Body horror
2008-05-18 09:03:00 I recently discovered that I have a fascination with movies that contain elements of or are focused around something called "body horror" - that is, infestation or takeover of the human body by an outside influence -- parasites, etc. It's really rather fascinating. I think I've always had this predisposition and I'm only now realizing it.However, after viewing both the movies Slither and then Shivers (and other movies starting with S and having an "er" sound? no, not really) - I noticed that these are the types of films I love.No idea why. I think it's disgusting and disturbing, and perhaps that is why. Some base desire or fascination with seeing our weird human bodies taken over or changed by outside (and often uncontrollable) factors.Wow. More About: Horror , Body
Idiots idiots idiots
2008-05-14 08:54:00 Been a while since I've written on here, but I read something today that blew my damn mind from this conservative blogger people seem to like, and there was no comment link to be found on his blog entry (although there were a ton of comments) so I'll write my humble opinion here. The idiot idiot idiot who writes nuggets of "wisdom" at Eject! Eject! Eject! (a conservative blog, and his name is Bill Whittle) wrote this post on "celebrity" as its title would indicate.Bill wastes no time in talking about actors portraying different worldviews than their own, and starts hammering upon Woody Harrelson. Now, maybe I'm biased because Mr. Whittle is clearly very pleased with himself for "not inhaling" any "hemp products" in college, but what he would know if he had half a brain is that there is such a tiny amount of THC in hemp that it is not able to be smoked for any amount of intoxication. So his idiotic statements are again, un-researched and foolish. He goes on to whine about Woody's pr... More About: Idiots

Dear whomever
2008-03-16 08:16:00 Dear whomever:I am walking along a path that doesn't exist.I can only remember some things, and I have no known destination ahead of me.Sometimes I feel intense revelations, and other times I feel nothing.Thoughts race around my head - was I fulfilled before? Am I fulfilled now? Or are the feelings of now merely covered by a ruthless barrage of thoughts that fill every waking moment with things to do?I have read so much, thought so much, and yet still understand so little. Perhaps everyone feels this way. I don't know. I'm not everyone.I also don't know who the hell I am, if I should care about who the hell I am, or if I would be upset if I found out who I really am.These are examples of things that I encounter along the nonexistent path. What I know of the "past" and of "truth" could all be wrong. It could all be right. And maybe it doesn't even matter.Do some people who want to know "truth", who have so much desperation about this, convince themselves of something else that do...
Lewis Black's new show
2008-03-13 05:44:00 Lewis Black's new show, The Root of All Evil is AMAZING. It is hilarious - he's got some great comics arguing these points. And oh, are some interesting points raised. That Oprah went to South Africa and built a school instead of doing it here because here all kids want are iPods and sneakers? Bleh.I can't wait to see the one on Donald Trump. You want a stain on human consciousness, THERE you have one.I don't care how much money you have or how hard you worked to get it, there are also fine upstanding people who do this (read: Sir Richard Branson) who are not pompous assholes.Plus, on the Root of All Evil mini-site at Comedy Central, you get to see what Lewis is listening to.Nice.So that's that.It is about TIME they gave this guy his own show. Insights from Cracked.com
2008-02-05 08:36:00 Wow. Tonight my coworkers were challenging my temper and my sanity, so it feels good to find this article on things about the 21st century that are making us miserable on the ever-amusing Cracked .com.Humor means a lot in life - there is no opposite of laughter! However, getting over someone in your workplace who is less than intelligent is definitely a test of your character, and I was glad to forget all about him/them and that particular (hopefully short-lived) occupation upon arriving home.It was wonderful. My wife does help a lot.Something else that helps is knowing the man in question really, REALLY did not want to be working tonight - he'd rather be out partying. Hm.On another interesting note, the other day I learned where Albania is. And that I will never, EVER visit there. Hooray! More About: Insights
The meaning of this blogs' title
2008-01-30 11:50:00 Just a quick post today to explain where I got the idea for the title of this blog.I was reading the other day that apparently in the Talmud there is a spot that says the universe was created with 18 to the 10th power stars/worlds.A lot of the links that discuss it are here at this Google search (Oh yeah, and the new link to this blog is included on that page too!).Check it out. Good stuff. I just thought it made a damn good title. More About: Blogs , Meaning , Title
Tony Robbins, Robert Pollard and UFOs?
2008-01-25 08:31:00 There's actually a lot of things going on lately.I'm in the midst of reading several books, as usual, including Punk Rock Dad by Jim, lead singer of Pennywise, Awaken the Giant Within by the awesome Tony Robbins, Breakthrough by Whitley Strieber, and a few others. (I know, insane, isn't it?!? Literary ADD or something.)It's just nice to take in a lot at once, I suppose.I watch some TV, but mostly the funny or weird is best.. same for music. My friend and I have been working on a music project here in NH that is in need of a drummer. As for the listening, it's been all about the new Robert Pollard stuff (hot damn it's freaking amazing - and you owe it to yourself to check it out) and an old die-hard, the Pixies.Nice.So that's what's been up.On another TV-related note, I can't wait for that new UFO Hunters show that is coming on the SciFi channel soon. Looks good.Yeah! More About: Ufos

Open letter to humans
2008-01-04 07:29:00 Dear humans,Music, art and all similar things are all merely forms of a basic ability (and sometimes, need) for creative expression - one of the main abilities humans have that sets us apart from other animals. While a lot of animals can create things (spiders: webs, etc), humans often create to express an idea to another person. So now that everyone thinks they can (or is actively trying to) express themselves creatively (in theory, a good thing...) we get phenomena like MySpace music ("Hey, I have an internet connection, therefore, I have a band!"), cover bands ("I can't think of anything new to create, but wow - I can make a bunch of money playing these songs people already like!") or, uh... P Diddy. Damn. And we could go on and on and on forever ad infinitum with examples of the "anyone can do it" ethos. Amazing, huh?All of these factors have created today's overwhelming, overpopulated music "industry" and/or art "marketplace" - a modern world of "buying" and "selling" ideas. W... The book(s) and 2008
2007-12-26 19:20:00 Well I ended up working more on the book last night, or what I have of one. It's more of a bunch of statements in a file - I may make this version free and my other idea, the resource on Universe Repair and whatnot to be the affordable ebook I end up selling - just to be able to give something away for nothing. Good stuff.Still getting used to this iMac but man the music feature is great. I had such a great playlist going this morning. What is everyone listening to, o readers?Today I skimmed through Foo Fighters, Descendents, Blackalicious, Busta Rhymes, Bad Religion, Guided By Voices and Robert Pollard, Weezer, fetish chicken, Teenage Hooker Factory, Wack Ass Egyptians (the last three are local New England bands!), not to mention nine inch nails and a lot of other things I can't currently remember.I also made CD mixes of my songs (check out that shiny new website!) for my family, as I'm rather broke and needed something to send them for the holidays alongside other things. Apples?
2007-12-25 08:29:00 Okay so I just got an iMac and I'm getting used to the switch from using PCs for the last I-don't-know-how-many-years to this. It's weird but I'm adjusting. The recording/multimedia aspects of this machine will probably end up being better, and the monitor is freaking HUGE, not to mention it's one of those all-in-one deals with a flatscreen and NO freaking cable issues for once. That's definitely nice. But iTunes is such a piece of crap. I really wish they'd fix it or change it or SOMETHING for Chrissakes. I mean, come on. When I supposedly REMOVE something from my library, or rename it, I don't expect it to keep coming back and popping up every time I re-import the library with new downloads (thanks Songbird and SkreemR. Awesome!)Anyway. It's overall going to be a good move, I think. Also getting used to this keyboard and mouse - whew. And just the navigation on the machine - like no right-clicks for things - that's blowing my mind.More real soon. More About: Apples
A white nationalist named Black gives Ron Paul $500
2007-12-21 19:46:00 Who wants to hear the hilarious and smeary! The media hates alternative candidates. And yes, that rhymes. Check out the article at Yahoo news. What is interesting here is that Black is from West Palm Beach, Florida. Ooh la la! I can tell you to never trust a Floridian, being one myself originally (I got myself the hell up outta there).I'm not a Ron Paul supporter (see my previous post about the ONLY two half-decent "candidates" Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich) but a lot of people are, despite the fact Ron is against granting amnesty to illegal immigrants, which is bordering (no pun intended!) on criminal. Give us your huddled masses, right? The country is shite but we all live here, huddled from the rich and yearning to breathe free from the Federal Reserve. That's one thing Ron would be good for. And the elimination of the IRS. But come on now.Again, see my previous post on Gravel and Kucinich (oh and Gravel would probably legalize marijuana, so put that in your pipe and smoke it)... Recession and a collapsing banking system
2007-12-20 21:07:00 Well that title sounds apocalyptic. But I can't help but notice that in several things I've read lately, I keep finding these articles about the declining economy of the US of A, the recession both present and upcoming - general bad things in what we like to consider "our" economy. It's not really ours. We have little to no control over any or all of its facets. But still, the articles pop up. They are as follows. An article entitled "US Recession is Here" at Corrupt, an article entitled "When the Other Shoe Drops" at Reality Sandwich, one called "Sinking Currency, Sinking Country" at AboveTopSecret, and the first one I stumbled across, one called "Staring Into the Abyss" at Counterpunch. Now, maybe some of you will say "but these are fringe resources/magazines/whatever".And to that I would say, "yes, maybe some of them". But the point is there. There are a lot of good points in these articles, well argued, from facts and whatnot. Worth reading, and thinking about. And something else ... More About: System , Banking

2007-12-19 12:13:00 So I'm catching up on my reading on the fabulous Brainsturbator and all Justin Boland's other blog-projects and I come across his UFO library, and just had to mention it. It's a killer resource with all manner of great things you will definitely want to download right away.Another great thing he has at Brainsturbator is his Power Weirdo reading list, which you should probably check out - this guy has his shit together. We're on the same page with the weird science, the sexual expression, and pretty much everything else. And the guy's in Vermont! Not a far trek from my New Hampshire.Perhaps we can pool our resources in the future for the good/further confusion of mankind. For now, I'm gaining insight from another curious power weirdo like myself. Wisdom, you might say. Anti-wisdom? Possibly.More soon. More About: Ufos

Intangible Technologies of the future (Carroll's Liber Null/Psychonaut)
2007-12-19 06:11:00 This text is from Peter Carroll's Liber Null and Psychonaut. Pretty fascinating stuff. Interesting insights on what our future may hold - edited some, but these were basically my favorite parts....this is only the beginning. The blind logic of technology and consumerism will cause alienation, disaffection, greed and identity crisis to rise to such catastrophic levels that the situation may explode into a very destructive war. There may be a breakdown of society which may take the form of an anti-technological jihad. These will not resolve the contradictions......the changes which will definitely occur. Among these are:The Death of Spirituality. Fixed ideas about the essential spirit or nature of man will be completely abandoned as an Emotional Technology becomes more refined. Drugs, obscure sexualities, faddism, strange entertainments, and material sensationalism are a preliminary groping towards this end. Chemicals, electronics, and surgery will only tend to enslave. The Death of S... More About: Future , Technologies , The Future , Logi

More on Gaia Theory/Hypothesis (the problem with Christianity)
2007-12-17 19:28:00 A book I'm reading called Earthmind (which I have mentioned on this blog before) on the Gaia hypothesis (that the Earth is alive), proposes an interesting situation. In the past, human cultures were very connected to MOTHER Earth (remember that for later) and there were all manner of pagan gods and goddesses, but the female form was for fertility and so forth. With the introduction of monotheism as God in a MALE form, things changed - a once more peaceful species was given a warlike god, a vengeful god, and the old pagan gods and goddesses of the past were considered evil or heathen. So this is where we stand today. A world based largely on Christian principles - cut and dry, black and white non-rational views that are taken from one ancient and infallible book.I'd like to say though, that I am not an atheist (anymore). My parents are Christians, and maybe some would claim my recent amazement with these concepts a simple rebellion - but that is not so. My parents are good people, and... Not enough time in the day
2007-12-12 08:25:00 Even though humans created the concept of time, that doesn't mean it can't still rule our damn lives. Lately, it's been a bitch to decompress, there isn't enough time to get everything done, and I think a lot of people grapple with this.Plus, you have this constant bombardment of media - commercials and advertising, new technology, ideas, products - our capitalist world is a fucking nightmare, most days.Certainly other people must feel this way, right? The problem is, with all the frustrating overwhelming stuff, you're supposed to find "time" (there's that word again!) to somehow enjoy life and its' little moments. But what if most of life is just surviving in our weird semi-erect pseudo-reality (as I apparently like to call it) - and there is hardly time to even contemplate the moments?Well okay, yes. We all have the potential to sift through all this crap, I suppose. Supposedly we have the ability to take in all this stimuli and somehow make sense of the jumble - to sort it a... More About: Time

Mike Gravel & Dennis Kucinich - the only worthwhile candidates
2007-12-07 11:24:00 Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich are the only two worthwhile candidates for this presidential fiasco, in my eyes.Really quickly, Gravel is amazing - probably the best. The former Senator from Alaska's website is Gravel2008.He has great ideas and standpoints for any conceivable issue - and he's slammed Hillary on a lot of her crap, and many of the other deadweight candidates too.Kucinich is a close second, and is currently in the House (literally and probably proverbially). He had a good enough sense of humor to appear on The Colbert Report and empty out all his pockets, which always contain a lot of things. Both these men are good choices, and you should check them out. Especially because I've never cared enough about ANY presidential candidate before to even mention them ANYWHERE. I think that's pretty notable.Vote Gravel (or Kucinich) in 08. Holy crap Mitt Romney is a moron.. er, I mean Mormon
More articles from this author:2007-12-07 08:29:00 Damn I JUST found out Mitt Romney is a Mormon .A MORMON!Think about that for a second.A MORmon.Wow.And after I just read on the front of CNN that good ol' Mitt insists that religion is an important, essential part of this country.I'd like to think that Mormonism had very little to do with the founding or with the success of this country. Anyone with me?Maybe Americans should read a little more about Mormonism before they even THINK about electing this guy.Not that I'm against any particular religion. But if the good/freaked-out/weird Christian masses of this country really thought about it, would they elect Romney?Because they're already freaking out about a black guy, a woman, and I'm sure anyone else of any OTHER faith other than something (ok, in this case perhaps remotely) Christian.Damn.Mormon.No wonder this idiot sends me more campaign-related junk mail than any of the other ones. All of his wives must do the mailings! :) More About: Crap , Holy 1, 2, 3 |
