A movie changed my life
2009-03-04 06:47:00
I see movies once a yearMaybe twiceBut one day Steve Register told me we were going to watch a movieI heart huckabeesWe drove for like an hour to some movie theatre far awayThe only place in town... scratch that...the only place anywhere that was showing itAnd I saw a movie that changed my life. That and Pulp Fiction :)The movie has one scene that I think about at least once a week. This guy holds up a blanket and goes through this speal..."this blanket is the universe... all matter... everything that is in it.. ever was and ever will be... over here is london.. As he pokes a finger up in the blanket... Over here is the Eiffel Tower... Over here is us... here is the wind ... etc"You get the picture.Eternally connected the matter of the universe isThere are not races, groups, countries, rivals etc.We are all different and of the same...So when we fail to see ourselves as part of the whole...we shoot ourselves in the foot...You can love your neighbor...You can love people of all races.....

Stop the Celebration
2008-12-19 08:15:00
Approximately 1 week before the biggest holiday we have in the USA,there could not be a worse time for this post.We have got to stop the celebration. it is getting out of hand.I feel like life is grand, and the celebration of life is even grander, and should live with us in every breath, every step, every endeavor, and every heartbeat.long live the celebration of life. However, the Americanized form of celebration has to stop. Here is a list of hoidays that people celebrate of the top of my head1 The month and a week long celebration that goes from Thanks giving to New Years and includes Christmas2. president's Day3. MLK Day4. Veterans Day5. Columbus Day6. St Patricks Day7. Mothers Day8. Fathers Day9. Halloween10. July 4th11. EasterOk , that is all the holidays... Typically we have about one holiday worthe celebrating per month...Each is unique with its own equally wack celebration/americanized excuse for scheming you of ways to separate with your $ to show someone, something, or so...

Blurring the lines
2008-10-20 04:03:00
The internet has changed the way we liveAnd a lot of it has been good.A wonderful new tool that people have to realize how to use.We are still learning.I buy 90% of my personal items online.Cheaper, don't have to leave the house, cheaper etc.And you can find pretty much anything online, where you would have to shop around for days or weeks to find the stuff you want in your town or area.Soooo efficient.Efficiency of the internet is great. And the uniformity of shopping is great, in the fact that most shops online are built in a similar fashion.Product image, product description, and opportunity to purchase desired quantity of said product.so simple so great. But it is eerily similar to the way social networks are designed.Facebook, Myspace, Hi5All these places allow you to browse people rather easilyYou can sit there and look for friends, look for famous people, or look for hot members of the opposite sex.it's great to reunite people and to allow a quick way to communicate extremely...

Amerykah
2008-10-07 08:47:00
Amerykah is a funny placeOr really the world in general. But america especially.Greed seems to be the foundation of american society. Our greed has led us to want so much for ourselves.to have our hands in every pot.Bigger houses, nicer cars, cheap gas, good insurance, vacation days, nice clothes, etc, etc.Maybe not american so much as humanOnce you taste the good life it's hard to turn your back on it.I know quite a few foreign students that live in Amerykah while attending collegethey always talk about how great their home country isAmerica sucks... it's not good here.. my place is full of much more joy and happinesswherever that place isBut when it comes down to it... they do anything they can to stay hereKeep going to school for years and yearslooking for companies to sponsor their visasFake marraigesHide illegallyWhatever the situation is.How bad must your country be to do one of the above to leave behind all of your childhood friends, family, and the great places from behind.M...

This story is about a 375 pound man
2008-08-24 19:14:00
I spent the past 5 months at a whole in the wall gym in Columbus OhioTraining with and learning from some of the strongest people in the worldI learned more than I ever thought I would and saw and heard about things I never dreamed could be true.I came home with enough stories to fill this blog for the next two years, but today I'll focus on one thing I saw that I still can't believe I did............He had the face of a 14 year old boyRosy cheeks and an uplifting spirit, he had a great outlook on all things. He was a young kid trapped in the body of a giant. He stood 6'5" and weighed 375 lbsThat is after he kicked his shoes off and placed his well padded feet on the cold metal scale. This giant possessed a skill, a skill to lift weightsWhich made him the alpha male as soon as he stepped into the weight room.As he lifted others looked on in aweThe sheer power of his movements made the hardest tasks look simpleHis strength and dedication and developing his strength had already made ...

My love for flowers
2008-07-14 05:40:00
With the current lifestyle i liveI have ample free timeTo sit back and contemplateTo rest and recoverAnd enough time to stop and smell the rosesand read some books as wellOne of the books i have been reading discusses flowersI love flowers, and even worked in a flower shopDuring that time, i might not have loved them so muchSince i had to wake up at 5:45 am every day to cut them, water them, pack them, and lift their boxes off the trucksBut the flower serves very little functional purpose in our lifeSure some flowers are useful to insects, but a lot of them don't do shitBut the creator of our world has a purpose for everythingI'm no genius, but i think they're placed there for pure visual satisfactionJust to sit back and appreciate the beauty of the flowers in the world.Kinda symbolic to the human lifeThey are young and protected, they bud out on their own, and they wither away and die.their life span is shortbut in their prime they are simply beautifuljust as they arethat is all...

Rarely do I promote without pay
2008-02-19 07:45:00
Rarely do i do anything unless it is for payBut today my services are freeBecause i have become a devout fan ofthe western conference of the NBAThey are their own leageForget the eastern conference. There are 6 games separating the #1 team from the #9 team in the Western Conference. There are 10 great teams2 will not make the playoffsThe last 30 games of the season are going to be a terrific ride.A ride I will be watching.Especially on TNT when my boys charles, kenny, and ernie are on with thursday night tnt show.SO here are my hopes and dreams for the nba season as it continues.#1 is to see my boy shaq play well with phoenix#2 is to see Golden State in the playoffs...#3 is to see the Lakers take the western conference crownThat's all i wish for.If i was greedy I would go into more detail, but this is enough for nowTURN ON YOUR TV's..If you are not sitting on your couch watching tv, you are missing out on the best NBA season ever.Enjoy the ride

You can't do it all....when you're young
2008-01-02 23:54:00
Most old people i see are boredand most young people are full of energy etc.Surely it's easier when you are youngeryou are more mobile, healthier, you don't hurtBut it's also a state of mindIt's about never saying can'tOlder people are quick to use the word can'toften followed up by, i have this, that, or the other wrong with meAnd it's understandable. But I have a plan.. a mental outline... a visual.. that i'm hoping for.All these young bucks do recreational drugsWhen they are young, able to bounce back etc.But i have never used a drug, or touched an alcoholic substanceBut I willI just see no point now... Too much other stuff to do.At some point, I'll want to mellow a littleProbably around the age of 86At which point I'll start clubbing, drinking, and smokingI don't know about the clubbingBut as long as I can remember I've planned to start doing recreational drugs in my 80's and 90's.Hopefully I can have a good group of friends to do them withThat would be idealBut you...

Chris, I moved out - Willie
2007-12-20 22:04:00
I lived with a close friend of mine named Chris Perry for most of a summerUntil I moved out on him without telling him.He left town for a day or so to see some friends across the state. He comes home two days later,I'm gone, my stuff is gone, and he finds a note attached to the clipboard where he kept his bills. On the clipboard was a check for my portion of the month's rent and a note that reads as follows"Chris, I moved out. - Willie "I wish I could take 100% of the credit for this idea, however I must properly cite my sources as I learned in graduate school.Stephen Esposito was the creator of the idea.I acted upon it and came up with the clever note.Citing sources is very important. I learned that in graduate school when I cited wikipedia as a source for some of my research papers. My instructor thought wikipedia was not a reliable sourceI asked if the information was correctIt was....Reputability is key...blah blah blahBut in this case, you can't find a better source for an or...

Sixth GradeMy first few weeks of middle schoolLooking back, I think everyone must have felt a little awkward and out of place at that stage in their life.Hormones, mood swings, growth spurts, acne, etc.I was one of those kids that grew out before I grew up.So i was robustly round throughout most of middle school.Everything was roundI had some huge chubby cheeks, a belly, and I shopped for jeans said husky on the tagMy mother told me they were for strong boysI bought itA few weeks into middle school, after all the smelly kids came back from the gymThey would have people come talk to us each day about opportunities we would haveSome were completely lame and could be easily shrugged offSome peppy 8th grade girl would come in and talk about the great opportunity we all had to do community service by raking leaves and picking up trash in the parking lots.Others were clubs and crap like thatBut then one day the band guy came in.And he was a salesman, a good one.He made the magnificent wor...

High school Homies
2007-10-03 06:41:00
Like most high school kids, John Paul had no idea what he wanted to do with his lifeAnd to be perfectly honest, he hadn't put much thought to itHe was just kinda content going through the motions and doing what they told himGeometry, English, Spanish, Art, Lacrosse practice, and guitar lessonsHe just showed up to everything when they told him toHe studied the night before for the ACT, he daydreamed in class, and coasted through the public school system. It was his junior year and John had an English teacher that was making them read poetry every day.He didn't much like it, and certainly didn't appreciate it until he started reading a guy named Paul Beatty. It wasn't that same old flowery crap about a warm summer's day and the brisk wind that whisps you away to the stoney brook across from who gives a shit what it was across from, it was some fictitious bullshit is what John Paul was thinking as he readBut this Beatty guy, his shit smacked you in the faceFor the first time, John P...
