Visnee's 29th Birthday
2008-03-30 01:37:00
Madame X lounge in NYC The diva in our group threw her own birthday bash and it was VERY successful. If you weren't there, you are not a true New Yorker. Sorry, but that's how it worked out. They didn't even let ME in. I was like, "Hey, bouncer-head-muscle-man, do you think I dress like this for my health? I'm with the birthday girl. I'm with Visnee, okay?!" Philip and I arrived at the same time as Rowena and Dan. We were brought upstairs to the bar area where there was another birthday being celebrated. You mean we have to share this space? Like, whatever! We're here to see the diva! As usual, Gerald was already there. I think he slept there overnight to prove that he's always on time to fabulous events. Dude, seriously, it's not that big of a deal. Then, Beatrix and Mario walk in ten minutes later and Philip and I got to gloat about how we finally arrived somewhere earlier than 'Beatrix and Mario', the Ultimate Duo of Promptness. "Nana na boo ...

Christmas Dinner 2007
2008-01-06 07:02:00
I never met a carrot I didn't like...except for this one! After about 150 emails comprising one email subject entitled "Christmas Dinner ", we finally decided upon a date and time that would work for the entire group (damn it, we're only 8 people). The emails were mostly about the dinner, but many emails from Lesley were just quotes from the Brenda Dickson parody video (see above). Lawrence was the only one who didn't keep up with the drift of the emails because he thought we had decided on a completely different day for the dinner and figured he would just show up angry. On Friday, December 21, 2007 at 8:30 p.m., we convened at Philip and Jessica's house. Almost everyone was on time, except for Rowena (9:15 arrival), but later on, we figured that she was still early because Jared and Jaden had not been picked up by Grandpa until 9:30 p.m. So, in reality, it was still Philip and Jessica who were late as usual. (Hey, we're parents! WTF!) Anyway.... Chef Philip...
The Village Underground with John Mayer
2007-12-20 00:26:00
aka The Fat Black Pussycat (FBPC) Rowena's co-worker, one of the double Christine's, is dating a musician in the band that performs on Wednesday nights (along with the great Cheryl Pepsii Riley). So, she invited us out the night before Thanksgiving. We always enjoy a night at the Village Underground , but this time, we were thrilled by an impromptu performance by John Mayer . There was one guy standing next to Philip that actually asked, "Who is that?" We partied at FBPC until closing time when we realized we were hungry, so we stopped at the McDonald's next door. (Hmm, maybe we weren't hungry until we saw the McDonald's next door.) I can't recall why it came up, possibly because we were discussing the relationship between Rihanna and Josh Hartnett, but Gerald said he describes himself as a White Asian. This remark caused the rest of us to experience a quiet moment followed by a burst of laughter. So, I told Gerald that I would be putting this interesting self-desc...
Cardinal Spellman Reunion - Class of 1997
2007-12-17 17:37:00
The Whore of Babylon makes her rounds. We were all afraid that the reunion would be a replay of our high school days: the same cliques hanging out and bashing eachother, the mozzarella sticks that got us through each lunch period still being served, the soda machines at which we used to congregate would be emptied by bored, thirsty people. Instead, we were refreshingly surprised by what we found upon entering the bronze doors on November 17, 2007. I remember Chris as we stepped out of the vehicle saying, "Holy shit, this is so fucking weird." He hadn't been back to Spellman since the day he left, 10 years ago. As we walked into the cafeteria, we thought our worst fears were realized because the room appeared to be ethnicly segregated. Seriously, it was the Italians hanging out with the Italians, the Hispanics hanging out with the Hispanics and African Americans dispersed among the Hispanic or their own groups. We were like, "O...

Girls' Night Out 2007
2007-11-25 20:33:00
Her skirt kept getting shorter and shorter as the night went on.      &n bsp;             ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;   We had all agreed that we would meet at Visnee's place and get ready there.  All of us thought we had synchronized our watches and set 8 o'clock as the designated juncture but Lesley had other plans.  She was responsible for picking up Rowena, but at 9:15, we still didn't know where she was and Rowena, with her mounds of patience, was fuming.  She was ready to party and Lesley was...um, not there.  Meanwhile, Viz, Beatrix and myself were almost through with our pre-clubbing rituals, which include grabbing drive-thru dinner at Mickey D's, choosing outfits, matching shoes with these outfits, changing these outfits two or three ti...

Ladies' Dinner
2007-11-09 20:19:00
These are not my shoes!  <kick, kick>Lesley organized a Ladies ' Dinner the weekend before our Girls' Night Out.  Yes, we name our shindigs.  (Hey, guys have the Super Bowl.)  We gathered at Zuppa's in Yonkers.  Rowena came up with the outing suggestions and I voted for this place because I want to support my current hometown.  And lucky for us, the food was FANTABULOUS.  I had a beef thingie whose actual name I can't remember, but it was so good, I think I moaned with each bite.  Visnee had so much lamb, I could have sworn I heard her say "Baaa".  Oh, and the martini's were off the hook.  At least they looked good.  I had to be the only dumbass with a Sauvignon Blanc.  Whatever.  I was the first one to have floor time because Rowena asked me how the California trip went.  I stood up from my seat and stepped onto the table to begin my dramatization:  "It was a hot and sticky afternoon...
Rowena's 28th birthday
2007-10-15 00:01:00
My parents are gone.  Now I can get hammered!Rowena celebrated her 28th birthday with a bang...on her head.  I wondered why she would even want her parents to celebrate with her at a place called "The Fat Black Pussycat".  She must have been a bit uncomfortable getting drunk with them as witnesses (I don't know if they were drinking).  The moment her parents left the club, Rowena took the liberty of having a tequila shot and blacking out for a few seconds, scaring the shit out of the rest of us.  One moment, Rowena's sitting at the edge of the stage drinking a beer, laughing at jokes, having a blast...the next moment, she takes a tailspin fall right onto my shoe.  I thought she was joking.  No one else noticed for a few seconds.  "Guys, guys, help me!" as I try to pick her up from the floor.  Her co-workers, double Christine, walked her to the bathroom and the rest of the night went like this:Rowena:&n...

Miracle near 34th Street -- Lesley Needs to Talk.August 26, 2007Lesley is like me.  She doesn't reach out for help unless the situation is dire.  So when Visnee saw a text message from Lesley saying, "I need to talk", she immediately made the effort to get to Lesley as soon as humanly possible.  The only problem was that we were on Fire Island.  Philip and I said we could drop her off 'real quick' at Lesley' s place as soon as the ferry got us back to the mainland.  Then I checked my phone and I saw that Lesley had reached out to me as well with the same message.  I started jumping up and down like a blooming idiot.  "Yay, Lesley needs me too!  See Viz, it's a real emergency and she wants to talk to me too.  Yay!"  Wait a minute.  A real emergency?  Viz and I tried to come up with possible 'Lesley-type emergencies'.  Did she rent a video that completely changed her political vi...
Backyard Party
2007-08-24 02:53:00
August 10, 2007: It's my party and it'll rain if it wants to. We didn't have such a bad turnout for the backyard party in Yonkers considering it was raining all f*cking day. Everyone was calling to make sure it was still on. After all the cooking we did, you better believe I didn't want to cancel or move it to the next day. Thank you to all that showed up despite the drizzling until midnight. My sister, Jackie, was VERY concerned about her hair. Viz sent a text message to Lesley around 10:30 to find out where she was. Lesley's response: "Home." Of course, why didn't we think of that? But, she showed up for the party and was at our place the next day to help us eat leftovers and watch "Arrested Development: Season Two". Gerald & Lesley didn't leave our backyard until 4 a.m. Party Animals! As the party was coming to a close, I saw Michelline sitting by herself on one of the comfortable outdoor sofas. I hate to see someone getting all cozy without me, so I made a run...

John Mayer Concert
2007-07-27 16:32:00
We loved Ben Folds...before he sucked. That was on a t-shirt at Nassau Coliseum.  I had no idea who the hell Ben Folds was before this concert.  He demonstrated the 18-hertz frequency and the 16-hertz frequency on his $1500 red synthesizer, but he warned that half of the people in front of the stage would shit their pants if he played the 14-hertz frequency.  I was like, "Do it!".  I also became a semi-fan of James Morrison at this concert.  Do great guitarists have the initials J.M.? --> John Mellencamp, John Mayer , James Morrison. See what I mean?  Philip enjoyed John's ballads...this is in his own words.  Hell, this was Philip's first concert.  Poor deprived Filipino.  BTW, we were one of maybe six minorities in the whole damn coliseum, and two of them worked there.  Philip's explanation for this was, "There's not enough public transportation."  Real PC, Philip. This pic was taken ...

Viz / Phil Birthday Brunch 2007
2007-07-26 20:36:00
February 2007  How many grains of pepper do you think are in this shaker...and other life questions at brunch. So, there we are at brunch in Yonkers (Lejends Restaurant) celebrating Viz and Phil B'days when Michelline, Philip's sister, looks around and points out that everyone is sitting at the table in an "L" shape.  Lawrence, Chris, John and Visnee look up from their conversation just in time to hear this and Lawrence says, "Sure glad we're not sitting on that side.  Next, they'll be figuring out how much pepper is in this shaker."  Yeah, everyone on our side got put into the oddball court: Philip, Lesley, me and Michelle.  Then again, we were already in that category.  When we were getting up to leave, Lesley and I were still cracking up by ourselves about some shit I can't remember when she accidentally dropped her chewed-up gum onto my crotch.  "Lesley, you dropped your gum on my crotch!  What were&n...

Brunch Turns Into Group Field Trip
2007-07-24 04:34:00
This isn't Destiny, it's Default. On Sunday, July 16th, the group was almost all together (Gerald was working) for brunch at Agave in NYC.  Lesley chose the place by checking Citysearch and it's obvious that she stopped at the letter A.  But the food and ambiance couldn't be beat so good job, Les.  Brunch turned into a walking trip and we all felt old the next day.  Lawrence had his large-ass camera on hand and was awesome in sending the pics to us.  Now if only he would send out that email to start coordinating that damn road trip to Montreal.  How many years have we talked about this?  Lawrence's early morning Bloody Mary   Million Dollar Baby (Jaden P. Domino)   Rowena and Jessica    Jessica advertising for Starbucks.    Viz, Jess, PhilIf you don't look good, we don't look good.   Is that Lesley walking next to Viz?  Oh, yup, that's th...

Jaden's Baptism
2007-01-14 07:34:00
Tradition rulesAnd, so, according to Roman Catholic custom, children should get baptized as early as possible so they don't have the freedom to choose their own religion.  Just kidding.  It's so that Spanish and Filipino families can have a reason to throw a party.  Duh!   12-09-2006Please, Lord, accept me into your kingdom.  I heard you keep fresh bottles of milk everywhere.           Wait a minute, why is my godfather wearing pink?          ;    As usual, Jared, the big brother, is holding it down with the ladies.  "Don't worry, Jaden. You go get baptized.  I got this."          Jaden's cousin, Christian, (go figure), was also baptized that day.  Here, crazy cousin Wilma is scaring him...I mean, holding him.      & nbsp;&...

5th Anniversary
2007-01-14 07:07:00
== Proof that high school sweethearts still exist ==Phil & Jess celebrated their 5th year anniversary (7-20-2006) in Florida with their kids, her parents, sister, and crazy cousin Wilma.  Here's how it started --> After stalking her for the first couple of years in high school, she finally gave in.  "Fine, I'll go on a f*cking date with you!  Just please stop messing with my locker and hiding my books."  2 kids and 5 years of marriage later, it turns out that high school sweethearts do just fine together.  (And we'll continue to do just fine if we just don't look at the current marriage statistics)
