The Life Giving Qualities of Green Tea
2007-02-08 03:34:02 If you would like to live a longer life, consider swapping the cup of coffee or tea for a cup of Green Tea. Green Tea contains more of the antioxidants that protects against heart disease and cancer than black tea and contains only about 25% of the caffeine that you would find in black tea. It improves cholesterol levels and research has shown that it may help prevent the thickening of the arteries, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes. In studies, it was found that breast cancer patients who drank at least four cups of green tea a day, before diagnosis, were a lot less likely to suffer a re-occurence of the disease after the treatment. It is reported that drinking green tea may also protect against skin cancer, pancreatic cancer and bladder cancer. If you are going to give it a go though, how do you drink it? Make it in hot but not boiling water, this protects its antioxidant qualities and gives it its best flavor. Brew lightly and if you use a teabag, do not squeeze. Marcia... Tabata Workouts
2007-02-06 15:31:02 Ever heard of Taba ta? A lot of people haven’t but it is a fitness craze that is sweeping the country and is starting to catch on throughout the world. It is named after Izumi Tabata, phd. a former researcher at Japan’s National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya. It is an interval routine that was developed by the coach of the Japanese speed- skating team to give his team an edge in competition. It has evolved slightly and there are now many so called ‘experts’ out there, many of them are trying to claim the idea as their own, and because they have changed it so it is 20% different to the original idea, they are confusing people and they end up not using it to its maximum capability. So what is it? What is an ‘interval routine’? It is a workout based on short sharp bursts of energy, for example the speed skaters coach had his team members sprint six to seven 20-second full speed sprints, interspersed with rest periods of only 10 seconds. Explaining Cholesterol
2007-02-06 15:31:02 What is Cholesterol ? Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance that is made in the body by the liver. Cholesterol forms a part of every cell in the body and serves many key functions. The body needs cholesterol to maintain healthier cell walls, assist in production of hormones, produces vitamin D and helps make bile acids. Having too much cholesterol in your blood is not a disease in itself but it can lead to the narrowing and hardening of the arteries in the major vascular system. Did you know there are 2 types of Cholesterol? The ‘Good’ cholesterol is High-density lipoproteins (HDL), they help to reduce tissue cholesterol and take it back to the liver where it belongs, they also help protect against narrowing of the arteries. The ‘Bad’ cholesterol is Low-density lipoproteins (LDL). These cause disease of the arteries, that can lead to cardiovascular diseases. It is the proportion of LDL’s to HDL’s that influence the degree which, the narrowing a... More About: Plain , Hole , Este , Holes

Do You Suffer with Rosacea?
2007-02-05 21:29:03 Perhaps you have never heard of it but Rosa cea affects millions of men and women around the world. It is a skin condition that causes facial flushes, redness, spots, dry or inflamed eyes and skin thickening. It is reported that embarrassment is the worst part of this condition but usually effects women more than men and also strikes later in life. You are more likely to suffer if you have fair hair and potentially it will be worse in the summer as sunlight is a trigger. Other triggers include alcohol, spicy food, strenuous exercise, stress, hot drinks and extremes of hot and cold. Many sufferers report that they struggle to control Rosacea and very few actually cure it completely. I have completed a search on the net and have only come up with one realistic remedy that I would recommend. It is a UK based company but they will ship to the US. The Dangers of Yo-Yo Dieting
2007-02-05 09:28:01 Large fluctuations in your weight can cause many problems but yo-yo-ing your weight back and forth can be a lot more dangerous. Here are a few of the problems that can be caused by losing weight this way. Brittle Bones. It is said that fad diets are potentially going to cause an increase in Osteoporosis as todays under 35’s grow old. People on low fat diets, quite often cut out dairy and dieticians worry that because of the loss of calcium in the diet, that this will increase the problem. I however though am not sure whether I agree, I have not touched dairy for over 5 years and to be honest I have never felt better. My replacement for calcium intake is in plenty of green leafy vegetables and fresh fish. Exercise is also an absolute must, to take away the worry of brittle bones. Running and aerobics are the best types as they assist in bone strengthening. Muscle Loss. Crash dieting will lose you muscle density as well as losing fat. The problem with this is that as you then ba... More About: Diet , Anger , Danger , Dieting , The D
