Anger May Cause a Stroke
2008-02-27 04:48:00 Women are reluctant to push the issue of anger in their husbands because they are afraid to lose them. They are afraid that the man will leave them, and their fear is not always unfounded. But, letting a man rant on, without consequenses can cause a stroke in the man - or woman. The fact is, even if you do not express your anger, holding it in will still cause the health problems associated with anger. These include heart attack, stroke, death, and mental disorders. Science Daily ? ST. PAUL, Minn. Anger and other negative emotions may be triggers for ischemic stroke, according to a study published in the December 14 issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology. The study found that people who had strokes were more likely to have experienced anger or negative emotions in the two hours prior to the stroke than at the same time the day before the stroke. They were also more likely to have reacted quickly to a startling event, such as getting out of bed... More About: Stroke
Grandchildren
2008-02-27 04:47:00 I have two children, and 7 grandchildren. My husband's son has three. He is a soldier at a base in Western Canada. His daughter has five, and is a mom and student with more energy than I have.It is strange being both a mom and grandmother. It keeps you in touch with the 'trends' and new products out there. There are so many gifts to buy, and so many tastes to satisfy.I've learned a few tricks. First, don't shop at local stores. IF the children are younger, then you want to shop online to find something that is 'like' their friends have - but cooler. You have to shop online to do this. The current 'in' thing is heelys. However, if you want to get something that is 'just perfect' then you need to shop online. First - you need to know what a heely is...If the child is older, they might prefer rollerblades. But, unlike the younger children, the box is more important. You need to buy them at a place like 123skate.com so the kids can say their skates came from the Miami Strip.T...
Anger Management in Older Men
2008-02-27 04:21:00 I've noticed a lot of women complaininng that their husbands have anger management issues as they grow older.Science Daily ? While mellowing with age has often been thought to have positive effects, a Purdue University researcher has shown that doing so could also help you live longer.an Mroczek (pronounced Mro-ZAK), an associate professor of child development and family studies at Purdue University, compared neurotic and non-neurotic men over time and tied change in the trait with mortality."We found that neurotic men whose levels dropped over time had a better chance at living longer," Mroczek said. "They seemed to recover from any damage high levels of the trait may have caused. On the flip side, neurotic men whose neuroticism increased over time died much sooner than their peers."Sourced By: TheSAMIGroup.com It is difficult managing a husband with anger issues. Menopause Changes
2008-02-27 03:59:00 I don't think that menopause has hit hard enough that I can't sleep, but I am noticing a few of the symptoms of it. I've noticed that I become irritable easier, and that my body is changing. I am not at the stages where I am taking drugs, but it is time to make my choices, and learn my options. The Symptoms Menopause Changes Estrogen And Progesterone LevelsThe symptoms of menopause are caused by changes in estrogen and progesterone levels. When estrogen drops suddenly, as is seen when the ovaries are removed surgically (called surgical menopause), symptoms can be more severe. Perimenopause begins several years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen. Currently, hormone replacement therapy (estrogen with or without progestin) is the primary treatment for the symptoms and long-term risks associated with menopause. The work is the latest salvo in a years-long back and forth about memory, menopause, and estrogen. During menopause, the ovaries produce less es...

Were You In An Accident?
2008-02-27 02:50:00 Many older people are reluctant to sue someone who had injured them. They don't realize that you are not laying a claim against the person, but their insurance agency. The person will not suffer - not as much as you are. It is important to learn your rights and take a 'bold action.'Unfortunately, it is older people who suffer in silence. The younger generations are comfortable with courts and lawyers. That means the most vulnerable segments of society suffer. I write about a lot of diseases and 'chronic' situations which could be caused by an accident, carelessness, or negligence on a third party such as a neighbour or employer. There are many 'safe' ways to lay a claim. Accident Claims UK is one of these companies. Take a look at their website. The important thing to remember is that the experience should not cause more trauma. A good claims lawyer can make the entire procedure painless....you may not even go to court, they will do it for you. Before you suffer another day -...
Fibromyalgia: Information and Treatment
2008-02-27 02:38:00 There are some people who are tired all the time, not because they can't sleep. These people have fibromyalgia. This is a disease that makes you tired all the time. It is hard to diagonose, and is one of those 'in your head' things that doctors like to ignore. I don't totally agree with this article... I think the disease can be managed. What is Fibromyalgia ?Sometimes referred to as "fibro" and "the invisible disease," fibromyalgia is a very debilitating that can strike anyone. Approximately three to six percent of the U.S. population suffers from this condition, which causes sufferers chronic pains and aches. The chronic pain and fatigue associated with this disease causes sufferers a general discomfort and a loss of the ability to function normally. The earmarks of fibromyalgia are muscular aches and pains, stiffness of joints, and general fatigue. Most who suffer from fibromyalgia are faced with disturbed sleep, making it almost impossible to get a good night's rest. This only... More About: Information , Treatment
The Master Bedroom is Your Safe Place
2008-02-26 02:38:00 The older we grow, the more time we spend in bed. Have you noticed how your 'upgrades' to your house have more things in contact with the master bedroom. In fact, I've seen bedrooms where everything but the kitchen was attached to the master bedroom. This is not surprising. The master bedroom is our safe place. It is the most comfortable place in the house.Work, family troubles, and daily stress do not follow us into the bedroom. It is not surprising that people want to stay in this room. This is the type of bed we want. We've renovated our home to be a restored Colonial, but we don't want an antique type of bed. We looked at Oak Beds but prefer this wicker bed easily using the search wizard at time4sleep. When we first saw this at a local store, it was £649.00 but online it is only £449.00.That is another thing that is more valuable to me as I age - deposits.Life Just Keep Getting Better And Better More About: Bedroom , Place , Master , The Master , Safe
First Relax - Then Sleep
2008-02-26 02:32:00 I remember a time in my life that I was so stressed my head wouldn't touch the pillow. My neck muscles were that tight - and my doctor wouldn't believe me. I had to teach myself to relax. I took a few yoga classes, learned deep breathing, and within a few weeks I could relax until I lowered my blood pressure to the 'sleep level.'How To Relax FastWhy should you learn how to relax fast? Because stress is more than just unpleasant. It's also dangerous. Many diseases are now known to be caused by or made worse by stress, but you can do something about it. Just try these relaxation techniques today, and use them whenever you feel that tension coming on.1. Have a hot shower. The hot water relaxes your muscles, and the break from more stressful activities helps too.2. Play relaxing music. Experiment to see which music relaxes you the most effectively. Then keep your favorite relaxation CD at the office, or wherever you'll need it most.3. Go somewhere else. This really helps if the th... More About: Sleep
Sleep Disorders - Your Pillow
2008-02-24 21:42:00 One of the things we have done to handle our recent problem with sleeping is to get new pillows. We prefer natural fibers over foam. Especially as the man made fibers leach chemicals into the air. However, we do find that the shape of the pillow makes a difference. Our new pillows are down, but not over puffed. They are comfortable, and don't 'trap' my head. How to Choose a Perfect Pillow for the Deepest Night Sleep Sleeping is one of the most important things for us to maintain our health. Proper sleep affects how we perform throughout the day. The better we sleep, the better our performance. In spite of the importance of sleep, most pillows were not designed to properly support the body to ensure a good night's sleep. The perfect height of a pillow should be 8 to 15 cm because a pillow which is too high will lead to the neck being bent forwards, thus affecting backbone muscles, as well as the blood circulation of the brain, resulting in backbone diseases, pressing the blood vesse... Cosmetic Surgery
2008-02-24 20:29:00 I read a recent news article that stated how the stigma of plastic surgery is decreasing. More and more people are opting for surgery as a method of staying younger. The days when people only considered plastic surgery for a tummy tuck or Boob Job are fading fast. Cosmetic surgeon Yefta Moenadjat told the Jakarta Post that he admires celebrities who admit they have had work done."People are beginning to accept cosmetic surgery," he said. "It's an individual's right to decide what they want to do with their own body."Cosmetic surgery has also come down a lot in price. I can have all the fat removed from my body for $5500. I would rather do that than take a vacation. Once the fat cells are gone, it will be easier to maintain my weight. I just need to avoid making more cells. Of course, then I might want breast implants to restore the balance of my figure. But that is another post.Life Just Keep Getting Better And Better More About: Cosmetic Surgery , Surgery
Sleep
2008-02-24 20:23:00 I've turned my days and nights around. I was told that this would get worse as I aged. We put a heater in our room, and that helps. We increased the temperature of our bedroom 10 degrees. Increasing the temperature any higher will cause sinus problems or bloody noses. Not eating before going to bed also helps. Stop eating at least three hours before bed.I also read a recent article that states having a television in your bedroom keeps you from falling into a deep sleep, even if it is turned off. Watching as much as one hour of television before bed can disrupt sleep patterns. So, we removed our televisionThese are what we are trying. It has been a week, and we are starting to sleep better, and sleeping less. Love is a Verb
2008-02-21 21:14:00 I remember a song from the 70s that stated 'love is a verb.' As a writer I can remember arguing the point. Now, I understand what they mean. Love is not a feeling, it is something you do. That is why we 'lose' the feeling as the years pass, because we stop showing love. What do we stop? We stop being romantic. Today, there are no reasons or excuses. There are some excellent websites that are full of romantic ideas designed to rekindle those flames you felt when you first met. I sent my husband a note in his lunch that said I miss you. He laughed at the idea, and made jokes that he was glad the 'guys' were not around when he found the note...but he responded by being romantic with me. That was about four years ago, and we've worked hard since then learning how to show each other how much we love the person. One person gave me some great advice. Think of life alone. If you always remember what it is like to be alone, you'll always appreciate your spouse. So, love might not be ...
Falling in Love
2008-02-21 21:10:00 I have to admit that I feel in love with my husband about 5 years after we married. Oh, I was sure I was in love with him all along. I can now say that I never loved my first husband, and I am working hard to make sure that my children do not marry someone they do not love by teaching them what love is. I thought I'd share this article with you. Its your Turn to Fall in Love Its Your Turn to fall in Love Its a special time when a couple falls in love. Its almost as the world stop turning and all the stress in the world disappears. It is a time when two people have no other cares other than spending time with each other. Suddenly friendship takes on a whole new meaning and the future looks a whole lot brighter. So why is falling in love so much fun? I believe it is because couples have the opportunity to find something that not everyone has. It is something that most people dream about, to finally have someone who can see the person who lies beneath all of the stress and hustle that ...
Love is Part of a Healthy Lifestyle
2008-02-21 20:57:00 It is well documented that people in a happy, romantic relationship live longer. This is not really a new discovery, but something people have known for generations. What is new is that people are starting to learn how to show others that they love them, and the foundations of love. There are five love languages, most have something to do with what we call romantic: -Physical contact and sex-Giving gifts-Spending quality time-Acts of service, helping with chores-TalkingWe all have a dominant love language and a secondary love language. However, our spouse will not share our love language. That means we need to learn how to tell our spouse what we need, but also learn their love language and work hard to make them feel loved. The surprising thing about love is that it is something we give away, not something we receive. No one can make us feel loved, no matter how hard they try, unless we nurture love within ourselves first. Any relationship can be saved, improved, and enjoyed if both... Would You Have a Tummy Tuck?
2008-02-21 18:20:00 I've been taking a good look into having a tummy tuck. I had a friend who had a tummy tuck a few years ago. I dismissed the idea at the time, but now I am not too sure. It is just getting too hard to keep flat abs. A ponch ruins the whole effect of dressing up, and I hate girdles. I've written a lot of articles for celebrity plastic surgery clinics. The more I look, and the more horror stories I hear, the more I think I would rather visit a clinic with high-exposure and in turn, high-accountability. I've also read a lot of articles and reports that state that the california plastic surgeon is among the best in their field. They have the experience, the resources, and the training to do the best job. Their clients expect the best, keeping them 'on their game' as my son would say. The recent news media is full of horror stories from small time surgeons. Like the poor woman in Australia who had liposuction and was left with 8? bags under her arms, and on her tummy, that couldn?t b...
Stop Snoring - Do Snoring Exercises Help You Stop Snoring or is it Another
2008-02-21 18:18:00 I have a problem snoring. I only started snoring in the last few years. At first I ignored the problem, but then I started to wonder if it could be helped, so I went looking for articles to help. I included some of the better ones in this blog.If you are a snorer, chances are you may have heard of snoring exercises that can help you stop this annoying problem. You may wonder whether it really works or are they all just nonsense. As humans, we often disregard remedies that are new or different and do not bother trying them out even more so if they are health related. Hence, you may be suspicious if someone were to tell you that these exercises do any good at all. However, these exercises are scientifically linked to the principle that snoring is caused by weak throat muscles that collapse during sleep. Therefore, they make some sense after all as they are aimed at strengthening the throat and jaw muscles which is directly related to snoring.Improving Muscle ToneSnoring exercises that... Popular Stress Prevention Tips
2008-02-20 23:40:00 The stress response of the body is somewhat like an airplane readying for take-off. Virtually all systems (the heart and blood vessels, the immune system, the lungs, the digestive system, the sensory organs, and brain) are modified to meet the perceived danger.External stressors include adverse physical conditions (such as pain or hot or cold temperatures) or stressful psychological environments (such as poor working conditions or abusive relationships). Humans, like animals, can experience external stressors.Internal stressors can also be physical (infections, inflammation) or psychological. An example of an internal psychological stressor is intense worry about a harmful event that may or may not occur. As far as anyone can tell, internal psychological stressors are rare or absent in most animals except humans.Different Types of Stress Specific Phobias: It is a consuming fear of a specific object or situation, often accompanied by extreme anxiety symptoms. Learn to Do-It-Yourself
2008-02-20 23:33:00 I have to stop and remind people that not all home based businesses are 'online.' In act, there are many people who start a new career after they retire, just to keep active. I've taken many online courses, sometimes for business, other times I take a course to learn skills I need.Last weekend we had to fix our toilet. We did call a plumber, but they wouldn't come out for 2 weeks. Have you ever gone 2 weeks without a toilet? Why? When Plumbing Training is so affordable through online schools, then why pay the tradesmen? We did hire a plumber once and were very upset. Not only did he charge us $800 for 4 hours work, but he changed what we wanted - without asking. We had reversed the taps in the kitchen because my husband does the dishes, and he is left handed. When the plumber left, we realized that he had re-welded the pipes so the taps were 'right.' The sad thing is that we didn't realize this until my husband gave himself a mild burn. Stress
2008-02-20 23:15:00 There are a lot of things that causes stress in our lives, such as finances, our family relationships, our work, medical conditions, driving, sex, competition, politics and world events; and I guess this is something that hasn't really changed over the years. But there sure seems to be a lot of people consumed with stress these days and believe it to be a natural part of their lives. They walk around uptight all of the time and find it difficult to relax. Often times they complain about migraine headaches, ulcers, tightness in their backs, and other body ailments. If you were to touch them, they would probably jump out of their skin. A lot of the stress such people possess is self-imposed. Many fear making a mistake, which might lead to their demise or cause people to think less of them. Consequently, we are seeing a generation of uptight perfectionists emerge who sweat over innocuous detail. Such people tend to drive the rest of us crazy. To relieve stress, most of us do some sort ... More About: Stress
Beware Buying Overseas for Retirement
2008-02-20 23:15:00 Many people dream about retiring in a foreign country, Spain, the southern hemisphere, or another exotic location. This dream can turn into a nightmare if the property investor doesn't do their homework first. Mortgage lenders in foreign countries do not always operate by the same rules as the standard, popular banks. Just visit any mortgage website and you'll learn things that we take for granted in this country:It is impossible in many countries to borrow a 100% mortgage. Banks are reluctant to lend money for investing in certain countries. In some countries, you can take your money in, but if you sell the property at a later date, the government will not let you take the money back out of the country. There are some options, like the buy-to-let developers in other countries that offer 'guaranteed rents.' Unfortunately, they overcharge on the property, then give the property owner back their 'own money' in the form of rents. However, the property is not let. Many foreign cou... Managing Your Debt
2008-02-20 17:51:00 My first husband went bankrupt. I was lucky, his lawyer would not let him declair bankruptcy without including me. This was the best decision, because I was clear and building wealth within a few years. He married a woman with her own house, and now they are sinking in debt. One of the first things I did was take Debt Management courses. I took one on budgeting, and one on building wealth/debt management. Until that course I did not know that the two went hand-in-hand.Most people don?t know that if they get out of debt, they can build wealth. In fact, the average American pays more than $5000 in interest a year on personal loans and credit card debt. That is $50 000 plus interest every 10 years. Or, to put it another way, it cuts more than a decade off the length of your mortgage, which reduces the mortgage interest, and builds more wealth. There are some ways to stay out of debt. First, is to cut up the credit cards. Second is to pay down debts before saving. The interest on a cr...

Debt Can Ruin Your Health
2008-02-20 05:27:00 The adverse effects of debt on both health and relationships are well documented. The newspapers are filled with horror stories. People who do not know their spouse has borrowed tens-of-thousands of dollars, in secret. The one spouse rarely knows of the debt until the debt collectors start to call. Then, it is too late.Or, the woman finds their husband ran up unmanageable debts when her divorce lawyer tells her that she won?t be splitting the family debts, instead they will be sharing thousands of dollars in debts. In some cases, the only option appears to be bankruptcy. Even if your household is not sinking in debt, the stress of carrying the debt can cause serious health problems, especially heart problems. We had this happen in our house. My husband had 2 hidden credit cards and built up $5000 of debt without telling me. This wasn?t bad, except that he had dipped into the business overdraft for another $10 000. Is Your House Still Mortgaged?

We went to our local bank, took out a mortgage, and had it paid of in 25 years, by the time we were 50. Now, I am 45 and still have half my mortgage to pay off. Not only that, I am navigating the new mortgage broker world. We saved hundreds of dollars a year by using a broker. Very few people walk into a bank as their 'first stop' when looking for mortgages it is too expensive. However, it can be tricky. Anyone can become a mortgage broker with about 8 weeks training. That is why it is important to go with a well known broker who has been in business for years. A good broker will find a cheap mortgage by a reputable lender who will not 'resell it.' An amateur will type your info into a computer and sell you the cheapest thing on the list, without doing the proper research.Using a broker is not dangerous, or unsafe, it is just a different method of buying a mortgage then we are accustomed to.
