Alexa and Compete – the Numbers Don’t tell the Truth, But You Probably

I started to pay closer attention to my statistics on both of my main blogs – DatCurious.com and DatMoney.com – and the numbers don’t match up, especially with sites like Alexa .com and Compete .com.I know a lot of people don’t rely on Alexa and Compete, but sadly, we probably all still go there just to see what they rate us in their traffic rank; better yet, a lot of sites use Alexa or Compete to determine how much traffic a site is getting – though, the numbers are deceiving.So Jay, the numbers don't match up? Obviously not, or there would be no purpose of this post .;-) But I hope I’m not the only one either.See, the good part about having two different blogs is you get to compare the stats to each other. This is definitely a unique way of gaining more exposure and building more traffic for your blog. RSSHugger.com is a site which lets people find new blogs under different niches."Wait, that's the same thing as a lot of other blogs!" Not exactly. What they do is give every blog a fair opportunity to get exposure by resetting their Top 100 blogs each month. (So, the big name blogging sites aren't on there year round.)Also, you get exposure from their "Random Pages" and "New RSS Feed Pages."To get your blog listed into their database, there are two options:1.) Simply write a blog post/review about RSSHugger and you get in for FREE! (Sort of like this post that I'm currently doing.)2.) When it comes to making money online, age has no restrictions on it. I know, like the late Aaliyah once said “age is nothing but a number” and luckily, we are not dating then it probably would be! But no matter how young you are or how old how wise, making money from blogging is for everyone! I’m in my mid-20’s but I recently started blogging a few months ago (though, I helped manage another site for well over a year). I’ve learned a lot and I slowly, but surely, started making money. We all want to set some sort of goal because you never want to settle for less, right? And although, we will have our own individual goals (as a blogger), here are some points you may want to really focus on – maybe even for a New Year’s Resolution for 2008?First, set realistic goals. You don’t want to go out and say, “I’m aiming to make a million dollars by the end of this month!” Yet, you’re sitting on a total of $50 earned. BloggrZ the StumbleUpon for Bloggers?

BloggrZ.com is a new site that seems pretty interesting. It is aimed to give exposure to blogs sort of like Stumbleupon does. The only difference is the fact that SU covers any and every site while BloggrZ only focuses on blog sites. Hey, that’s not a bad thing.BloggrZ seems to be like a mixture of a couple of social news sites – probably Digg and SU best suits the comparison. But BloggrZ seems to be less than two weeks old and if you look at the sites that have been submitted so far, it includes some big names like ShoeMoney, Problogger and JohnChow.It’s an interesting concept, though, like I said, it’s fairly new. So, there isn’t too many blogs that are inserted in the site… just yet. Reason Why You Should Donate to the 'DatMoney' Fund

I see a lot of different sites that have donation buttons like "Buy me a beer!" or "Buy my kids some milk." But I decided to go a different route... I decided to show people a picture of my refrigerator.And if you want to donate, I will definitely appreciate it.See picture below:As you can see, the main things in my refrigerator are condiments. And yes, this is REALLY my refrigerator as of last week (Picture taken December 17th).Also, to prove that this is my refrigerator, you can donate whatever amount you feel and suggest a particular food you would like to buy (it has to be within reason and something I would like actually eat).I will then take a picture of the food (from the money you donated) in my refrigerator and send it to you.I swear, I would think this idea was hilarious if it wasn't so true. Blogging Goals for the New Year – 2008, already?!

There are a lot of bloggers who set up monthly goals and are very detailed oriented with it. They probably set up plans and make an entire checklist. Unfortunately, I’m not exactly one of those types of bloggers. And that’s probably why I’m not as successful as most.A couple months ago when I started DatMoney.com, I wanted to create a blog to help other bloggers in a way that is seen through my eyes. Sort of like a hands on approach on what has worked for me and what hasn’t. We’re all on the internet so how do the attractive people get more exposure for their blogs?Well, just look at their pictures, of course. There are people who use that to their advantage, even if it’s not their own picture! If you are a serious blogger, I would have to assume that you are a part of the many social networks out there. Even if you’re not a blogger, I’m sure you have some sort of account on myspace or facebook, right? Don’t you ever see how all the ‘attractive people’ have millions of friends and get tons of attention while the people who choose not to display their pictures aren’t as popular? In the Process of Changing my Layout...

To those that come to this blog, I do apologize for not updating this as often as I did before. I'm in the process of changing my layout which is taking longer than expected. The reason why I'm changing the layout (even though you guys come here for the content) is because I have noticed this layout used by TOO many people. And how is this blog supposed to stand out if thousands have this same exact design? Hopefully I get this layout up this week. This is very simply to do. If you guys want to check your site to see what keywords are most popular and what position rank you are within the search engines, seodigger.com is a great site for that.Seodigger is a "online free SEO tool detecting search keywords" which should help a lot of people make adjusts to their meta tags and increase your traffic. It will provide you information about the keywords that are searched for the most, and you can also check your competitors as well.Personally, I have not tested out the theory if it will drastically increase your search engine placements, but supposedly for tons of people it has.
