Marketing Materials are Eye-Candy To Me
2008-04-23 04:29:00
While I admit I'm a sucker for marketing materials (it's one of the only things I miss since resigning from my job - The marketing I used to get to do for our company!) it's such a serious love of mine that I have even bought 'moving cards' 3 years in advance just because I fell in love with them and couldn't wait to use them... even though we had no plans for moving at the time! (Ok, so those

Meet Our Snakes... well, two of them anyway
2008-04-23 03:52:00
A couple days ago I posted what to do if you are ever bitten by a python... or a boa for that matter. Tonight while uploading my sons track photos I came across a file of 'oldies' and saw a couple pictures of our snakes. How I wish we had digital cameras back then! I would have so many more pictures, and better ones! Instead, we were poor and could barely afford the film much less to develop

Someday I'll Get to the Mediterranean
2008-04-22 23:11:00
In my cold medication induced haze (for the first time EVER I relent and admit that some medications do make you drowsy... I've never believed that before) I lay on the couch and looked out the window and thought of the beautiful view of the water and sand I had last week compared to now. I'm three days back from a vacation and ready for another vacation. I always tend to gravitate towards sun,

The Retainers Will Be Paid For! (Update)
2008-04-22 16:46:00
It's 9:45 and blessedly, I am home from errands - for now. This afternoon my son has a track meet but for now I'm going to pop one of the cold and allergy meds I flashed my drivers license to get and start tackling the mounds of dishes and some laundry waiting for me. So, this morning - off to the pharmacy (the only place in my town that sells cold medicine) and as I drove in I wondered why the

Just another day in the life of an American Housewife (edited 8:30 am)
2008-04-22 14:07:00
Do they even make coffee strong enough for busy Moms? I'm not sure they do. Yesterday I saw my husband off to Minnesota for his meeting, and then managed to get most of my list done, including making orthodontic appointments, paying bills, balancing checkbooks, mulching the front flower bed and one tree and then rushing off to errands in the 'city' which included 2 hours at Bed, Bath and Beyond

2008-04-21 15:52:00
You would think, having been attempting to get this mornings Coffee Talk blog post finished for two hours that I would have something by now, eh? LOL. Well, I also have a "To Do" list in front of me with no less than 15 items on it so needless to say every time I started to open a window to post I got busy with something else. On the flip side I've already scratched off 4 items from my list

When a Python Bites... don't kill the poor snake!
2008-04-20 17:43:00
It's time for 'that' post again. The post I try to write after a python makes the news. Here it is this time.. from CNN; EUGENE, Oregon (AP) -- A pet store owner is calling a police sergeant a hero for saving her from the coils of a 12-foot Burmese python doing its best to turn her into a meal.Teresa Rossiter had reached into a cage Thursday to show the huge snake to a customer when it bit

We are Home... Safe and Sound
2008-04-20 14:35:00
Home... ahhh. This morning all I've managed to do thus far is unpack the seashells, sip coffee, upload the last of the photos from the camera, sip more coffee, upload all the vacation photos to an online site for developing, sip coffee, update all my websites with an "I'm home!" message and uh... sip some more coffee. But it's only 8:00 am so I'm doing well. :) Last night when we arrived

Not Much To Say....
2008-04-19 14:16:00
We're in a hotel room in Nashville... Coffeekid and I are the only ones up though. My husband said he wanted to get an early start this morning but I learned years ago to let what he says go in one ear and out the other. He'll sleep till 9:00 this morning if I let him (even though he has his cellphone by his head and could have set an alarm...). Yesterday when I checked out of our South
Dolphins and Hoochie Momma's
2008-04-18 14:15:00
This morning as I sip my coffee I have the balcony doors open to the ocean. The crashing of the waves is so common place in my subconscious now it will soon sound too quiet when we are on the road traveling through South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee and I hear the hum of the tires instead of the surf. Every morning this week I've watched for dolphins and whales as we've seen the

Random Thoughts As I Gaze Out to the Ocean
2008-04-18 01:21:00
We were blessed with the most perfect last 'full' day here we could have asked for. From 9:30 am - 3:00 pm I never left the cabana except to dip my toes in the ocean or take pictures of my husband and kids. The sun, breeze and surf were perfect. So perfect that twice, tears came to my eyes. I love the ocean so. As Jody stated in a comment below... "but you just got there!" - so it seems...

It's our official last day...
2008-04-17 14:43:00
We leave for home tomorrow so today is our official 'last' day. It's beautiful and warm... I have the patio door open next to me and I almost cry to think we have to go home tomorrow. None of us is ready to leave. Even though we currently live in the Midwest, we have have the ocean in our blood as we both feel such a pull towards it. I know for a fact I do have the love of the ocean in my

The Search Continues...
2008-04-16 16:16:00
Still here... hanging out in the room as it's still a bit too chilly to head down to the pool or beach. The housekeeping staff came at 9:20 wanting to do the room already. Good gravy! They came early yesterday and I had to apologize and say "No, the kids are still sleeping..." and although it was a different housekeeper today (more friendly than yesterday) we again had to say "No, the kids

Tuesday on Vacation
2008-04-16 14:13:00
It was far too cold and windy to hang out on the beach yesterday but we braved it for a few minutes anyway. Here is Kat chasing after some birds on the beach. No matter how many times I watch taffy being made I still find it interesting. Yesterday afternoon we played tourist for awhile and then ate at Joe's Crab Shack. Not my first choice as we have these restaurants back home and they

Coffee On the Beach
2008-04-15 12:56:00
I can't say it's 'joyful' to be awakened by hearing another rooms morning 'wake up call' from the front desk at 6:15 am but then again, if I hadn't been awakened by their phone ringing I might have missed this; So in the end, once again, things happened as they should and I enjoyed a glorious sunrise. Shopping and Pizza... and Bowling?
2008-04-15 02:31:00
The day is ending. As I sit in the living room I can hear the roar of the ocean outside of the patio doors to my right. I'm on the couch, feet propped up on the coffee table and my husband sits in the chair next to me watching the World's Dirtiest Jobs on television. One kid is watching tv and two more are down swimming. For perhaps the hundredth time today I'm thankful and grinning ear to

No Ghost Stories Tonight...
2008-04-15 02:16:00
I know a lot of people love to come here and see I've updated some of my 'ghostie' stories... you know the "Hmmm... that was strange" things that happen around our home once in a while or when I was younger. There have been a couple times though where we've seen something 'strange' outside as a child and later had a few things even stranger happen as an adult. These could be classified more

This mornings Coffee I'm happy to say that Coffeehusband arrived at the beach safe and sound. He almost didn't. Because I was going to kill him. Our second morning started off in freezing cold Nashville with a borrowed luggage carrier that wasn't strapping on as well as it did the day before and my husband was... irate. Shhh Everyone is Sleeping... I'm blogging from the hotel. DAY ONE.
2008-04-13 13:35:00
For all the snottiness I got from the customer service person on the phone this week when I called re; our reservation, I have to say the employee's here at the hotel itself are amazing. But, then again, we are in Nashville, Tennessee and the South has the most friendly people in the country. One of the many things I miss about living here. Yesterday when we left the Midwest it was, indeed,

What!? No One Has Weird Foods That they Eat?
2008-04-11 18:05:00
Or... you don't want to share it? LOL. I posted this morning about the first 12 'odd' foods or ways I eat foods after I picked apart a few little Snickers candy bar bites this week. Looking at the little building of chocolate I inadvertently made brought to mind a few other times when my family has looked at me when one eyebrow cocked and remarked; "You're so weird..." Idaho Does Happen To Be On Our Top 10 List...
2008-04-11 17:49:00
Ever since I started a 'moving' blog I've been blogging most of my moving, relocation, buying, selling and real estate thoughts on it and not said too much about it on this blog. I'm trying to spare all you faithful readers from having to listen to me whining about still being here in the Midwest 3 1/2 years into a 'one year' commitment. Sadly, our whole family is grown so accustomed to life

Does This Seem Weird to You? How We Eat Foods.
2008-04-11 14:12:00
I have to admit that I have some quirks when it comes to food... but since it's 'me' eating what 'I' want, and probably have all my life, it just doesn't seem weird to me until someone points it out. Two nights ago I was craving something sweet and other than leftover birthday cake there was nothing to munch on. I remembered some leftover mini-Snickers bites (you know, the little 1 inch size

Remember when I worked so hard to bring you the "how rain turns to snow" instruction videos for those of you lucky ducks that get to live in the South? Well, we may have to do a 'rinse and repeat' version as my local news said the "S" word this morning. I'm sitting down at the kitchen island with the medium diet Coke that I craved and made an impromptu trip to the only fast food restaurant in our town (mcdonalds) and scrounged up all the change I could find in the ashtray of my truck to come up with the $1.26 it cost me. But it's exactly what I needed, wanted... so it's worth it! School let out early today so I took Coffeekid to the flower

Catching Up Over Coffee re; Positive News Tuesday and Consignment Shopping
2008-04-09 15:36:00
The coffee is poured and the news has been read. I swear... I need to just delete news bookmarks off my laptop and stay away from it for a month to get in a more positive frame of mind. My gracious! Gangs and rapes, murders, child abuse and large groups of stupid people forcing local and federal government to make rash decisions and knee-jerk reactions to things... complete loss of common

Growth for Growths Sake Can be Scary
2008-04-09 15:01:00
This morning as I read a few news stories and blogs I was reminded of an old on-going friendly argument I had with my co-worker at my last job. His focus of our organization was economic development and while I was second in command of the organization, ED was not my focus (good thing because I'm not a proponent of development in general!) so we had many heated arguments about eminent domain,
