Burn Belly Fat With Exercise And Cardio
2007-07-12 22:16:00
Since I’ve been looking around today at other blog posts, I figured I’d show you another one… this one by Craig Ballantyne… author of Turbulence Training. Let just say that this is going to be another “reinforcement” post… the stuff that I try to tell you all of the time. Craig does mention that many of the magazines and books out there today have a severe disconnect when it comes to burning belly fat and the amount of time that most people have in their day to exercise. Most people just don’t have 90 minutes… 6-8 hrs/week to exercise. Therefore, a new mindset for most people is needed. I agree… here is Craig’s post… it’s a great read.

Fat Loss Trauma — My “Small” Experiment
2007-07-11 17:22:00
I’ve never done this before, although I’ve heard other people try. On Saturday, I decided to try something radical… NOT EAT. Okay, so I ate, but the calorie intake for the day was probably less than 800. I wanted to see how many days I could go at this level… and what it would feel like. How many days did I make it? A WHOLE 3 DAYS. I have never felt so awful in my life… okay… maybe if I was sick or something. Really, that’s what I felt like yesterday. I hurt all over… my workouts SUCKED… I felt like I was going to pass out. I honestly felt DEPRESSED. And I can honestly say… this is a horrible way to try to lose body fat. If you want to talk about willpower… there’s no better way to sap it than by feeling like crap… both in your body… and in your head. You start to ask yourself… is this even WORTH IT? Is it worth feeling this way? I wanted to absolutely PIG OUT last night&helli...

Ulcers Are No Laughing Matter
2007-07-11 16:55:00
(Guest article by David Grisaffi, author of Firm and Flatten Your Abs) Peptic ulcers, which are in the stomach and the duodenum (the first part of the intestine leading from the stomach) can occur at any age and affect both men and women. Untreated, sufferers can look forward to a long siege with them. But today’s peptic ulcer sufferers have a brighter prospect for relief than did those of even a single generation ago. There is now less than 1 chance in 18 that surgery will every be necessary and new medications act faster and better and offer more relief than ever before. The warning sign of active ulcers you will most likely experience (if you get any warning at all) is a gnawing discomfort in the middle or upper abdomen that typically comes between meals or in the middle of the night. Food or liquids, including antacids and milk, can provide some temporary relief, but milk might not be all that good a remedy since it stimulates production of hydrochloric acid and other dige...

Are You Fat, Broke, & Sick? Here’s Why
2007-07-11 16:41:00
(Guest article by Craig Ballantyne, author of Turbulence Training and TTMembers.com) What’s worse, getting paid less because you are overweight, or not getting paid at all because you’re sick from being overweight and can’t make it into work? I’m sure you wouldn’t want either option, but the bad news is that many overweight people are dealing with both situations. A study from Europe, published in the prestigious journal, Obesity, found being overweight and obese were accurate predictors of sick days from work. Obese individuals were found to have more long sickness-related absences from work even in young men and women. Chronic obesity resulted in the longest sick leaves, particularly in men. In order to avoid missing work and sacrificing profits, it’s a good idea to control your weight with exercise and nutrition. I truly believe nutrition is the most important factor in determining fat loss, and in terms of improving your health. Fortunately, i...

Is Your Post Workout Meal the Most Important Meal of the Day?
2007-07-11 16:27:00
(Guest post by Mike Geary, author of The Truth About Abs. I’ll be posting a review very soon… good stuff though.) I am sure you have heard previously that your post-workout meal is actually the most important meal of your day (aside from breakfast of course). I would have to agree with that assertion for the most part because refueling your body with the right combo of nutrients is so vastly important to repairing your muscles from the breakdown of a workout, and keeping your metabolic rate sky high. Here’s some recent research on post-workout meals: “A recent 12-week study says that those who failed to consume a post workout meal immediately after their workouts suffered a lower metabolism, loss of fat free mass, and had clear indications of muscle loss - while their counterparts (those who consumed a post workout recovery meal) significantly lost more fat, increased lean muscle, improved their metabolism, and increased dynamic strength.” I have not...

How To Get Brady Quinn’s Body
2007-07-10 15:02:00
(Guest article by Craig Ballantyne, author of Turbulence Training) Brady Quinn ’s workout was recently featured in Men’s Health magazine, and showed how he built his muscle mass and strength for football. Brady has the all-American physique, and you can have it too by using the same weight lifting methods. One of my jobs for Men’s Health is to film exercise videos. And recently, I filmed the exercises from Brady Quinn’s workout that was featured in the magazine. The weightlifting exercises in Brady’s workout include the front squat, the bench press, some dumbell rows and deadlifts, pullups, and even stability ball leg curls. These exercises are perfect for building a great, muscular physique as well as improving performance. You really have to see them performed properly to understand the benefits. According to Men’s Health, “Brady Quinn’s workout centers on exercises that build strength, stability, speed, and power in the least amount ...
