iMedExchange in the Web 2.0 landscape
2007-11-06 00:34:00 iMedExchange debuted recently on the Seattle Startup Index (SSI), a monthly listing of website rankings for Seattle-based Web 2.0 startup companies. iMedExchange ranked 167 out of 210, a respectable debut, especially given the incomplete data that was available to the SSI at the time the rankings were set. The accuracy and relevancy of both the Alexa and Compete rankings, and the averaging-approach that SSI uses, are highly debatable; but in the realm of Internet traffic metrics there is no perfection. Each month I will update you on our rank, hopefully as it continues to move up the chart. More About: Landscape
At the ACP conference
2007-11-02 21:23:00 I'm spending the day on Seattle's Pier 66 at the ACP Conference . Diana, Jennifer, and I are talking to physicians, recruiting new advisors, and playing Operation. We're having a contest at our booth to see which doctor can successfully remove the most pieces in 45 seconds. This doctor got 9 pieces out! At this point it looks like he may be the winner, but if any of you are going to here tomorrow (Saturday, Nov 3rd), stop by and try.
My favorite place to unwind
2007-10-31 00:48:00 Though I love being a part of the exciting happenings each week at iMedExchange, it was a little hard to return this Monday, because I cut out early on Friday afternoon to take the ferry over to Whidbey Island, WA to stay at one of my favorite places with my husband: The Inn at Langley. We left our two, beautiful girls, ages 7 and 13, in the care of their grandparents and arrived at the Inn shortly after 4pm. We took advantage of the big Jacuzzi tub that overlooks the water, bundled up on our waterfront deck, and watched the birds and clouds float by. We enjoyed our dinner in front of the fire and watched the full moon reflect all its brightness. We had the best night’s sleep in a very long time. The next morning we read the paper over the complimentary and delicious breakfast at the Inn and then spent an hour getting massages with Kara at the Inn’s Spa Essencia. We took a leisurely drive out to South Whidbey State Park to enjoy the nature of the island. From there, our cr... More About: Place , Favorite , Unwind
Web Cams Made Easy
2007-10-26 06:59:00 I am creating a blog on web cams largely because they can be such a great tool for our physician community. Several physicians have uploaded their questions for presidential candidates using a web cam and realized that it can actually be pretty easy to do. To open up the world of Internet video to those of you who have yet to travel down this path, I thought I'd provide a few web sites for reviews of cameras and a few sites for easy instructions on how to use web cams. Reviews - stick with the granddaddy of all tech product review sites...CNet. It's hard to go wrong with a Logitech or Creative product. Most will run between $40 and $100 these days. Check Amazon.com for pricing and additional reviews. How to Use - Most Webcams now come in an easy to use USB format. There is likely software (a 'driver') included that you must install before installing the device. Beyond the basic installation, however, there can be nuances for configuring elements like lighting and sound.... More About: Made , Easy

Web 2.0 Summit
2007-10-19 08:13:00 I am currently attending the Web 2.0 Summit held every Fall in the epicenter of technology innovation....The Bay Area. This event has become the primary event for Web 2.0 leaders from across the world. This year, the hot topic at the conference has been the rise of Facebook...the popular social networking site started by Harvard drop-out Mark Zuckerberg. The site was once the domain of college students and is now used by people worldwide for connecting and staying up to date with friends. iMedExchange has a lot in common with Facebook....at least architecturally. This will become more apparent in the coming months as we release new functions and features. In addition to Facebook, Google's Marissa Mayer made some interesting comments about Google's forray into healthcare. Most of Mayer's comments involved the digitization of heath information. While Google is known for search, they have a massive infrastructure that can handle mind-boggling amounts of data. She made some obt...

2007-08-15 13:10:00 Yahooooo! Celebration time for all Movable Type enthusiasts around the world! Six Apart just launched today the Movable Type v4.0 know also as Athena Project final release. I must thank for the thousand time this year and not only this year, the team behind this publishing platform that I’ve got to love over time. As a Movable Type consultant I’ve build up over 100 Movable Type driven Web sites and worked with very large as well as mid size organizations and private persons. Since 2003 I’ve been addicted to this project and really enjoyed to use and hack it to adapt its publishing capabilities for all sort of purposes. Blogs, static-like Web sites, they were all powered by Movable Type and my sustainable preference for this solution. I sincerely encourage everyone to give a try to this product right from this Web site, without having to worry about spending time on installing it, just to see what a great step ahead this completely rethought platform is. As always, if you ... More About: Released , Final , Test , Version

Discover Movable Type v4.0 Release Candidate 1 Live on MovableType4.org
2007-07-26 18:33:00 Six Apart just launched Movable Type v4.0 Release Candidate 1 Over the last 2 months the product has passed a long period of daily ongoing work on hundreds of fixes and new features through the beta 1 to beta 7 and this rc 1 releases. While there is still a good number of known issues, I must say that the Six Apart crew did what was humanly possible to build up a strong product which to also contain suggestion from the community that came along the way (i.e. podcasting support). This morning I’ve been trying to upgrade from beta 7 to rc 1, but for some reason I’ve encountered an error. I’ve been waiting for some support from Six Apart, but since there is quite a few hours difference between our time zones, I’ve decided to rather install Movable Type on a new database.
