unpalatable ? and, frankly, scary ? scenarios. They have their own professional paranoids, so to speak. But how would your small or mid-size company recover from a fire, storm or freak accident that could put you out of business for days, months or perhaps permanently? Where would you begin the recovery and rebuilding process?Even for small and mid-size businesses (say 50 to 1000 employees) taking the time and making the effort to contemplate the ?uncontemplatable? is a valuable and potentially priceless effort. A good source for surveying the terrain of the business continuity/disaster recovery community is the Disaster Recovery Journal (www.drj.com) which features ar... THREE SCENARIOS WHERE BUSINESS COMPUTER RENTALS MAKE THE MOST SENSE
2008-04-17 18:29:00 Most often, the choice a business has to make in filling its computer hardware requirements is whether to lease or buy. Each has its advantages. Deciding which way to go may depend on where your company wants to have the costs appear on its books. Do you want to treat your hardware requirements as a business expense or as a capital outlay that will depreciate over time? In some instances, however, business computer rentals will make better business sense than leasing or purchasing the computer equipment you need.Scenario One: To meet short-term computer system needs. An example of such a short-term spike in your requirements would be for industry trade shows or conventions lasting one or two days. Your company or its sales team will likely need a range of computers and computer hardware in an off-site location. Not only will you need laptops and desktops, but you will also likely need a host of peripherals such as projectors, printers, servers etc. It's likely you will als... Corporate Classroom Newbies
2008-04-15 21:42:00 It used to be that corporate training was an occasional occurrence at most, even in the most competitive of fields. It can be difficult for anyone to stay focused and positive when we find ourselves in a new situation ? especially one we did not necessarily voluntarily sign up for. Corporate Equipment Rentals:Thinking Outside the Box
2008-04-11 17:46:00 In my last post, I wrote about the fact that the most successful tradeshows and corporate events are the ones that promote interactivity. I also mentioned that notebook rentals are one of the simplest and most inexpensive tools that can promote interaction between your attendees and your products or services. There are, however a lot more options for those business people and entrepreneurs interested in thinking outside the box.Along with your next notebook rental, why not rent a printer? Attendees could then print out interactive coupons. Another possibility is that you could customize whatever information you would like to print and hand out your prospective clients. You can also quickly and easily print two copies of a quote so you would have a quick reference for your next meeting.Corporate notebook and printer rentals are inexpensive, easy, and effective. Don?t forget to book before your next corporate event or tradeshow. More About: Equipment , Trade , Rentals , Thinking
Interactive TradeShow Booths = Successful TradeShow Booths
2008-04-08 17:58:00 It was not easy to get an unobstructed photo of these laptop rentals!I attended a really big indoor tradeshow this weekend just for fun. I wandered up and down the aisles scoping out all of the booths. There were some very impressive tradeshow booths and, of course, some not so great booths. After walking over the tradeshow floor for about five and a half hours, it was very obvious that the most crowded booths were the interactive ones, the ones that utilized laptop rentals to offer contests and games, or even just the ability to scroll the booth ownerâs website for more info.Laptop rentals are very inexpensive, easy to book, and they save you from worrying about carrying and utilizing your own laptops. Laptop rentals are so simple really that it is amazing how effective they are at capturing the attention of potential buyers. The next time you are exhibiting at a tradeshow or corporate event, donât forget to take advantage of laptop rentals; you will be glad you did. National Ballet School Now Open for Event Business
2008-04-03 20:37:00 The focus of my last several posts has been on unique corporate event and tradeshow venues. Every time I write about a new and different venue, I think it will be my last post on the subject. Yet, more and more fantastic venues continue to come to my attention. For this post I would like to focus on Toronto?s National Ballet School . It is an interesting venue that just recently began catering to corporate event and meeting planners. I have been to Toronto?s National Ballet School (as a visitor, not as a vendor, although visions of me in a pink tutu almost had me laughing coffee out my nose) and I will say that it is beautiful. The collection of structures that make up this school is an emotion evoking mix of old and new. After reading a short article on the subject, I found that the school can accommodate meetings from about 40 people to about 300. I would love to visit the National Ballet School again so, if you are booking this venue and corporate computer equipment rentals, give m... More About: Business , Event , Open
Innovative Tradshows Deserve Innovative Venues
2008-04-01 21:42:00 In my most recent post, Alternative Trade Show Venues (for the brave), I talked about a few innovative tradeshow ideas and venues out there, including a high-end tattoo parlor. The tattoo shop, in particular, I believe has experienced a good deal of success as a unique event and corporate event venue. It leads me to wonder how many other businesses could earn a name for themselves if they marketed themselves as a corporate event venue. If a tattoo shop, a zoo, or a yoga studio could do it, why not a glassblowing studio? Or a chocolate factory?I am sure that there are plenty of businesses out there that firmly (and correctly) believe that opening themselves up as an event venue would be more trouble than it is worth. For every business not interested, though, I am betting there is another business that just has not thought of it yet. In fact, it might be just the sort of idea to get a flailing business back on top. More About: Innovative
Data Security 'On the Road': The Advantage of Business Computer Rentals
2008-04-01 21:21:00 Your top executives are in Washington for a week-long meeting with regulators; your marketing director is in Denver for a three-day conference (and is jet-lagged); a team of your best salespeople are setting up a trade show in Las Vegas. The outcomes of these meetings are crucial for your company's success, but each could deal it a crippling blow unless the data they will rely on is fully protected. Using a trusted supplier of business computer rentals can help ensure that your proprietary and sensitive business data is protected while your people are "On the Road". Companies that rely on traditional corporate business centres and wifi networks on business trips are increasingly vulnerable to the proliferation of corporate snoops, identity thieves and cyber vandals who present a risk to your company's data each time one of your people logs onto a computer or server that isn't dedicated to your company's use.To prevent the potentially devastating theft or corruption and ... Alternative TradeShow Venues (for the brave)

I had a few ideas for unique tradeshow venues but I was convinced that, if I dug deep enough, I would find a few more interesting trade show and corporate event venues out there. I will however share my three favourites. The top three most unique trade corporate event venues that I found were as follows:1. A tattoo studio.2. A yoga studio3. A sporting arenaAll three very cool locations, I think, all though each of them would take a certain amount of bravery on the part of the event organizer. Also, I think the event organizer would have to have a very good flair.I am sure there are a lot more very interesting corporate event venues that I have not even heard of.
