40 weeks of marathon training didn?t make them skinny
2008-04-24 17:06:00
You would think that people training to run a marathon would lose weight and get skinny if they started off overweight.  After all, trainees are logging 20-30+ miles a week, and more as they get closer to the big race.  That has to cause some major weight loss. I thought so too, but after watching a ...

Week 2 - Original Turbulence Training Workout review
2008-04-22 21:34:00
Another week, another review. My commitment and excitement for my weight loss programs hasn’t changed a bit. But, the workouts, the meal planning, the eating 5-6 times a day, all the things that go into being succesful have become so ingrained into my routine that some weeks I just don’t have much to ...

I see fat people
2008-04-21 02:09:00
Just recently, I’ve started paying more attention to the shape of people around me wherever I go.  I’ve always been a people watcher (I love airports), but it’s only been in the last few weeks that I’ve really paid attention to what kind of shape people look to be in.  I’m not just looking at ...

Fitness Friday
2008-04-21 01:07:00
This past Friday was absolutely gorgeous here in North East Ohio. The wasn’t a cloud to be seen in the clear blue skies and the temperature was a beautiful 82 degrees. It was a perfect day for getting some exercise in. For me, the weather meant I could ride my bike to work and ...

Can everyone BE any more obvious?
2008-04-18 21:48:00
Hopefully, you get the “Friends” reference (think Chandler). Any ways, I went to the gym at lunch today for Workout B of the Original Turbulence Training Workout.  It’s another gorgeous day here in N.E. Ohio, so I was able to ride my bike to work and the gym again.  But that’s another topic. The gym wasn’t too ...

My underwear almost killed my workout
2008-04-17 16:12:00
Underwear…skivvies…undiesR 30;briefs… …none of those names strike fear in you, do they?  After all, you just grab the next pair in your drawer and throw them on without a thought.  I mean, it’s underwear right? Not anymore.  As of yesterday, I am going to be putting a bit more thought into what I wear under my shorts.  I ...

Belly Off results - amazing numbers
2008-04-16 22:08:00
Over at the Men’s Health Belly Off forums folks are celebrating reaching 40,000 total pounds lost in the program.  One poster asked if anyone could put together some numbers to show what that figure means so I took a few minutes to put together a few facts based on that 40,000 number. 40,000 pounds equals 140,000,000 ...

No, I’m not trying to impersonate Sylvester the Cat. I’ve given in and decided to try out Twitter . For those of you who don’t know what Twitter is, here’s a video that does a fantastic job of explaining the service. For those of you who do know what Twitter is (either already knew, or ...

Run NMFD, RUN!
2008-04-15 04:48:00
Interval training does not equal cardio! This is a mistake I’ve been making for the past 3 months and now I’m going to have to step up my training because of this misunderstanding. I’ll still be doing my interval training four days a week, that’s not going away.  Now I’ll be adding two, 2 mile runs to ...

Week 1 - Original Turbulence Training Workout review
2008-04-14 18:01:00
How much do you think the tip of a finger weighs?  I’m only asking because I cut the tip of mine off yesterday while using a mandolin to slice apples.  It wasn’t a huge piece of my finger, just a small chuck and some fingernail.  Those mandolins are sharp!  So sharp, it really didn’t even ...

Guest post:Best ways to burn belly fat
2008-04-11 15:58:00
Here’s a great, no-nonsense article by Craig about how to burn the belly fa.  Reading over this, it seems almost too simple.  And you know what, losing the guy is simple really.  Eat right, move more and lift weights. Even though I say it’s simple, that doesn’t mean it is easy.  Losing weight can be painful, ...

First two workouts of the new TT program
2008-04-10 21:09:00
My rest week is over so it’s time to move on to the next workout in Turbulence Training.  The next program after the Intermediate Level workout is the first in the advanced workout section.  Having completed just two workouts, my body can attest to the fact that this is indeed an advanced workout.

Rest week results
2008-04-08 16:19:00
Results from a rest week?  Is that even possible? Rest does not equal results in my mind.  After yesterday’s weigh in, I’ve changed my mind. After completing 8 weeks of the Men’s Health Belly Off program and then 4 weeks of the Intermediate Level Turbulence Training workout, it was time for a one week rest.  Taking advice ...

You must be mental!
2008-04-08 15:08:00
Here is a guest post that I wrote for Andrew’s Discipline or Regret blog. Do lots of cardio, lift weights, eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water.  That’s the typical advice, albeit oversimplified, that you’ll hear when you ask 9 out of 10 people how to lose weight (the 10th one will ...

Lifting faster?
2008-04-07 16:00:00
How slow do you lift weights when you’re at the gym? Even though I’ve never been a gym rat even I have heard that you need to lift at a slow, controlled pace. It seems there is new (yet limited) information that provides reasons for doing the exact opposite. Lou Schuler, author of “New Rules of ...

My new favorite indulgence
2008-04-05 17:23:00
Hi, my name is Steve and I’m a chocoholic… “HI STEVE” By now, everyone who reads this knows I love chocolate.  In my dark past, it was normal for me to chug a few ounces of Hershey’s straight and follow it with a milk chaser.  I like my stuff hard! Another secret chocolate treat I’d devour was chocolate ...

Spring time? I?m ready for a change
2008-04-05 16:59:00
It’s that time of the year here in North America.  The weather is starting to warm up, people are getting out and cleaning their yards, their homes, their cars.  Spring has finally sprung! To celebrate Spring and the spring cleaning season (has anyone ever done that?), I’m going to be changing the look and feel of ...

What I?ve learned in 86 days
2008-04-03 17:32:00
January 8th, 2008. That’s the day I started my journey to become a fit dad.  It’s been 86 days since I took my first steps and I’ve learned quite a bit in that time.  There is still a lot for me to learn, but I feel confident that I’ve set a great foundation to build upon. Here ...

Reaching a BIG goal
2008-04-01 17:08:00
Do you remember watching reruns of “I Love Lucy” or “Leave it to Beaver” or any old family TV show?  Remember when there would be a scene in a bedroom and there were separate beds for the husband and wife?  That was because of censors who didn’t want to be “risky” and show what real ...

Back on the ball
2008-03-31 16:38:00
After a year away, my ball chair is back! Starting in 2003, I sat on a fit ball (swiss ball, exercise ball, whatever you want to call it) at my desk in the office.  For 4 years my core got a great workout each and every day as I sat in front of a computer for ...

The dedication of a father
2008-03-29 15:49:00
One of the members of the Turbulence Training Forums posted a link to this video last night. I sat and watched it (about 5 minutes) with Zach sitting on my lap. I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried as I watched what this father does for his son.  I think any father ...
