Introducing the world's smallest gun that fires deadly 300mph bullets - but is just TWO inches longMeet the pistol that fits in your pocket - and packs a hell of a punch. The SwissMiniGun is the size of a key fob but fires tiny 270mph bullets powerful enough to kill at close range.Officially the world's smallest working revolver, the gun is being marketed as a collector's item and measures just 2.16 inches long (5.5cm). It can fire real 4.53 bullets up to a range of 367ft (112m).The stainless steel gun costs 3,000 although the manufacturers also produce extravagant, made-to-order versions made out of 18-carat gold with customised diamond studs which sell for up to 30,000.At just over two inches long it is the world's smallest gun - but the 300mph bullets it fires mean it is still deadlyIt cannot be imported into the UK, and buyers in Switzerland and Europe must produce an import permit from police to obtain one.The gun is banned from being imported into the US - because it's b...

The sculptures will be sold under the title EvolutionThey go on display at the White Cube Mason's Yard gallery, St James's, tomorrow in Quinn's first exhibition in the capital since 2005.Quinn was inspired partly by Slaves, sculptures by the Renaissance master Michelangelo, in which bodies almost fight their way out of rough-hewn rock. But the five-ton sculptures, made of marble quarried from the Spanish-Portuguese border, were also prompted by witnes...

Haj Pilgrimage in 1953 - Rare Pictures
2008-01-16 00:20:00
The pilgrimage is associated with the life of Muhammad, but the ritual of the Hajj itself was considered ancient even during his lifetime in the 7th century. Many Muslims believe that it goes back to the time of Abraham in 2000 BC. Pilgrims would join processions of tens of thousands of people, who would simultaneously converge on Mecca for the week of the Hajj, and perform a series of rituals. Each person would walk counter-clockwise seven times about the Kaaba, the cubical building towards which all Muslims pray, kiss the sacred Black Stone on its corner, run back and forth between the hills of Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, drink from the Zamzam Well, go to the plains of Mount Arafat to stand in vigil, then proceed to Muzdalifah to gather pebbles, which they would throw at a rock in Mina to perform the ritual of the Stoning of the Devil. The pilgrims would then shave their heads, perform an animal sacrifice, and celebrate the three day global festival of Eid ul-Adha. via:wikipedia

She was just 29 years old.The mother of two, who weighed almost half a ton, was bedridden and knew her only chance of survival was to beg doctors for a gastric bypass to reduce the size of her stomach. Before her death she let cameras into her home in Austin, Texas, to raise awareness of the dangers of obesity. She said: "I'm not the average overweight person and never have been. My stomach has always been flat and my waist is really small compared to my weight."I have to be helped with everything. I can brush my own teeth and comb my own hair but a lot of people who are this weight cannot move around at all."Renee battled with her weight since childhood but convinced herself her obesity was due to a genetic problem. She said: "There are times when I have to force myself to eat because I know it's been a while since I've eaten something."By the age of 12 she weigh...

Five worst jobs around the world
2007-12-29 20:08:00
1. Roadkill RemoverTo keep the highways safe, states hire people to get all sorts of animals hit and killed by motorists off the road. But more often than not, wheels of other vehicles and the scorching heat of the sun get to the roadkill first, leaving rotting and maggoty flesh splattered all over for roadkill removers to collect.2. Odor TesterBefore deodorants and anti-perspirants are released into the market, manufacturers employ people who test if these products actually work. Translation: these people smell other people?s armpits for a living.3. Garbage collectorNot much needs to be said about this job. Just look down your garbage bin, and you know what these people deal with on a daily basis.4. Manure InspectorYou think being a scientist is a glamorous job? Then you probably didn?t know about scientists who are dedicated to eliminating deadly contaminants such as E.coli and salmonella. To figure out a way to do so, these scientists will have to go to the source?animal crap?and...

frogs found inside rocks
2007-12-28 20:18:00
This mummified corpse of a frog was found in a hollow flint 'geode' which was cracked open in 1899 by workmen in a quarry in England. There have been many reports of frogs found inside rocks; some still living in a kind of stupor but which revived once exposed to the air.In 1910 a living toad was found when a piece of coal was broken open; another was found in 1906 six feet underground in a solid layer of clay. The most commonly found seem to be stuck in limestone. The theory is that a small tadpole somehow enters a crack in a forming nodule or pocket and gets trapped in there as it grows. As it does, the smell attracts tiny insects which feed the toad and keep it alive. Through this crack also comes water and air. This is fine for some of the many examples that have been found but makes no sense in cases where live frogs have been found in totally sealed or deeply buried pockets. Some frogs have been found with the impression of their bodies so tightly jammed against the rock 'po...
