After spending the entire winter in flannel pajamas by a warm and cozy fire, I was a bit concerned about leaving the serene and placid environment of Reedsport, Oregon and moving on to the Wild West state of Nevada . After all, I am still a bit of an ingenue when it comes to these things.I left the beautiful Oregon coast feeling totally relaxed and hydrated, and arrived in Las Vegas (where everyone’s middle name is dehydration) via Carson City, Nevada (but that is another story.) I’ll admit that the flight made me feel a little depressed, but once we got to the hotel room and unpacked, I perked right up...especially when I heard The Girls talking about going to see the “World Cup!” Wow! I could only imagine what THAT was going to look like! But after discovering it was only a horse show, I didn’t mind at all being left behind in the hotel room. This is my first official travel journal entry for my Travel-Blog! How exciting! I arrived in Reedsport, a small town on the Oregon coast, on October 9, 2006. To say I was suffering a let down would minimize my sagging emotions hugely. Yet, as Lisa unpacked me and set me gently among her belongings, I knew that I had to grab myself by the underwire and hold it all together. I retreated to a dark corner of the underwear drawer and began to collect my droopy thoughts.It wasn’t long before my drawer-mates spoke up. There was nothing chic or trendy about Lisa’s stuff. These were no-frills types, without a fancy name brand in their lineage. These no-nonsense gals came from sturdy stock and were used to pulling on their straps and carrying the heavy burdens of country living.
