Blogging is a strange beast. For some people it's a very easy way to build a website. For others it's an attempt at making money. For some it just about having a voice online, that the whole world can read their thoughts, and what their cat had for dinner. There is millions and millions of Blogs out there. Most aren't that great, but as long as the person writing it is having fun, it doesn't matter. ... What annoys me about Blogging now, is the sheer number of Blogs that are about nothing more than, er, Blogging! How to build a massive following, how to make $50,000 a week from advertising, how to make the best Blog in the world, how to get the best search results. How to write that perfect post, which will change the world forever. ... A lot of it just feels like Blogging for Blogging sake, and nothing to do with providing something that people actually want to read. Some Blogs are truly excellent in their own niche. Another non productive day, where I've drawn no cartoons at all. But having found site:http://www.verbalcartoonist.com/blog .html maybe I don't need to draw anything and still call myself a cartoonist?Dan Liebert is a verbal cartoonist. I'm guessing either Dan can't, or won't draw cartoons, but somehow manages to provide the same humour you'll see in most cartoons. Truly inspirational.

Funny how every single crime in Sun Hill appears to have an extensive collection of CCTV to assist the officers in solving the crime. Either Sun Hull is the most monitored borough in the Met, or the script writers are just being very lazy. Like this blogs author , I suppose. First cartoon of October. Micro Camcorder - The Worlds Smallest.

This is reported to be the worlds smallest Camcorder . No bigger than a pack of chewing gum. Apparently can record up to 33 hours of video on 1GB Micro SD card. Amazing. Buy one here It's designed as a surveillance device, so I can't imagine it'll replace your Handycam, but it's an interesting piece of technology. Reminds me of the Minox spy cameras of the 50's and 60's.

Web Pun Cartoon. Here's another rejected cartoon from a recent batch. Truth be told, it was just a 'filler' anyway, for what at the time I considered much superior gags. Oh well. Hope you enjoy it anyway. For those who are interested, this was drawn with the Pentel Brush Pen.

You may have noticed the distinct lack of cartoons over the last few weeks. Well, I'm back with a new cartoon for everyone. I have also redesigned the banner - to reflect a little less on being an exclusively cartoon blog. I have been busy, but necessarily in a way that provides content for this blog. Hopefully I will be updating more frequently, although not always with a cartoon.

Sometimes I look at the stats for this blog. OK, I look at them often! Not really to see how many hits I've had (I've sort of grown out of that little obsession) - but to see what's popular, where people are coming from - and the biggest thrill of all, seeing how many people from other countries have visited. This week I've noticed an old post, back from February 2007 showing up as THE most popular post. I found this strange, as it wasn't such a popular post when it was first posted. Today I noticed that it had been linked to a BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/noise/?progra mme=ray_mears I guess that explains why it's been getting so many hits. A big thank you to whomever it was who posted this link to the BBC, proving there's life in old posts. This shouldn't be funny - but it is. Cop in America is demonstrating the dangers of firearms to a class of kids, and then shoots himself in the foot with it - after assuring them it's unloaded. Watch to the end, as the audience reaction is also funny, when he surprisingly continues with his demonstration with an assault rifle! Blogged with Flock

I've been away from this blog for far too long. I have been busy with other things. A few cartoons have been drawn. A few special projects are nearing completion, and in between I've been on Holiday. Still hoping to hear back from a few cartoons that have been sent off. Trouble is there's no way of knowing how long to wait, before deciding if I should use them in other context. I'll give it no more than 1 month, I think. ... In the meantime I still need to draw up some of the ideas from my notebook. Good news is that there's a new version of FLOCK which so far appears more stable than the last build. This is good news for me, as I find it the easiest browser to use for blogging. If you haven't heard of FLOCK before, it's a version of Firfox, which has special features for bloggers. I can right click on an image (as I've done above) to post something to the blog. Prison Officer Cartoon

Prison Cartoon . ... I know looking at this blog lately might give the impression that I'm not drawing many cartoons these days. This cartoon was drawn the day the news broke about Prison Officer s going on strike. I submitted it to a magazine, but then the very next day the strike was off. Oh well. That's always the risk with topical cartoons. Topical can change into nothing within a very small space of time, often before the ink is even dry. This is especially relevant with the print publishing world, who prepare their publications weeks before they hit the news stands. ... Cartoon strip idea hasn't really moved on much. I've a few character ideas, which I'll be sharing with you over the next few weeks.

...damn it, and I can't show you them! Yesterday I drew three of what I hope will be seen as the best cartoon gags I've ever drawn. Well, OK - one was a bit of a 'filler'. They have been sent off to PE - so fingers crossed. The good news (for you lot) is that it looks like the previous gags I sent have been ignored, so I might just post one of them here tomorrow. A bit strange all this. I'm still drawing at the same rate I was before - I'm just not showing anyone (as yet - they will start to filter through soon). You'll just have to take my word for it. Things will become more cartoony soon, I promise. Meanwhile, here's an old gag that some of the newer visitors might not have seen, and some of the very old visitors might have forgotten about!

Unproductive Day ONE

Well, I've not drawn any cartoons at all today. So there's nothing for me to tell you about and then not publish it on here anyway. . Still haven't heard back from the National Publication that I sent two cartoons to yesterday. One of the cartoons was very topical, but then the news changed overnight, so it might be pushed aside because of this. We shall see. The good news is that I might be free to publish it on here soon - but then it's no longer topical, so you'll probably hate it anyway. . I've spent most the day looking at buying a printer. Too many choices you see. That, and the fact that I hate spending money - so I'm looking for something which will be cheap to run. Funny how many printers are cheaper than the ink that's inside them! If only cars were cheaper than a tank full of petrol, eh? . I'm weighing up my options at the moment. Seriously looking at buying the HP Laserjet 1018 (pictured), as it's cheap, it's a laser printer, and I don't need to print in colo...

I've been looking at the list on Blog Top List, mainly to see how my blog is performing, but also to view the competition I'm up against (well, at least as far as BTL is concerned). . PCWORLD cartoon. Well what do you know. After making a big song and dance about the likely lack of gag cartoons, here's one anyway. The reason I've posted this, is that I can't see it being very publishable. Most Newspapers/Magazines wouldn't want to upset a company who might be a current or future advertiser. Having had a (what I consider) a gentle pop at the 'experts' of PCWORLD, I'll be off there tomorrow to buy a new printer. They're OK as long as: You don't ask for advice.You are in a hurry, and can't wait to buy it cheaper online.They have a special offer on.

So here's the first post, after the last one which announced the lack of gag cartoons on here. So there's no cartoon here. I'm going to tell you about the two cartoons I've just drawn, and where I've sent them. One is about Prison officers. The other is about ball scratching. Fascinating stuff eh? I've sent them both to possibly the only Magazine in the UK that accepts email submissions. It's all too easy. So they are going to get most of my cartoons, as they come of the production line, so to speak. I will keep you all posted on what response I may get. There is another idea in the pot - which I think is probably unpublishable, so maybe I'll draw that now, before my tea. The sun is still shining.
