Tip: The Rainy Day Fund
2007-09-06 06:05:00 Recently I had to go to Chicago for a two week inpatient hospital stay. The good news was that it seems to really have helped with the 'frequency and intensity' of my illness. (Don't you hate how doctors use that phrase?) Anyway, I'm glad I have health insurance, and while I haven't gotten the bill, I'm pretty sure my co-pay is going to set me back a good semester's worth of tuition. (I keep telling myself it's worth it!) Knowing that I was going to be putting so much money into the bill, I really couldn't afford much else and was graced by kind friends who took me in while I waited before and after my stay in the city. Emergency Preparation - Remember the six M's
2007-09-04 06:52:00 Unfortunately we live in a time, where it seems that emergencies and disasters happen quite often. Some are man-made like terrorism threats and some are natural disasters like floods and hurricanes. In any case, we need now more than ever to be prepared and it is even more important to be prepared when you or a loved one have a chronic illness to also be concerned about. Preparing for a Doctors Visit
2007-08-24 19:03:00 Nobody likes waiting, especially when you're not feeling well. Patients would rather be elsewhere, and contrary to popular belief, physicians do not like to keep patients waiting. Instead of spending time in the waiting room counting the minutes, you may be able to better use the time by preparing for the doctor visit. More About: Doctors , Visit , Prep
Book Review: Living Well with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia:
2007-08-22 22:56:00 Fibromyalgia is frequently diagnosed but poorly understood. Chronic fatigue syndrome by its very name is the source of conflicting opinion and no real consensus on treatment. What is a person to do when they discover they have one or both of these ailments? Resign oneself to an ever-deteriorating lifetime of poor health? Not necessarily. There are many resources, both medical and non-medical, available, and Mary Shomon covers the gamut in her book. More About: Living , Book Review , Book Reviews , Review , Book

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
2007-08-11 12:05:00 "The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane." Thus begins the most anticipated work of young adult fiction in my lifetime. Even though I am an adult, no longer considered young, I purchased a copy of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" for myself. I am not the only childless woman in her 40's to have done so, which should serve as an indication of just how this story transcends the age of its audience. Personal Essay: The Fight with Fibro.
2007-08-10 07:05:00 Sometimes I think those of us with Fibromyalgia are considered a special brand of crazy, among invisible diseases. People can understand a food allergy, auto-immune specific issues, even something that they may not have heard of, but is well documented like SLE. People with Fibro seem to have a reputation as lazy and liars. Science can't tell us why we hurt, why our nervous system has gone haywire or why we are exhausted all the time. 2007-07-27 23:40:00 Translated from Spanish to English by James Graham. This complicated and twisted book is extremely well written and gripping in content. Product Review: Shaklee Get Clean Cleaning Products
More articles from this author:2007-07-07 20:38:00 With a new baby on the way, I was looking into cleaning supplies that were chemical free and the "healthiest" for my baby. I also recently tried to take a renewed interest in doing what I can to live a healthier lifestyle. I think it is important to not only seek traditional medical advice, but to pay attention to what we are putting in, on and near our bodies. That being said, I was recently given the opportunity to bring some new cleaning products from Shaklee into my house for a product review and I was pleasantly surprised.
