Wintertime Potty Training
2007-02-07 23:03:00 Potty Training In The Winter time WeatherHave you ever noticed that just as you get your child ready to go out to play in the snow you hear these words, "I have to go potty."? Now you have to take all the layers of clothing off just to find that he couldn’t wait and now he is wet. There is a solution to this little problem that causes much frustration. Take a diaper or pull-up and put it on your child over the top of his underwear. This will protect his clothes from getting wet if he can’t wait to get to the potty.Usually is what happens, when the child feels the cold air this causes his body to react by making him need to use the potty. By placing a diaper or pull-up on over the underwear the outer clothes are protected and the child doesn’t have to go in immediately to be changed. You don’t have to be frustrated and your child can still feel like a big kid even if he doesn’t make it to the potty in time.By having the underwear under the diaper or pull-up your child will st... Through The Eyes Of A Child
2007-01-31 01:35:00 The Eyes Of A Child I read a quote that said: "There are not seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million." Walt StreightiffIt is fun to see what new and exciting things my two year olds can find each day. They always surprise me by what they discover.Today while I was taking children to the potty they noticed one of the children in the nursery. They love to say hello to the children in the nursery. The two children I had with me became so excited to see one of the teachers holding a little girl in her arms. They were fascinated by her eyes and how she smiled. She smiled so big she dropped her pacifier. She didn't seem to mind. She just smiled at the two little boys who were talking to her. They were so into talking to her I had to remind them they were on their way back to class for snack.Just think how much fun life would be for all of us if we just took time to see the world like a child. Not only should we view our world like a child we should also t... More About: Through , The Eye
Goals of Potty Training
2007-01-30 20:20:00 No More Diapers! When potty training, what is it you are really trying to accomplish? For most people it is No more diapers! When you listen to Janice's Potty training tips to Lysa, you will hear her suggest to demonstratecommitment to potty training by having her child help her gather up and discard all the diapers in the house.Like Lysa, many of you will think that is a drastic step to take. However, this step helps to demonstrate that you are accepting success as the only option. With the right method, attitude and coaching, you cannot fail. Most goals coaches like myself teach their students to take action as if achieving your goal was a sure thing. If you truly believe that your desire to potty train your child is going to be a reality, be prepared to take the bold step of discarding all the diapers.Just make sure you are prepared for success. Without the right preparations, tossing the diapers is just wishful thinking and you are doomed for a messy failure. So prepare yourself wi... More About: Training , Goa , Rain , Goals , Train

"PooPoo" Sucker
2006-12-27 23:23:00 Funny StoryToday while I had two of my daycare children at the potty, one of them started telling me that she would get a big sucker from her parents when she learned to poop in the potty. Although many parents give their children rewards for using the potty this became humorous when she informed me that she would get a "poopoo" sucker for pooping in the potty.I had to control the laughing because she was serious about this discussion. As I know many children say the funniest things especially when they are learning to use the potty, and I thought this was one of the funniest. What are some of the funny things you have heard your child say about using the potty? Little Boys Need To Have Confidence When Potty Training
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Make Your Child Feel ConfidentI have a little boy in my class who has just started wearing "big boy" underwear. At first he wasn?t sure that he liked wearing underwear to daycare. He had been sick for a few days just before his parents decided to take him out of diapers. So not only had he been sick and missed a few days of daycare but now he had to give up his security of wearing diapers. When he came back to daycare he wanted to go home. He had to get used to being in daycare again. He also wanted to take his pull-ups home with him. What we decided to do was to let him wear a pull up at daycare until he was secure being with us again. He finally decided he didn?t want to wear a pull-up. He ended up not making it to the potty in time and he wet his clothes. This seemed to upset him and all he would say is Mommy and Daddy won?t be proud.I told him that his Mommy and Daddy would still be proud of him for doing his best and staying dry. This calmed him and allowed him to relax. His Dadd... More About: Training , Rain , Train , Potty Training , Confidence
Potty Train And Get Rid Of Diapers
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Ready To Get Out Of Diaper s Today I had something that was cute and funny in my class. This is the class where we spend a big part of the time potty training. It is during these times that funny little things happen.Today I had a little girl wake up from naptime to inform me that she no longer would need to have her diaper changed. She was now going to use the potty and not her pull-up. Now this wasn?t out of the ordinary for her to make this statement. However, a few minutes later she was by my side jumping from one foot to the other on her toes saying, "I need to pee-pee. Now!"I got another teacher to come to the room and take her to the potty, and believe it or not she actually was able to wait and hold her pee-pee until she got to the potty. This may not sound very funny to you, but if you have every had to go really bad and had no place to potty I?m sure you spent a little time bouncing back and forth on your toes also.I was proud that she tried so hard to not use her diaper. What To Do At Halloween
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Halloween FunHalloween is next week and the children are getting excited for their night of getting lots and lots of candy. However you are unsure about letting your little one approach someone on that night to say trick or treat. You are trying to teach your little one to stay away from strangers and now you are faced with Halloween the night you may remember when you were allowed to go door to door and ask for candy. What do you do? Nowadays many towns offer fun things for parents to do with their children on Halloween. Communities work to make this a safe and fun time by offering block parties on the Town Square. Neighbors get together to turn the neighborhood into a place where parents can bring their children and know that they will be safe and will receive lots of treats that are safe to eat. This is done in the town where I live. Each year thousands turn out for the block party where pickup trucks are lined up loaded with bags of candy, which has been donated by a local candy c... More About: Hat , Hall , Halloween , Lowe
A Cute Halloween Costume
2006-12-02 16:06:04 A cute costumeWe had a visitor in our daycare class today who told me of a cute Hall oween costume idea. She said she had a parent tell her about it. The parent took some blue material and covered it with white cottonballs. Then she gave her child a squirt can. When the child was asked what he was, he would squirt water out of the squirt can and then say, "I am a little cloudy with a slight chance of rain."I thought this was cute and it put a smile on my face. For more Halloween costume ideas check out this site.ILoveHalloweenCost ume s.com More About: Cute

Boys And Girls Want Attention
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Attention getterI have a child in my daycare class who likes to take things away from the other children and claim it as his very own. He especially likes to do this to one particular child. This child is a very quiet child and when the other child takes something from him he usually holds out his hand expecting to get back what he had.Sometimes the child will give the item back, but most of the time he watches for my reaction. If I intervene he will throw the item at the other child and then push the child out of his way or he will hit the other child. This of course gets him in time out, but it also gets him what I think he really wants and that is attention.Has your child ever done something whether you see it as good or bad just to get your attention? You usually will see this when there are two or more children in a family. What do you do? As a teacher I have to make sure that all the children are treated fair and that all the children get my attention some time during the day.... More About: Girls , Girl , Want , Boys , Attention
Where to stop when you need to go
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Free Potty finders travel guideWhen traveling with small children, especially those who are just getting the hang of potty training, you need to know where the restrooms are and how to access them quickly.I have found an interesting and helpful guide that you can get for free. This is a real travel guide by Arthur Frommer. It lists suggested sights to see in several large cities and more importantly where the public restrooms are located. He also gives tips on traveling in the major national forests and the locations of the restrooms there. I liked his tip about using a tree while hiking. I picked that one up years ago.You will have to register as someone who has urinary problems, but it is worth the trouble to get the guide. The guide comes in a fancy pouch that you can place in the glove box of your car. Obviously pharmaceutical companies have lots of money for advertising. Please don't consider this an endorsement for Novartis, but I do think their guide is worth the cost. Get ... Happiness Series
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Give the gift of happinessThe greatest gift you can give your spouse or others who live with you is your personal happiness. When you feel happy, you are filled with energy and vitality that radiates to others around you. Many people have been taught to feel that seeking personal happiness is a selfish act. Even if it is, it is nothing to feel guilty about.By choosing happy thoughts, you will be able to better serve those around you and serve them with happiness and joy. Your energy will be reflected back to you from those around you.In order to improve your feelings of happiness, you need to focus your thoughts on things that make you feel happy. One of the easiest exercises I know of to help improve your happiness is to go on a praise rampage.Make a list of things in your life that you are happy about and take a moment to praise God for bringing that thing into your life. Spend at least 20 seconds each hour of your workday to think of something new to give praise God for.Think... More About: Series , Happiness , Ness , Serie , Erie
How to be Happy - Exercise number 1
2006-12-02 16:06:04 Tantrums of thankfulnessOne of the best ways to improve your level of happiness is to throw a tantrum of thankfulness.Take a few minutes to think of as many things as you can that make you happy. Give thanks that these things are in you life.Write them down if you can. Play the game with your children. See who can make the longest list in a certain time period. If you are feeling sad in some compartment of your life, think of things in that compartment for which you can be thankful. Then, before you stop, think of things in other compartments that you are thankful for. While still in a state of thankfulness, go back to the compartment that is giving you trouble and think of at least one more thing in that compartment for which you are thankful.Allow the fleeing of thankfulness to be fully expressed. Use your voice, you hands, you feet; your whole body if you can. Have fun with it. Jump up and down, wave your arms, yell, sing, smile or dance around.Throwing a tantrum of thankfulness i...
