The Diet Coke/Mentos Guys Are At It Again
2007-10-13 14:18:00 Personally, I don't think this is quite as impressive as the Diet Coke /Mentos geysers, but it is still very entertaining. I imaging this took a bit longer to set up than the Diet Cove/Mentos fountains took to set up as well. Technorati Tags: Diet Coke /Mentos, video Yuwie.com | invite friends. hang out. get paid. World of Warcraft Macro Guide
2007-10-11 00:00:00 The folks over at Blizzard have finally put together a fairly in-depth guide to macros in World of Warcraft . It seems like this would have been published a long time ago, but maybe they anticipated reducing the amount of automation that was available in the game before Burning Crusade and didn't want to produce a macro guide that would be outdated? It seems unlikely. What seems more likely is that they finally decided that the overwhelmingly popular search terms "wow macro guide" should point to a World of Warcraft site. Currently, only the first part of the guide is available. In this first part, the guide does have some fairly decent information in it, though really not much more than you would find in any of the other dozen or so macro guides I've seen around the web. If nothing else, this macro guide has been recently updated and so may contain more relevant information than some of the other guides you might be able to find out there. Such as this tidbit in referen... More About: Guide , Macro
3 Column Blogger Template
2007-10-10 13:53:00 I recently came across an article explaining how to modify a blogger template to use three columns. I like the three column layout and decided to give it a try myself. So, this is the new design. I like having all of my info and other blogger friends on the left side and any ads and such on the right side. What do all think? Wal-Mart = Geek Squad? I Don't Think So
2007-10-10 02:16:00 Today @ PC World announced a story that Wal-Mart is teaming up with Hughes Communication to resell satellite broadband at their retail stores. Additionally, PC world says Wal-Mart is "rumored to be training a Geek Squad -like team of in-house Wal-Mart techies." Isn't that a scary thought? When I think of tech-savvy stores in my local community, I think of Best Buy and Circuit City. I know one of the last retail centers I'm going to think of with tech-savvy employee's is Wal-Mart. I don't know about your local Wal-Mart, but I would say the majority of those people employed by mine work there because they aren't qualified for other employment. My Wal-Mart is full of pimply-faced teenagers and people willing to accept a minimum wage job because that's all that is available. Do you really want someone working on your computer that couldn't find a job anywhere but Wal-Mart? And the fact that they need to train a team speaks volumes. It means they aren't willing to pay ... Groundhog Day - Mystery Topic Challenge #2

If I had a day to live over and over again, like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, I'd be hard pressed to pick which of the days in the past year I might want to choose. You see, I married a wonderful woman on September 16, 2006 and my life has been pretty happy since then. Like all couples we argue occasionally, but most of my life I've spent alone and now I know that I'll have someone to share it with from now on. Perhaps it would be our wedding day. I'd really love, like Bill Murray's character did in Groundhog Day, to replay that day over and over until I get it perfect for her. Our wedding day was wonderful, but there are a f... MMORPG Burnout
2007-10-04 13:34:00 Why is it that it seems like every few months, sometimes less time than that, whatever current MMO I'm playing seems to get boring to me? Is there some facet that is missing in current MMO titles that lead to the burnout? Let's examine some common factors in many of today's MMO titles that might possibly influence burnout. The Grind I think this might be a major contributing factor. Most MMO's out there these days are all built around the concept of a character earning experience and slowly building in power. This is a decent concept and I imagine starting with a really powerful character would be much more boring than building a character's power level over time. But I really think other areas should be explored in character advancement. Perhaps a more skill based system, wherein using the skill garnered more expertise in the skill. (Much like the old LPMud system, if anyone remembers MUD's these days.) It seems that shortly after it gets to be more of a grind to ea... More About: Burnout , MMORPG , Burn
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Preview
2007-10-03 13:35:00 From 1up.com, comes this review by Sean Malloy: We're still playing far too much of The Burning Crusade -- but, for some reason, Blizzard vice president of creative development Chris Metzen seems to be apologizing for it. "It had a lot of high-concept ideas, high-concept environments," he says, calling to mind the psychedelic mushrooms of Zangarmarsh, the tragic majesty of Tempest Keep, "but other than some really nice moments, there was nothing really personal about it." Never mind that MMOs are inherently aloof. Try as you might, you can't really personalize "killing" Illidan for the 17th time with 24 Ventrilo voices arguing over Family Guy reruns and whether the Crystal Spire of Karabor is meant for "Shammies" or "Pallies." Or can you? Wrath of the Lich King , the second World of WarCraft expansion, opens up the icy continent of Northrend in Azeroth and -- if Metzen meets his new narrative goals -- a moral can of worms fo... Haloscan Hijacked My Comments
2007-10-01 23:21:00 I signed up for Haloscan to utilize their trackback url service. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that it would mean that my comments would be through Haloscan, too, when I did this. At first, though, I thought that it might be better than using Blogger's built-in comment system. So, I wasn't too concerned. After perusing about Haloscan a bit, though, I realized that no one had heard from anyone at Haloscan for quite some time and many conjectured about the possible negative future of Haloscan itself and the potential for it to shut down in the future. Well, that didn't sound good, what would happen to all my comments if Haloscan disappeared? I certainly didn't want that. So, I painstakingly dredged through my Blogger template and thought I had successfully removed the Haloscan code and replaced it with the default template code for comments. However, I recently viewed one of my posts and realized that it was still using the Haloscan code. I had no idea, and I thought I had go... More About: Comments , Alos
Halo 3 Makes Me Want To Vomit
2007-09-28 14:06:00 I remember playing Doom when it first came out, way back when, and thinking, this could be a decent game if it didn't make me sick. I was pretty okay moving through any open areas, but corridors and especially having to turn around close to a wall made me rather nauseous. That's pretty much been the case for all first person shooter games as the years have gone by. I've tried many of them and most of them left me gripping my stomach in pain. As the landscapes in FPS games became more and more realistic looking, however, the effect seemed to lessen and it would take much longer for that telltale nausea to develop. I was starting to think, finally, now that the technology has reached a point where the games are quite nearly photorealistic, I might actually be able to play them. Then a new phenomenon occurred. Along with the photorealistic environments came other features of realism. The screen would bob in step with the characters movements, simulating the character actually runn...
