Orkut was launched on November 17, 2002 by the Google. It was the brainchild of Orkut Büyükkökten, a Turkish software engineer, who developed it as an independent project while working at Google.He developed Orkut as an independent project (all employees at Google can [Orkut Buyukkokten] spend 20% of their time working on personal interests) Orkut Buyukkokten is a software engineer and product manager at Google.
