Psoriasis
2008-05-03 18:01:00 You know what? It was really quite an amazing experience when I was able to encounter a patient with psoriasis. It's amazing because it's my first time to see a patient with that disorder and this kind of disorder is very rare and doesn't really occur with Filipinos.Anyway, psoriasis is a "chronic, non-contagious disease characterized by inflamed lesions covered with silvery-white scabs of dead skin (www.answers.com)" just like the picture above.At first I didn't really think that the disorder was contagious or something like that. I was reluctant to touch the patient and aid him in going down and up his bed because he had scaly white skin and lesions all over his body and he was obese, so he was very heavy to carry. Overpopulation = Poverty = Crime

In the Philippines, the country where I grew up in, the population of the poor people outnumbers the rich and the working class. Filipinos has this old belief that the more children they have, the more number of people will work to take them out for poverty. Well I say that this notion is outrageous! Children are not there to make your life better, it is actually the other way around. It is parents who should work hard to prepare and provide for the coming of their child so that they can support the child's needs and provide him/her with a bright future.But how could parents who can barely provide for themselves be able to support a child and send him/her to college? If they can't support one how on earth could they support a dozen children? And so the vicious cycle of poverty occurs and poverty is never solved.I do not feel pity for families who are very large in number and are suffering. Having a family is a vocation... And she was quite proud of herself and happy with the whole experience. How do you do CPR again?
2008-04-16 12:25:00 Lately what I feared the most had happened. I was sitting in front of my computer happily blogging when all of the sudden I thought, "How do you do CPR again?" And that's when it hits me, my being out of the clinical area for one month has weakened my thinking ability and I now forgot how to do Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. And to think I even had a Basic Life Support training that I had from Red Cross.But there's no need in crying over spilled milk, I have to review and reacquire that skill which I believed I was already good at. So how do you perform CPR? We all had tried swimming in deep waters and then our muscles give up or worst we get a cramp. Being an Ultrasound Technician

You see I really wish to pursue a career in nursing but I guess that I'm sort of having difficulties achieving that goal since I'm transferring to another university in another country and my credits in my Bachelor of Science might not be credited and I might go back to first year. Nurse No-Duty

I went to Xavier University to get my recommendation letter (which my CI did not give to me yet huhuhu, but it's ok ^_^) and I met some of my classmates and friends. They were just from duty and boy did they look so haggard and stress looking.Imagine 4 days straight of duty and on two days of those days you have to sleep late into the night to finish requirements for the next day. So you get to sleep at around 1:00 am and you have to wake up at 5:30 am. I still don't have a clear picture of who I will be in the future but I am definite that I will be in the health care industry someday. Upon checking out many health-related careers I had my eye on being a pharmacy technician.So what are the job responsibilities of a pharmacy tech? Quite simple really, pharmacy technicians assist licensed pharmacists. In the hospital setting, after the patient's meds are checked by the licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy tech delivers it to the patient. Harsh CI Love

There are CI's who are very friendly, there are CI's who you admire so much for their intelligence and skills, but the CI's that you might want to get away from are the "terror" CI's with matching tiger-looks hahaha!Who are these "terror" CI's? They are the ones who will not hesitate to shout at you in public, fail you, and even throw heavy steel patient charts (you must evade to avoid serious injury hehehe). But I understand why CI's may sometimes be strict and uptight. This is because their hard-earned professional license is on the line. Please Honor the Milk Code!

Being a Medical X-Ray Technician

This isn't a big wonder since being a nurse drains so much out of you, your physical, mental, and even emotional aspect are all exhausted. Even I maybe thinking of pursuing another medical career if I get tired of nursing (hopefully not).But if ever I do get tired of nursing there is one job that I can see myself someday. And that is being a medical x-ray technician. It's quite fascinating how you operate these radiologic equipments plus those MRI and CT Scans. Being an x-ray technician is also less stressful and the pay is also very good!
