Night out
2008-05-25 12:19:00 The husband and I finally had a night out last night - lately we’ve been having to go out separately - the one staying at home has had to catch up on all the gossip the next day - we’ve discovered that we can then pretend that we were both there together! Anyway, we went off to the theatre and it was great but I only managed to enjoy the second half - the first was taken up with worrying about the daughter. It’s really quite annoying. You get dressed up, spend time with your lovely husband, sat in a lovely theatre but your mind is 20 miles away putting your daughter to bed! Our neighbour was looking after her. She’s a wonderful woman with a grandchild and childcare qualifications as long as my arm. I knew she’d be safe but I still fretted. I was much better for the second half. I called home during the interval and all was well - phew!!! I was much more relaxed and had a great time but I was so happy when I got home and found she was safe and well, fast... More About: Night

2008-04-23 16:26:00 Is it me or has everything become really expensive! I am absolutely skint and the daughter’s had to have new shoes. She had a pair of shoes and a pair of trainers - from Clarks - and it cost £50!! We are told as Mums that we MUST get our tots feet measured every few weeks but it’s so bloody expensive! They don’t make it easy for us do they? I nearly fell through the floor when the cashier told me I had to pay £50 and then she had the cheek to try and sell me the shoe creams that would be best to protect them! I used to work in a shoe shop and I know for a fact that they get commission on selling what is known in the industry as “sundries”. When I worked in a shoe shop I was only a teenager and I used to hate asking people to buy the creams - hardly anyone bought them anyway. The husband really annoyed me though - even though she’s gone up a shoe size and HAD to have new shoes, he decided she didn’t! He said she wasn’t crying in pain... 2008-02-20 11:40:00 The daughter has had an absolutely fantastic weekend. She’s been dancing, dancing, dancing. In the words of that amazing film “Dirty Dancing ” - she gets that from me y’know! The husband would laugh at this as he says I dance like I’m having a poo - how he can say that when he just stands around clapping I don’t know! Anyway, we went to a neighbour’s birthday party and the daughter had an absolute ball. The neighbour had arranged for the festivities to begin at 5 so people could bring their kids - I thought this was really thoughtful of her. The daughter was up constantly. Sweet girl
2008-01-16 11:52:00 I took the daughter to see a friend of mine who has a two month old baby the other day. She was so sweet with him my heart was just melting! I do get quite emotional, stupid really but the smallest thing can make me start bawling! The other day she just sat nicely in her mother and toddler group and that started me off - sad aren’t I! She was so good with this baby though. At one point he was crying and she was stroking his head saying “aaaahhh”. Then she had his blanket and was trying to wrap him in it. The only problem with that is she doesn’t quite understand that you’re not supposed to put the blanket over his head! His mother would kill me!! She was even handing over her new toys to him. I thought that was really sweet and proved to me that she will share. You see, I know she can occassionally say “mine” but on the whole she’s a good girl.
