Police finds a new way to make money - abducting merchants
2008-06-03 09:51:00
Rahul Tripathi | TNN Well, we all know cops are dirty, but it's surprising how dirty some of them get:- Excerpt: New Delhi: Two Delhi policemen allegedly abducted three businessmen from Rohtak, brought them to the capital and demanded a ransom for their release. The two cops are absconding after a police party from Rohtak conducted a rescue raid early Sunday morning and arrested a couple of their associates.Head constable Dushyant (40) and constable Parminder (35), serving as “special staff’’ of West district police, allegedly masterminded the kidnapping along with two locals from Madipur in west Delhi. The businessman—Rajesh Agarwal (35), Pankaj Kumar (30) and Avinash Chaudhary (32)—were abducted from Rohtak on Saturday and brought to Delhi. That is of course not all, the three were ruthlessly beaten up and tortured as well ...---Source----# RoguePolice go there to read about the ...

Woodstock Villa - a high quality movie
2008-05-30 23:04:00
Well as with almost all humans, I crave going to the movies every once in a while and especially so when I am totally bored and don't have anything to do, even something which is very boring by itself but at least keep me busy. Today, was one of those days! And after browsing through the section on where which movies are playing in the papers, I had another problem; a confusing choice between different movies. Woodstock Villa seemed a good choice because I like the genre the film fits in; fast paced 'James Headly Chase' novels kind of murder mystery thrillers. I like the kind of characters you find in such movies, smart, cunning, scheming, deceitful. The women are beautiful in such stories but not your ideal Indian or just ideal women for that matter. It's quite like a game of chess, each party trying to outwit the other and only in the end do you get to know how it all turned out. Well, 'Woodstock Villa' does indeed deliver on all the promises it had made; not perfect but fa...

Reason to rejoice for Indian Bloggers
2008-05-27 23:50:00
The great news is ... that there is now another blogging platform where you can get a blog for free and even put up Google Adsense on your blog. Yes, I can hear you; blogger already has this and places to get free blogs are launched a dozen a day, but there are a few crucial differences between having a blog with ?????.blogspot.com & ?????.blog.co.in: The site has a co.in domain. So, if you blog about stuff that is relevant to India or Indian s, the chances of you getting more targeted readers increases greatly because of this. (Also blog.co.in is an easy suffix to remember)More importantly, blog.co.in uses the most popular open-source blogging software; WordPress Multi-User edition. Don't get me wrong, I love blogger myself (on which this blog is hosted) because of its ease of use, but the trouble with blogger is that there are severe limitations as compared to other platforms such as Wordpress or Typepad.Having said that, installing and running a blog/website on your own domai...

And some more sport
2008-05-26 20:42:00
Everybody goes through phases where they are digging something or the other more than anything else and right now, I am very much in to sports, a thanx goes out to IPL for it. IPL made cricket fun to watch again. No, I am not your complicated test match loving types, I love the bashing and belting of IPL and one thing many people fail to see or don't want to see is that bowlers are doing a lot of wham baam as well, that's its not just batsman who are going for it every ball.Take Shane Warne for example, he surely is having the time of his life as a cricketer, bowler, captain and mentor in IPL. His Rajesthan Royal boys play like a pack of killer hunting dogs albeit they are not wild and rabid, they are "professionally aggressive", they do their talking with their bats, fielding and the bowling and just don't want to loose !! They could have let Sachins Mumbai Indians team win today in the IPL match, but the Roayals had a different idea; no mercy or loose cricket from them and now ...

IPL - Money down the drain for Shahrukh Khan?
2008-05-21 21:17:00
Still on the Subject of Shahrukh Khan, IPL T20 Cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders, the biggest question it seems is how the Rich & Famous like Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Vijay Mallya and Mukesh Ambani feel about their respective investments in the game. The sole purpose for Vijay Mallya's royal challengers team now seems to be promoting the scotch whisky brand RC. [for Royal Challenge] As for SRK's Kolkota Knight Riders team, they are all but out of contention for the Semi Finals after their latest defeat at the hands of the Rajesthan Royals. The Punjab XI 'owned' by Preity Zinta, Mumbai Indians ['owner' Mukesh Ambani] and Rajesthan Royals ['owner' - ??] all look like they will go on through to the latter stages of the tournament. But on the other hand, as the media has been quoting repeatedly recently, the only 'franchise' that was profitable and saleable was Sharukh Khan's Kolkata Knight riders. Witty and funny ads made showcasing some of the bigger names in the sq...

More Needless Fuss Over Celebrities Smoking On Screen
2008-05-18 20:56:00
After Amitabh Bachchan, NOTE-India (National Organization For Tobaco Erradication) & the health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss are to now sue Shahrukh Khan over smoking in public. Well, SRK forgot that since he is such a big celebrity, he has to devote his entire life to setting good examples for the public. During the match between his Knights and the Mumbai Indians in which his knights were R.A.P.E.D, he [SRK] was snapped chain smoking cigarettes openly as his Multi Million $ cricketing team got out for a meagre 67 runs. Now NOTE is crying foul once again over this. Their argument: SRK should instead have behaved like a true sportsman by trying to raise the morale of his team, instead he himself got bogged down himself and smoked in full public view.Personally, I feel that stars like Shahrukh khan are humans themselves and have their own private lives in which they can do what they like, they did not come on this planet with a single purpose of living for the public. Last time, NOT...

Oh fuck the poor vodafone dog!
2008-05-17 21:14:00
Well, where do these advertising agencies sniff out their tunes from? The latest tune that I am always humming these days comes from yet another TV ad campaign, the new Vodafone ads that they are airing these days with the cute girl and her cute dog and the very very catchy song that they play in the background. The pun on those bloodsucking Customer Service execs is funny too LOL.Check out the Advert for yourself:-Just love the lyrics which go something like:'everyday I want to fly stay by my side, everyday I wanna dream stay by my side, every morning, I wish I just could play, wish the mornings would just stayyyyyyyy,pa pa pam pa pa pam ...'Just can't get enough of that song !!What I can't quite understand is why some people like AWBI (Animal Welfare Board Of India ) and this guy have problems with it. The argument is that in making the mutt do the smart things that he does for the carless and stupid girl like bringing a fishing net to the girl, running after the bus with her tie ...

Delhi Daredevils VS Kings XI Punjab
2008-05-17 20:38:00
Well, on the subject of the IPL T20 Championship, the match tonight between Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils was a bomb after the interruptions by rain followed by the implementation of the duckwort louis system (well, whats in a correct spelling if its wrong??!!) Without a doubt we have seen fantastic cricket from all of the cricketers and teams involved in this tournament but of late all of the players and teams were showing signs of fatigue because of the harsh harsh heat of the India n Summers and the player's hectic schedules. The recent 5-6 day breaks for all of the teams and the change in weather sems to have breathed life back in to the players and the tournament. In the end, the Kings XI Punjab won the game by 6 runs but both teams put their best in to the match and it was nice to see a competitive match go right down to the wire ... again.

SRK's Knights Slaughtered by Mumbai Indians
2008-05-17 12:42:00
They say that Cricket is a great leveler, well yesterday it leveled someone who isn't even a cricketer, our favorite movie star - Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh must have expected a similar kind of performance from his boys like they did in their match against Delhi Dare Devils. And they did perform like the last match, all of the batsmen let the team down just as in the last match, they just did it worse this time around; all out for 67!!. Well, Shoaib Akhtar is a great bowler but you couldn't expect him to get the Mumbai Indian s out below 68 especially with Jayasurya in the kind of form he was in and Sachin in the side. The Mumbai boys of course got 68 easily. I didn't see the match yesterday because I was out doing something else but Mumbai Mirror had snaps of a Tensed Sharukh Khan smoking ciggies one after another as his knights fell, I just hope the rest of the matches are good for him and gets a good return for his investment now.

Sex, Condom Phobia, Holi & HIV/AIDS
2008-03-21 20:15:00
On a serious note, it is a shame that the HIV & AIDS problem has almost gone in red now. India as country has become a stronghold of the deadly HIV Virus. As per World Health Organizations estimates, India has a very big problem with HIV/AIDS next only to some African countries where the problem is in the red already. In India, the situation can be stated to be almost in the red; 500-1000 out of every 10000 of deaths in India are due to AIDS. And even more alarmingly, due to the lax attitude of people when it comes to awareness regarding responsible sexual behavior, the number of people living with HIV/AIDS is increasing faster than anywhere else in the world. If it were not for the great work of bodies such as WHO and other AIDS mass media, the situation would have been a nightmare already. The main aim now is to spread awareness about responsible sexual behavior and preventive measures such as use of Condom s.Apparently this is where the problem is, the Indian female and males ...

Happy Birthday Amir Khan
2008-03-14 19:06:00
As Indian s, there is one actor we all admire, respect and love, the actor who was born on the same date with the great Albert Einstein himself; the actor with the most innocent of faces and the most beautiful of eyes, Amir Khan himself. And it just starts there, above the soulful eyes is a very beautiful and a very powerful, sophisticated mind. He really is the Albert Einstein of the Indian film industry; an industry where most people are content to create cinema with "market trends & demands" in mind. Here's the man who has over the years given us great movies as an actor, producer and director. And his latest installment "Tarein Zameen Par" was one of the most beautiful movies ever made in the history of Indian Cinema, many of my friends and myself included found the movie not just a good entertainer but truly spiritual as well. As fans, we Indians should consider ourselves lucky that there is an entertainer like Amir Khan amongst us...

While, the intellectuals rant on about the need to pay attention to the other sports and do a lot of other good things, it is no secret that there is only one sport that is capable of striking a special chord in the very soul of an India n and that's Cricket . That is why they call it a religion here in India; a religion with only 1 God, Cricket, only through Cricket can a man be entertained is the fundemental belief of this religion. So, all the intellectuals, socialites and the talk-gooders (who don't do any good themselves) can rant on and on while infidels who play, watch or even take a mild interest in other sports are ruthlessly hunted down and verbally whiplashed into giving up their passion for other sports... In this hour of darkness for other sports in India here's some good news for traditionalists who still prefer Guli Danda instead of cricket and prefer the macho Indian sport of Kabaddi to WWE or someother wresting TV Soap-Operas. Through the sport of Kabaddi, the HIV ...

Kolkata Knight Riders
2008-03-13 15:28:00
Beyond most things, Indians are over the top crazy for 2 things; one's Cricket and the other is the King of Bollywood - Shahrukh Khan. So, it's natural that these two together will get Indians by the balls. And the time for that was today, SRK today in a press confrence announced the name of his Kolkata Team as "Knight Riders", he also gave everyone a look at the Knight Rider teams promo video (Awsome video), named his team's mascot -- "Hooglee" and as usual made his witty jokes. Shahrukh got everyone laughing many times and it was a great press confrence to watch. The genius of SRK (or maybe his PR team and creative team) shined through but the initial idea of buying out a team was genius itself. Can't wait for the other press confrences and the start of IPL now...

White People & Indians
2008-03-10 05:52:00
Indians and White people have had a long history with each other starting from the 1600's when the British, French, the Portuguese and even Spaniards came to India for trade. For one-and-a-half centuries after that, the white people fought amongst themselves. Many figured it was for monopoly of trade and some figured that white people just like to fight. These fights and skirmishes were a source of amusement and entertainment for the native Indian population who weren't involved and could watch from the sidelines. In 1767 after the battle of Plassey in which the British defeated the French backed Nawab of Bengal, the British East India company became a commercial and military power and it ruled India. The French were driven out except for a small trading outpost in Pondicherry. The British ruled India until 1947 when they finally left Indians to their own devices. Some wonder how history would have turned out had the French established rule in India. The French with all of their l...

Sweeping it all under the rug
2008-03-07 17:55:00
The recent Thackeray campaign against people from the states of UP & Bihar are a classic example again of how India ns just don't like to deal with painful issues and rather would sweep all the dirt under the rug and run from the issue. The attack on north Indians was unacceptable and got a lot of stick from all corners especially the media. But even then everybody is hesitant to talk about and face the things that should not be. For one, the relentless abuse and ridicule of people from the 'Bhojpuri' land clearly demonstrated how vulnerable this group is not just here in Bombay but also elsewhere in India what ever the reasons for this might be.What is sick is that people from this background are being used as fucking punching bags or stress balls to vent out! Man, enough is enough; while the Marathi community and their leaders are out of line and completely un-realistic in thinking themselves the superior 'race', the Bhojpuri's can blame themselves for being soft targets ...

Brotherly Love amongst Indians
2008-03-03 17:53:00
The great people of India have always had a reputation of being peace-loving, intelligent and calm people. This reputation has not come over night, people of India have had to work hard for it, by taking a lot of shit lying down from other not so peaceful groups in the course of it's long history. In his heart of hearts each Indian feels it's his duty to be good natured and kind towards foreigners. That is why they think Indians are that way. Each Indian also feels in his heart of hearts that if there's any fighting to do, it's to be done with a fellow Indian. Actually, to say that Indians like to fight amongst themselves, pull each other down, hurl insults against each other, corrupt the system, blame it on each other etc etc would be an understatement; Indians absolutely love doing the above mentioned things to each other. Meanwhile it doesn't help that India is perhaps one of the most blessed countries in the world for it has the best of leaders/politicians on seats of power...

Cricket Mania
2008-03-03 17:51:00
Most Indian people generally do not show much interest in any sport except cricket. In fact, anybody who is in any other sport like hockey, football or tennis is considered a fool to be wasting his/her time in it. Even if they do well, it is common for Indians to treat such athletes and players like P.T Usha or Mr. Negi with Indifference. Whether this is because of some genetic make up thing, culture or the poor treatment of sports people is hotly debated every now and then by the Indian intelligentsia on T.V talk shows, magazine articles etc and then it is generally agreed that all of the above are reasons Indians aren't good in any other Sports except Cricket . But Indians make up for their lack of competence and interest in other sports with over the top fan following of Indian cricketers and the game in general. Great flexibility in their feelings towards their cricketing heroes has often been observed with opinions on players changing each match. Indian cricket fans live in the...

About 'Stuff Indians do and like" change of plans for this blog
2008-03-03 17:49:00
Well, I only stumbled across the outrageously hilarious blog titled Stuff White People Like a couple of days ago. (Any one who hasn't done that, please try it now). The blogs there to provide crucial insights on stuff white people like. I plan to use these very crucial insights if I ever get to a white people's country like USA. Till that time however I am stuck with coloured people - Indians who also are in dire need of scientific analysis to explain their likes, dislikes and general preferences. Rising up to the occasion, this is my blog which aims through scientific approach to highlight and explain stuff we Indian people like.

Migrant issue: Actors come out in support of Raj
2008-03-03 10:10:00
Raj Thackerey's anti-North India n stand was today supported by many bollywood biggies including Nana Patekar, Ashok Saraf, Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Nana also added his personal opinion with his signature on the signature campaign initiated by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to protest the gag order on its president Raj Thackeray. Patekar felt that Raj has raised an 'important' issue and it is not right to quiten him [Raj].?There may be a difference of opinion about the manner in which Raj has raised the issue,? he said in the letter. ?But there is no doubt about the importance of the issue he has raised,? he said.?If the son-of-the-soil concept is wrong, then the formation of states on linguistic basis should also be questioned. To what extent can one bear the insult on his culture and people?? (Which insult? and when did it happen and by whom?) Patekar did not answer any text messages seeking an elaboration on his letter?s content. He also said that anybody...

The controversy sorrounding the thackerey clan's campaign against North India ns only from the states of Uttar Pradesh & Bihar simply won't die down. The latest was a war of words between our Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Bal Thakerey. Thakerey called him names and said that Lalu should just stay in Bihar & Lalu retorted by saying that Mr. Thackerey is propably too old to be brawling and instead should spend the rest of his days being religious, spiritual. Lalu's got a point if think about it. Anyway, this whole campaign against people from above mentioned states has probably burried not just Sena, MNS and their Ally BJP atleast in the center. Somebody like me won't now ever vote for a party like BJP which has an ally with ShivSena even though the BJP might have north Indian senior leaders like Atal Vajpayee, Rajnath Singh, Advani etc, where is it's spine to speak up about this ghatigiri in Mumbai . Mumbai Team the most sort after when Indian cricket gets auctioned for whop
2008-01-24 23:24:00
The pecking order remained as it is in the world outside of the IPL in the auction for the Franchise of Cricket ing teams especially the Mumbai cricket team. For Mumbai, it turned out to be a Movie style auction race between two Business tycoons Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries & Vijay Mallya Chairman of the UB group and the richer man prevailed. Mukesh Ambani who is the richest man in the world by many estimates won the franchise of the Mumbai team for a sum of $111.9 million which is I think 480 crorse India n Rs, Vijay Mallya got the Bangalore team for just a little less at $111.6 million which is a lot of hundreds of Indian fucking Rs as well. Then the bollywood stars teamed up to bag the rest, India's cricketing cathedral Kolkata was bagged by the team of Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta for a bid of $75.09 million and Mohali went to Preity Zinta and her flame Ness Wadia for a just little more at $76 million. There are a couple of other cities like Chennai and Hydera...

Media propelled bear Screws the investors
2008-01-22 20:38:00
I meant that the bear market run of the Indian Stock Markets today and not the other kind yo! Hope this makes any investor who lost a lot of money today smile a bit. The National Stock exchange of India and NIFTY yesterday shed so much cash and points due to profit booking by Foreign Institutional Investors or FII that the whole country was shell shocked, that is it no other word for it. From 22000 levels, the sensex closed somewhere in the 14000 mark today. Many many people lost tons of cash in this unfortunate episode which was primarily triggered by the grim outlook on American and European economies. I am one of the guys who was up until yesterday feeling left out because I hadn't invested much and the bull run had lasted almost a couple of years with a few hick ups here and there. But today, I heaved a sigh of relief when I heard the news of the bear run by the markets in Dalal Street Mumbai. The big shed-off by the markets made news on every single T.V news network and all of...

Pakistan Elections Delayed, luckily for the country....
2008-01-06 20:36:00
Many in the Pakistan i media and elsewhere were relieved when the decission to postpone the national Elections was announced formally by the Election Commission of Pakistan. As is making headlines, the election comission has decided to postpone the elections to February 18th, the only right thing to do for a country in utter chaos. The election commission also admitted that polling can not take place Jan. 8, in part because polling offices and voter rolls have been destroyed in the days of rioting that followed Bhutto's murder. The really really shady attempt to cover up facts about Bhutto's assasination have also been acknowledged in a round about way! A 'Scotland Yard' team to investigate the assasination plot has been called ... Though one knows that the scotland yard investigation is just a show put on to calm and distract people it's almost like saying 'yes, we lied and tried to cover things up'. I doubt that he is personally grieving for the death of Benazir Bhutto, but ...

No Funding for Envorenmental projects from the centre
2008-01-04 07:55:00
As has always been the case with our country, bureaucracy has ensured that once again, vital projects are delayed for as long as possible. Despite the Flooding of the 'Mithi' river in 2005 after 950 mm of rainfall on 26 July and the reprecussions, The Union government according to story in today's MumbaiMirror, has rejected two very important projects in Mumbai which were environment and commmuter related: First off, the Centre has rejected the Funding of the Rs 1,300 Crore project to develop and widen the Mithi river of Mumbai. (If you remember, the clogging of Mithi river is what caused the major floods in 2005 and 2006.) The Finance ministry has rejected the project under JNNURM on the grounds that the river -- which begins in Powai and ends in Mahim -- is a river and not 'a sewerage'. The state has hence been told to approach the Ministry of Water Resources instead ... [see a pattern here?] The second plan is the Mumbai Metro Link Phase 1 which needed a funding of 650 crore...

Sexual Molestation
2008-01-03 17:39:00
You might recall that incident last year when something downright disgusting happened at the Gateway of India. A girl was groped by a crowd of more than 70 people at Gateway of India and when the dust was settled, her clothes torn apart and during all of this, her male friend could only watch this happening. Thankfully this was caught on camera and the nation was alerted of how it's men behaved badly if given the chance to. Just as last year, this year too, there were incindents where women were treated to horrific sexual molestation and again a news paper photographer was close at hand to capture the shots. This has caused the media in to a sort of feeding frenzy on sexual crimes and specifically sexual crimes against women. An understanding of Sexual Assault or Sex crimes in my view very neccessary for combating them. Sex Crimes simply put, are forms of human sexual behavior that are crimes. Well, the poor or lower income group Indian male's sexual behaviour is certainly deterio...

New Year eve's party ... by the God's
2008-01-03 10:15:00
The official stats were out yesterday but I was feeling too lazy to write about it then and it procrastinated until now. So, getting down with it, when it came to the "crack down on drunken driving", Mumbai Police beats the police everywhere else with ease. In Mumbai, more than 330 people were booked officially, so at least 800 people must have been stopped and then made to pay 'chay-pani' or otherwise known as 'tod-pani'. It is nice to know that the police is doing well for itself and getting to loot the ordinary people on 'special earning' days, so maybe their greed in the interveening periods will be less. At least, one can hope!!! :) Byway it was interesting to think about that if our police could get their hands on the gods and get money out of them for being drunk [on soma ras] and flying/driving around, they wouldn't shy away!! So, has the time to wage war against corruption come yet for the people, it surely has in my view. Read on the interesting story belowto know m...
