Genuine pictures of aliens
2007-08-04 20:08:00 It seems that Egypt is not the only place that has been visited by Aliens in ancient times. This plate called 'The Lolladoff plate' is a 12,000 year old stone dish found in Nepal. It clearly shows a disk shaped UFO (top of pic, hard to see from the angle of the plate however). There is also a figure on the disc looking remarkably similar to a Grey. Notice the spiral galaxy shape as well, with the alien inside it and the ufo at the begging of it. Galaxies come in spiral shape and through out India, Egypt and Peru and other ancient sites the spiral shape is very often seen. This galaxy spiral is probably there to tell us that they flew here from another galaxy, or the spiral shape could signify energy or eternity, other meanings attributed to the spiral by Egyptians and other ancient cultures with inexplicable advanced methods in astronomy and spirituality.Picture of a rock carving in Egypt, I took this picture myself and up close you can see ... Mothers in Philippines break Guinness World Record for breastfeeding
2007-08-04 08:55:00 MANILA, Philippines , 16 May 2006 ? Almost 4,000 mothers in the Philippines ? along with their babies ? have helped set a new world record for simultaneous breast-feeding. It easily beat the previous Guinness World Record set by 1,135 women in Berkeley, California. ?The malnutrition situation in the Philippines is devastating,? said UNICEF Representative in the Philippines Nicholas K. Alipui. ?The situation can be reversed with simple but effective measures. The effort to break the Guinness World Record is one such measure.? Mothers converge Early on the morning of 4 May, wave upon wave of mothers from different districts of Manila converged on the San Andres Sports Complex carrying their babies. Once all 3,738 women had been registered, Manila Mayor Jose ?Lito? Atienza gave the go-ahead for the record attempt to begin. The event, which required participants to breastfeed their babies for one minute, was organized by the City of Manila, Children for Breastfeeding (an organization ... More About: Break
U.S. Breast Feeding rates rise to Record high
2007-08-03 17:57:00 The percentage of U.S. mothers who breast-feed their babies has reached the highest level on record amid mounting evidence that it provides many health benefits to the child, U.S. officials said on Thursday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 74 percent of American women who gave birth in 2004 breast-fed their babies for at least some period of time, continuing an upward trend since the early 1990s. "We've made quite a bit of progress," CDC epidemiologist Dr. Celeste Philip, lead author of a CDC report on breast-feeding, said in a telephone interview. Breast -feeding rates just about reached the government's target of 75 percent, the report showed. But many women did not stick exclusively to breast-feeding in the first months after birth as recommended by experts, turning instead to baby formula, the report showed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that women who do not have health problems exclusively breast-feed their infants f... More About: High , Record , Rise , Feeding
Seven-legged lamb born
2007-08-03 10:50:00 A six-day-old lamb at a veterinary clinic on New Zealand's South Island bleats like any other newborn sheep, but is rather different in other ways. This lamb has seven legs, local media reported today. Two of the extra legs hang uselessly behind the lamb's forelegs. The animal has three hind legs, one of them with two hoofs. It walks using its two forelegs and three hind legs, the Ashburton Guardian newspaper said. The lamb was born last Friday on the farm of Dave and Di Callaghan. Mr Callaghan said he was surprised to find the creature, born with a twin, walking round in the paddock with its mother and normal twin sibling. "I have never seen anything like that," he said. Veterinarian Steve Williams at the Canterbury Vets clinic in the rural town of Methven said he believed an error during embryo formation had resulted in the lamb being born polydactyl - with many legs - a condition that occurs once in several million sheep. He said the lamb was also hermaphrodite and missing a po... More About: Lamb , Seven
Armless driver in spotlight
2007-08-02 12:55:00 Michael Wiley demonstrates how he drives in the driveway of his Port Richey homeNEW PORT RICHEY - Before there was Paris or Lindsay, there was Michael. That's Michael Francis Wiley, who has shown far more gumption than any spoiled celebutante but not much better judgment when behind the wheel. The Pasco County man overcame the loss of two arms and a leg in a childhood accident and taught himself how to drive using his stumps - but not, according to authorities, how to obey the rules of the road. Wiley's license has been suspended at least 19 times, and on Friday he is scheduled to be sentenced on a host of traffic and drug infractions. He faces up to five years in prison. The media clamor surrounding Wiley's day in court is reaching a fever pitch, at least by west Pasco standards. The 6th Judicial Circuit has imposed "pool" rules on media covering the sentencing hearing because so many Florida TV stations requested access. That means only one videocamera and one still photographe... More About: Driver , Spotlight

Scientists excited by Indonesian-caught coelacanth
2007-07-30 09:03:00 MANADO, Indonesia - Two months ago Indonesian fisherman Justinus Lahama caught a fish so exceptional that an international team of scientists rushed here to investigate.A very rare coelacanth fish as Indonesian, Japanese and French specialists (unseen) carry out an autopsy of in Manado, North Sulawesi, in June. Coelacanth s are among the world's oldest fish species. Their fossil records date back more than 360 million years and suggest the animal has changed little in that time. [Agencies]French experts equipped with sonar and GPS asked Lahama to reconstruct, in his dugout canoe, exactly what it was he did that enabled him to catch a rare coelacanth fish, an awkward-swimming species among the world's oldest. Last May 19, Lahama and his son Delvy manoevred their frail canoe into the Malalayang river, on the outskirts of Manado, on northern Sulawesi island. Like any other morning, they rowed out to sea and fished within 200 metres (yards) of the beach. "I very qui... More About: Scientists , Caught , Cant

Sex for the motherland: Russian youths encouraged to procreate at camp
2007-07-28 20:32:00 Remember the mammoths, say the clean-cut organisers at the youth camp's mass wedding. "They became extinct because they did not have enough sex. That must not happen to Russia".Obediently, couples move to a special section of dormitory tents arranged in a heart-shape and called the Love Oasis, where they can start procreating for the motherland. With its relentlessly upbeat tone, bizarre ideas and tight control, it sounds like a weird indoctrination session for a phoney religious cult. But this organisation - known as "Nashi", meaning "Ours" - is youth movement run by Vladimir Putin's Kremlin that has become a central part of Russian political life.Nashi's annual camp, 200 miles outside Moscow, is attended by 10,000 uniformed youngsters and involves two weeks of lectures and physical fitness. Attendance is monitored via compulsory electronic badges and anyone who misses three events is expelled. So are drinkers; alcohol is banned. But sex is encouraged, and condoms are nowhere on ... 2007-07-26 11:17:00 World's First Flying Car Enters Production In a moment we've been waiting for since the first time we saw The Jetsons, the first flying car has finally gone on sale. Just like the car George uses to drop off the kids, the Moller M200G Volantor is shaped like a saucer. To avoid the need to pass FAA regulations, the civilian version of the Volantor is restricted to heights of 10 feet, but can travel as fast as 50mph and fly for up to 90minutes. Military or rescue versions could be unencumbered by such limitations. Depending on the number of orders, prices could be as low as $90,000. Video of the Volantor in action after the jump. The Moller M200 Flying Car Moller, better known for the yet-to-reach-production Skycar, have already started work on the 67 orders received so far. They envision uses including extreme off roading - the Volantor is unencumbered by any ground-based obstacles - or as a ferry between a yacht and the land. In the long run, they'd like to see the vehicle used as t... More About: World

5 Deadliest Cities in The World
2007-07-20 12:12:00 1. Chernobyl, Ukraine When you hear Chernobyl, you immediately think nuclear disaster. It was, in fact the worst nuclear accident in history. A huge fallout cloud of radioactive dust spread across vast swathes of the Soviet Union, Europe and Eastern North America. As a result, an estimated 9 thousand people have contracted cancer and died. The disaster displaced over 336,000 people. Life expectancy is low. However, according to scientist James Lovelock, Chernobyl was an ecological success: animals can now roam around free without being hunted. Environmental Graffiti disagrees. 2. Dzerzhinsk, Russia Until recently, the city of Dzerzhinsk in Russia used to produce huge quantities of chemical weapons, including mustard gas and lewisite. Chemical weapons ceased to be produced by 1945. However, the waste was buried underground, contaminating water and crops. The site however, remains the largest producer of chemicals for the Russian Federation. Life expectancy is low at 42 for men and ... More About: World , Cities , The World , Lies

How to Chill a Hot Beer or Soda in 3 Minutes
2007-07-09 10:24:00 So my father and brother-in-law were over this weekend for a barbecue. My fridge was stuffed with appetizers and salads so I was only able to fit a 12-pack of beer. Normally, this would have been enough so I didn't worry about it. After a couple hours, the stash was depleted.I did have some more beer in the garage but the 90+ degree Chicago heat had rendered it useless for at least an hour. Now what? These guys all had designated drivers and, in all honesty, they wanted more beer. Little did I know, the old man had a trick up his sleeve that I had never heard of. If I had a video camera ready, I would have taped this because it was pretty cool (sorry, no pun intended there). Here is how he took beer from 80+ degrees to (seemingly) 40 degrees in about 3 minutes. 1. He took 6 hot beers from my garage and he placed them into a steel pot from the kitchen 2. He tossed in enough ice cubes to completely cover the beer 3. He then filled the pot with water 4. Next, and this is the trick,... More About: Beer , Soda , Chill , Minutes , Minute

Turtles to test wireless network
2007-07-05 16:56:00 DEERFIELD, Mass. - From the way he thrashed his head, kicked and tried to make a getaway, M16 made it clear he didn't like human contact. But the researchers wrangling with him could be helping to save his species.Despite his best efforts to escape the clutches of two scientists from the University of Massachusetts and get back to the swamp he was just lifted from, the 40-pound snapping turtle finally gave up and let Mike Jones and Matt Garber do their jobs. Using a combination of orthodontic cement and duct tape, the students attached a postcard-sized waterproof computer to the turtle's shell. After christening the 16th male turtle he found in the area as "M16," Jones scribbled some information about the turtle's shell markings into a field book and set the snapper free. Knowing where M16 goes could help scientists protect him.n an experiment taking place along the Deerfield River in western Massachusetts, two otherwise unrelated groups of researchers are working together: compu... The little girl who can give birth to her own brother or sister
2007-07-03 22:53:00 When Melanie Boivin learned that her young daughter Flavie had a rare condition which would damage her fertility, she was determined to find a way to help her. After a year of research on the Internet, talking to experts and discussing it with her partner, she came up with the answer - to donate some of her own eggs for eventual use by seven-year-old Flavie. As a result, the little girl could one day give birth to her own half-brother or sister while Miss Boivin, 35, would be both a mother and grandmother to the infant. "The role of a mother is essentially to help her children and if I could do anything in my power to help her I had to do it, and because of my age I had to do it now," Miss Boivin said. "I told myself if she had needed another organ like a kidney I would volunteer without any hesitation, and it is the same kind of thought process for this. "It is not the biological aspect that is as important as caring and raising the child. She would be the real mother as she w... More About: Girl , Birth , Child , Give , Brother

Baby pygmy hippo is born at Paris Zoo
2007-06-28 12:50:00 PARIS - Aldo looks, eats and lazes like a hippopotamus ? but he's only about as big as a human baby, at 21 inches. The pygmy hippo, born this month at the Paris Zoo, is one of only a few dozen in Europe, bred in a special program to boost the rare species. There are no more than 3,000 around the world, mostly concentrated in west African countries such as Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau or Liberia, said Juliane Villenain, a biologist at the zoo in the Bois de Vincennes, a park on Paris' eastern edge. According to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, pygmy hippos have already disappeared from Nigeria.Pygmy hippopotamuses are, unlike their bigger brethren, lonely animals, except during reproduction season. The female takes care of the new born by herself, as little Aldo's mother Anais did, Villenain said. His older brothers, now 7 and 6 years old, live in Spain and Britain.Aldo likes alfalfa, carrots, apples and all sorts of vegetables. Ironically, dogs are allowed on the ?Pink Beach?.?This is not a lesbian beach,? Fausto Ravaglia, the businessman behind the idea to ban men, said. ?It is simply for women to be themselves.?Cinzia Donati, 43, a housewife from Milan, agreed. ?I?ve left my husband and son behind ? and I feel I?ve arrived in paradise,? she said. The baby gorillas who think their keeper is the best mum in the world
2007-06-26 20:44:00 For these two baby gorillas, clinging on to mum is the most natural thing in the world - even if she is making a cup of tea, rather than foraging in a tropical forest. Six-month-old girl Kouki and ten-month-old boy Oudiki were abandoned by their separate mothers soon after they were born. Since then, they have been hand-reared by zookeepers Donna Honey and Matt Stagg at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent. The western lowland gorillas are now doing so well that they are being primed for a return to the wild in their native Africa. Miss Honey, 25, said that the secret of mothering her two unlikely charges was to behave as much like a mother gorilla as possible. "We don't tend to carry them," she said. "We encourage them to grip on to us like they would their mum. We also make gorilla noises to make them feel at home." More About: Baby , World , Gorillas , The World , Gorilla
