Just saw this on Stomp This car was parked this way on Katong Road for "a good 10 minutes while the driver went to buy food", according to "Chewing Gum", who sent us this picture via email Aug 16 as an example of "blatant disregard for other road users". Dirty Singapore Canel

Just saw this on Stomp. Sad to say we have all seen this every now and then when we pass by any huge canels...There is a huge load of crap in there...plastic bags, toys, tissue paper, drinking bottles and cans, news paper, aluminum foils, food wrapping, cigerettes duds, Crumpled-up cigerette box, tampons and even condoms!! Yes we are a bunch of disgusting people too. How clean we claim to be and all we have to do is to take alook at our friendly neighbourhood canel like this to find out how socially irresponsible some Sing apopreans can get. I do feel that even with us branded as a "fine" city, not much efforts were placed into catching more litter bugs. The situation only go worse when the government decided to outsource their street cleaning to private companies. This was discussed in newspapers and some talk show some time back. The private companies would hire lesser people to cover a bigger area to clean and paying them a fraction of the salary the government used to. There...
