Flameless, Accident-Free Candles For The Holidays
2007-11-19 09:10:00
Since the holidays are quickly approaching, I thought I’d take a break from the norm and tell you all about some great flameless candles from Flame lessCandles .net. For my family, Thanksgiving and Christmas are a time for everyone to get together. But with little kids and pets running all over the place, a candle could easily be knocked over and catch fire. However, there’s an easy solution. You can get all sorts of different kinds of candles, including a flameless window candle, and never have to worry about accidents. FlamelessCandles.net sells candles that are battery operated (batteries are inserted easily through the bottom). However, a lot of these candles are made with 100% real wax and most have scents, so they’re completely realistic-seeming. On some of them you even have adjustable settings for light intensity on the bottom too, so you can create the perfect mood for any event. Some candles I found on FlamelessCandles.net that I really like include the ...

The Power of Planning: Blogging Success
2007-11-18 09:57:00
Photo by Cunning Stunt. I used to never be much of the type of blogger that planned things out (aka, the smart blogger). The only planning I ever did was write my posts the night before and timestamp them to publish the next morning. However, I never knew what I was going to write until I sat down at the computer. On really bad days, I wrote something that didn’t turn out to be the kind of quality I wanted, or I didn’t write anything at all. If you are in the same boat I was or if you are struggling with figuring out what to write, then there’s one simple word: plan. If you plan, you’ll never be in a troubling situation with your blog ever again. Step one: create a blog binder. I highly recommended you get a new binder (no notebooks, you need to be able to move pages around) and don’t mix your blog business with your life or work business. Over time, your blog binder will grow and the point here is to be organized. So start out with a clean slate an...

Why I’m Choosing To Remove DoFollow
2007-11-15 07:25:00
Back in July I announced that Super Blogging was a DoFollow blog, but now that is about to change. Today I have removed the DoFollow plugin from this site, and I am letting you know why. If you don’t know what DoFollow is, it is basically a plugin you can put on your Wordpress blog that removes the nofollow attribute from links in the comments section. Links marked as nofollow do not pass on PageRank and do not count with Google. If you use DoFollow, the links DO pass PageRank and DO count with Google. Links without the nofollow attribute help your rankings. I originally added DoFollow to give a little back to those who commented on my site. They gave me a comment, and I gave them a real link. I didn’t want to do all the taking, and I really did appreciate all the comments from everyone. And I still do! However, I have removed DoFollow now. This site has gotten a lot bigger than it was in July, and some posts receive a lot of comments and trackbacks. For every one of th...

3 Bloggers You Should Strive To Be More Like
2007-11-13 10:57:00
Photography: When shall we three meet again? by davescunningplan. I’ve been thinking about some of the blogs I read and which ones I like the most. And that got me thinking even harder, why are my favorite blogs my favorites? What makes them so appealing? If you can identify which blogs you like the most and why you like them, then you can turn those good qualities around and implement them on your own site! So today I’m going to talk about three great bloggers and their sites, and why you should strive to be more like them. 1. Court from CourtneyTuttle.com. Court is one of my alltime favorite bloggers and he has been ever since I came across his site. One of the things I like about Court is that he cares about other bloggers and isn’t selfish. He is constantly giving back to the community and coming up with new ideas to help other bloggers. And in return, his genius ideas benefit him as well. For example, Court has a page of SEO’d Themes which he updates of...

ScratchBack: A New Way To Leave Tips
2007-11-12 09:13:00
I first heard about a site called ScratchBack on MeAndMyDrum.com. When I originally read about ScratchBack, I thought that it would be something else I wasn’t even going to bother messing around with. But now if you look to the right and scroll down, you’ll see I have the ScratchBack widget installed. So what is it and what’s the deal? ScratchBack is basically in the terms of, I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine. What you do is add a small piece of code where you want the widget displayed, and people who like your site and want to donate to you or tip you for your efforts can purchase a link. However, these links are nofollow, which means you are not technically selling ad space or even passing off link juice (so basically, you can’t get Google slapped for this at all). The whole concept is that if someone likes your site and feels like you deserve a tip, they can give it to you and get a link in your “TopSpots” in return. My TopSpots...

Do YOU Have A Blog?
2007-11-08 10:27:00
Recently I ran a poll on this site asking the question, “Do you have a blog?” I received a generous amount of responses and most of the voters said that yes, they do have a blog. Of course I guessed that a very high percentage of people would pick that choice over “no” and “not yet”, since after all this blog IS about blogging, but I was surprised at just how high that percentage was. 91% of people who voted said that they do have a blog. 4% of voters said that they don’t have a blog at all, and another 5% said that they haven’t made their blog YET. It surprised me that more people didn’t vote that they were going to make a blog but hadn’t yet. I thought that there would be more beginners reading this site, interested in finding out what it takes to have a blog and make money online with it. I really enjoyed going over the responses and finding out what kind of readers I have on this site. It’s always important to kno...

Where Can You Find The Best Tech Deals?
2007-11-07 07:26:00
Maybe at Tech Bargains.com! Upon arriving at TechBargains.com, a site that claims to target the best deals in tech, the first thing I noticed was the design. TechBargains likes to think they have an easy navigable layout and seamless look, but when I arrived at the site I didn’t even know where to go first. There was a lot of clutter and a lot of ads that weren’t too well placed. Luckily, there is a search tab at the top of the site! But once you get past all of that, the site can be quite nice and helpful. You can get iPods, memory cards, digital cameras, GPS navigation systems, games, even discount computers. If you find it hard to find what you’re looking for, TechBargains.com offers plenty of ways to get the information you want delivered to you. You can sign up for email newsletters which consolidate the best deals of the week, you can get deal alerts customized to what you want, and you can easily sign up to their RSS feeds. The site is up 24/7 and using it yo...

What PageRank Are Your Internal Pages?
2007-11-01 10:29:00
Recently I read a post on CashQuests.com titled Find The PageRank For Every Page On Your Site. I hadn’t yet checked the rankings of all my internal pages yet since the new PageRank update, so I clicked on over to the tool Kumiko listed. If you use the LivePR tool, you can see the rankings for all the pages of your site, not just your homepage. My homepage got a PR3, which I already knew. Only one of my posts also got a PR3. All my other internal pages were either PR2, PR1, or had no ranking at all. One thing that I thought was weird were that some pages on my site that got a PR2 were some of my most unpopular posts or some weird pages, like the lost password login page. And then, my most popular pillar post, 75 Ways To Increase Your Site’s Traffic, which got the most backlinks and lots of attention, didn’t even get a PageRank. I’m still finding it a bit odd, but that’s Google for you I suppose! After you check the rankings for your internal pages, I do...

Halloween Is Almost Here!
2007-10-30 06:00:00
Guess what? Halloween is tomorrow! And what better to celebrate by letting you know about an awesome Halloween company with some pretty cool costumes and accessories? Halloween Express has the best halloween costumes around. They have been in business since the 1990’s and own more than 200 seasonal stores across the United States and the UK (one of them is here where I live, and it’s a pretty awesome place). However, their website does operate year-round so their great selections can be accessed anytime! I’ve been in the store and they have some cool costumes like Darth Vader, Harry Potter, and fairies. However, there are the much more unique things as well such as plumbers, a box of cereal, and that dude from the movie Napoleon Dynamite. Halloween Express claims to beat out all their competitors and in my opinion, they definitely do. The only downfall of Halloween Express is their prices. In the store things cost twice as much as they would anywhere else - but the...

Responses To: Would You Ever Sell Your Blog?
2007-10-29 10:16:00
Photography: Contando Dinheiro by Jeff Belmonte A few days ago I asked one question: Would you ever sell your blog? For some people, the answer was simple. For others, it was a bit more complicated. However, I am going to share the most interesting responses here with you right now. If you’ve ever considered selling your blog, or you might like to think of it as an option, you might like reading other bloggers’ opinions on the matter. Either way, the four best replies below are pretty interesting. Courtney Tuttle said: “I think that most people would sell their blogs. I would sell any of my other blogs if the price was right. Some people would say that they’re too passionate about their blog to sell. What if someone offered you $100 million for it though? I think most people have a price, and that’s ok. Aren’t we trying to make money anyway? …” [view full comment] Linda said: “A blog, for me, is personal but as you say there are those who c...

Data-Drop.com - Technology Reviews, How-To’s, and More!
2007-10-28 08:55:00
Recently I have learned about about a cool site called Data -Drop .com. The about page reveals that the author, Michael, is a full time network administrator who uses technology everyday. He writes tech reviews and how-to documents, and you know you can trust what he has to say. The author of Data-Drop.com is also very open-minded and loves to hear your ideas. He likes learning more than one way to do something and welcomes your own opinions with open arms - as long as you return that favor. This is the perfect way to run a blog! Make it your own, but also make your readers feel very included. The Design Upon visiting Data-Drop.com the first thing I noticed was the clean, three-column design. The theme is mostly red and black with the page’s background being white. An organized-looking layout is always a must. Visiting a site and having it please the eye is what I like. One thing I think could be improved about the blog’s general look, however, is the amount of items in t...

Would You Ever Sell Your Blog?
2007-10-25 10:46:00
Blogging started out as being something very personal where people wrote about their lives on a daily basis. That’s still sometimes the case today, but blogging has also evolved into a profession, a business. More and more entrepreneurs are starting blogs in hopes of making good money with them for a while, and then selling the blog for an even greater profit when the time is right. So I have a good question for you: Would you ever sell your blog? Some people plan to sell their blogs from the start; some people choose that path later on, for various reasons. So would YOU ever sell your blog? When you first made it did you intend for it to be sold right from the time it went online, or was that not the case but you’ve now changed your mind? If you would, please tell me why would you or why would you not put your blog up for sale. The best, most interesting answers will be featured on this blog within a couple of days. I will take the responses I like the most and paste th...

5 Ways to Make Your PayPerPost Posts More Appealing to Your Readers

There you’ll find various blogging tips, ways to make money, money saving tips and occasional news about technology and the internet at large. PayPerPost can be a great way to earn some decent money, especially when your blog is only a couple of months old. However, if not used correctly it can turn into a nuisance for your readers. To make sure that your readers don’t get annoyed by these sponsored posts, I present you 5 ways of making PPP sponsored posts more appealing to your readers: Make sure that the opportunity you choose is relevant to the theme of your blog. For example, don’t pick an opportunity about bicycles if you have a make money online blog. Research about the website you’re reviewing and give an honest opinion of the website. Don’t use too much ‘pre-sell’ language. Try to make the spons...

Give Comments to the Little Guys
2007-10-23 10:16:00
A short while back I ran a poll that asked this question: “Which do you find gives you better overall results: commenting on big, popular blogs OR commenting on new, small blogs?” I decided that it was about time to share the results with you. Commenting on smaller blogs isn’t only to be nice, but it can be beneficial to you as well! How can this be? Think about it. Let’s say you leave a comment on Mr. John Chow’s blog. Will he ever come across your blog through your comment and visit it? I highly doubt it. But if you a comment on a new blog that has zero comments, the owner of this blog will be ecstatic and very appreciative. They will visit your blog, they will probably comment back, and also likely is it that they will link to you! This blogger will probably remember you for life as one of their first commentators, especially if you comment more than once! The only reason I can think of to comment the A-listers more is because if your comment is one ...

6 Reasons Why You Should Use Images In Your Blog Posts
2007-10-22 11:02:00
Images. To use them, or not to use them? That is the question. Surprisingly enough, the answer is simpler than the question. Do use images on your blog! There are plenty of reasons why, and we will cover many of those reasons in this article. Before we do that, let’s cover another quick question. Q. Why have you not been using images in every single one of YOUR blog posts? A. Because I was stupid. I thought there wouldn’t be any image that would work with many of my post topics, so I avoided them altogether. But there’s ALWAYS an image out there you can use, no matter what you’re writing about! Here are the six BIGGEST reasons I’ve come up with that answer the question, “Why should I use images in my blog posts?” 1. You attract more attention to your articles. Sometimes when I visit a website or browse through my feed reader, I would pass on by a post if it didn’t have an image. If the post has a lame title or doesn’t seem appeal...

TNX.net - A New Text Link Ad Marketplace
2007-10-21 09:14:00
If you’re looking for a fantastic alternative to the Text -Link -Ads site and marketplace, then TNX.net (TNX pronounced as the word “thanks”, as in internet chat speak) could be your perfect solution. They target both advertisers and publishers in a great way. This site could easily surpass other text link ad websites, you just watch and see. Or even better, sign up and be a part of it all so you don’t miss out! For Advertisers TNX.net is a great place to buy links and have them appear on other sites. They make it simple and easy. Once you access their site and see their global dashboard, you click on the “Create Campaign” button. You name your campaign and select all the kinds of site categories it will appear under. There are also little dollar sign symbols beside each category to let you know how much they cost, which I think is a very nice addition. You also get to choose the languages of the sites your ad appears on, along with the number of ba...

Watch Out, Is Your Content Being Stolen?
2007-10-19 03:30:00
People like this just boggle my mind. One of my readers sent me a heads up about one of my articles being taken, copied and pasted word for word, over at another site. This site calls themselves “Smart Blogging Tips” - I gave them a nofollow link; I only give credit where credit is due, and it’s NOT due here. So I head on over there and take a look. Not only do I see that one article taken, but many of my other popular, recent articles - as well as many, many articles from other bloggers! And this person isn’t a scraper - they don’t use feeds to find the content they steal. They visit the sites and copy and paste the content. Sometimes they leave the post titles alone, sometimes they change a word or two around. Does it make any difference? NO! It’s still stealing! “Smart Blogging Tips” definitely isn’t smart - actually, he/she is a downright THIEF. Taking other people’s content is illegal any way you look at it. If I were ...

Start Making More Money and Sell Your Own Ads
2007-10-15 10:21:00
No matter how popular your site is (or isn’t), you can always make money online with it. If you get less than 50 unique visitors a day or more than 500, there is always going to be someone out there who is willing to promote their product or site on your blog. As long as you price your advertising fairly for what you’re offering, you can make money with your blog. First, create an advertising page. At the top of the page tell what your site is about and the kind of people it attracts in a paragraph or less. After that, display all of your important stats such as your PageRank, Alexa and Technorati rankings, RSS subscriber count, and the amount of traffic you get on a monthly basis. Then you’re just going to list what advertising you’re offering to future potential sponsors. My recommendations are selling text link ads, 125×125 banner ads, a prime position 480×60 banner ad on your front page, ads in your feed (as long as you update daily and have a...

Do You Love Your Blog?
2007-10-14 10:59:00
If your answer is no, then maybe you shouldn’t even be blogging at all. There’s one statement I can tell you right now that is one hundred percent true. Your blog won’t be successful and reach its full potential if you are missing one key factor - passion. So ask yourself right now, Do I love my blog? Is it usually pretty easy for you to come up with post ideas on a regular basis? Do you love tweaking your design and theme and getting that perfect look? Are you excited whenever a more popular blog links to you, or you get noticed by the social media websites? If one or more of those answers are no, you might not love your blog like you should. Ask yourself another question: Why am I blogging? For most people, it’s solely the money. However, if there is no passion behind your blog then you’ll never earn any decent money anyway. Many people find blogging to be a very enjoyable and rewarding hobby (or even for some, a full time job), but if you don’t...
