Phenomenal Tips on Making a Great Post Title
2007-10-10 10:11:00 Previously I published the article 10 Tips to Writing a Successful Blog Post . Tip number one was to come up with an eye-catching title. Today we’re going to go into detail on how to do just that. When you’re done reading this article, your posts will never be ignored again because of a bland headline. First we’re going to state the obvious. Tell me, would you be more inclined to read a post with a title that is easy to read, enthusiastic, and contains numbers, or one that is dull and doesn’t use an exciting vocabulary? Which title do you think is most appealing: “10 Foolproof Ways to Gain More Readers” or “How to Get More People to Visit Your Site”? The first one, of course! A title should excite the reader and pull them in, making them want to read every single word you have to say. A good title should be the appropriate length, not too long but not too short either. Around four to ten words is decent; the title of this article contai... More About: Great , Title
Take A Break And Unite For A Good Cause
2007-10-09 05:09:00 I haven’t done any of these meme type things in such a long time, and usually I wouldn’t. A lot of the time they’re just more creative ways to get backlinks and such, which I disagree with. But I was just tagged by Steven over at Vandelay Website Design, and this meme is actually a good one for a great cause, so I’m taking part. The Internet Marketers of New York will be holding a charity event, sponsored by Best of the Web, to raise awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on October 15. The party will have food, drinks, prizes, the ability to socialize with other people interested in the cause, and more. All that is required is a small $40 donation. For more details, see the bottom of this post. Not everyone lives close enough to New York to make it to this event (myself included), and not everyone would be able to go anyway. But if you still want to help out with the cause you can donate online if possible. Now’s for the fun part, wh... More About: Break , Good , Brea , Unit
10 Tips to Writing a Successful Blog Post
2007-10-07 11:52:00 There are a lot of articles out there that contain great points and insight. Unfortunately, many of them are ruined and never become successful because of grammar mistakes, the message not being conveyed clearly enough, or other such problems. Sometimes the article would require a mere five minutes to touch it up and make it nearly perfect, or sometimes it would simply not be ready for publishing yet. Either way, you don’t want to waste a great post idea on an article that no one will ever read or appreciate. If you implement the following tips hopefully you will see a great improvement in your writing and your site’s content from the first word to the last. 1. Come up with an eye-catching title. It’s a proven fact that titles that are easy to read, enthusiastic, and even those that contain numbers do better than those that don’t. The title of your article should make the reader excited and should make them want to sit and read each word you’ve got to s... More About: Writing , Tips , Post , Blog
Implement Internal Linking Within Your Blog For Success
2007-10-05 09:02:00 There are many good reasons to link to your own articles and posts within your blog. Internal linking is very important, and if you’re not doing it then you’re really missing out on the advantages. First let’s review what internal linking is and how you can implement it. If you write a post, do your best to link to past articles you’ve written on your blog within that post. Instead of writing many new paragraphs to explain something you’ve said before, just refer back to that post you’ve written before on the topic. If you’re writing a list post, such as one to gain more traffic (see, I did it right there!), then link back to other articles where you’ve written about generating traffic to a website. So why should you implement internal linking and why is it so great? 1. You’re giving your readers more information to chew on. When you link to posts you’ve written in the past, you let your readers see more content they migh... More About: Blog , Success , Linking , Linkin

Write for the Beginners in Your Niche
2007-09-26 10:43:00 When I was new at this whole blogging thing, I didn’t know very much. Actually, I didn’t know ANYTHING. I actually thought that Feedburner was something bad, and that it could cause damage to your blog’s feed, whatever that was (please don’t laugh at me TOO much). But blogging is a learning process and I’m continuously discovering new things. Often I forget there are people back at the start of the blogging road, wondering which directions to take and how to go about it. Remember The Newbies As a blogger, you’re most likely an expert or at least decently good at what you’re doing or talking about. But you need to remember not to get carried away. There are some people probably reading your blog that are at square one and don’t even have a clue what’s going on. This is what I forget a lot of the time. When I first began blogging, I was in search of all kinds of information that would help me just to learn the basics. But instead ... More About: Write , Niche

Do You Think PageRank Could Be Kaput?
2007-09-25 09:07:00 It’s now become widespead speculation of many bloggers that PageRank is no more. Other bloggers think that Google could possibly be just updating their algorithm and that is why this update is so belated. Who knows? But now that PageRank is five months overdue, the longest period inbetween updates ever, people are getting worried. CashQuests has a great post titled Google Abandons PageRank that you should check out. Some valid points the author makes includes: It has almost been five months since the last update, and usually PageRank updates come every two to three months. Updates on the internet usually get faster with time, not slower, especially from big companies like Google. Google is completely against paid links and getting rid of PageRank would help to stop the problem, since one of the biggest factors in determining link pricing is PageRank. These are only some of the great points that CashQuests makes. So considering that Google did do out with PageRank… W... More About: Pagerank , Ager , Gera
Progress Report From a New Blogger
2007-09-24 10:18:00 As I approach the two month anniversary of my blog, The Junk Drawer, I thought I’d take stock and do a self-assessment. With any new venture, it’s worth taking a step back to review what’s working and what’s not, make corrections and produce a better product. What I do right: 1. I write for the thrill of it. Writing has always been a passion for me, but because I’m not confident enough to try writing for a living, I decided to write for a blog. It offers me a much-needed creative outlet and gives me a venue to build confidence and see whether my dream of being a full-time writer has any legs. 2. I make connections with other bloggers. It seems to me the best way to build a readership is to read other blogs that interest me and communicate with their authors. Whether it’s through email or comments I leave, I make connections with those I can learn the most from. My blog gains new visitors as a result, and I benefit from the expertise of seasoned bl... Miscellaneous Happenings for September 22, 2007
2007-09-22 08:31:00 Happy Saturday; I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! First I would like to say that I’m sorry there isn’t a lot of new content lately and that when there is, it isn’t the best quality. My computer is still in the shop and the guy hasn’t even began to fix it yet, so I’m holding out and doing my best here with just a few minutes a day, if even. Now would be the perfect time for some guest writers to step in! You get free exposure and backlinks with your content published on another site, so you can reach new potential readers. Why not write for this blog? It’s a win-win situation! Next I’d like to speak about the month of free advertising contest. Today is supposed to be the deadline for that, but apparently I’m in no position to sit for hours and count up credits, trackbacks, and come up with a winner. So for now, you’re still allowed to enter (even for perhaps another week or longer, depending). I’m sorry if th... More About: Happenings , September
A Huge Thank You to My Sponsors!
2007-09-21 17:19:00 Exactly a month ago, August 21, I ran my first batch of link sales where each link cost $5. The low price was for multiple reasons - it was the first time I’d ever sold text link ads, I wanted to help some other deserving bloggers out there without requiring them to spend a fortune, and besides all of that this blog still doesn’t have PageRank thanks to our domain switch and the very belated update. But now the month has ended and it’s time for me to give a HUGE thank to you and a permanent link to my sponsors, who were the first advertisers here on Super Blogging. Don’t Be Your Own Worst Blogging Critic
2007-09-20 07:17:00 I think it’s important to recognize your blogging mistakes and not be too slack with yourself. If you mess up you should try to correct your wrongs or at least realize what you did. I know that you should set goals for yourself and follow through with them. I know you shouldn’t be too lenient, but what about being too tough? Is it possible to be your own worst blogging critic? Don’t Beat Yourself Up Over Blogging Let’s face it. All of us have the good days, and all of us have the bad days. But it’s the bad days most of us are more concerned with. What exactly could a bad day entail? It might involve writer’s block, making a lot of mistakes, or not producing as good quality of posts. It could even be a decent decrease in traffic or RSS readership. You might think it’s just you, but don’t worry, all bloggers go through it. There are times when I’m having one of those bad days, and I feel like everything is all my fault. Instantly I... The More You Write, the Better Your Writing Gets
2007-09-17 10:03:00 This one should be obvious, but I’m not letting it go without discussing it. When I first started blogging, I would go back on my posts and find dozens of mistakes. Spelling and grammatical errors, all sorts of things. And apart from that, my writing wasn’t organized and put together very well. Sometimes I would word sentences in ways that they wouldn’t make sense, and I couldn’t get out what I wanted to say clearly enough. In my early times of blogging, it was easy to be ashamed of some of my posts. But now, I notice that my writing is a lot better than it was an approximate six months ago. When I reread my posts to double check for typos and mistakes, I don’t find nearly as many things as I used to. Now, instead of dozens of errors, there are just a couple, if even that. Besides from not making so many typos, my sentences and writing in general are much stronger than before. The more you write, the better your writing gets. If you’re new at blog... Troubles (Please Bear with Me)!
2007-09-16 09:18:00 Well, it’s been a busy few days (longer than that, to be honest). Over a week ago Firefox deleted all of my bookmarks, which contained a lot of important saved information, sites, tools, articles, and more. I discovered that not soon enough, and it was too late to recover all of my bookmarks. Firefox does five backups a day, and they’re quickly replaced by new backups. I didn’t realize soon enough to recover one of the five, so I lost it all. That was the first downfall. The following day, my laptop broke. Again. There’s something wrong with it, and I can assure you it’s not my fault. Heh. When it’s plugged in the light is supposed to come on, the screen is supposed to be brighter, and it’s supposed to charge. Most of you should know how a laptop is supposed to act when it’s plugged into an outlet. Anyway, it acts like it’s NOT plugged in. It won’t charge and lives off its battery life. And since it won’t charge, when... More About: Bear

A Step By Step Tutorial to Email Marketing
2007-09-14 00:09:00 Have you ever wondered about or been interested in email marketing? Did you know you can read the easy step-by-step system of Email Marketing Authority.com to get started, and then sign up for a free 30 day trial of their email marketing program, ViperMailer? EmailMarketingAuthority walks you through email address collecting, coming up with the email subject line, how often to send an email offer, how to greet your email recipients, knowing what is a successful offering or newsletter, and tracking potential clients. If any of that sounds interesting to you or you would like to learn more, visit their website. My thoughts are: Their site layout is decent, the color scheme is nice, and it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. The fact that a free 30 day trial is offered is great too - without a trial, I probably wouldn’t invest my money into something I’d just happened upon. However, email marketing isn’t for everyone. Most think of it as just another wor... More About: Tutorial , Email Marketing , Step

4 Posts I Wrote in the Past That I’d Never Write Today
2007-09-11 10:13:00 When I first started blogging, I didn’t know very much. Not very much at all. And to this day, there’s still a lot I don’t know and yes, I will openly admit that. But months ago, when this blog was new and still on Blogspot, I wrote some things that I completely disagree with in today’s time. Opinions change. Here are some of those posts I wrote in the past that I’d never write again today if I could: Earn Money using SlashMySeach - I’d never write this again because SlashMySearch is just such a horrid waste of time. It’s time NOT well spent. You could earn more cash doing other things, and their search engine sucks anyway. Go Google! Feed my Feed - A link train. Yuck. Fake, unreal, cheating links. If you participate in things like this too often, Google will notice, and WILL penalize you. Besides, why mess around with the system? It’s not worth it. Win Free Advertising: Updated!
2007-09-11 07:43:00 Hi to everyone, For some reason I’ve been having absolutely zero success with my contest, where you can win a free month of advertising on this blog. In the past, the only way you could enter the contest was by writing a post linking to this blog with our anchor text. I suppose most people didn’t want to do that, so I’ve updated the contest and it made it easier on all of you! There are now five separate ways you can enter to win a month of free advertising, and each one is assigned a certain credit amount. Commenting gives you one credit. Subscribing gets you five. Writing a post linking to us with our anchor text gets you TEN! The more things you do, the more credits you earn. And the more credits you have, the more likely you are to win that free month of advertising in the top of the sidebar! So now there are five easy ways to win, so I’d recommended you give the contest a look. After all, this blog has almost broken the Alexa 100k, is under the Technorat... Find the Balance in Your Posting Schedule
2007-09-10 10:21:00 I recently conducted a poll on this blog where you could vote if you thought it was worse to post too much, or too little. Some blogs churn out 4+ posts a day and some even manage to come out with 10, causing their readers’ brains to explode! And yet then there are the blogs that only post once a week or every other week, hardly satisfying their readers with any content. Which type of blogger is worse? My hypothesis was correct. Overall, most of you think that posting too little is a lot worse than too often. If you’d like the exact number values, 85% of you completed the majority, while just 15% believed that those who post too much are the bad guys. If I had voted, I would have agreed with that 85%. So what does this tell you? If you’re not posting enough content, you’re probably not making your readers too happy (if they even stick around, that is). But then again, many of us can’t keep up with the blogs that produce too many articles so those are li... More About: Schedule , Find , Balance , Balan , Posti
5 Quick Tips to Tidying Up Your Blog
2007-09-09 09:20:00 When you have so many things to do with your blog and a huge list of ideas you’ve got to put into action or complete, sometimes you just don’t know where to start. It’s even more stressful if you don’t have a list. Before we continue, I’d like to recommend you grab a notebook and begin to jot down anything you have to do for your blog. Keep your list organized, too. For example, keep one list of things you’re going to do to generate traffic to your blog, a separate list of changes you have to make to your design, etc. Organization is very important, and if you don’t have it then by the end of a tough blogging day you’ll be pulling your hair out. Weekends are the best time to clean up your blog a little, and it make it look more appealing for your readers. They’re also the perfect time to get caught up on whatever you have to do, like responding to reader comments and emails. Since it’s a Sunday, today I’m going to sup... Win a Free Month of Advertising on This Blog!
2007-09-08 08:06:00 How does it sound to win free advertising on this blog for a whole month, without having to do hardly any work on your part? Wouldn’t it be nice to receive some extra traffic and potential new readers? And since your banner will be shown in the sidebar, a backlink from every single page of this site? That kind of deal is worth some money, but you can get it FREE! If you’re interested, read on for details. Banner Placement: Your 125×125 banner you design will be at the very, very top of the left sidebar (above the recent posts section) for a whole month, which is a prime position you wouldn’t want to miss out on. Banner Design: The banner has to be sized 125×125, exactly. It CAN be animated, but no flash please. You have to have it ready for me by the deadline. If you don’t, you’ll miss valuable advertising time every day until you get it to me. You can make the banner or get someone else to create it for you - it doesn’t matter to me e... Free Web 2.0 Ribbon Generator
2007-09-08 03:11:00 I’m not sure about you, but I absolutely love some awesome generators, especially ones that are free. I’ve blogged before on a MyCoolButton review. Basically, MyCoolButton is a site where you can generate your own button to use. You choose its size, background, text, just about everything - and it’s 100% free. But enough talk about button generators. Now I’ve found something at least just as cool, maybe even better. And it’s a cool ribbon generator. Surely you’ve seen them before: those thin ribbons that grace the upper right corners of websites. Well, you can make your own and add it to your site in seconds; it’s so easy. You pick the ribbon’s text, you can choose where it links to if someone clicks on it, and you can even pick its color. When that’s all said and done, you’ve just made a ribbon and it’s ready to be put in the top right corner of your site or blog. The ribbon generator is so quick, clean, and professi... Sitemaps 101
2007-09-07 09:05:00 A sitemap can be a valuable addition to your website or blog, but there can sometimes be confusion between XML sitemaps and traditional sitemaps. A traditional sitemap is an actual page on your site that links to all of the other pages (or at least the major ones) on your website. The primary purpose of this type of sitemap is to assist visitors when they are trying to find something specific. An XML sitemap is not a page that a human visitor would use, instead it is made to help search engines find and index all of your pages. Why is an XML Sitemap Important? Most search engines (including Google and Yahoo!) now use XML sitemaps (also called Google sitemaps) to help them find and index pages. The XML sitemap includes a link to each page on the site so that the search engine can quickly find, crawl, and index each page. By using an XML sitemap your pages can get indexed much faster than they would without one. However, the sitemap has no effect on how well the page ranks in the sear... More About: Sitemaps
Add Your URL to SEO Friendly Directories FREE
2007-09-06 08:10:00 Backlinks are a huge part of being successful when you’re a blogger. The more links you have, the higher you rank and the better PageRank you get. So if you haven’t been working extremely hard on gaining backlinks and you’ve just been going with the flow and waiting for the links to come to you, then all I have to say is, you’d better start. AddURL.nu is a great site that currently contains close to a thousand “100% SEO friendly, free, non-redirect, non-reciprocal, and general” directories. Whenever you submit to one of these directories that AddURL lists, that’s another backlink gained. If you submitted to all of the directories, then you’d have nearly a thousand extra backlinks. But of course, manually submitting to each of those directories yourself would take a while. If you don’t have the time but you’ve got the money, AddURL.nu’s owner charges $290 and he will hand submit your site or blog to every single direct... Updates For September 5, 2007
2007-09-05 09:38:00 Hello, there. I know I haven’t done an earnings report in ages - but before you get all excited, this ISN’T one of those. I’m hardly focusing on money right now, but instead I’m working on traffic, backlinks, and making this blog better for YOU. This post is an update to let you know how I’m doing with all my rankings, statistics, posts, referrers, etc. I’ll let you know how this blog has been coming along and basically, what’s up. Just a quick note, but I want you to know that my Google Analytics was reset a few days ago. Now… So let’s begin, eh? The most popular day this week was Sunday, in which I got 221 unique visitors. There’s definitely plenty of room for improvement. I need to set some standards for myself because this blog is definitely old enough to have BROKEN THE ALEXA TOP 100K, but we’re not quite there yet and it’s sort of upsetting. I’ll do better, I promise. I’m working on it. The ... More About: Updates , September , Sept , September 5
Which Color Do You Use?
2007-09-01 12:59:00 As you might know, you can browse this blog using one of three different colors: red, green, and blue. Now, we all know that bloggers can never please 100% of their audience all the time, but when three colors are offered to view the theme instead of just one, there’s a better chance. If you’re a newcomer to this blog, or didn’t know that you can change the color, all the buttons, backgrounds, links, and everything else is most likely red. But if you’re getting sick of the red, or if red never was your favorite color, why not try some green or blue on for size? Basically, I am asking which color YOU use to look at this blog (red, green, or blue) and which one is your favorite. Me? I use blue. But why don’t you tell me how you feel with this simple poll: Note: There is a poll within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll. Interact with Your Readers and Visitors
More articles from this author:2007-09-01 09:22:00 One of the most important things you can do, especially if you’re a newer blogger and you’re just starting to “get out there”, is to interact with your readers and visitors. Encourage them to ask questions or give their own opinions at the end of your posts. If they comment, answer them. If they ask a question, be ready with your response and have a smile on your face. If they contact you or send you an email, don’t just delete it or not reply. Actually take the time to give back to your readers and don’t ignore them - without them, you would be nothing. Interact ing with your visitors is especially important for bloggers who don’t have a huge readerbase. The few people who do read your blog on a regular basis and are loyal are very important. They are your first stepping stones to becoming a bigger, more popular blog. Treat them with respect!
