Umm, More Awards To Give?
2007-07-06 20:51:00 *Will the person from Kentucky who keeps googling and searching this blog for Kirk Coiner please email me if you would like more information. Fifteen visits in one week is a little much. Thanks*Okay so I've exhausted all the cutesie ass titles when giving awards. Sorry, suck it up, you're still getting an award ya weiners! *wink*Anywho- here are the last 6 Thinking Blogger awards I have to give out. Remember, I'm just trying to give them to people that I don't think have received one yet. Otherwise I'd be giving out about 30 of these damn things! :) Again with the rules...Here's how the Thinking Blog Awards work - These are Ilker's Rules:1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think. (I'm breaking this rule and giving out 6 because there are many who make me think)2. I'd Like To Thank My Loyal Fans...
2007-07-05 22:33:00 *snort* I'm starting to think I enjoy coming up with titles more than the posts themselves. lolAnywho- I was going to post my last six thinking blogger awards today but when I opened my email I saw that I had received two more awards so I want to take this post to acknowledge and thank Christy from Christy's Coffee Break & Writer's Review and Janice from Twist & Skewer.Christy awarded me her very new "Courageous Blogger" Award. See.... Janice awarded me the "Blogging Community Involvement" Award or affectionately known as the "Schmoozer's Award". lolSo I guess that makes me a rocking, thinking, schmoozing, courageous friend right? :) I just want everyone to know that I appreciate all these blog awards. It's nice to know that people read and think so highly of me. I enjoy getting know each and every one of you more than you know. This means that after I post the thinking blogger awards I get to start thinking about who to give these out to as well. LMAO. I'm not complaining... More About: Fans , Awards , Like , Hank
More Than A Scar
2007-07-05 05:12:00 In June 2005 I had a surgery for cancer that left me with a large U-shaped scar on my neck. Since then I have had the misfortune of being initiated into the world of rude staring. You see, people seem to think it's OK to stare, avoid eye contact, and then dash away. It's not really the staring that gets me but the refusal afterwards to look me in the eye. I know you were staring so why not look at me and acknowledge me too?On behalf of all of us with scars, here are some tips the next time you're tempted to stare at someone and then look away:1. We know our scars are obvious. We realize that you're going to see them and be a little shocked. We're fine with that. Look us in the eye, smile, and acknowledge us.2. Having these scars means that we've either been through something traumatic or had a surgery that saved our lives. We already feel self-conscious enough so please look at us and if you'd like to know why we have these scars just ask. Usually we're happy to answer you a... More About: Awareness , Kinda

2007-07-04 03:23:00 Damn Fergie!!! Now her crappy song is stuck in my head! *le sigh*A little while back Doc awarded me a Thinking Blogger award. Okay, so she awarded everyone on her blogroll an award but by jove it still counts! Today I will give out those six awards and then in another day or two I'll give out the rest with a special Friendship Rose going out to one very special person.Keep an eye out for a few of my old DotMoms posts on this blog very soon. Those of you who are new readers can have a chance to read something other than my usual dirty-mouthed crapola! lol. The Glamorous...
2007-07-03 08:17:00 First I want to say thank you to everyone for the well wishes on my newest health issues. I promise that I won't keep you hanging and will let you know what's going on very soon.Second, I want to ask that you take a few moments to send your thoughts (and prayers if you pray) to NYCWatchDog. He lost his little boy last week in an accident at the swimming pool. I can only imagine the pain he has been in and I admire his strength. I don't know if I could be as strong and hope to never find out. Another blogger collected donations for the Puppy Monster Memorial Fund (his son's nickname) and as of this weekend they raised over $3000!!! Isn't that amazing?!Yet still people like my husband say the internet is stupid and nobody cares. I'm very glad to see him proven wrong.Okay, I wanted to make sure that I gave out at least a few awards tonight. I had planned on giving them all out but the pain is being a royal bitch so I'll have to keep it to a few. I know, I've been hoarding them ... More About: Awards , Glamorous , The G

Stop The World I Wanna Get Off!!!
2007-06-30 07:14:00 I had planned on handing out awards and maybe even tossing in a joke or two in tonight's post but to be honest I'm more on the verge of tears than I am laughter right now.It seems that I have even more health problems to add to the list. Best case it's a bacterial overgrowth in my small intestine (that has stuck around for over a year now). Worst case... well cancer will most definately be the least of my problems. It's odd to hear someone say that isn't it? Lucky me, for the next three weeks I'm on a bland diet and it sucks knowing that proteins and the "good" fats make me sick as a dog (malabsorption issues). So much for eating chicken anymore. Dammit. They say one word about my Wild Cherry Pepsi though and I'm going to have to go Amazon on their asses!Nobody ever wants to be a drain on the one they love. I know I sure as hell didn't. This wasn't the life I had planned on. This sure as hell isn't the body I thought I would have and I hate being trapped in it. Most of all... 2007-06-27 18:32:00 Most important thing first- As you can see I have a new "MEN2a Awareness" ribbon on the right hand corner of all my blogs. If you would like to help me spread the world about MEN2a and the cancers it causes then please send me an email and I'll be happy to send you the code for it. If you have no clue what I'm talking about then please read our MEN2a blog to find out more about my family. Also feel free to ask me any questions at any time. Most people are afraid to ask questions because they worry that it's rude but I enjoy sharing with others and encourage the questions. So what do you think of the new look? I'm very proud of myself because it has all been a game of trial and error for me. I by no means have any clue when it comes to CSS, XML, or HTML...totally blonde about all three. I do know the fantastic method of "Ohhh what happens when I do this?" and what you see is the end product. :) I actually am learning quite a bit though and highly recommend everyone learning a litt... And The Awards Go To...
2007-06-25 10:54:00 ME!!!How was everyone's weekend? Mine was honestly too long and shitty. I spent the weekend with insomnia and sick which seems to be becoming the norm for me again. I have a feeling that bloodwork and testing are coming in my very near future. *eyeroll* I also woke up at 8:30am on Saturday morning and didn't sleep again until 11:30pm last night!! Twenty-seven hours without sleep will make you pretty loopy and I also found out that it will bring on one bitch of a fibro flare up!! Anyway- I have received a few "awards" lately and I thought I would share them with you as well as introduce you to the ladies who gave them to me. I always enjoy knowing that I'm making other people laugh and smile so to me every award is special. About a week ago, Christy over at Christy's Coffee Break awarded me with the "Thinking Blogger" award. She said that I have a great blog and a great spirit. Our Nature Sounds Clock= Nervous Breakdown
2007-06-24 15:23:00 *This isn't a sponsored post but how life really is in my house! LOL* Recently my husband bought one of these things which I thought sounded like a cool idea at first. I figured we would listen to a nice thunderstorm as we drifted off to sleep or maybe some gentle wind chimes. WRONG ANSWER! What we got instead was the following...Frogs- These slimy little bastards do nothing but croak, burp, and splash around nonstop driving you completely fucking bonkers!! Who in the hell finds frogs croaking a comforting sound? I mean, sure if you had to grow up in the bayou or country where they never shut up then you have two choices- get use to them or go insane. After awhile I'm sure you don't even notice they are there but for the rest of us this is not a comforting nature sound! Personally it made me want to hunt down a bunch of their sorry asses and fry them up out of pure spite. This earned Hubby Guy a one-eyed sleepy glare.Ocean Waves With Seagulls- So you're listening to these relaxi... More About: Nature , Sounds , Clock , Lock , Natur
Pay Per Post Direct
2007-06-23 06:51:00 When I started my ?paid posts? venture a few months ago, the first place I signed up at was ReviewMe. I remember wincing when I saw that they were going to charge $60 for me to review someone?s website but I would only be getting $30 of that. That meant they would be keeping half of everything I earned! Now considering that I?m not high up on the blogging chain, who would actually pay $60 per review on my site? Earnings from ReviewMe to date? $0.00 not a single dime!Next I signed up with Sponsored Reviews. At first it looked great! I could set my own price, choose advertisers to review, submit my own offer, and?. 9 times out of 10 be turned down flat. Advertisers felt that if their offer range was $5-$25 then I was only worth $5 instead of the $10-$15 I asked for. The thing was, I wasn?t even asking that much to be cocky or semi-vain! If I took an offer for $5 and then Sponsored Reviews took their cut, I would make about $3.25 for the post. HUH? I could make more writing about artis... Who Likes Saving Money?
2007-06-18 05:43:00 Okay, it's time to talk about something we can all agree is a good thing... saving money! Online shopping can be fun but if you're like me, the real fun comes during the hunt for online coupons or coupon codes that I can use to save money on my purchases. Sometimes I think hunting for the savings is even more fun than the actual buying itself! Okay almost because listening for the UPS guy?s truck is pretty fun too! When searching I usually Google ?coupon codes? or sift through forums but thanks to CouponChief.com, I won?t have to do that anymore and that makes me very happy.CouponChief.com has online coupons, coupon codes, and free coupons for way too many stores to count! You can find coupons for places like Target, Best Buy, Overstock.com, Gap, Edmund Scientifics (have to remember my Geek and homeschooling readers) and a ton more!I like that their website is very user friendly. It means ya'll lurve me though so I'm not complainin' a bit. It's my blog so I can say whatever the hell I want, true. I don't HAVE to apologize to anyone, that's the great thing about having a personal blog. Silly Me, Thyroid Cancer Is Nothing
2007-06-16 01:34:00 If you read my last post you will know that I'm not to fond of Ms. McCord (she also runs MomGadget.com in case anyone thinks I didn't know). We have different opinions on the HPV vaccine which I don't have a problem with. Belitting those of us who have decided it's not for our daughters is another thing. Even in the comments section on her blog she seems to think I'm stupid and do not realize that she's still telling us that there will come a day when we will have to come up with "pathetic lame excuses" to give our daughters about why they didn't get the vax. I may not be the most articulate writer when it comes to my blog but I am definately not stupid and very good at reading between the lines. To the point though. In the comments on her post she took it upon herself to basically inform me that thyroid cancer is pretty much no big deal. I mean, after all we have a 96% survival rate. ALL of us. Sometimes blogsurfing can end up being a very BAD thing like when you come across some idiot's blog and they post something like this..."And why shouldn?t we vaccinate our daughters?"My comment pretty much states my thoughts. Now before anyone thinks this is another debate post about whether or not people should have their daughters get the HPV vaccine, please just know that it's not.I'm a pretty easy going person. YOU do what YOU think is best for YOUR family and I will do what I think is best for MINE. It really is that easy. I have no right telling you what to do with your children and I wouldn't presume to know what is best for them. It's just not me and I deserve the same respect in return. If you want to get the HPV vaccine for your daughter, Gayla, then you go right ahead. Where MY Line Is Drawn RE:Paid Posts
2007-06-12 03:34:00 Having already posted about why I do paid posts I wanted to also write about where I personally draw the line when it comes to posts or advertising on my site. Thankfully, LoudLaunch was "nice" enough to help me with an example.LoudLaunch.com is another paid post site that in my opinion paid decently in the past. I've enjoyed the few times there has actually been something I can post about (like the Russian Artist). Having something to post about has been a big problem here lately though. Yes, they have some campaigns available but those campaigns are for breast augmentation, plastic surgery, liposuction, and such in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. Oh and one post having to do with credit cards which I personally choose not to have any of.Out of fourteen campaigns they have listed (for me at least) seven of them are actually open. Things heard in my house today...
2007-06-11 03:14:00 "Can I sniff your hair"?- Sis has this thing with smelling my hair after I shower. Creepy ass kid!"Mommy, my winkie likes me".- Said by MonkeyBoy. Yes, I was stupid enough to ask how he knew."Mom, can we make smoothies? Umm Mom, you're not suppose to put booze in smoothies. Mom, even wine makes you sick you're not suppose to...."- Yeah well Mommy's had a hard week and Daddy's ass chickened out and went to spend the night at his mother's vacant house in the city. I've earned it dammit!"Who ate all my ice cream?"- Hubby Guy made the mistake of asking this question. Someday he will realize that the I Don't Know Ghost eats EVERYTHING!"Ohhhh Mommyyyy, they are having SEX!!!"- again the 4yo but thankfully it was Animal Planet. My fault for telling him that "having sex" just meant "mating" when he asked. I froze, what can I say?"Are you going to eat that?"- A normal question right? For You "Anti-Paid Post" Bitchers
2007-06-09 09:08:00 People who are bitching about bloggers doing paid posts are really starting to piss me off!! The "Oh I don't do paid posts nope never will and refuse to read blogs that do" posts just plain suck! You know, it's really nice if you don't need extra money or if you are able to work a full time job out of the home or if you are one of the "elite" and get paid to blog by other means but that's not an option for everyone. Some people have disorders, diseases, phobias, and restrictions that make working outside of the home hard but yet they still want to contribute somehow. You already feel pretty damn worthless when someone else is the only one paying all the bills. Doing paid posts is a way for some people to earn even a little extra money to help out.For me, I would love to get a job out of the home but it's just not in the cards for me anytime soon. Our copays for medications alone (all of my meds most of which keep me alive and two children on Synthroid) average $150- $250 a month... More About: Post , Paid , Anti
Talk About "Cheesy"!
2007-06-07 20:00:00 Most times the news is pretty depressing but every once in awhile you come across something that is just too good not to share with the rest of the blogosphere. Just watch this video and you'll see what I mean.Yes, they said CHEESE. These people are flinging themselves down a hill to win a cheese wheel or small cash prize. Did you notice that they have a Men?s and Women?s competition? Seriously, I watched the video four times before posting it just for the laughter content! I?m sorry but if MY ass is sliding down a hill there better be some snow on the ground and a sled under my chubby butt! No way would I get all banged up for some dirty ass cheese wheel!Anyway- enjoy the video folks. I figured maybe I would find something funny to talk about or a cute cartoon to post. Well NEVER AGAIN!!I have a few questions to ask?1- Why the hell start a blog and then not write in it? Hey moron, quit wasting a perfectly good blog URL if you?re not going to use it! Here?s a thought, delete the damn thing so it?s one less site the rest of us have to wade through while surfing.2- Why is it that the really sicko blogs are always the ones that have removed their NavBars? Pay Per Post Lurve
2007-06-05 06:44:00 I always try to be honest when I do a sponsored post and in this case that will be very easy. PayPerPost wants ?postie? love and I have no problem giving it to them. PPP gives bloggers the opportunity to earn money through writing which is something we already love to do. It?s a very easy way of making a few extra dollars from home and considering the present rise in gas prices, that is definitely a bonus. The price per post that you are offered for writing ads on blogs is dependant mostly on your Page Rank and how much you earn depends on how often you feel comfortable posting a paid post. PayPerPost allows you to do up to three paid posts daily per blog through them. Personally, I think all of you would dump me if I did that many plus I just don?t have that kind of energy but it?s a great gig for those who are up to the challenge!.I joined PayPerPost the beginning of May.
