Hi everyone!Just a quick note to say that I am still alive and kicking. I finally took the GRE and was brain dead for about two days. I played a lot of video games, stared off into space, and thought about some very deep, deep things. For instance:I like the word "blunch" instead of "brunch."I like the word "leakfast" instead of "blunch" and "brunch." Is the Total Gym system for old men with saggy balls? This includes Christie Brinkley. The sky is blue. Dude, that is so cool."Women Who Run With the Wolves," was the worst book I've ever read. Yeh, yeh, save your opinions, I won't listen anyway. All that metaphor just to tell us to take a chance. See how deep I am? There is one more Quee post coming up. Thank you Quee for writing such excellent posts in my absence. Ta ta
The Deadweight Loss Of Christmas (Part 1), by QUEE
2007-12-01 18:36:00
A woman, Jill, takes a day off from work to do her Christmas shopping. She was lucky to be given the day off, her job required every minute of her attention. She had one day, and only one day. “I need to buy presents for my parents and in-laws, brothers and sisters, cousins, uncles and aunts, grandparents, the vet, my gynecologist, my proctologist, my dentist, the secretaries at work, my boss, my massage therapist, my hairdresser and all 2,090,985.3344221789 of my friends. Oh, yeah I have to buy toys for the kids. Both of my teenaged sons, Quentin and Winston, want plasma screen TVs for their rooms. My environmentally conscious 22 year-old, daughter, Ashley, wants a 2008 Toyota Prius. And, to add to that, my husband, Dave, wants two nineteen-year old starlets and a hot tub. What am I going to do? Christmas is so stressful? I hate this time of the year. Where are my pills!!? Where the hell are my pills!!? Ah, there you are. All snuggled up in your cute prescription-labeled bott...

Down With Christmas Interruptus: By, QUEE
2007-11-28 19:48:00
Yes, I am on HIATUS still, but my brother Quee has ever so generously agreed to be a guest blogger on Stealthybean. So without further adieu, I present QUEE!There are three things I promised myself I would never do or have done to myself: body piercing, tattoos and blogging. Well, thanks to Stealthybean, I am now blogging. And, since I have broken one promise, I may as well break them all. So, I am off to get a Prince Albert followed by tattoos of the Dali Lama and Mother Teresa on each of my, ugly, brown ass cheeks. Eh…perhaps I am taking things to extremes. After all, I am only guest blogging. So, instead of a Prince Albert, I’ll just use the rubber band off of today’s newspaper. And, rather than defiling those two New Age icons, I’ll draw a happy face on each of my kneecaps with a Sharpie. Well, I had better get on with this blogging thing. With Thanksgiving out of the way, my fellow Americans can now proceed with their Christmas preparations. For the rest of you, al...

Sick woman is pissed!
2007-11-15 16:38:00
Warning: Extremely strong opinion below! I saw something today that just drove me over the edge. It’s about how healthy eating can increase your longevity. Apparently, if you’ve been living under a rock or have been hit in the head with one, you’d find this particular article interesting. You see, researchers are saying that if you restrict your calorie intake, you can live to be 120 years old. How restricted does this diet have to be? And WHY would anyone in their right mind want to live to be 120 years old? I’m sick and tired of being told what to eat. How eating less means a longer life, but cutting too many calories is an eating disorder. How you should feel guilty when you (a woman of course) wants to enjoy something that isn’t a diet food. Have you seen that dumbass commercial where a woman is so self conscious at a pizza buffet that she stuffs wads of pastry in her mouth while looking around the room? What message is being sent there? Now, studies are sh...

I really have nothing to say. I'm a little stressed at the moment and plan on being so for quite some time. No, my world is not falling apart. I just have a lot on my plate. I haven't had a chance to take any new photos for my photography blog. I think of all sorts of wonderful topics that I can blog about, but they just slip away. I've been tagged for meme's...I just keep forgetting. I suppose it seems like I'm not interested in participating. To be honest, I've lost interest in blogging. I refuse to give up though! I really don't know how to classify my blog. In the beginning, I wanted it to be a place where I could dump all of my memories of Guyana. I really didn't intend for it to be a parenting blog. I mean, I am a parent, but I will NOT let motherhood define who I am. It is only a part of who I am, not all of it. I wanted to be able to discuss South Asian related literature on this blog. It has happened a few times, but I need to read more! I wanted it to ...

Intro to South Korea
2007-11-07 02:16:00
Ok, D. took about 280 pictures while in South Korea . I haven't had a chance to look through all of them yet and get the names of places and such. So, I thought I would start off with the basics. Incheon Airport. Apparently, South Korea is a really beautiful place!!!! Let's not forget the food. S. Koreans eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. Their main meat source is beef. Everything is just immaculate. I didn't know this, but they use kitchen shears (or just plain scissors), not knives, to cut just about everything. Here is D. in a fancy restaurant enjoying a very delicious looking dinner. Lucky! Most of the bowls on the table consist of light side dishes or condiments.More to come.

Guiana 1838
2007-11-01 17:01:00
Attention! Those of you from Guyana or those who know someone from Guyana, please listen up. Guiana 1838 the movie, is a “must…..kind of must see.” You’re probably wondering what I mean by that. Well, Guiana 1838, though somewhat informative, is not for those seeking the whole truth. I’ve spent countless hours pouring over book after book, article after article, writing my senior thesis. I hope to turn this senior thesis into a Master’s thesis before long. Enough about me, let’s discuss the movie. If you’re looking for a well made movie, this is not it. It’s more akin to a docudrama shown on public television. This movie provides a brief explanation of British colonialism, their interest in sugar and rice in the West Indies, the abolition of slavery, and the replacement of slaves in British Guiana with indentured servants from India. The main character, Lakshman, is a strong field worker who wants to see his people freed from their contracts. Indentureshi...
Happy Halloween from Izzie
2007-10-31 02:31:00
Happy Halloween everyone. Any major plans for tonight? I think I'll wait for the humans to leave and dig into the cupboard for tuna. Ahhhh, I love it when I have a few hours to myself. Can you imagine how many cans of tuna a cat can eat when the humans are gone? I might even break out my rack of mice. You know, 1990 was a good year for mice. Just the right earthiness and suprisingly full bodied.Blast! There is one kink in my plan. The blasted door bell will be a buzz every five minutes. The small humans screaming some gibberish or the other. Something like..."lick my feet." Isn't that what they say? What a proposterous request. I mean really. Dress up and ring doorbells asking others to lick your feet. Then my humans give them something that makes them go away. Perhaps it's dried fish.To all my feline and canine f-f-riends out there, I wish you a prosperous "lick my feet," or whatever they call it.

Days 2 and 3
2007-10-25 04:31:00
I promise, this is almost the end of the New York posts! Perhaps it is the last one...maybe. St. Patrick's Cathedral. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Unfortunately, I only had thirty-five minutes at this museum. AARGH! Next time I go back, I will spend hours here. I did spend a large amount of time in the South Asian art exhibit, but I didn't take any photos (sob). The following day we visited the Museum of Natural History. We were there for about three hours. One of their South Asian displays. "Gimme some gum gum, dum dum." I had to get a picture of the statue in "Night at the Museum."

New York Trip Day 2: Part 1
2007-10-24 01:28:00

I took quite a few photos on this day. Of course, most of them will be posted on my photography blog.Since it was Z's birthday, she simply had to go to the American Girl store. I was hoping she would outgrow it, but not a chance! We crossed the street walked over to the Rockefeller Center. This was a interesting one to capture. Here is a toursity shot for you.Of course, we went up to the top.Part deux of day deux, tomorrow same time, same place.

New York Trip Day 1
2007-10-23 01:21:00
We landed at JFK Airport at 4:00 pm last Wednesday, grabbed our luggage, and jumped into a cab. More than two hours later we arrived at our hotel. You know, rush hour traffic and all that jazz. This is a view from our hotel room. Sorry about the lamp reflection. Pesky glass! So, we made our way into Times Square. We had a great time walking all over the place.Giant candy bar. Yum.More Times Square.And.......even more Times Square. After this, we went to dinner and headed back to the hotel. We were tired and wanted to get to bed early in preparation for the next day!

I'm Back!
2007-10-22 03:15:00
Hey everyone. We are back. Just got in earlier this morning. We had a great time shopping, visiting museums, and walking for miles. Needless to say, we are exhausted. The weather was actually great, except.... for Friday.....I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this photo. Don't you just love humidity? I think Z. does? Can't you tell? I'll have a better post soon. I need to get all the photos in order. Have a great day.

Happy 53rd B-Day
2007-10-16 04:37:00
Ok, you're probably wondering why I said Happy 53rd birthday. Well, Z. and D. are born in the same month, so we do a joint family party for the two of them. This year instead of separate cakes and candles, we combined their candles and one cake. So, in other words, they are 53 years old collectively. In two days, my little girl is turning twelve. Sniff......where did the time go. Here is a picture of us in 1997. She was about fifteen months old. Sniff....Here she is with her Dad getting ready to cut their cake. Finally, here she is with her birthday gifts. All she wanted this year was money.Anyway, Happy early Birthday Z. You've grown into a beautiful, intelligent young woman. I think I'll go cry myself to sleep now.
