Attorneys and Physicians...
2007-08-07 01:40:00 Two attorneys boarded a flight out of Seattle. One sat in the window seat, the other sat in the middle seat. Just before take-off, a physician got on and took the aisle seat next to the two attorneys. The physician kicked off his shoes, wiggled his toes and was settling in when the attorney in the window seat said, "I think I'll get up and get a coke. "No problem," said the physician, "I'll get it for you." While he was gone, one of the attorneys picked up the physician's shoe and spat in it. When the physician returned with the coke, the other attorney said,"That looks good, I think I'll have one too." Again, the physician obligingly went to fetch it and while he was gone, the other attorney picked up the other shoe and spat in it. The Physician returned and they all sat back and enjoyed the flight. As the plane was landing, the physician slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened. "How long must this go on?&quo...
Get rich quick!
2007-08-07 01:37:00 A young man asked an old rich man how he made his money. The old guy fingered his worsted wool vest and said, "Well, son, it was 1932. The depth of the Great Depression. I was down to my last nickel. I invested that nickel in an apple. I spent the entire day polishing the apple and, at the end of the day, I sold the apple for ten cents. The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples. I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them at 5:00 pm for 20 cents. I continued this system for a month, by the end of which I'd accumulated a fortune of $1.37. Then my wife's father died and left us two million dollars." More About: Rich , Quick
Christmas is here!
2007-08-07 01:29:00 "Christmas is almost on us," said the teacher, and tomorrow I want all of you boys and girls to bring something to illustrate what Christmas is all about.Next day, each pupil had brought something along. Little Sally was first. "I've brought a toy reindeer," she said, "because Santa's sleigh is pulled by reindeer."Then came George, who had brought a piece of the deodar tree from his garden."This is what Christmas trees are made of," he explained. Little Bruce had brought some wrapping paper, and Marcie brought a picture of a turkey. All of which the teacher praised, but expressed the wish that someone had used a bit more initiative, and also concentrated more on the spiritual aspects of Christmas.Inevitably, Little Johnnie at the back of the class had had his hand up all the while, snapping his fingers, and hissing "Miss, Miss." And as a last desperate resort she calls on him."Okay, Little Johnnie," says teacher. "Wh...
Don't mess!
2007-08-07 01:26:00 A grade school teacher gave the assignment to her class, that each student should think of a story and then a moral for that story to share with the class the next day. The following day the teacher asks for the first volunteer to tell their story, and little Suzy raises her hand."My dad owns a farm and every Sunday we load the chicken eggs on the truck and drive into town to sell them at the market. Well, one Sunday we hit a big bump and all the eggs flew out of the basket and onto the road." The teacher asks for the moral of the story and Suzy replies, "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket."Next little Lucy offers to tell her story Lucy, and she says, "Well my dad owns a farm too and every weekend we take the chicken eggs and put them in the incubator. Last weekend only 8 of the 12 eggs hatched." The teacher asks for the moral of the story and Lucy replies, "Don't count your eggs before they're hatched."Finally it's little Johnny's tu... Can I go now?
2007-08-07 01:23:00 It is near the end of the school year. The teacher has turned in her grades. There is really nothing to do and all the kids are restless. The teacher says, "Whoever answers the questions I ask first and correctly can leave early today." Little Johnny says to himself, "Good, I want to get outta here I'm smart and will answer the question".The teacher asked, "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?Before Johnny could open his mouth, Joya said, "Abraham Lincoln". The teacher said, "That's right Joya. You can go".Johnny was MAD. The teacher asked, "Who said, 'I Have a Dream'?" Before Johnny could open his mouth, Mary said, "Martin Luther King". "That's right Mary. You can go".Johnny was even MADDER than before. The teacher asked, "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"Before Johnny could open his mouth, Marol said, "John Kennedy". "That's right Marol. You can ...

Friends in cyberspace
2007-08-04 18:56:00 This post was sparked off by a post written by a dear friend, Wise One.The idea of making friends in cyberspace has always somewhat perplexed me, as I find it odd carrying on sometimes quite penetrating discourses with people whom I have never met face to face. Now that I have been in the blogosphere for some time, I consider some of these people real friends. My hope is that this these friendships last for time immemorial. The blogosphere has tremendous potential to connect people from all over the world. And this is only the beginning. One thing I can say without a doubt: the fact that I can publish my thoughts at will, rather than having to wait on approval from an editor at some magazine, has made me much more productive and creative. Creativity is a drive every bit as exigent as hunger or sex, but one needs resources to feed it. The web is one such resource, its particular virtue being its ability to entirely sweep away the obstacles that hithe... More About: Friends , Cyberspace

Plans for summer!
2007-08-02 00:43:00 Little Johnny is at it again!... It was the last day of the school year, and Miss Figpot was talking to her fourth grade class. She asked "What will you be doing this summer?""Me and my family will go to the beach a lot," Suzie answered."That sounds like fun," said Miss Figpot. "How about you, Emma? What will you do this summer?""My family just bought new bikes will ride together." Emma replied enthusiastically."That sounds lovely," said the teacher. She continued with all her students until she got to Little Johnny in the back of the room."What will you do this summer, Johnny?""Nothing," Little Johnny responded timidly."Nothing? Aren't you going to do anything with your family?" she asked, trying to get Little Johnny to use his imagination. "Nothing." He replied"Will you go to the beach?""No.""Will you ride bikes?""No, never!" Little Joh... More About: Summer , Plans
Period!
2007-07-31 17:33:00 The kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out about something exciting and relate it to the class the next day. When the time came for the little kids to give their reports, the teacher was calling on them one at a time. She was reluctant to call upon little Johnny, knowing that he sometimes could be a bit crude. But eventually his turn came.Little Johnny walked up to the front of the class, and with a piece of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard, then sat back down. Well the teacher couldn't figure out what Johnnie had in mind for his report on something exciting, so she asked him just what that was."It's a period," reported Johnny. "Well I can see that," she said. "But what is so exciting about a period.""Damned if I know," said Johnnie, "but this morning my sister said she missed one. Then Daddy had a heart attack, Mummy fainted and the man next door shot himself More About: Peri , Period

Destiny?
2007-07-29 22:00:00 There is an ongoing debate about the role of destiny in the lives of human beings. There was a time when it was almost an accepted fact of life that each and every event was governed by destiny of human beings. Astrology was considered a science. Then with the advent of modern times the importance of role of destiny as a concept started losing weight. Today, belief in destiny is considered a superstition by most people. Destiny is defined as " an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future. "Contrast this with the believers of free will. This doctrine asserts that man is able to make choices according to his own will. All our successes, failures and actions are governed by the decisions we take. If we take correct decisions and act accordingly, no one can prevent us from achieving what we want to. If we fail, it must be due to something wrong on our part. We have the option to take decisions using our free will.&n...
Perfectionism!
2007-07-28 18:47:00 Just when I think I have something figured out, along comes another how-to-article telling me how to be or do something better or even change my entire life. No matter where I turn, I am constantly reminded that I am not good enough in more ways than one. I am not smart enough, not rich enough, not slim enough, not efficient enough, not handsome enough, not powerful enough, not "with it" enough and probably "out of it" altogether. It doesn't stop there. It gets worse. My time-management is out of date and my clothes went out with the victorian era. Yes, I am my own worst critic. Growing up with perfectionist parents didn't help either. It wasn't until their seventies, that my father could tolerate fingerprints on his freshly washed car and that my mother learned to enjoy a meal without matching table décor. Perfectionism is driving me up the wall or around the bend and neither direction is desirable!
A Revolution in the Making
2007-07-28 01:40:00 While searching the Internet for blogging sites , I came across a whole blogging community, which grabbed my interest greatly. The aspect that appealed to me the most was that it is a very personal type of blogging community. Many people talk about their feelings and issues about life with people that technically they have never met face to face. However, the type of camaraderie I 'witnessed' as a bystander truly amazed me. These people talked to each other as though they are extremely close friends, and the strange thing is I think this is the reality. When one person has something important happen to them in their life, up to 40 or more comments will arrive under their blog entry with advice and information as well as emotional support from their blogging friends. Of course there are some differences in opinion, but the general perspective seems to be one of a positive approach to humanity. People are really spilling out the... Reflections on Blogging
2007-07-27 17:51:00 I still consider myself to be a novice at blog writing. But as I've got a few entries under my belt I can tell you about an unexpected bonus of this process of journalism. A lot of people think that blog writers are just people who are blabbering on self-righteously about what they believe to be true in life. On the contrary, for me writing a blog has helped me to reflect on my experiences that I may otherwise have forgotten if I hadn't written them down.Whether others have read my thoughts has become less of a priority for me.I also find it rewarding that I get to 'relive' certain moments in my previous life.Going through old entries in my blog is a rewarding experience for me.You can be transported to the moment in time you were writing about, as well as the moment and feelings you had when writing the blog entry.I think the blog can give you the chance to get to know yourself better, something all humans could find beneficial.... Is Life Just Happening to You?
2007-07-25 01:19:00 It's easy to look at one's life and be content with where one is. You have a good job, a spouse or significant other, children, a nice car, and all the trappings of success. But the real question is, are you happy with what you are doing? You see, life has a way of just happening to people. Your first job tends to be the job that you were first offered, in an industry that may or may not really interest you, doing what you may or may not have a real talent in. Your career then tends to grow from there. You get promoted or even change companies. But the tendency is to stay with what you are familiar with and what you have done in the past. Months turn into years and at some point in time you find that you are on a career path that you never really intended to be on at all. It may be a great, wonderful career path doing all of the things that are important to you, or it may be a path where you have had some successes, but don't find inspiring. ... More About: Life

Grandma's 100th Birthday
2007-07-22 23:11:00 The family wheeled Grandma out onto the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn't speak very well, but she could write notes when she needed to communicate. After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right. A short time later, she started leaning off to the left, so again, the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left. Soon, she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her, then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up. A nephew who arrived late came running up to Grandma and said, "Hi, Grandma, you're looking good! How are they treating you?" Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew, "They won't let me fart." More About: Birthday

Antioxidants-How do they help you?
2007-07-21 01:47:00 Recently, there has been a lot of talk about how useful antioxidants are for us to remain healthy and fit.But have you ever wondered what antioxidants are and how do they help us?Antioxidant is a classification of several organic substances, including vitamins C and E, vitamin A (which is converted from beta-carotene), selenium (a mineral), and a group known as the carotenoids. Carotenoids, of which beta- carotene is the most popular, are a pigment that adds color to many fruits and vegetables -- without them, carrots wouldn't be orange, for example. Together as antioxidants, these substances are thought to be effective in helping to prevent cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Antioxidants serve to deactivate certain particles called free radicals. In humans, free radicals usually come in the form of O2, the oxygen molecule these free radicals can cause damage to cell walls, certain cell structures, and genetic material within the cells. In the worst case scenario and over a long tim...
Apple or Pear?Which One Are You?
2007-07-20 01:54:00 Did you know that the size of your waist in relation to the size of your hips can help determine your risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other conditions? In general, the higher your waist-hip ratio is, the higher your health risks may be, regardless of how tall or big-boned you are.Your waist-to-hip ratio tells you if you're pear-shaped (which means that fat builds up on your hips), apple-shaped (fat gravitates to your waist and upper torso), or avocado-shaped (somewhere in between). It's important to know what shape you have because an avocado- or apple-shaped body can put you at risk of certain weight-related health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. How do you measure the waist and hip sizes? For your waist, measure around the narrowest part of your waist (or if that isn't easy to find, measure at your belly button). For your hip size, measure around the widest part of your hips. Healthy ratio forWomen is:0.8 or lower Men is:1... More About: Apple , Pear

Hair Loss-The Role of DHT and Sebum
More articles from this author:2007-07-19 01:32:00 Earlier I had discussed Causes of Hair Loss in Women and Male Pattern Baldness. To further elaborate on the subject,I would like to highlight the role of two substances,DHT and Sebum in aggravating Hair Loss.Alpha-5-Reductase is an enzyme that converts testosterone, the male sex hormone, into the more potent dihydrotestosterone or DHT, causing hair thinning and hair loss in women and men (MPB, or male pattern baldness). This DHT is the natural metabolite of the human body that is the main reason for hair loss. DHT is also responsible for shrinking hair follicle with which the hair follicle gets smaller and finer. This is referred to as miniaturization with which the hair ultimately falls off. This is how DHT is responsible for about 95% of hair loss. The men or women who lose more hair are those who are genetically pre-disposed in producing more DHT than others. In addition to all this, DHT tends to create a wax like substance called sebum around the hair roots and it is this a... More About: Role 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
