Revitalize Your Skin With Sugar Scrubs
2007-04-20 05:49:00
By: Stephanie Davies The whole world has gone wild over a new fad on the beauty market, sugar scrubs. If you haven't heard of, or tried a sugar scrub yet, you are in for a real treat! Sugar scrubs are comprised of several ingredients, the main being ? you guessed it ? sugar! The other ingredients in a sugar scrub may vary from company to company, but generally include deep moisturizing oils or butters such as Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, or Shea Butter. If sold commercially, the scrub will also contain a preservative of some sort, and usually fragrance and/or colorant. The reason sugar scrubs work so well is because of their dual action. When you rub the scrub into your skin, the fine sugar granules gently slough off dead skin cells on the top of the skin while the oils and butters provide deep moisturizing. The result is extremely soft, silky smooth skin that is both renewed and revitalized. There are a huge variety of sugar scrubs available on the market, with different ingre...

What is Soap?
2007-04-17 20:28:00
SoapFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia"Soap is a surfactant used in conjunction with water for washing and cleaning. It usually comes in a solid molded form, termed bars due to its historic and most typical shape. The use of thick liquid soap has also become widespread, especially from soap dispensers in public washrooms. Applied to a soiled surface, soapy water effectively holds particles in suspension so the whole of it can be rinsed off with clean water. In the developed world, synthetic detergents have superseded soap as a laundry aid. Many soaps are mixtures of sodium (soda) or potassium (potash) salts of fatty acids which can be derived from oils or fats by reacting them with an alkali (such as sodium or potassium hydroxide) at 80 ? 100 °C in a process known as saponification. The fats are hydrolyzed by the base, yielding glycerol and crude soap. Historically, the alkali used was potassium hydroxide made from the deliberate burning of vegetation such as bracken, or from wood...

Beauty from the Inside for Sensitive Skin
2007-04-16 23:48:00
By: Tina TitasIf you have sensitive skin you may find that many of the treatments you try are too harsh for your skin. While other women are buying skin care products with vitamin C or anti-oxidants, you are using the mild brand with no anti-aging benefits. So, what can you do about it? How can you, with your sensitive skin, get the same anti-aging effects that other women are getting?Rather than applying expensive anti-aging products on your skin, you can eat them. Now, ofcourse, I don?t mean for you to eat your expensive night cream or any other store-bought skin products, but you can eat the effective ingredients in them. Since your skin is your largest organ, the benefits of eating the ingredients will be similar to applying them directly to your skin. Here are some ingredients you can start with.Green tea: There are plenty of skin care product now that contain green tea. You?ll hear about green tea everywhere and it?s now in many brands of skin care. However, if you have sensitiv...

Are Your Products Safe?
2007-04-16 23:11:00
In a world full of toxins and cancer causing ingredients and I am on a quest to live a more natural life style. I need to pay more attention to what is being put on my skin. Are Your Prod ucts Safe ?The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics says? The chemicals in any one consumer product alone are unlikely to cause harm. But unfortunately, we are repeatedly exposed to industrial chemicals from many different sources on a daily basis, including cosmetics and personal care products. Many of these chemicals have gotten into our bodies, our breast milk and our children. Some of these chemicals are linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems that are on the rise in the human population. Some chemicals found in a variety of cosmetics ? including phthalates, acrylamide, formaldehyde and ethylene oxide ? are listed by EPA and the state of California as carcinogens or reproductive toxins.?Are you worried yet? You should be. I highly suggest going to http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep2/"Ski n ...
