Holy crap Mitt Romney is a moron.. er, I mean Mormon
2007-12-07 08:29:00
Damn I JUST found out Mitt Romney is a Mormon .A MORMON!Think about that for a second.A MORmon.Wow.And after I just read on the front of CNN that good ol' Mitt insists that religion is an important, essential part of this country.I'd like to think that Mormonism had very little to do with the founding or with the success of this country. Anyone with me?Maybe Americans should read a little more about Mormonism before they even THINK about electing this guy.Not that I'm against any particular religion. But if the good/freaked-out/weird Christian masses of this country really thought about it, would they elect Romney?Because they're already freaking out about a black guy, a woman, and I'm sure anyone else of any OTHER faith other than something (ok, in this case perhaps remotely) Christian.Damn.Mormon.No wonder this idiot sends me more campaign-related junk mail than any of the other ones. All of his wives must do the mailings! :)

Eco-Tech/Zero Waste
2007-12-05 08:43:00
Damn I just remembered about this amazing TV show I happened to catch last night. It was on the Science Channel, and I believe the series is called Eco-Tech .The episode last night was called "Zero Waste " and it was really recent - made this year. It was incredible, the leaps and bounds science is making with waste recycling. They covered composting toilets, landfills and the harvesting of their methane for electricity, different methods of recycling including mixing plastics to make bridges and such, and several other things - some of which were amazing products made by entrepreneurs such as "Worm Poop" fertilizer and newspaper-wrapped fire logs, not to mention all of the information on water treatment.I have to get my hands on that episode to show my wife and hopefully to post it online to Google video or something. It really blew my mind, and made me feel a little better that maybe someday our waste problem won't be so out of control. But we still have a long way to go. The best is ...

Why technology can be a NIGHTMARE
2007-12-05 06:47:00
People in the so-called "third world" countries must think we're freaks.Us and our laptops, PDAs, mp3 players and everything else.Recently I've been having problems with my usually amazing WD MyBook (external USB storage drive - 500 gigabytes). Why? Who knows. Why is it such a big deal?Oh maybe because everything important I keep track of is on there, including 130-some gigs of music, to-do lists.. a recently recorded album. What hell. Then, my PC is overheating. Won't stay on for over an hour. Can't use my storage drive to salvage last bits of info on the computer, and can't use the computer to get anything done.I'm on the laptop. In my bed. Next to my sleeping wife. That part is kind of nice. But unplugging and re-plugging five or six different kinds of wires to get the cable modem in here is ridiculous. You see where I'm going with this?I bet Jesse Davis can relate to this. I hope he's reading. :)-Jake

A point of frustration
2007-11-30 17:01:00
I'm technically at a point of frustration in my life.I have a new son which takes up much of my time.I've been short on great ideas lately - maybe I'm in a slump.I try to employ all of the positive-thinking techniques but so far, no luck. Not sure what I need - a life change-around is all I can figure. As of now though, it's a dead end.My best friends are several states away, with the exception of my wife - she's amazing.I'm just not sure where I stand. With the money issues and the incredible cost of living in this country, I want out, as always. That's coming, I suppose. But we're here for at least 5 years, I suppose I should learn to deal with it better! That's all for now.

dreamhump.
2007-11-27 21:22:00
The other day I started this other blog called dreamhump, and now that one will continue to exist alongside this one, as an uncensored counterpart to this mostly family-friendly one.So that's what's going on.Most of my writing will still happen on this blog right here, but the other one exists now as an outlet for my more unclean thoughts. That's just how it has to be.More soon.
What the hell has been going on.
2007-11-27 21:22:00
Did a ton more editing on the book last night (titled Turning Quantum Wrenches) and was disappointed. It's kind of preachy and annoying - I don't know. The other day I started this other blog called dreamhump, and now that one will continue to exist alongside this one, (which I have renamed, as you can see) - as the uncensored version of this mostly family-friendly one.So that's what's going on.Most of my writing will still happen on this blog right here, but the other one exists now as an outlet for my more unclean thoughts. Kucinich's hot wife and another strange thing
2007-11-20 08:25:00
So tonight I was watching The Daily Show and they had this hilarious segment on one of the Democratic debates where it was apparently so boring the camera kept veering away to focus on Dennis Kucinich's hot wife.Apparently there is a MySpace profile dedicated to her. I was just going to link to one of her pictures online somewhere, but finding that profile totally one-ups that idea.In unrelated news, I found this today.A doctor's labyrinth

Blogs! What are they good for?
2007-11-06 07:36:00
I keep reading these articles about how blogs are overrated, lame, boring.I'd like to say for the record that I definitely used to hate blogs and the idea of blogging. Weird places for drama and such, especially sites like LiveJournal. MySpace is still sweet and sour. And I think blogs can DEFINITELY be boring. It's fair to say that I have seen my fair share of BORING freaking web logs. Bleh. But I think interesting writing and/or concepts can make a blog work. So my entire way of thinking has changed. Also, good layouts help, I think. But who knows.I don't even know if anyone reads this thing. Or if they will. Or how to find out! (Hah.) Currently working on all of it. My guess is maybe no, no real readers at the moment. There are really no comments anywhere. But so far, writing here and there on this damn blog has been a great way to keep all the information I've been collecting (links and such - especially for the upcoming book/s), together in an easy-to-edit format.Hey, at the ...

A sad day for the United States of America
2007-11-02 06:07:00
Even for just one small title in one small state, the Democratic Party proved today they don't have a sense of humor, or the chutzpah to create a truly democratic election. Not that any of these politics matter anyway. This world is just a semi-erect pseudo-reality.Things in this world are real, but we have no way of knowing how true they are.

Two other History Channel must-sees
2007-10-29 07:14:00
I forgot to mention a couple other things about the History Channel - there is an amazing series going on right now called "The Universe" and also an upcoming series that looks really great called MonsterQuest (new technology for finding/debunking the various monsters/cryptozoology subjects/myths from throughout the years). Should be good. Two others to check out - just personal reccomendations.-Jake

Last book of Nostradamus/Zeitgeist
2007-10-29 07:04:00
Tonight I watched a documentary on the History Channel on the Last/Lost Book of Nostradamus , you can check it out, all the images (that's right, not quatrains!) here.Interesting, if nothing else. Opinions are like assholes, etc. Also, last night I watched a film called Zeitgeist , which you can watch in its entirety directly from their website.Make sure you use Internet Explorer (I know, yuck) and it's a little long, and may have parts you know if you've seen Loose Change or America : Freedom To Fascism (by the way if you haven't seen those, especially FTF, SEE THEM) but there's a ton of stuff in there you'll want to see.I was especially fascinated by the part about religions/Christianity.There's some conspiracy in there! But take it all in, and have an open mind.Check it out if you can - it was reccomended to me. Oh yeah, and you can download it too, right there on the site. Also on the site is all the source material used for the film, in addition to other related information...

The re-naming of my music project
2007-10-26 08:24:00
That's right - felt like it was time for a change. What was Smiling Carcinogens has now been changed to Doctor Labyrinth, for good, and everywhere (and yes, for you fellow sci-fi geeks, I named it after the Philip K Dick character).I was sick of our old URL, and wanted something a little more unique and interesting. We still have a song called "smiling carcinogens" on our upcoming LP.Just recorded a new 7-song EP yesterday as well, called DNA is dangerous. It's free to download all 7 tracks from that link. The song I put on our MySpace profile is a mere 30 seconds long! Go have a listen if you have an extra half a minute.I only mention the project and the album because I'm pretty damn proud of these songs with just vocals and acoustic guitar that were recorded in just a couple hours yesterday.More soon from us, including the lush 12-song LP I began recording so many years ago in Nashville.Oh yeah, and I finally made a MySpace profile for the precursor project to Doctor Labyrinth - t...

Potentially disastrous news
2007-10-22 06:51:00
Recently I had watched/read about Nostradamus and some of his last and more ominous predictions. Not that Nostradamus is infallible - no one is.But considering several of his prophecies have come true for some reason or another, the fact that George W Bush and his administration are talking about nuclear arms, World War III and Iran, China and Russia is disturbing, considering that these elements are all contained in one way or another within the related/time-specific writings of Nostradamus. Here is the first story I found, and then I saw this, right on the front of CNN.com.Don't human beings realize that nuclear weapons in ANY form, owned by ANYONE is just asking for disaster?Apparently we don't get it.Here are some of the sources from the writings of Nostradamus.WW III propheciesthe years 2006-2012sample chapter from Nostradamus OnlineMabusinterpretations of some of Nostradamus' quatrainsIs George W. One other thing - Earthmind
2007-10-18 20:16:00
I also started reading this amazing book called Earthmind (yes, along with Chariots of the Gods, which I'm still reading, and various science fiction and tons of other things).Earthmind delves into the Gaia theory (that the Earth is a living organism) with incredible detail, accuracy, and fact-based references.I learned so much just from the first section - I'm always telling my wife the strange things I find in this particular book.Just things that we don't think of very often, and some of the sources of our separation from nature.A good read.-J

When television is actually useful
2007-10-18 20:09:00
Last night watched several shows on the History and National Geographic channels. One was sexual taboos on Nat Geo. Great stuff. The others were mostly History Channel ones, one on USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects) and it shed some light on the "triangles" - magnetic fields in Earth's oceans (think Bermuda, etc.) and these amazing first-hand accounts from Naval men - even 15 or 20 different sailors seeing these incredible things at the same time.Something to see - some really interesting points of view. Then I took in a show on "Nazi Predictions" basically Nostradamus and everyone since him who successfully predicted the rise of Hitler (Hister!)There's a show on Nostradamus' lost/last book on October 28th on the History Channel I'm going to be sure to catch. Looks good - about 2012, I believe.I added some interesting links to the blogroll, as well, after remembering my interest in things of this sort.I also watched the Daily Show and Colbert Report, come on, who doesn't need a...
