CHESTER & LAKE ALMANOR, California - July 1-4, 2007

CHESTER is a perky little town located near Mount Lassen and the popular Northern Calif ornia recreation/vacation destination, Lake Almanor - where my chaperon spent a few days relaxing and celebrating the 4th of July with my "Ex." I have to admit, it was a bit awkward seeing my "Ex" again...especially since she didn't even recognize me at first!...but I don't really blame her...after all, I have undergone quite a remarkable transformation these past few months, and her memory really isn't what it used to be, poor thing.During our trip, a huge forest-fire broke out in the surrounding mountains! Good thing I was in the area and able to lend my support to those brave firefighters! I could tell by their smiles that my sheer appearance at the gate of the Air Attack Base really boosted their morale! (And as you can see here, my "Ex" and I really, truly don't hold anything against each other anymore.) OK, so my chaperon may have been having a BLAST waterskiing...and yeah, she was looki...

Since 1940, this building has been the headquarters for The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank , Calif ornia .......I hung around the security fence all afternoon hoping someone might discover me and notice my uncanny resemblance to a certain pair of famous mouse ears......but no one did! Yesterday, I bid a fond farewell to Peta luma - but not for long! I'll have ample opportunities to return to The Girls' old stomping grounds again and again! But until then, I wanted to share with you a few more photos from my latest adventures...(click on photos to enlarge.)First...my daring little Italian chaperon risked life and limb (and narrowly escaped being runnethed over by a speeding UPS truck) while snapping these pictures of me with the famous Clover Stornetta Dairy icon, Clo the Cow. Although I don't recommend such perilous endeavours as hanging oneself over a freeway overpass...it was totally worth it to get this shot!Then...with adrenaline still surging through our veins, we decided it might be fun to go check out my chaperon's old family business! Notice the barbed wire around the place?...No wonder her house is known as "The Compound?!"We stopped by and visited Lisa's mom too....she is every bit as sweet and kind as her daughter, and meeting her really boosted my...

Friday night in PETALUMA, Ca. - June 15, 2007

Last night a couple of The Guys from The Reunion stopped by to meet me. Having never laid eyes (much less hands) on an actual Traveling Bra before, at first I think they may have been a bit intimidated by the sight of me...but after a little chitchat and a few cocktails, they not only fully embraced me, but now are my newest big time supporters! They even included me when reenacting this heartwarming moment from their 1976 high school graduation: The guy on the left is a computer professional - and after thoroughly checking out my website, he said he was "very impressed with my meta tags." Wow! - it's not everyday a girl hears that kind of flattery! The guy on the right is The Expert when it comes to BBQ'ing...and he gave me a hot tip regarding how to correctly marinade ones meat. (It's an old family secret...but you can read about it here.) What a HOOT!...something tells me I haven't seen the last of these of Peta lumans!

I've been temporarily transferred to my new chaperon in Peta luma for a couple of weeks. I'll be attending a graduation ceremony at The Girl's alma mater, PHS and getting in touch with some of the attendees from The Reunion! (Stay tuned for more photos!)While my new chaperon wasted no time showing me around town, unfortunately I missed out on a major local event - a Corda wedding.Luckily, we were able to catch up with the father-of-the-bride the next morning in the back room at the legendary Volpi's Ristorante & Bar. I'd met this swell guy briefly once before out at his dairy ranch, (see May 5, 2007 post) but this time, after a few Bloody Mary's, we really connected! Volpi's was originally an Italian market with a speakeasy in the back...over the years the Volpi family has added a deli and a restaurant to the business...but the backroom bar hasn't changed a bit since the days of Prohibition. My chaperon and her teenage daughter have really kept me hoppin' this month - we've been traveling all around California and participating in horse shows! (The daughter, not me.) Thankfully, we took a day off from all the action at the Pacific Slopes Arabian Horse Show in Santa Barbara and just hung out at the beach.That cool sea breeze blowing in from the Pacific Ocean perked me right up! (And was a nice change from all those smelly horses too.)I just love this gal!

Last week, I saddled over to Carson City , Nevada and horsed with these handsome dudes...they were quite friendly and oh, so strong...had me singing "Home Home On The Range" in no time!This flirtatious guy, aptly name Cruiser, spent a lot of time checking me out. Obviously, he was quite enamored...he even asked me to be his bridle...which I'll admit, did stirrup a few feelings...but I declined his proposal saying, "Sorry stud...I have no desire to harness myself to anyone (or thing) ever again...I've had enough of that horse and pony show to last a lifetime!" Unfortunately, I think he took it a bit hard.

It's only been 7 months since I began my pioneering journey as a Traveling Bra, and I must confess...I'm really starting to get the hang of things! My current chaperon, who resides in Nevada, has been doing a bang-up job of getting me out and showing me around...she is learning how to get along in the world on her own these days too...so together, we've literally and figuratively covered quite a bit of uncharted territory...and along the way, created some pretty amazing memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime!A few days before my newest bosom buddy's 49th birthday, we flew to Salt Lake City , Utah for a business meeting...and while we were there, managed to squeeze in a little side trip to the historic Temple Square.Being a free-spirited California girl at heart, I tend to embrace a rather laid-back sense of style, with an increasingly liberal attitude regarding clothing...fortunately, my much more worldly and fashion-forward thinking chaperon wisely suggested that I dress...

We spent a few leisurely days just hanging out and enjoying a little hometown hospitality. With it's warm, sunny days; cool, foggy nights; and acres of happy cows peacefully grazing in fertile fields amid old oak trees, yellow mustard flowers, and gently rolling hills; it's easy to see why Petaluma remains such a special place in the hearts of all The Girls.
