FORT DRUM, N.Y.--The "Monuments Men" of World War II dashed around Europe saving humankind's historical and artistic heritage from destruction. They were American soldiers tasked with a mission that didn't benefit the U.S. in any direct way, yet they performed it unsparingly and with unprecedented honesty. This June, Congress officially honored their memory, and more recently PBS ran a documentary, "The Rape of Europa," telling their story. In the era of chaos in Iraq, it has been all too easy for the world to airbrush out of mind the longstanding record of American custodial service to other people's cultures. A salutary reminder of that tradition is being unveiled in a more modest way this week with a pack of playing cards featuring the monuments and antiquities of Iraq and Afghanistan, with exhortations to military personnel to safeguard them. Cooking with bong water? Who knew? Our girl Amy, that's who. Reminds me of those times back in the day at the ole apartment when someone would come knocking at the door during a...uh..."session"...and we would quickly have to throw the bong behind the sofa and answer the door trying to wave the smoke out of the room as we went to the door just incase it was someone, you know, important or something. (Note: it's always best to have an old pair of sneakers laying around in the living room with some kind of sneaker odor spray that one person can quickly resort to spraying heavily in the air and maybe even on the actual sneakers when a visitor comes by during said session--takes the smell away pretty well we found).Still, it almost never failed that when it was someone important did stop by and came in and sat down on the couch the bong would have fallen over to its side dumping its stanky water and then you were stuck trying to explain what that horrific and very noticeable smell was...

A US man who stored his amputated leg in a barbecue smoker that was later auctioned off is locked in a custody dispute with the man who bought it.So many things wrong with this story but the one that stands out the most obvious to me is why would someone store their leg (spare leg?) in a bbq smoker? Wouldn't you need to refrigerate that?
