Chicken Pox
2007-11-01 15:00:00
My son (he's now 20-months) got chicken pox this week and it freaked me out as he looked gross. He didn't seem that bothered by it and he is already scabbing over - apparently a good sign although he looks like a spotty teenager.

Preparations for Halloween
2007-10-18 13:11:00
Mrs Spook is part of a local mums group who are having a Halloween party at the end of the month. Naturally she is really excited about it, although poor little Spook and the other kids look like they are going to be the entertainment. Little Spook is going to be a pumpkin for the day and he is really looking forward to it.

My wife's face when I tell her I'm going to footy
2007-09-27 12:30:00
O.K. me and Mrs Spook have had a few tetchy moments recently but I make sure that whenever she has a night out with her friends or she's out for the day with her family I always put a smile on had tell her to have a good time. I think of it as an opportunity for me and little Spook to do something or a night in with a good book etc. However, whenever I'm off to do something I get this treatment. What am I doing wrong?

Housework
2007-09-24 16:29:00
I'm piloting a new system for housework today, it is called watchful waiting. For the past year I have taken on the role of part-time house husband. I now spend a lot more time around the house than I used to; I cook and have learnt how to clean a toilet. Oh how I wish for those bachelor days.

Cultral Heritage Passed Father to Son
2007-09-22 10:21:00
There are certain proud family traditions that have been passed father-to-son through many generations. Here is an example of my families cultural heritage...I'm a bit worried about my own dad at the moment. He has always looked, and behaved like a silverback gorilla and was running and playing sport into his fifties. Over the past year has developed painful arthritis in both knees and can't walk far. When he does he winces as if he is walking on glass. Being a total bloke he won't take painkillers and would hate the suggestion of surgery (he's still relatively young). With it being such a sudden decline he doesn't seem to be able to adjust and at times looks miserable and defeated. He's not looking after himself as well as he used to and has put on weight. It makes me sad.I take little Spook around to see him as often as I can, which makes him smile, I think it's the best thing I can do.

Here Be Dragons

Last week I circum-navigatged Wales with the family and I adored it; the blustery hills above Aberysthwyth, the Village of Books and the gardens of Powis; all will become cherished memories (the argument in the car on the way home will not).

Ever had trouble not knowing what year it is?
2007-09-04 21:29:00
This has been a thorny issue that has plagued man since before the dawn of time and I spent all of last week and this working on the solution - a calendar. As a result of much back-breaking labour I have picked out and upgraded many of my favourite cartoons and completed this most practical of devices. Structured in 12 divisions (or months) each containing a number of 'days' varying between 28 and 31 I think it will really catch on. I have ordered a few through cafepress and am awaiting their arrival with eagle arms. As a result I have devoted no time to the ultimate object of this site i.e comedy, so in the abscence of comedy I will leave you with this observation on the impact of rampant globilisation....P.S. I'll never be late for work again
2007-07-14 11:57:00
This week my boss busted me being late to work three days in a row. I didn't even have a decent excuse, I just couldn't get out of bed. He called me into his office and asked me to have a serious think about my punctuality over the weekend. So, I did (sort of) I thought that maybe if I could track down Scotty from the Starship Enterprise he could build me a transporter and I could just be beamed to work each day.Maybe not.

Don't torment the Cat
2007-07-12 11:48:00
My parents' cat is a grumpy, old thing. They acquired it when I was a young boy and even then it never enjoyed human contact. If you approached it any time, other than feeding time, then it was quick with claws and teeth.Time hasn't mellowed the beast, much to little Spook's dismay, as he is fascinated by animals. A hard lesson had to be learnt.
The Modern Welcome
2007-07-10 20:50:00
I had to go across to another company today for a meeting and I waited 30 minutes to get into the building.Things that went through my head, "I'm way to important to be stood here: just wait I'm going to be so indifferent when this receptionist turns up etc". I got really grouchy but in typical British fashion when, eventually, someone did turf up I politely smiled and aquiesced in a grovelly fashion.
