The guidelines, published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association, are based on a growing body of scientific evidence that shows that, for most people, the risks of taking prophylaxis antibiotics for certain procedures outweigh the benefits. These guidelines represent a major change in philosophy. The new guidelines show taking preventive antibiotics is not necessary for most people and, in fact, might create more harm than good. Just a quick post to enlighten our readers on a trick my Dentist told a patient the other day. Our little 7 year old patient has a tongue thrust that is causing her to lisp. It’s also changing the shape of her mouth causing her top teeth to protrude. Anyway, Here’s an exercise that can help to retrain the tongue: Take a tic-tac and place it in the roof of your mouth. Now swallow while keeping the tic-tac in place. Repeat this exercise as much as needed to retrain your tongue to stay back rather than push forward when swallowing.
