Quick Tips: Refresh your Eyes
2008-03-06 13:03:00
My recent post on how to protect your eye sights in today’s digital age has lead me to find out more about eye care. Working at a computer for more than five hours a day can inevitably cause tired eyes, eye irritation and other eye problems. From my previous post, I did mentioned that blinking is one of the method that help to protect the eyes. This is because blinking help coats the surface of your eyes with tears, keeping them moist and protected against dust. In case you are experiencing severe eye irritation or dryness, try these two simple massages that can help to stimulate the tear ducts that moisten and refresh your eyes. If you wear contact lenses, be sure to remove them first. Massage Technique #1 1. Rub hands together to warm them up. 2. Rest your elbows on a table and cup hands over both eyes, with heels of palms on cheeks. 3. Take a few deep breath, then move hands higher and gently apply light pressure to each eye with the heel of the palm. 4. Hold for a moment t...

Treat Your Feet to Some Tender Loving Care
2008-03-05 11:39:00
by Shreelata Suresh Our feet are often the least pampered parts of our bodies. Here are some suggestions from ayurveda, the ancient science of healing from India, for taking care of your feet on a regular basis: 1. During your pre-bath ayurvedic massage (abhyanga), pay special attention to your feet. Massage the feet, each toe, the ankles, the heels and the soles in turn with the warm oil, gently stretching the feet and toes as you massage them and using circular motions around your ankles and heels. (Pat excess oil off your soles with paper towels before you step into the bath or shower and watch your step because oil can be slippery). This daily foot massage enhances lubrication and circulation, and helps draw toxins to the surface for release. Using massage oil that has been fortified with nourishing ayurvedic herbs provides added support to help keep your feet strong and flexible. 2. During your bath or shower, let your feet enjoy warm water for a few minutes, then cleanse with...

Feet Care Tips
2008-03-02 04:32:00
by Juliet Cohen Our feet is another important area to take care of apart from our face, hands and body. The feet area is easily prone to cuts, dehydration, line, rough surface, corns, skin cracks and joint pain. Here are some tips you should try to apply daily or at least on alternate days. In the evening, pour some warm water into a basin, spacious enough to place your both foot onto it, amount of water about slightly more than half of the basin. Add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt, allow to dissolve in the water, then place both foot down. Rest for 20 minutes, you may take a short nap, watch your favorite television program or even have a facial masque on for relaxation and winding down. Another easier way is just by using plain warm water without any other ingredient. To remove strong feet odor, add a few drops of tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil or lemongrass oil onto a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 20 minute daily instead of using salt. These essential oils...

So this really make every drop of this rose mist a precious one.
What is a Panic Attack?
2008-02-27 09:35:00
by Jon Rhodes What is a panic attack? It is normal, natural and common to get panicky from time to time. You may be late for work, think you can hear a burglar downstairs, or be ready to sit an exam. These feelings are normal and pass fairly quickly. They are simply down to our ?flight or fight? responses that our body has been equipped with to prepare for potentially threatening situations. The heart beats quicker and the digestive system closes down in order to allow the body to concentrate on the perceived threat. A panic attack has similarities with this, but there are notable differences. A panic attack often occurs when there is no obvious physical threat, and the feelings are stronger than ?normal? panic. However panic attacks are not dangerous and therefore nothing bad is actually going to happen to you. It is very important that you accept this. It is simply like a false alarm ? like an annoying smoke detector that goes off at the wrong times. The problem is that our ?alarm...

Summer is the perfect time to savor delicious berry desserts. In Australia, the berries are in season. This means you can find strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries in abundance and at lower price :) I always love seasons like this because I can enjoy my berries to the fullest. Not only these little fruit with vibrant colour is tasty but they are also highly packed with anti-oxidant. Antioxidants are vital to our health as it helps to neutralize free radicals in our bodies and may slow processes associated with aging. Nutritionists recommend that we consume around 5,000 ORAC units per day to significantly impact antioxidant activity in the body and reduce free radical damage but in reality, many people struggle to eat the recommended amount. I reckon the easiest way to consume your antioxidants is through delicious desserts. This is because everyone loves dessert and sweet-mouth-watering-super-good-tasty desserts are too hard to resists. Grilled Salmon Recipes
2008-01-24 09:28:00
by Piotr Lebiedzinski I am going to share here two of my much loved grilled salmon recipes and some tips for beginners in the art of grilling. Salmon is a really delicious on grill. Salmon is an excellent source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids, selenium, niacin, vitamin B12, phosphorus, magnesium and vitamin B6. Fatty acids are essential for human health but because they cannot be made by the body, they must be obtained from foods. My grandmother used to say that what is good for your health usually tests terrible. I’m sure it’s not true in case of salmon. Salmon is also quite easy to grill even if you are not an experienced cook. Using tips presented below one can be sure of his success as a cook. * Leave the skin on the fish. It will prevent charring the meat. * Brush the salmon with olive oil. It will bring out the taste and will not let the fish dry out. You can even brush it again during the cooking. * Season to taste according to the recipe. * Prepare the grill...

Did you know your Blood Ph Levels could be keeping you in Pain?
2008-01-19 09:22:00
By Jesse Cannone, CFT, CPRS Remember the litmus test from high school chemistry lab? You stuck a small strip of litmus paper into a solution, and if it turned red, it meant the solution was acidic. If it turned blue, the solution was basic (alkaline). Well, the body has its own sort of litmus test: It?s called your pH level. And many health care professionals consider a balanced pH level to be the key to good health. The term pH stands for Potential Hydrogen, which is the concentration of hydrogen ions in a substance or solution. The pH range is 0 to 14. Human blood pH is ideally 7.35. Higher numbers indicate alkalinity; lower numbers indicate acidity. Constricted muscles The body simply cannot tolerate extended acid imbalances. In the early stages of an imbalance, symptoms may include such things as skin eruptions, headaches, allergies, colds and flu, and sinus problems. As things get further out of kilter, weakened systems start to give way. If tissue pH deviates too far to the ac...

PMS And Back Pain
2008-01-12 09:50:00
By Jesse Cannone, CFT, CPRS It’s no secret that many women suffer through their monthly periods, experiencing cramps, bloating, and lower back pain, to name just a few. But a large number of them?estimated at anywhere from 30 to 90 percent?also endure the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Most women feel some discomfort before their periods. But if you have PMS, you may feel so anxious, depressed, or uncomfortable that you can’t cope at home or at work. What causes PMS? No one know for sure what causes PMS or why some months are worse than others, but PMS is often linked to the changes in hormone levels that happen during a woman’s menstrual cycle. PMS is not caused by stress or psychological problems, though these may make the symptoms worse. “We probably don’t get nearly enough magnesium from out diet,” says Dr. Carolyn Dean, who specializes in managing and healing commonly misdiagnosed and chronic conditions such as hormone imbalance, an...
