Mind and Brain Relationship
2007-08-10 17:10:00
There are many people who still don?t know if mind and brain are same. When we talk we refer mind as heart, something which has a feeling; where as brain is like an organ which helps you take decision without getting influenced by emotions. But then, are brain and mind different? This is a million dollar question.People have tried to prove this scientifically and also philosophically. Still there are people who find it heard to believe that mind and brain are different. If you ask me, I would safely say 'I don?t know'. It can be same or different. With this question in mind when I was searching for answers I came across many articles, theory which contradicted one another. There were many interesting articles that I found in the internet. Here is one of them, really interesting theory. Have a look and let me know what you feel. Mind and Brain Relation ship
Yoga and Meditation - Are they same? (Part - 3)
2007-08-06 15:00:00
Preparations for Meditation Since meditation is based on intense concentration, certain prerequisites must be met for it to be successful. Above all, it calls for a steady and comfortable posture (asana). The lotus posture (padma-asana) and the adept's posture (siddha-asana) are most frequently recommended in the scriptures of Yoga and Vedanta. But meditation can be pursued in any posture so long as it can be assumed for a prolonged period of time without discomfort. Many of the postures promoted in Hatha Yoga qualify as meditation postures over and above their therapeutic purpose and merit. Most neophytes have to battle physical discomfort, mental restlessness, and not least boredom. Hence the scriptures emphasize the need for emotional and spiritual maturity. Inner work demands a certain level of detachment from material life and a strong interest in higher values-the scriptural desire for liberation (mumukshutva). Without adequate moral preparation and genuine spiritual aspiration...

Yoga and Meditation - Are they same? (Part - 2)
2007-08-06 14:58:00
The Objects of Meditation The Yoga -Sutra (1.39) leaves it open what objects are suitable for meditation. In Patanjali's own words, meditation can be "as desired" (yatha abhimata). As Vyasa explains in his Yoga Bhashya (1.39): "Let him contemplate whatever object he chooses. Having reached stability in that [meditation], the mind reaches the stable state in respect to other [objects] as well." Vijnana Bhikshu in his Yoga-Varttika (1.39) cites meditation upon the images of Vishnu and Shiva as an example.Anything can be made an object of meditation, including phenomena that are not usually deemed desirable, such as wrathful deities, or negative states of mind, like anger or jealousy. The ancient King Hiranyakashipu, the father of the saintly Prahlada, achieved fame for his dvesha-yoga or spiritual practice of hatred. According to Puranic legend, he hated Visnu with such fervor that he constantly thought of him-thereby gradually becoming transformed into the object of his negative emoti...

Yoga and Meditation - Are they same? (Part - 1)
2007-08-06 14:33:00
Some of us still have the confusion as to whether Yoga nad meditation same or different?Meditation is a way of concentrating and realising oneself. However, yoga is a form of posture with which we can increase our concentration. Kinda confusing uh? I came across this article about yoga and meditation. This article realy impressed me and gave me the answers for few of my questions. I found this article in 'traditionalyoga.com' by Georg Feuerstein. This article talks in detail about yoga nad meditation and hence I am giving this as 3 seperate parts.Introductory StatementMeditation is central to the spiritual endeavor in many schools of Hinduism, notably the Yoga tradition. The Bhagavad-Gita (12.12) ranks meditation above intellectual knowledge, and the Garuda-Purana (222.l0) states: "Meditation is the highest virtue. Meditation is the foremost austerity. Meditation is the greatest purity. Therefore be fond of meditation." This exhortation expresses a sentiment that is widespread in...

Higher energy levels lead to sooner success
2007-08-02 01:07:00
I have already talked and have written a lot about positive and negative thoughts. This area interests me a lot. Here is one more article for you to enlighten your knowledge....it is by enoch tan.People who achieve success faster usually have higher energetic levels. Energy is defined as the capacity for vigorous activity, or available power. Since everything is energy, wealth is simply energy that comes to you faster when your energy is in higher motion. When your body and mind function at high energy level you will be able to study more, work more and enjoy your life better. The world belongs to the energetic.Men and women whose lives don?t improve from year to year are those who have never thought about why they want their lives to improve in the first place. If you don?t think about the reasons why, you can?t generate the emotional excitement and energy that motivates you to do the things that make your dreams come true.Emotion is central to all accomplishments. The more you thi...

Mirror of Thoughts - Your life!
2007-07-30 19:29:00
Sometimes rather most of the time, we have the feeling that what we thought has become true. It may be good or bad. For example, you might have thought for a second that it would have been really nice if you and your best friend go out for dinner. Then, you would have forgotten the very thought. But to your surprise, your friend would have asked you out for dinner the next day or the same day. I have experienced a lot of situations like this. Sometimes I have wondered.....am I a Psychic? But the truth is NO. Iam not a Psychic, but it is only my thoughts which have come in real. I read an article in the website Mind reality (mindreality.com), about reflecting back your own thoughts into reality. I felt it very interesting. I have given here below, just have a look. What you are, so is your world. Everything in the universe is resolved into your own inward experience. It matters little what is without, for it is all a reflection of your own state of consciousness. It matters everything...

Healing diseases with thoughts and mind.
2007-07-27 16:45:00
I have always wondered how healing can cure the diseases. However, I do believe in the same.I know a friend who heals diseases with her thoughts and meditation. She says,"It comes out of pure dedication and Practise". Both the healer and the patient must believe that anything is possible by healing. Here is an article by Enoch Tan detailing about healing with thoughts. You can only heal the body by healing the consciousness. All diseases originate from within, and therefore can only be healed from within. Medicine only facilitates healing but it does not heal. What matters is not the medicine, but rather how you think of it. All disease that manifests in the outer, physical body has arisen from within the conscious or subconscious mind. They are the effects of your thoughts and feelings.Stress is the main cause of ?dis-ease? which results in a lack of ease in the mind and body. If you experience stress in your consciousness with your thoughts and emotions, it will manifest in your phys...

Finding your innerself - Self Awareness!
2007-07-26 16:57:00
Most of us think that we know about ourselves. We know our character, our talents, how we will behave to a given situation. But, the truth is we do not know who we are. It takes a lot of practice to find our real self. To our surprise, once we find our real self, we will be completely different from what we were prior to that. We will see a complete different personality of which we would have been unaware of all this time. It gives you immense pleasure to find out who you really are. Here below is a thought from Judith Hamerlinck. In the course of your life you have developed a personality. During your upbringing, school, training, but also in normal interactions with the people around you. This personality reacts on signals from his surroundings according to a pattern that is successful to him, and he tries to get and maintain a certain position in that world. Successful can be either positive or negative, negative attention is also a form of success for a personality.Within you t...

What happens after we die?Does our mind play any role?
2007-07-25 18:35:00
I always wanted to know what really happens after we die. It is one subject that no one has come up with a concrete answer. I have been going through few articles here and there to enlighten my knowledge on this. Also I admire psychics and their abilities. Here below Have quoted one of the articles I came across which tells us about a coma mind and a mind which has gone through a near death experience. Have a quick read and let me know what you think about these experiences. Also do let me know if you have had one. This is an article by Stephen Piperno, a psychic.A head injury is often the cause of someone slipping into a coma. It might have been caused by a car accident or a sudden blow to the head. Patients that have awoken after several months and years of being in a coma often tell the living that they did not experience anything out of the ordinary. They often tell their friends and family that it felt as though they were sleeping. Most coma victims do not recall any brightly li...

New Ways to Stress Less!
2007-07-24 19:36:00
We all have stress. We undergo both mental and physical stress in our day to day life.It is very important that we take good care of ourselves. We must handle stress very carefully. If we miss in this part,we may as well mess with our lives. There are a lot of sources for stress.Home,Office, School (of course they give stress in their own way to children) are vital sources of str ess. Here below, I have quoted an article by Jane Meredith Adams, where she has given her thoughts on how to handle stress.I found it very useful.Hope you all do too.I have close, meaningful relationships with espresso brownies, cold beer, and reruns of The West Wing. Until recently, it hadn?t occurred to me that these paramours are, in fact, three of the major players in my stress-management strategy. Hey, I wasn?t even aware I had a stress-management strategy. And this, according to the American Psychological Association (APA), is exactly the problem.?We do things to manage stress all the time,? says Russ Newm...

Overcome Frustration with your MIND!
2007-07-23 20:49:00
Hi people...I know it?s been long time...Now that I'll be able to share with you my views on a regular basis let me start with frustrations...We all know frustration is a slow poison. Once we open our door for it to join our life, it'll become the master and you'll loose every beautiful second of your life. Everyone gets frustrated at one point of time. Usually when we reach your saturation point in any activity that we are forced to do. Frustration s can happen at work, at home and even with our relationships. Why do we get frustrated? It?s very simple. When something happens continuously in a way against our thoughts! We generally expect a lot from our life. We want to be rich. We want to have all the luxuries in life. We want our love. We want and want many things in life. When our wants turns us down, we feel frustrated and lose hopes and there?s the starting of our end!Our thoughts are the key factor for our frustration. When we realize this, we can surely overcome them wit...

How to meditate?
2007-05-08 20:34:00
Before starting meditation, ideally we need to take care of a few things: - a quiet place (using music is nice for relaxing, but not really meditation), switching off the phone will help. - make sure you are not too tired, early morning is generally said to be the best time. - sit comfortable; most people like a cushion under their behind, the room is best not too warm or cold. - wear loose, comfortable clothing.- try to create continuity in time and place to become habituated to the circumstances of meditation. The Body: - keeping the back straight, in whichever posture you meditate is most essential. - try to be comfortable and physically relaxed, and avoid moving too much.- keep the head straight, slightly bent forward, keep the teeth slightly apart, the tip of the tongue against the upper pallet. - the eyes are best kept half-open (without really looking), but many beginners find that too distracting and close them. - the shoulders should be relaxed and the hands can be put in ...

2007-05-06 01:06:00
Now for the second part... How to spot symptoms of emotional infection The following is a checklist for managers to use to discover whether their colleagues or staff may have a predisposition towards catching emotional infection.Does the person seem to display these traits or behaviours? *Always seems to act overloaded or rushed*Overly competitive, or very hard driving*Tries to do more than one thing at a time*Over reacting*Critical and judgemental attitude*Rigidity/by the book*Inability to work well with others*Poor time management*Creates tension in others*Poor communication*Unable to complete tasks*Intolerant or lacks respect for others*Crisis oriented*Too controlling In general, if the person has been rated with a lot of the above behaviours, he or she has a predisposition towards catching emotional infection. The Power of Thought and How to Create Your Desired Reality
2007-05-02 15:32:00
What's a thought? It's pure energy! It can be focused or scattered. How powerful is this energy? What does this unseen energy do for us or against us?Just by thinking something can we change our lives?Where do thoughts come from?If we didn't already have some knowledge about things, could we get thoughts about them?A thought is the product of metal activity, an idea, notion or opinion. Wow, this could be complicated, so let's simplify it.I'd like to take you on a trip into the world of thought.A thought is an energy form that starts in our brain. It doesn't stay in our brain because it's energy and the minute we think it, it leaves us, like a radio wave. So we can forget what we just thought or we can take that idea and manifest it into reality.Science is proving that our brain is like a generator of power. It doesn't know right from wrong or good from bad; that's up to our consciousness and sub-conscious. Our brain only knows it's supposed to do two things.Put energy into i...

How Telepathy Works
2007-04-30 17:44:00
Humans used telepathy everyday until we learned how to talk, then write, and now we have phones, email, and many other ways to keep in touch with each other. Because we use these other forms of communication more, we have been re-programmed to ignore telepathy as a way of communication even though it's faster than any other form of communication we have. But the good news is ? telepathy is alive and well if we just acknowledge it. It's a built in communication system we can't get rid of no matter how hard we try! Tele pathy is the basic communication for all animals and humans if we don't block it. As science is proving, everything on Earth has its own energy vibration or frequency. Every color, sound and living being has its own vibration. If you have a piano and a guitar sitting next to each other and you hit the ?C? cord or string on either of them, the other one will start to vibrate because both C cords or strings have the same vibration. So when you're thinking of Uncle Fre...

Mental Telepathy...its not just the words we say!
2007-04-27 16:35:00
Hey guys!!! heres an article from Shirley Scott on telepathy...I found it very interesting...so guess what??? Iam sharing it ... There is always a conversation going on ? either with yourself or others. If this was not so, the brain would be dead and so would you. When we, as humans, talk about communication, we almost always take it for granted that it means talking to someone or writing something down. But there are many other ways we communicate that we don't even think about. We have sign language, frowns, smiles, stares, raised eyebrows and far too much other body language signs to even mention. However, another thing we use that most of us are not aware of is telepathy.Tele pathy is that small quiet voice that tells us to call Uncle Joe. It can be a thought or picture in our heads that tells us something's wrong. Telepathy is a form of energy that is a natural connection to our survival and communication instincts. We've all experienced it and the simplest way to tell you ho...

How about a Chakra test?
2007-04-19 23:18:00
Hey people....long time since I have posted.I thought it'll be interesting for you to take a chakra test and get to know the activation level of your chakras. Assuming that you all are aware of chakras go and take the chakra test HERE!For those who are new to chakra CLICK HERE! to know more about them! What do the chakras mean?1 - Root chakra The Root chakra is about being physically there and feeling at home in situations. If it is open, you feel grounded, stable and secure. You don't unnecessarily distrust people. You feel present in the here and now and connected to your physical body. You feel you have sufficient territory. If you tend to be fearful or nervous, your Root chakra is probably under-active. You'd easily feel unwelcome. If this chakra is over-active, you may be very materialistic and greedy. You're probably obsessed with being secure and resist change.2 - Sacral chakraThe Sacral chakra is about feeling and sexuality. When it is open, your feelings flow freely, and a...

Overcoming Fear - You can !
2007-04-03 04:26:00
Studies have shown that rats with damaged amygdalas will walk right up to cats [ref]. Most of us aren't too keen on the prospect of going at our amygdala with an ice pick, though. So scientists are exploring other ways to overcome fear.Fear extinctionWhereas Little Albert learned to fear white rats in the 1920s, rats learned to fear a simple noise more than 80 years later. Scientist Mark Barad of UCLA performed an experiment in which he and his team combined a noise with an electric shock. They would play the tone and then immediately apply a shock to the metal floor of the rats' cage. It was classical conditioning, and it didn't take long for the rats to brace themselves for the shock as soon as they heard the sound. At that point, their amygdalas paired the sound with the shock, and the sound created a fear response. The researchers then began the process of fear-extinction training, in which they made the sound but did not apply the shock. After hearing the sound very often wi...

Why do we get scared? A look at the main emotion associated with Halloween
2007-03-27 06:23:00
What makes you scared? And I am not talking about when your heart starts to race or freaking out when you realize that you have a test in your class that you didn't even know about. I am talking about the kind of scared when you realize that you may not make it out of a situation with all your appendages. I know that on a daily basis people are not faced with this kind of a situation. So what is it that causes fear in humans? According to the Journal of Personality and Soci al Psychology, fear is an emotion that brings about a reaction in us that is called "fight or flight." This term refers to the moment when you realize that you are in danger and you can either run for your life or stay and face your fear. Physiologically our bodies go through a number of reactions that prepare us for battle, or running really fast. The next time you get scared, check your heart rate. In most normal people the heart rate increases to deliver more blood to your lungs and brain. This assists in quic...

How to Unwind - Guided Meditation for Work or School
2007-03-23 04:54:00
Sitting at your desk and feeling stressed? Stop what you are doing - let your arms hang at your sides and wiggle them around a few times to get the circulation going, or rest them on your thighs and close your eyes. Beginning at your feet and working up to your face alternately tighten and relax your muscles. Allow yourself to stay in this relaxed state while you begin to breathe in and out evenly such as this: breathe in 2 counts; breathe out 2 counts; breathe in 2 counts; and continue. Remain silent and still for a minute. Now, stop counting breaths but keep up the even rhythmic breathing, and visualize yourself in a safe and nourishing place in your life; perhaps a happy event from your childhood. You are there again and enjoying yourself. Remembering. After a few minutes come back to the present moment, stretch out; relaxed, renewed.Source: www.bellaonline.com

Lucid Dreaming
2007-03-20 04:49:00
So why should a dream worker or someone just interested in his or her own dreams care about the science of dreaming? There are several reasons. The first is that if you work with the meaning of dreams you will eventually be confronted by someone who will tell you that science has found that dreams are random and have no meaning and are nothing but the mind getting rid of garbage. Is this really what science really has found? If so, what on earth are we doing when we comment on the meaning of dreams, why talk about it at all? Understanding what dreaming science is about will allow you to not only come to your own conclusions on this, but can also lead to new discoveries and techniques in dream sharing.Lucid dreaming, for example, has come about in part due to some clever people utilizing dream science studies on REM and realizing that if the eyes move during dreams, that we could use them to signal from the dream state. Also, Pre-sleep stimulus experiments help us understand and deve...

Overcoming Discouragement
2007-03-14 04:36:00
The below is an article by Scott H Young about overcomming discouragement...I felt it very useful and hence thought of sharing it with you all.Its a good one and dont forget to read this!Life is full of failures, rejection and more than a fair share of discouragement. I believe that the difference in how persistent people are often comes down to how they handle the discouragement that comes from the same situation. While some people can immediately brush themselves off, others can enter a negative cycle of thoughts that persists for weeks, months or even years. How you handle discouragement affects your ability to take new risks and chances that could have huge benefits. The root word of discouragement is courage so it should only make sense that the feelings associated with failure and rejection often try to deal a blow to your inner source of courage. Unfortunately, these emotions can cripple you to the point where you avoid taking small risks that have huge potential rewards.Negat...

More on Telekinesis
2007-03-12 05:50:00
Psychokinesis (PK) - sometimes referred to as telekinesis or mind over matter - is the ability to move things or otherwise affect the property of things with the power of the mind. Of psychic abilities, true psychokinesis is one of the rarest. Few have been able to demonstrate this ability, and even those demonstrations are highly contested by the skeptics. Do people have psychokinetic powers? Do you? Is there a way you can test and develop your PK abilities? How Does It Work? How psychokinesis works is unknown for certain, but many parapsychologists think that it is a demonstration of the physical influence of a person's brain on the physical world.Robert L. Shacklett at Speculations about PK says that laboratory tests demonstrate that "the release of relatively large amounts of physical energy can be triggered by thought power." And this power can move or influence things, essentially, because cosmologically we are all connected to everything else. "'Thought' takes place at a dif...

Kundalini is our creative energyKundalini is imagined as a coiled serpent lying asleep at the base of our spine.Kundalini is the dormant energy within us that expands our awareness.Kundalini is the greatness of which we are each capable. When we tap our Kundalini what do we become aware of?We become aware of our creative capacities and our radiant caliber. We become aware of our finite relationship with infinity.Kundalini makes it possible for us as humans with finite identities to relate to our infinite identities. What makes it possible to experience Kundalini energy? When the glandular system is activated and the nervous system is strong the energies of the two systems combine to create a movement or flow in the spinal fluida sensitivity in th...

Mental Patterns - Emotional Mastery (Series)
2007-03-01 05:32:00
This is an article by Scott H Young on Energy Management. This is good and I thought of sharing it with you all.My first contact with fellow blogger, Phil Gerbyshak was when I posted a fairly in-depth comment about how I felt that energy management and time management were independent of each other and that both should be used fully. I also hinted towards my bias that time management was a superior philosophy for peak productivity rather than energy management.I was wrong. I admit it. I must say I used to fall into the camp that believed that essential organization of time and priorities was the critical factor to overall productivity and performance. Time management has been an increasingly popular subject with many different techniques designed to help you organize your time in a manner that confers the greatest possible productive capacity. By carefully organizing your goals, objectives and priorities you could plan out the day for maximum efficiency.Unfortunately, reality doesnâ...

The Energy Vortices Of The Body
2007-03-01 05:25:00
Here we have more on chakras....You may wonder why I am giving more importance to chakras...its because they are the vital sources of energy and which helps us to realise ourselves. They are hard to understand and master...so increase your knowledge about them before trying to master them.Good luck!Chakras are the energy vortices at a sub-atomic level of your spiritual body. They are the spiritual DNA holding the trace memories from past lives and act as the input centers for the cells of the body. The chakras are the physical manifestation of the soul in the human body. Simply put, the Chakras are the Soul in a physical sense. The system used in my tradition is based on Tibetan understandings and practices for several thousand years. This system locates the centers in the following way:Pineal (Crown, 1st vortex)Located at the top of the head. Also known as the "crown chakra" it represents the beginning. The connection to the cosmic consciousness. The fastest spinning center, this ch...

The Healing Circle

How Illness Manifests? Our own thought patterns effect the health of our body. Each emotional thought pattern is really an underlying "cause" of a physical illness. Understanding the illness can help you address the cause and thereby riding the body of the disease. That doesn't mean that you can forgo mainstream medicine all together. Sometimes when you don't listen to the messages of your body; the issue progresses and requires medical attention. These metaphysical concepts can help you understand why the illness formed, and how you can include metaphysical practices to help support the medical treatment from your physician. There are many books on the market that describe this system of belief and understanding, but for me, one of the best books on the market for healers is called "Heal Your Body" by Louise Hay, from Hay House Publishing. Ms. Hay has created one if not the definitive source for emotional causes, their corresponding illness and a metaphysical affirmation to help ...

Concentration
2007-02-28 05:07:00
Here is a bunch of Concentration and of New Birth. To concentrate for developing the intelligence, for developing the inborn faculties which are hidden within ourselves. To concentrate means to find oneself. It is the quest, the means to follow. It is the shortest way to get anything. One only has to concentrate - but deep within - and toe! you get the thing, the word, the idea, the feeling, the place you want to discover, the plane of consciousness, and with perseverance and a constant effort, find the Self and the soul. To concentrate in order to find the soul. With the help of concentration, one can achieve everything. But one has to know how to concentrate, and each plane has a certain level of concentration. To know how to concentrate is to acquire the power to withdraw from all other things except the one thing you wish to achieve. Do you know what you should do? To start with: you sit before a wall and say to yourself: "Let my mind be as white as the wall.''...
