GradeFix
2007-02-04 02:51:01
Everyone knows how insane it can be when you’ve got exams, homework assignments, that end of the year major project that you didn’t start until a week before it’s due, and so many other things that you need to get done for school, and we all know how much that can really drive you nuts, and eventually you half-ass something and don’t get the marks your expect. Well GradeFix is trying to change all that. The idea behind GradeFix is to organize your assignments, projects, and tests in such a way that works best for you and your busy schedule. Organizing your school stuff to work around your current schedule is very very hard to do, and can often lead to stress, and bad grades. Grade fix helps you organize your team which lowers stress, gives you more time that you don’t have to worry, and you’ll notice the grades will help you as well. Most people think they have there schedule under control, but they don’t, or that their current system wor...
KillerClickz
2007-01-28 14:46:01
KillerClic k z can be described as a statistic analyzer for your very own website. Not unlike CrazyEgg, KillerClickz offers services such as statistics analyzation, heatmapping to find out what content is working, click-through rates, and you can see exactly what the user clicked on and where they went after that. Another really neat feature that I haven’t seen in any other statistic tracking application is the ability to track to seperate versions simultaneously, so you can keep track of changes you’ve been making to your website, and find out what really works best. For the most part all of the other features can be found in CrazyEgg, and Google Analytics, but I’ve yet to see either of those applications offer something as handy as this little feature. Like CrazyEgg the finished product will include different plans, one will be a free plan, and the others have prices yet to be announced. All you need to do is place a simple piece of Javascript code on your site a...

Weigh Nice
2007-01-22 02:42:02
Weigh Nice is a little application that I’m working on that can be described as a weight tracking system allowing you to keep track of your weights at as many points as you wish. When you sign up you set a target weight where you’d like to be at and you can change it if you need to. It’ll let you know how far you are away from your target weight. At the moment it’s just good for weight tracking, but in later versions you will be able to track exercise plans, and meal plans. I really hope you all sign up and test it out, check out the blog and leave your comments.

2007-01-15 14:39:03
Update: For all you Canadian s out there, the Apple iPhone will be available through Rogers wireless in late 2007 or early 2008. No prices have been announced yet, but the phone will be available in two and three year contracts. Also a data plan must be purchased with the phone plan, (not cheap). Today Apple finally announced what we all knew was coming, the iPhone, and good god does it look good. The entire phone is touchscreen and it doubles as an iPod, but the downside to it is that upon release it will only come in 4GB and 8GB models. You can dial a number just by touching a name in your address book, you can place people on hold, as well as place them on speaker phone. The device is compatible with both Mac’s and PC’s which allows for easy synchronization on both platforms. Along with this great phone and iPod like device, it has a feature rich email client, and Safari built right in, allowing you to surf the web in style. The touch screen looks great and has ...

Pixpo and VibeStreamer
2007-01-02 20:34:01
I came accross Pixpo this morning which can be described as a video streaming software that allows you to publish your own channel with the videos and they will be access directly from your computer. The software is very easy to setup and very easy to use, anyone can have there own broadcasting channel setup in minutes. You can publish videos, music, and photos, then goto your blog or webpage, and even email, and send your friends the link to your channel, which is also found in the software, and your all set. The best part about this is that the amount of bandwidth used, and space taken up is all up to you because everything is streamed directly from your own computer, so there isn`t any need to upload files, find the files, blah, blah, blah. This also reminded me of another software app that I`ve used in the past called Vibe Stream er, which is for use specifically with music files and works great. You can setup user accounts for the people that you want to have access, and thos...

DailyLit
2007-01-02 20:34:01
If your anything like me, I have a hard time making time to read anything that isn’t on my computer screen, even though I love to read so much. Dail y Lit has come up with a great concept of sending you a chapter of a book during anytime of the day to your email address, so that you read it just through browsing through your email. They have quite a few books that they offer this service for, and they are delivered at whatever time you prefer them to be. When I was first reading about this service I was astounded at what a great idea this was, and surprised that I haven’t heard about it before. Hopefully this won’t slip off the radar as it’s more useful than it is everything. I just signed up to receive ‘The Art of War’ which I’ve been meaning to read for sometime now, I get my first chapter tomorrow morning.
PayPerPost Acquires Performancing
2007-01-01 08:33:01
Perform ancing can be described as being an internet community for professional bloggers, and has greatly grown in the last little while, expanding into blog advertising and publishing as well. PayPerPost is the leading, but in my opinion not the best, pay per publish service that bloggers can utilize to make some extra money from their blogs. Here is what was written about the transaction on the PayPerPost blog. PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers, videographers, photographers, podcasters and social networks, today announced it has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire select assets of Performancing LLC, operator of Performancing.com, a popular Internet community site for professional bloggers. Through its purchase PayPerPost gains a number of powerful blogger support tools including Performancing Metrics, the leading, free blog analytics service, and Performancing Exchange, an online “classifieds” for bloggers. Line Rider is Going All The Wii
2006-12-20 20:26:02
Now really who doesn’t love that little flash game Line Ride r, it’s totally viral and the best part is, there is no score, there isn’t any levels, it’s just you drawing lines to for the fun of seeing what you can get your little friend to do. Today inXile announced that it would be bringing the lovable flash game to the Wii and DS platforms. Now I’m sure your thinking it’s way to simple of a game for someone to pay for it. Well, according to inXile they will be adding features to the actual retail package to make it worth paying for, as to what those features are, no one really knows. With the Opera browser in the Wii you can also play the original flash version as well . Both titles are slated to be released next spring but hopefully we’ll get some more information before that.

Digg Upgrades?
2006-12-19 20:25:02
I was surfing through Digg this morning as I always do during my first hour at work, and I was going to view the programming category when this black screen appeared with this on it.           I’m looking forward to seeing what this upgrade brings. Update: After posting this I surfed over to TechCrunch and found this: Later today, Digg, which just celebrated its second birthday, will release a number of new features. The primary release is the first content area of the site that isn?t news-focused. Users can now Digg their favorite podcasts (feeds and individual episodes). The podcasting homepage will list the most popular podcasts by category (comedy, gaming, health, etc.). Their aim is for Digg to become the first stop for people looking for good podcasts, which will have standard Digg voting, discussion, etc. The Digg team isn?t putting it this way, but it?s clear that this is an experiment to see if users will adopt the Digg model of voting on ...

Yugma: Free Web Conferencing
2006-12-16 08:23:02
In today’s world of business distance is becoming less and less of a factor because web collaboration has come a long way.  With use of applications such as Writely and DabbleDB. Yugma is a web conferencing application similiar to Webex that allows you to share your desktop to up to 10 people for free, and upgrade plans are available if you need to share it with more.  The best part about this application is that it’s Java based so it’s compatible with any platform you choose. The basic free plan allows up to 10 people to share your desktop, annotation tools, and allows you to make someone else the presenter. Upgrade plans allow you such things as keyboard and mouse sharing, recordable sessions, scheduling sessions, and gives you 100MB of sharing space.

Skype released version 3.0 today. Not much has changed accept for some interface changes, that really do spice it up.  Skype is a great program that has really revolutionized the idea of VOIP as well as internet communication. I use it for family in different provinces, and it’s great for business communication for long distance communication. Calling PC to PC is free, and with only small fees to call mobile and landline phones.  You can also purchase a phone number so that people can call you from mobile phones and landline phones.

Color Schemer Gallery
2006-12-13 02:20:02
One thing I will admit about myself is that I am in no way design inclined.  Most of my designs are farily bland and more often then not I will get a third-party to come in and clean up my messes. Sometimes I’ll come up with something that actually looks good mind you, but that’s only because I use tools like Daily Color Scheme which I wrote about a little earlier, and an even better site called Color Schemer Gallery , which has really nice color combinations to help you with those tough jobs. What’s really great about Color Schemer Gallery is that most of the schemes are user submitted, so it’s not always the same bland colors of the same designer. They also offer some handy little software applications that help you with those color catastrophies in prices ranging from FREE to $49.99. They also have an active Community Forum for those of us who need a little extra help.

Tamadaa - Web-based Email Solution
2006-12-09 14:17:02
I see so much email in a day that I’m ready to stop using it…well…I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s a big part of my life as I’m sure it is yours as well.  Tamadaa is a simple web-based email solution that allows you to use your own private domain as well as services such as Gmail and Hotmail to host your email using their sleak and clean interface. The webmail interface itself has really nice Ajax effects, easy navigation, and folder management.  Everything is really clear and nothing should be a task when using it.  You can easily add accounts which all get placed through the same interface and changing between them is as easy as two clicks. The product is still in Beta but you can signup to have an account upon release.  You can also test out the demo, although some of the functioning isn’t available quite yet. I would definitely like to see more settings available, such as an address book, and email signatures.  ...

New WinXP Theme: Zune
2006-12-09 14:17:02
The one thing that I really dislike about WinXP is the fact that customization is really inhibited unless you use third party software such as Windows Blinds or StyleXP, so when new WinXP themes are released directly from Microsoft, it excites me a tad. To go along with the launch of the Zune Microsoft has put together a Zune WinXP Them e , that I must say looks pretty friggin good. The theme is Black with Orange as it’s accent color, and looks amazing in my opinion.  I aways switched between the standard Blue/Green template and the Olive color, but I think I’ll stick with this one. It comes with a background of a crowd at an event, but I took that off and replaced it with something that I would actually like looking at .
Crazy Egg - Visualize Your Visitors
2006-12-06 14:15:02
In my experience as both a web hosting support agent and a web designer, I understand that knowing your visitors habits is one of the most important things that you can do.  It’s so important to analyze where they are clicking how long they are staying, what pages they are entering and exiting on, because with all of that information you can streamline your website so that the things that visitors normally do, can be done faster. Crazy Egg allows you to run tests on your website to see what your visitors are doing, how they are clicking, and visualizes it for your to neatly understand what’s going on.  It’s incredibly easy to use and your first Test can be setup within about 5 minutes. No software needs to be installed, just a small piece of Javascript code.  The price ranges from free to track 4 pages at once, to $99 a month to be able to track unlimited pages and 250,000 visitors. Another interesting feature is the availability to easily block...

Alex Tew Is At It Again
2006-12-03 02:12:02
Well it appears as it Alex Tew is at it again, and if you don’t know who this guy is, then where have you been the past few years?  He’s the creator is the Million Dollar Homepage, and he’s now on another venture called Pixelotto. It’s indeed another pixel advertising site, and it works the exact same way, except this time he will be giving away $1,000,000.  How nice of him . Now here’s the big question on everyone’s mind:  Why should this one work too, there are plenty of other pixel advertising sites out there.  Oh yeah, it’ll work, and I’ll tell you why.  He’s Alex Tew, everyone knows him and everyone knows that the Million Dollar Homepage brought on a whole new idea for generating advertising. It’ll work because his reputation is know around the worls, and no one wants to be left out of something that is as cool as this.

Agloco
2006-12-01 06:57:04
You’ve heard/seen/used those surf for cash bars before I’m sure, they always try to get you into the motion that you can earn so much money just by surfing the internet.  This usually isn’t the case, and can be a harsh reality for most. Although I feel the same way and have better things to do with my time I did come accross this really interesting company called Agloco which essentially allow it’s member’s to own the company.  The idea behind Agloco is very simple, you download the surf bar, or atleast you will be able to because it’s currently in beta but should be released soon. The way that Agloco works is that the more referrels you have, the more stocks in the company you actually own, and this is completely legit and outright.  They are working on being listed on the London Stock Exchange and will allow that to determine how much each share is worth.  This is definitely a good idea and I think I’ll keep checking in...
Daily Color Scheme
2006-12-01 06:57:04
I stumbled upon this site called http://beta.dailycolorscheme.com, the idea behind the site is to provide different color schemes for your own use that can be easily download and imported into your chosen design program. DCS offers many options for formats including Photoshop, Illustrator, Color Shemer Studio, CSS, HTML, and Zipped. It looks like it hasn’t been updated in a little while, but hopefully with some increased traffic he will.

Happy 35th & Wiistakes?
2006-12-01 06:57:04
Wellm I’d like to start off by wishing a very Happy Birthday to Email!  That’s right Email is now 35 years old and going pretty darn strong.  The first email was sent out in late 1971, but unfortunately no one remembers what it was about.  I’m sure it wasn’t anything important, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was spam . The Wii was released last Monday so it’s been 8 days for people around the world to test out the next-gen system that really made Nintendo a front runner for console sales atop Microsoft and Sony.  It’s only been 8 days with the new Wii-mote and people are already complaining about how out of shape they are . According to some people that have been enjoying the gameplay of the Wii and the action packed games that require to physical activity, they have been experiencing muscle aches, well, because they are so gosh darn out of shape. This just goes to show how North American’s are so out of shape.&nbs...

DropBoks
2006-12-01 06:57:04
DropBoks is very simple, straight-forward uploading tool that allows you to store up to 1GB of files for instant download.  The maximum size per file is only 50MB so this comes no where close to the service that I previously noted about, Files Upload.  But DropBoks makes storing files a very simple task.  The login, as well as the upload/download interface is all located on the same page, and uses some Ajaxy like effects to upload and control the files. One thing I enjoy about this service is that it’s completely user-driven and doesn’t rely on ads to pay the monthly hosting bill.  Which is quite refreshing in today’s world where ads rule all . Check it out, share it with your friends, and if you like it, donate a buck or two.

Microsoft Labs: Photosynth Preview
2006-12-01 06:57:04
Microsoft has released a preview for it’s new photosynth technology.  Due to the fact that it’s only a technical preview, not even in beta yet, some computers might not run it properly as some hardware may not be supported yet.  The site itself only works in Internet Explorer after a certain point…go figure. The idea behind photosynth is quite ingenious and my hats off to Microsoft on this one, although I’m sure the idea has been introduced and implemented before, this is Microsoft we’re talking about here so it’s probably either gonna really suck, or be really awesome.  I’m hoping the latter.  Back to the idea, basically it’s taking a large collection of images of a place or an object and finding the similarities between each one,  then it reconstructs the image into a three-dimensional space…How F’ing cool is that. This is taken directly from the Photo synth site: With Photos ynth you can: Wal...

PS3 Released Yesterday
2006-12-01 06:57:04
Alright so as most of you already know the Playstation 3 was officially released yesterday all accross North America.  My apartment just happens to be located right behind the local Walmart, so as you can imagine there was a lineup outside on Thursday night to be the first in on Friday morning.  The funny thing was that they only had 2 for the release!  I live in PEI, Canada so the demand got pushed back a bit and most stores only had about 2 - 3 in stock for the release. I can just imagine what it was like Friday morning with everyone running to try to get one and only 2 being available, I giggled a little bit inside when I found out Did any of you pick one up?  How is the gameplay?

ReviewMe
2006-12-01 06:57:04
I stumbled upon Review Me which is reviews site that allows Bloggers and Advertisers to help each other out.  Let me explain how it works:  Advertisers sign up for the service looking to have someone review there product/service, so after they sign up they go through the large database of blogs and choose the one that they want to write a review on there site.  Advertisers can really find the proper blog to go well with their particular Niche. When a Blogger gets a notice that someone wishes for them to review the product/service, they can sign up for whatever they need to and then write a review on his / her blog.  Whether the review be good, or bad, you’ll still get paid, as the advertiser gets ‘true’ feedback and exposure. After accepting a review the Blogger gets 48 hours to write the review, and certain content guidelines need to be followed in order to get paid. 1.  The post must in some way display that it’s an advertisement, su...

2006-12-01 06:57:04
A new startup called Files Upload allows unlimited file storage with a maximum of 1GB per file.   With unlimited download, your own subdomain, and FTP access, this is definitely the best file storage site that I have seen.  Another awesome feature of this site is that the files stay alive for 6 months from the last download, so there really isn’t any worry of you losing actively downloaded files. Sign up for an account and test it out.

OctaGate SiteTimer
2006-12-01 06:57:04
I came accross this while going through Digg today, and what OctaGate Site Time r is, is a site timer that shows you each part of your webpage and how fast it loads.  This can be extremely helpful when you notice your site loading slowly and want to know exactly what might be causing it. It’s very important to have your website load at a decent speed because if not people just aren’t going to stay and wait around.  The internet is becoming a very fast-paced environment, and if your website can’t live up to the needs of it’s visitor’s/customer’s than they aren’t going to want to come back. Essentially this can sometimes go all the way back to the Hosting company.  My website is hosting on a Dual-Core Xeon Processor with 2GB of Ram, and in a load-balanced environment, my site might have issues maybe once a day from high load on the NetApps and/or Network traffic.

The Big 3 Agree To SiteMap Standards
2006-12-01 06:57:04
Yesterday the big 3, Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, have announced that they will begin using the same Site Map protocol to index sites all around the web.  Sitemap s.org gives you full instructions on how to install an XML on your servers that all three search engines will be able to keep track of and keep updated from. For those of you that use Google Sitemaps already you don’t need to worry about changing anything, as Google is already using these standards, but it is convenient that the other search engines will be able to index the same sitemap.xml. The same protocol can, and probably is, be used by any other search engine under the Creative Commons License. It’s really nice to see everyone getting along
