Happy With My Beauty Product Rut!
2007-08-26 10:19:00 Even though I am obsessed with skin care and beauty products, I now have a paralyzing fear of buying anything new! When I was trying to cure my acne, I spent an obscene amount of money on every product I could find, and initially nothing worked, so I felt like I had wasted so much money. Finally, after I found products that worked and I was able to get rid of my acne, I was content. I had everything I needed to achieve acne-free skin, and a few other skin care products helped to lessen my wrinkles. I read so many magazines, and always want to try every new product that comes out, but I feel like I already have everything I need. I don’t have a lot of money to throw around, and since I don’t “need” any beauty products, I don’t buy anything, except for restocking the items I already use. Aside from a new sunscreen I bought last month - Dermaquest Zinclear SPF 30, I can’t tell you the last time I’ve bought a new product! Oh wait, I did buy Clin... Skinny Fat
2007-08-25 10:53:00 I’ve decided I’m a skinny fat person. I had never heard this term, until recently, when it was used to describe Mischa Barton, but I think it applies to me too. Essentially a skinny fat person is someone that is of normal weight, or even a bit underweight, but they are “fat” because they have a high percentage of fat for their weight. So while their weight may be envious to others, they may not actually be that healthy. A skinny fat person doesn’t have a lot of muscle tone, and since muscle weighs more than fat, that could also explain how someone can have a lower weight than someone of the same height that does have a lot of muscle. I’ve always been at a normal weight, and assumed if I wasn’t overweight that I was healthy, but now I know that’s not necessarily the case. Even though I haven’t had an actual body fat test, I just don’t feel that healthy. My problem is pretty simple - I don’t work out enough. When I work... More About: Skinny
Anchorwoman Too Tan For TV
2007-08-24 08:38:00 So I watched that new Fox reality show “Anchorwoman ” last night. I didn’t think it was the worst thing in the world, and I was mildly entertained. But I kept getting confused because the star of the show, Lauren Jones, looked like she was in her late 30s, and if the whole premise of the ... More About: Tanning , Sunscreen , Dermatologist
Zinka Zinc Oxide Sunblock
2007-08-23 10:10:00 If you grew up in the 80s, you may remember Zinka, the colored zinc oxide sunblock that lifeguards wore on their nose, and trendy teenagers wore on their faces. I loved Zinka cause it smelled like coconuts and I had this hot pink lip balm I used to wear to the beach. I can’t say I was bold ... More About: Skin Care , Sunscreen , Lock , Zinc
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
2007-08-21 10:21:00 As far as moisturizers go, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion seems controversial to me. I believe it first came out in 1968, and to this day it still sells really well. I hadn’t ever tried it, even though I knew it was really popular, and I’d see it every time I passed the Clinique counter. In ... More About: Beauty Products , Paula Begoun , Nique
Anti-aging For Your Cat!
2007-08-19 09:24:00 Maybe this is a bit off-topic, but I thought it was a cute fluff (ha) piece. Recently I mentioned how you can determine your Real Age, which is how old you look/feel/are depending on how well you take care of yourself. I’m 3 years younger than my calendar age, due to some “healthy” habits. After ... More About: Aging , Anti
Botox Tips
2007-08-18 10:53:00 Currently I’m a big proponent of Botox and have Botox injections, but it’s a serious beauty treatment, and there are several things you should know before you get it. More than 30 years ago, Botox was originally used to treat crossed eyes and twitching eyes, and it’s even been used in children with Cerebral Palsy. ... More About: Tips
My Botox Experience
2007-08-16 10:01:00 I currently have Botox , and I think it makes me look several years younger. Usually when I try to judge someone’s age, I look for wrinkles around their eyes, but the Botox has gotten rid of those lines, as well as the lines in my forehead and between my eyes. I thought it would be years ... More About: Experience , Dermatologist , Peri , Erie
UV Index
2007-08-14 12:45:00 The UV Index is the measurement of the ultraviolet rays that are hitting the Earth, and it’s a guide to let you know the sun’s intensity on a particular day. If you go to the EPA Sunwise site, you can enter in your zip code or city, and it will give you your city’s reading. ... More About: Skin Care , Tanning , Sunscreen
Frownies - The Poor Woman?s Botox
2007-08-12 10:06:00 I heard about these “silly” skin care wrinkle preventors several years ago called Frownies. They are essentially thick pieces of paper with an old-school stamp-like adhesive. You wet them, and then stick them on your face in areas you get muscle-causing wrinkles. In the picture, you can see the woman has them in between her ... New Beauty Magazine
2007-08-09 02:46:00 I subscribe to probably 15 magazines, but just picked up New Beauty magazine for the first time. Well I’ve browsed it before, but this is the first time I actually bought it! It’s a really big magazine, and it comes out only twice a year. It has a really good overview of all sorts of ... More About: Magazine , Magazines
The Best Sunscreen and Sunblock
2007-08-07 13:50:00 Since I don’t want to pre-maturely age my skin or get skin cancer, I’m obsessed with sunscreen! I use the term sunscreen and sunblock interchangeably, since the distinction between the two words seems to be gone. I have tried countless sunscreens, and have found that most of them work well as far as keeping me ... More About: Skin Care , Tanning , Sunscreen , Lock , Cree
California Spray Tan at Sunset Tan
2007-08-05 12:18:00 For a weekend of fun, I drove from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and when I noticed the Sunset Tan on Sunset Blvd (at Alta Loma), I thought it would be interesting to stop in for a spray tan! Blackheads
2007-08-03 17:08:00 Blackheads are very annoying to me. I’ve successfully gotten rid of all my acne, except for the stubborn blackheads on my nose. I’ve tried all sorts of things, but at most they go away for a day and then come right back. What works the best for me is the Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel but I ... 2007-08-01 09:13:00 I just wanted to show you my Medical Spa uniform - this pink Botox t-shirt (and black pants). hehe. It doesn’t look very pink here cause I took this with my camera phone. How To Prevent Cosmetic Acne
2007-07-31 09:06:00 Oil-free, non-comedogenic, and Dermatologist-tested are all phrases I used to look for when I’d buy products to help with my acne. By reading The Beauty Bible - Paula Begoun, and through my own personal experiences, I’ve learned that these terms are meaningless. The beauty industry does not seem to have standards when it comes to labeling ... More About: Products , Cosmetic , Acne , Skin Care , Vent
The Pill To Treat Hormonal Acne?
2007-07-29 14:56:00 I am not a doctor, so obviously everything I say is only my opinion, based on my research, and not on a medical background. Red Acne Spots
2007-07-28 15:09:00 After I was finally rid of my adult acne, I was left with a face full of red spots where the active acne used to be. I had red spots everywhere! Acne Treatments That Didn?t Work
2007-07-25 14:49:00 A big reason I started this site is because I wanted to let people know how I cured my adult acne. Why Tan People Make Me Look Good
2007-07-25 05:13:00 With the bombardment of the media, tv, magazines, and doctors warning you about the dangers of tanning, I can’t imagine anyone doesn’t know that tanning is bad for you. And I don’t think anyone is silly enough to believe that tanning beds are “safe.” As a teenager, I knew tanning wasn’t good, but I figured ... More About: People , Tanning , Make , Good , Sunscreen
What?s Your Real Age?
2007-07-24 07:00:00 I was watching an Oprah repeat today and Dr. Oz was on. This reminded me of the Real Age website, and I thought I’d take the free test again, since I haven’t done it in a while. My calendar age is 32, and I think the last time I took the quiz it said I was 26. ...
Would You Like to Get Rid of Cellulite?
2007-07-23 05:49:00 Me too! Actually there was a point when I was cellulite-free! I will get to that later. Supposedly 90% of women have cellulite, and I’m definitely one of them! Product Discontinuation Paranoia

How I cured my super dry, chapped lips
2007-07-20 09:45:00 When I moved from Hawaii to San Francisco for college, I was plagued with an annoying problem - super duper dry cracked, chapped lips!
