He says he owes the surge of traffic on the site to Best Of Indya's philosophy of "Share Promote and Profit ". There is also a Hindi Section coming soon. Do read on to find some great insight on his ideas. What was the idea behind starting BestOfIndya?I have been an avid "geek news" reader since the best days of Slashdot and started using digg immediately after the website went public. Shaking the market
2007-05-18 11:14:00 This is how you do business. When I started looking for a place to host this blog and the company website, Mr Google told me that there were thousands of places where I could do it. Eventually, after a lot of digging I reached this site called HostMySite, and a couple of other web hosts, and I mailed them my requirements. Most of them never came back to me. Some of them mailed automatic responses, yet this one, HostMySite.com, replied within 20 minutes. At first I thought, it was like a one-hit wonder, so I mailed them again. Another 20 minutes later, they were back, with the solution. I liked it so much, I bought everything there. This is basically what you need to do in order to succeed in business. It is not about how big your company is, or how much revenue you get, but about how well you can respond to your customers needs. And just yesterday I came across this article on ITSolutions. It is about how HostMySite has managed to grow by 573% in 3 years. If you are still not impressed ... More About: Market , Mark , The Mark
Getting rid of Adsense and Paid Posts
2007-05-15 23:12:00 While going through an older entry in a diary, I remembered that the sole idea of using Adsense and the myriad collection of advertisements on my blog was to recover the amount of money I had put in to start this blog. So yesterday I sat down to calculate how much I had earned off the blog in the last four months, since it has been up, alive, and kicking. It turned out that I had actually exceeded that amount. So choosing wisely and carefully, I decided to put an end to the idea of trying to make money off the blog. It meant saying bye bye to PayPerPost which helped me make the most amount of money, and Adsense which brought in hardly anything yet took up a lot of space, and Reviewme, who had just accepted my blog a few days back. The latest resolution is that I would start the monetizing thing again after I start getting around a 1000 unique visitors a day (I get around 150 now). So if you don't want to see anymore ads here, don't come here in drones, read it up on feeds and email ... More About: Paid , Posts , Sens

And the more you haggle with the marketing fundas on the internet, the more experience you get. In some ways it is like the stock market, where it's just your intuition which works, but still there is so much of expensive research which makes it possible to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into the market. This is why I would like to tell you about Pay Per Click Edge , the market leaders when it comes to online advertising. Why is there no social component in startups in India.
2007-05-15 06:24:00 This post is really a comment I had posted on VentureWoods :What we lack is a medium of interaction. We talk about Techcrunch and how it empowers the startups in the valley, but the part that we miss is that the valley is well connected. Not on the internet, but also off it.Consider this. This February I decided to start working full time on an idea. I went looking for experienced entrepreneurs to get some idea about issues I had never thought about before, like pricing the product, or how to get a team together. Or what about financials, how to get the marketing strategy together. But the worst news was that I found none. The only couple of guys I met were those who did try to startup but the companies eventually closed down without making any money.Everybody doesn't think alike. And this creates even more problems. My last company was a startup too, and I went to my boss for advice. He was quite interested, but he had been running the company for the last three years with less tha... 2007-05-07 06:01:00 An interesting but violent and kind of a video. Apply the same principle to entrepreneurs and the market place as a whole, and you come out with the superbly disturbing and comforting fact that the guy with the most destructive ammunition will win in the end. Unless it gets clobbered in the beginning. So where do you think you are going? More About: Race , Rat Race

Digg launches API
2007-04-20 21:32:00 Digg's Kevin Rose announced on his blog today that Digg's API is now publicly available. It comes along with a Flash Application Toolkit and a competition for creating the most innovative visualizations and applications. The API has been created to allow developers to interact programatically with Digg. Currently you can use the API to request very specific information about news stories and videos submitted to Digg, digging activity, comments, and users. The API accepts REST requests and offers several response types: XML, JSON, Javascript, and serialized PHP. In addition, a PEAR module is available for PHP.To access Digg's vast information database, a request is sent with the Application Key and a User-Agent HTTP header, and the API returns a UTF-8 encoded xml.Digg the blog | Flash Application Toolkit | Competition Details | API Community Support More About: Digg

2007-03-30 02:39:00 On Monday, 16 June 2003 at 3:27pm, Sam Ruby published another post on his blog.It was no ordinary post. It was about the Anatomy of a well formed log entry. It was this post which evolved from a discussion on his post, to a wiki to create an open model for Web Feed Syndication (against RSS, which was copyrighted by Harvard University). Four years later, we now call it ATOM, and is the hottest way to churn out your feeds. (I hope the guys at Protolize read this)So here is my small 4 step tutorial to create your own ATOM 1.0 feed for your web application.1. Start with the Decleration2. Protolize : What no RSS?
2007-03-30 01:58:00 Even since I happened to come across Web Feeds, the world has never been the same again.Syndication or Feeds or RSS/ATOM have revolutionized the world. It is the ultimate way to keep track of all the blogs you would like to read.So when I happened to go over to Prot olize, a wonderful dictionary of all web tools, and couldn't find a RSS button, I was disappointed. I can't understand how does a website, which has featured even on Lifehacker fail to provide one.Do check out that page if you're interested in Web Design, there is some really cool stuff there. The feeds for this blog are definitely available, and you can get them here.(The world's biggest RSS button is via the Review Me Blog. Review Me is a service which allows bloggers to review a service or a website for hard cash. I just hope they don't have problem with me using it) More About: Proto
Alexa bullies Statsaholic ( Alexaholic )
2007-03-27 10:24:00 I went to statsaholic to get my 'daily alexa kick' last night, and I found out that Alexa has suddenly started bullying Stat saholic, and the graphs are not visible on Statsaholic site anymore. Moreover, the graphs provided by the widgets which are provided by Alexa themselves have stopped working. There is a link to Ron's version of the whole story here. Doesn't Alexa have a blog? Dumbasses.Alexa's charts arent' available in the official API given out by the site. According to Ron's blog it looks like Alexa were planning to start charging for the graphs API's but that hasn't happened. They are just blocking them. (Saying Go home Ron, play with your own toys)But Ron is accepting the challenge. He says on his blog As I was finishing this, I got an email letting me know that, once again, Alexa was blocking traffic graphs on Statsaholic. So, once again, I went and coded around the block. While I can keep this up for a long time (several kind souls donated hundreds of websites to... More About: Lies , Bullies
