Time to reevaluate
2007-01-26 23:28:01
Have you ever watched the new show Heroes? I have to say I love it. It begins again tonight after taking a short break. But really that's not exactly what this post is about. I wasn't sure if tonight was the night that it was starting again. So I wanted to find the official website and check. I went to Google and typed in Heroes. I figured I'd have to browse through a few pages until I found what I was looking for. I didn't. The TV show Heroes has the first four listings as well as most of the other listings on pages 1-3. I stopped looking after page 3. Something seems seriously wrong with that. Am I wrong?

Where's my walker?
2007-01-26 23:28:01
I am officially old and out of shape. I spent the whole day putting things together. All with T. and R. underfoot, hence the time frame of a "whole day". First I hammered and screwed together R.'s new "big girl bed". I did this all by hand mind you, as the instructions said not to use an electric screwdriver. And let me tell you there was a lot of turning that screwdriver, I think I now have carpal tunnel in my right wrist. So please excuse any of my typos. T. and R. tried, of course, "helping". Though the thought was very sweet, I was able to distract them with some bubble wrap. I just love that bubble wrap! Nevermind Christmas presents next year, the kids are getting some bubble wrap! Anyway after FINALLY getting the bed done I tortured my wrist some more and assembled a step stool for R. so she could actually get her little muchkin body IN the bed. Then, so she didn't fall OUT and break her butt, I needed to set up a bedrail. I vacuumed then moved the dresser to the other side ...

It's a milestone birthday today. Mr. Schmitty is forty. As you can see, T. and R. helped make him a cake. He has a gluten allergy so we made him a gluten-free cake. It is a mix that I bought and from the way these two went at the batter, I think it's going to be pretty good. Here is the picture of the cake: Here is the conversation that followed unveiling said cake: T. : "That sure is a little cake."Mrs. Schmitty: "That's a very sad little cake."T. : "Yea, it is sad."Mrs. Schmitty: "I think we need to go back to the store."T. : "We need more cake."Mrs. Schmitty: "Mmmmhhhmmm."R.: "Then we'll have a happy cake!" So, back to the store we went. Of course they didn't have the same cake mix. I bought a different one, different company, different preparation, hopefully not a different taste. We'll see. I'll make the kids try it first. They are like Mikey and his Life cereal, if they like it, chances are so will everyone else. Happy Birthday babe, w...

T. : "W. just use your magic-nation." Sound s like an episode of the Rugrats. ****************************** W. : "Guess what I want to do when I grow up? I want to work in a hotel so when I have a break I can go in a room and play video games." Time to disconnect the Playstation. ****************************** R. : "Why do you look like her?" "But Why?" R.'s reaction to our neighbor's 5 year old twins. They stayed for about 3 hours so you can imagine how many times she asked "Why?" ****************************** T. : "Dad, can you get me a drink of water."Mr. Schmitty: "I'm eating my breakfast, you're right next to the water cooler."T. : "Yea, but can you get me a drink?"Mr. Schmitty: "No, I think you can get it."T. : "What's the matter? Are your legs broken?" Ooopss...won't tell you how that ended!

I can't quite grasp this. I am the owner of a small at home
2007-01-14 23:20:01
I can't quite grasp this. I am the owner of a small at home business. It is a creative business that requires a lot of time and effort on my part in order to make my clients happy. I take pride in the fact that I am a perfectionist and nothing leaves my hands until it is indeed, perfect. I've only been in business for a short time, less than 2 years. My prices are more than reasonable for what I do. I'm professional and my turn around time is extremely fast, especially considering that most of my work is personalized and/or customized. Pretty much, my work speaks for itself. Now, I have wonderful internet customers. I've never had so much as one complaint, well, okay, one, but she was looking for a freebie. My problem isn't with these complete strangers, my problem lies with my neighbors and friends! It's amazing that these people are under the assumption that because we have more than just a professional relationship they are entitled to special benefits. I am far from being...

2007-01-13 11:18:02
I hate grocery shopping. I really HATE it. Other than sending Mr. Schmitty out to pick up odds and ends during the week, like bread and milk, my grocery shopping is kept to twice a month. I can only handle battling a cart through the aisles twice a month. I think I would seriously hurt someone with the cart if I had to go more than that. And those people who think they own the place and come right toward you, bumping into you as though you weren't there would be the first to experience my wrath. So, when the time comes and the cupboard is bare, I head out, usually with T. and R. in tow. Drawback number one. It's very difficult to whiz through any place that sells candy, cookies, and other tooth decaying products when you have a 3 and 4 year old on board. It's especially irritating when the cartoon character of the moment is on all of the packaging just daring me to say no again to my now whining children. And do they really have to place that stuff in the checkout line? It's on...

Grandpa, we miss you
2007-01-12 11:17:02
Today is the 3 year anniversary of the passing of my father-in-law. After W. is dismissed from school, the five of us are going to the cemetary. We try really hard to keep his memory alive with the kids. Displayed in their rooms, they each have a framed picture of themselves as babies sitting in his lap. T. and R. were so young when we lost him, only 13 months and 3 months respectively. W. was 5 and still remembers him well. I still get choked up when I think about breaking the news to W. that his grandpa had gone to heaven. Mr. Schmitty was with his mom, of course, so the job fell to me. W. was very close to his grandpa so I knew it wasn't going to be easy. One because of that closeness and two because he was so young and really didn't understand what death was. My father-in-law had a degenerative muscle disease that had been taking it's toll for quite a while. His last month or so of life had him in and out of the hospital where he just quickly deteriorated. It was very hard t...

Yo Banana Boy!
2007-01-12 11:17:02
"Hey mom, I learned something in school today!" Wow, imagine that...learning, in school, what a concept. "Oh yea? What did you learn?" "We learned about palindromes." "So, tell me, what is a palindrome?" "It's a word that if you write backwards it's still the same." "Like Bob, right?" Mr. Schmitty pipes up with, "Or mom!" "Or racecar!" It's finally happened. I knew it would. My child is smarter than me. I just never expected him to pass me by at the age of 8. I even looked up palindromes on the internet so I could hit him with a longer word today. Unfortunately for me, racecar is the longest one word palindrome in the English language. Dammit, I'm mad!
