2007-10-04 10:05:00
As if flying isn’t stressful enough, do you take the time to prepare your skin before you fly? Airplanes dehydrate your skin You probably all know how the dry air in airplanes just sucks out all of the moisture in your skin within minutes. I absolutely hate how dry the air is on planes, but since I ...

2007-09-28 15:03:00
If you have dry, chapped hands, have you tried Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream ? Since I’ve been living in a dry climate, I have had terribly dry hands, and I’ve tried probably 10 different hand creams, none of which worked well, or lasted more than 10 minutes. A few years ago I bought a little travel size ...

Laser Hair Removal Info
2007-09-26 16:44:00
Laser Hair Removal is extremely intriguing because you’ll many times hear claims like “never have to shave again” or “be hair-free for life.” When I started my job at the Medical Spa, I had researched a lot about skin care, but I didn’t know anything about laser hair removal, which was the most popular treatment we ...

How To Prevent Melasma
2007-09-24 16:31:00
Melasma, also known as pregnancy mask, or hyperpigmentation, is an extremely common issue for women. An increased level of the hormone estrogen, either caused by pregnancy, a change in hormone levels, or birth control pills, can cause dark patches on the face. Melasma and sun spots are sometimes hard to tell apart, but Melasma generally ...

Bar Soap Can Clog Pores
2007-09-20 16:04:00
While I wrote my post about cosmetics and skin care products that can cause acne, I didn’t mention anything about bar soap. From Paula Begoun’s books and website, I’ve learned that the ingredients that make bar soap a solid form can clog your pores. Bar soap can possibly cause, or worsen blackheads, and other forms ...

What Self Tanners Smell The Best?
2007-09-15 01:07:00
What are you favorite self tanners, and which ones smell the best? In the summer, I use self tanners every day, but have a hard time finding ones that smell good. It seems like it’s super hard for beauty companies to come up with fragrances that successfully cover up the unpleasant scent of DHA (the ...

Vitamin D And Sun Exposure
2007-09-11 11:53:00
I constantly hear about Vitamin D nowadays, and it seems like the vitamin du jour to talk about on the news, and in books and magazines. Remember several years ago when Vitamin E was all the rage? In the August 2007 issue of Elle magazine, I was fascinated by an article about Vitamin D , since ...

I was just reading on Paula Begoun ’s Free Beauty Bulletin that she’s coming out with a 7th edition of her popular book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me. I am surprised to learn this, because I remember she wrote, either in her book, or on her beauty bulletin, that the last version of ...

Since I live in Las Vegas, I’m taking a vested interest in MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMA) this year because they will take place live from Vegas on Sunday, September 9th. I used to be obsessed with MTV when I was a kid, and even though I’m “too old” for it now, I still watch it ...

Botox For Excessive Sweating
2007-09-07 10:32:00
Botox is not just for getting rid of wrinkles! It has tons of other uses, including helping to reduce sweating! Excessive sweating, also know as Hyperhidrosis, is relatively common and it effects about 10% of the population. Some people just naturally sweat more than others, while certain endocrine disorders, neurological problems, dermatologic syndromes, and social ...

Eyebrow Waxing
2007-09-05 12:32:00
I am not an expert when it comes to waxing since I’ve only had my eyebrows waxed! I don’t like pain, and I don’t like the fact that hair always comes back after waxing, so that’s why I haven’t embraced waxing. I kind of skipped the whole waxing thing, and jumped into laser hair removal, ...

What Is Expensive?
2007-08-31 10:23:00
I’m so used to seeing beauty/skin care products with super expensive price tags, that I sometimes forget that few people would actually pay $100 for a jar of moisturizer. The most I ever paid for a skin care item was about $100 for something by Dr. Perricone. It was a total waste of money, because ...

Prevage MD vs Generic Idebenone
2007-08-30 11:49:00
Prevage MD When I worked at the Medical Spa, we sold Prevage MD, the 1% Idebenone cream that is made by Allergan, the makers of Botox. This normally retails for about $150 (although we were selling it for $100 for some reason), so I was excited that we had a tester to use since I was ...

Free Beauty Bulletin
2007-08-28 10:05:00
I’m a big fan of Paula Begoun because she cuts through the hype about different beauty products, and gives her opinion based on product ingredients and her own research. After reading her book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me, I signed up for her free Beauty Bulletin . It’s pretty much a free extension of her books, where she reviews new products, answers viewer questions, reports on beauty news, and gives you beauty tips and tricks. Get the free email beauty bulletin here. I have signed up for the regular email bulletin, and the bonus email bulletin, so I get an email once a week. There are sooo many new beauty products coming out all the time, so obviously she doesn’t report on all of them, so I still head over to MakeupAlley.com to read reviews there too, before buying something new.

Beauty Product Ingredients MIA
2007-08-27 10:56:00
Even though I just wrote that I’m happy with my beauty products, I am always tempted by new products that come out. Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Xtreme caught my eye last month when I read about it in Allure. I looked for reviews about in on MakeupAlley.com, but couldn’t find much about the new Xtreme version. Yesterday I noticed that Beauty Snob wrote about it, and now I’m tempted to try it since she gave it a really good review. But then I realize I can’t find the list of the product’s ingredients anywhere online. This drives me nuts!!! For non-drugstore products, it’s impossible to find ingredients half the time. A lot of times people will post them on MakeupAlley, but otherwise, I have to wait til I get to the store to see them. UGH. I don’t know why companies do this. Maybe I’m the only one that cares about ingredients, or maybe the companies are trying to hide something because the ingredients are crap, or maybe they are ...
