All ye behold the Apple iPhone
2007-01-12 04:43:11
I usually don’t get excited about new products that come to market but I think I will have to make an exception for Apple ’s iPhone . It is coming out in June 2007. I am fairly convinced that this phone has the ability to cure cancer. The sticker price might be a little high ($600 with a 2 year contract) but I am thinking that I will be able to fit it into my budget if I sell one of my kidneys. I got a little teary eyed when I first saw the iPhone photos. However, that doesn’t take into account the shard of glass that flew into my eye yesterday.           Technorati Tags: new, products, Apple, iPhone, iPhone photosBookmark to:

Global Warming is like boxer shorts
2007-01-11 10:41:02
For the record, I think that Global War ming is a problem and there needs to be an uber team of scientists working for a fix. Off the record, I don’t think Global Warming is accelerating as fast as everyone claims. There are countless sites across the internet providing examples on how this is the warmest winter in history…blah blah blah. Don’t try to impress me with your facts and solid logic. I live in Chicago and I can walk around with only a light jacket because it is 50 degrees outside. However, I also remember almost freezing to death trying to cross a street just year ago. And the year before that it basically snowed every day all the way through March. Some called it a bad winter; I called it constant penile shrinkage. Global Warming is a gradual process like my hatred towards the bunching of my boxers. At first you play it cool and try to pretend it doesn’t bother you. Eventually, you freak out and jam your hands down your pants to fix the problem. I ...

The web?s best defense against exercising
2007-01-11 10:41:02
With so many resources geared towards wasting time there is no need to ever leave the comfort of your own home. Here is the web’s best defense against exercising. Popurls: An invitation to a mass orgy of Social bookmarking. What Would Tyler Durden Do: It?s a spin off of What Would Jesus Do. Get it? The Superficial: You might be ugly but at least you have a great personality?oh wait. Fark: I for one would like to welcome our new farking overlords. EVERYBODY PANIC and Duke still sucks. YouTube: Let’s make a video of Japanese kids lip syncing to Britney Spears and a fat kid twirling with a light-saber. Digg: I have to give them props for being able to waste years off a person’s life. The Best Page in the Universe: The founder of modern day blogging. Don’t worry he’s going to update tomorrow. Go postal on Digg
2007-01-11 10:41:02
Here are two more suggestions on how to post to Digg , even if your site has been banned. To read the original suggestion click here. Submitted by: Paula Mooney You can get around the Digg.com ban by also using sites that let you publish articles immediately and provide each new piece with a unique domain name. And you can still promote your banned blog on sites like that. Submitted by: Adviceman Another solution (only because Digg gets on my nerves): No need for a new hosting or HTTP redirects. Get a free hosting account on any free host of the web and upload a page with a javascript redirect to your site/article: http://www.tizag.com/javascriptT/javascri ptredirect.php. You can use the direct redirect or the delayed redirect if you want the page to display something before the redirect happens. Since it is not an HTTP redirect Digg has no way to tell the page is being redirected. Technorati Tags: suggestions, Digg, banned, domain, freeBookmark to:

How to post to Digg even if your site is banned
2007-01-11 10:41:02
A couple of weeks ago my site was banned from Digg . I have written several emails trying to resolve the issue with Digg but I have had little luck. I have scanned the internet and I have found that there are many other sites that have had the same problem. Just to name a handful: Alan Lewis John Chow Paula Mooney Paul Stamatiou Rock My Monkey Connected Internet Squidoo Digital Point Thoughts on VoIP You Gotta See This It seems that Digg is becoming a harsh place, which was most noticeably pointed out in the article, Digg “Hooligans” Take Over Website. This article alone has generated over 700 diggs.  I wanted to point out that even if you site gets banned from Digg (which is happening to more and more sites) there is a way to get around it. Below are instructions on how to submit a post to Digg, even if your URL is blocked. (Note: I use DreamHost as my hosting service. The directions might be a little off if you use something different; however, the concept is still th...

Cingular: Lowering the Bar
2007-01-11 10:41:02
Cingular wireless has the absolute worst customer service for any company…ever. I came to this conclusion after much Cingular induced anguish and turmoil. I have always used another wireless carrier but my company started to offer deep discounts with Cingular. Five months ago, I purchased a BlackBerry from Cingular. When I called to activate my device I was informed that they were experiencing technical difficulties and they could not activate it at this time. Cingular promised me that they would call me back in an hour to set it up. A couple of hours later (1 day to be exact) I still had not heard from Cingular and my BlackBerry still had not activated. I called Cingular again and I was promptly put on hold. I am not sure why I was on hold but I think the customer service representative was playing solitary. After being on hold for 20 minutes, Customer Service came back and expressed that they did not have a record of my purchase and that I would have to fax them a copy of my...

Guaranteed predications for 2007
2007-01-11 10:41:02
According to CNN, Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday that God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a “mass killing” late in 2007. “I’m not necessarily saying it’s going to be nuclear,” he said during his news-and-talk television show “The 700 Club” on the Christian Broadcasting Network. The Lord didn’t say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.” Over the years Pat Robinson has made many predictions. In January 2004 he claimed that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush did end up winning the election but only with 51 percent of the vote. In 2005, he predicted that Bush would sweep with countless victories in his presidential office, including Social Security reform and approval of conservative judges. John Roberts and Samuel Alito were appointed to the Supreme Court but Social Security reform plans failed. Finally, Pat Robinson predicted that a t...

The hunt for Osama is just plain lazy
2007-01-11 10:41:02
There was an article posted on Yahoo a couple of weeks ago about a French documentary. According to the movie “French soldiers in Afghanistan had Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in their crosshairs — twice — but did not receive the order from their US commander to open fire, a French documentary reported.” If you would like to view the original article click here. Top French and US officials claim that the documentary is false. However, there is still a lot of speculation from the online community and the liberal press. I doubt that the US government is purposely trying not to capture Osama bin Laden. On the other hand, I am willing to accept that our priorities may not have been well thought out. As an American, it can be troubling that the capture of Osama bin Laden has been taking this long. I find it hard to choke down that one person has the resources and capabilities to elude the most powerful and over budgeted military in the world. We have all seen Ene...

Tara Conner the current Miss USA is a hero among men
2006-12-27 10:33:01
It has been recently reported that the current Miss USA (Tara Conner ) may lose her crown. According to Yahoo news ?Eight months into her reign, Tara Conner was to be sent packing because of conduct deemed unbecoming a beauty queen, amid numerous reports ? most recently in the New York Post tabloid Monday ? of ?drinking, drugging and sexual adventures.? I have decided that as soon as you become famous it is absolutely necessary that you do everything in your power to make sure that you let your status go to your head. As a celebrity it is too much of a hassle to have morals, standards and ethics. Why should you bother to have respect for yourself or for the people around you? It is not like anything matters anyways. We can only progress as a society if we live for today and not tomorrow. It makes me sick how people can help, care and loving each other. Don?t these people know that they can never advance their own lives unless they live only for themselves? It is a tragedy that Tara C...

Christmas cheer complete with Long-haired Peruvian Guinea Pi
2006-12-27 10:33:01
Christmas shopping is stressful and rarely turns out the way I hope. My annual Christmas tradition involves me frantically shopping for everyone on my Christmas list a week too late. Sure, I could have done my shopping earlier but that would have made my life way too easy. When I shop I find myself gazing lifelessly at the shelves. It does not matter what I buy because the person receiving the gift never appreciates it anyways. I am quick to anger because I try to manage my money and the holidays are a sure-fire guarantee that I will ruin my budget. During the Christmas season we are all reminded, mostly by the media, of the main character in Charles Dickens’s novel, A Christmas Carol. Shopping is a battle for me because I do not want to spend too much money but I also don’t want to be a Scrooge. The novel, A Christmas Carol, came out in 1843 and it has managed to ingrain itself in our culture. The American capitalist economy embraced the novel with open arms because it ...

Update: Hacked!
2006-12-27 10:33:01
Yesterday evening, my website was hacked. It was nothing too devastating but it sure was annoying. I have been able to repair most of the sites layout and I was able to repost all of the content. It will take some time for me to notice the small layout imperfections that need repairing. The main loss to my site was the comments. I will admit for the amount of readers that I get the comments were surprising small. However, I was proud of the few comments that I did have and now it will be hard to retrieve them. What can I say, I am a sentimental guy. Technorati Tags: website, hackedBookmark to:

Survivor Cook Islands, the race war begin
2006-12-27 10:33:01
I am usually not a huge fan of the reality TV show Survivor . I have always prided myself on having better things to do then watch a pack of crazy hobos with out of control facial/leg hair demonstrate why it is important to use sunscreen. I personally have never understood the value of sunscreen, until I saw how the entire Survivor cast has skin like an old Baseball mitt. However, the new 13th season, Survivor Cook Island s, looks like it could be promising. The twist this season is that the twenty castaways will be divided along racial lines ? Caucasian, African-American, Asian-American and Hispanic. Finally, the human race will be able to decide once and for all, which race is superior. At first glance, you might expect that the athletically dominate race would prevail, but that is when the twist comes in to play. In order to win Survivor you have to better at lying, cheating, manipulation, enduring prolonged sun exposure, solving puzzles, and being able to deal with sand in odd ori...

Too harsh with Miss USA?
2006-12-27 10:33:01
Yesterday I wrote a post about Tara Conner the current Miss USA and I have received a couple of emails accusing me of being too harsh. I think that the one comment posted by lsg sums up the emails nicely. ?Tara Conner, you?re still #1 with me?We finally get a real Miss USA, you know, one that we can all identify with, and she gets canned?? I do not feel that Tara Conner has committed a crime and I know that her behavior could be considered mild if you compared it to the average college freshmen. Tara Conner?s biggest fault is that she has proven to be another terrible roll model. Today it seems that there are few people that mange to achieve fame and can actually impact in positive ways. Should celebrities be more cautious of their behavior because they are famous and their actions have more impact on others? One side of the story is that a celebrity is a person like everyone else and should be allowed to live their life as they choose. The other side of the story is that the mass p...

Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton blended for perfection?
2006-12-18 22:30:04
There is a lot of chatter in the press these days about Hilary Clint on and Barack Obama . Both are strong controversial leaders that have the charisma and influence to have a legit shot at the Whitehouse. If either candidate runs and actually wins it would be monumental for civil rights and for the progression towards a more diverse government. The big speculation these days is the possibility of a Clinton and Obama ticket. It would be the merger of two Titians in the political sphere mashing together to create a gooey ball of presidential power. I have mixed opinions about the Clinton/Obama ticket because I feel that both have done little to gain the amount of popularity that had been given to them. Hilary Clinton is educated and aggressive and I feel that she tries to push her personal agenda instead of trying to help the people she is serving. However, there is little doubt that Hilary would be a better president then George Bush. It is obvious that Hilary has the capacity to do ...
The legend that is Oliver Stone
2006-12-18 22:30:04
Who is Oliver Stone ? The only reason why I bring this up is because some readers have brought it to my attention that there is a Hollywood film director also known as Oliver Stone. I am sure that he has done many good things with his life and we can all love him for it. However, it can be annoying at times to have the same name as a celebrity. I am glad that he is not Britney Spears famous because then it would be extremely taxing. I think that this situation is similar to the classic Office Space quote. Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It’s not that hard: Nayee-Nanajar. Nayeenanajar. Michael Bolton: Yeah, well, at least you’re name isn’t Michael Bolton. Samir: You know, there’s nothing wrong with that name. Michael Bolton: There WAS nothing wrong with it. Until I was about 12 years old, and that no-talent-ass-clown because famous and started winning Grammys. Samir: Why don’t you just go by Mike, instead of Michael? Michae...

An answer to oil or wishful thinking
2006-12-18 22:30:04
I got a comment the other day on my post “Flying car to dump on TSA.” It was an extremely well thought out response and I thought that it was worth posting for the world to see. It is a little long and there is little to no humor in it, but I still think it is worth checking out. I am not sure what I think about his comment but the concept is interesting. He might be a few crayons short of a full box or he could be the next Einstein, Newton or Oliver Stone… Comment by Donald J Engel I?ll tell you where your flying cars are? You already know where they aren?t? They?re in my 14 cases of 75-thousand pages of notes? That?s where they have always been, since 1978? Now I?m beginning to understand why my project has and is being so stifled? I read in a blog, that Bush recently legislated ?under the counter?, that Americans are banned from developing engines and powersources which might obsolete Oil consumption? What?s with that guy?? Is he hellbent on tossing all of us ba...

Flying car to dump on TSA
2006-12-18 22:30:04
The other day I met a man that is developing a flying car. The car is called the FSC-1 and it is a hybrid between a car and a plane. The inventor of the plane has been working with NASA for over a decade and he really knows his stuff. According to his website, “the FSC-1 will obviously save time when considering the amount of time to drive or fly commercial airlines in this day of baggage delays and time consuming security checks, and rental cars. However, the FSC-1 means much more than that. The FSC-1 saves lives. It was reported by the FAA that 91% of air accidents in 2005 were related to bad weather. The primary reason pilots attempt to fly in bad weather is the belief that they have no other choice but to try ? ?I?ve-got-to-get-there-itis?. The FSC-1 changes the entire story. The FSC-1 is all about giving you choices! When the weather at the destination is unfavorable, you can simply land nearby and drive.” I realize that there have been other “flying cars̶...

Classically trained: An opinion of Nintendo Wii
2006-12-18 22:30:04
Nintendo’s Wii has been getting a lot of attention lately in the press and in the blogs. I have heard both sides of the argument. In my opinion, Sony has been the master of the game console and I will be forever loyal to it. I will admit that as I have grown older I have not kept up with my gaming roots as much as some of my peers but I am confident that I could still game with the best of them. When Nintendo released the Game Cube I was turned off by the fact that it was geared towards the younger generation. I am a product of the video game era and I felt betrayed that Nintendo would blatantly shy away from the group that grew up with them. The first system that I owned was the original Nintendo and I followed with the SuperNes and 64. The 64 was a stopping point for me because I felt that the Playstation and Playstation 2 was a better fit for my age. Sony had more mature titles and less spastic colors. The Playstation addressed the needs of older gamers while Nintendo was ...

50 ways to get your Man Card revoked
2006-12-18 22:30:04
A “Man Card ” is an ID badge that is given to every boy when he reaches manhood status which is around the age of 15. The Man Card is a symbol of utter manliness and it is the responsibility of its holder to guard it with his life. It is also the duty of every card holder to revoke the Man Card of another man if he witnesses any of these violations. 1. Sharing your thoughts and feeling openly 2. Sitting down to piss 3. Refusing to cook outdoors 4. Wearing Capri pants 5. Ordering a salad for lunch 6. Letting your son take dancing lessons 7. Asking for directions 8. Not pumping the gas 9. Letting your wife or girlfriend drive 10. Wearing a scarf indoors 11. Owning a dog that is less than 5 pounds and is not a puppy 12. Giving a weak handshake 13. Not holding doors for a women 14. Being afraid to drive in the snow 15. Using makeup of any kind 16. Giving your wife or girlfriend a “side hug” 17. Lifting your leg while you kiss 18. Wearing Pajamas to bed (real men j...

Weekend posting
2006-12-18 22:30:04
I noticed that my RSS subscribers drop over the weekends. It has occurred to me that it is a good time to state my policy on weekend postings. The short story is that I am not a fan of posting on Saturdays and Sundays. I work pretty hard throughout the week and the weekends should are considered sacred me time. If I do not take a couple of days to rest and regenerate the quality of my work suffers. There are countless bloggers that post five times a day, seven days a week, including holidays. I can not do this is because I enjoy the finer thing in life like personal hygiene, real friends, non-microwave food, and long walks on the beach. Contest: Submit the best dumb law and win a prize
2006-12-18 22:30:04
I have decided that I am going to hold a random contest. After yesterdays post I started thinking about all of the dumb laws that are in effect today. What law do you think is pointless, demeaning, or frustrating? I will pick out the one that pleases me the most and he/she will be awarded 1 pound of Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend Ground Coffee, which will include free shipping in the continental US. Sorry Europe, I am not a millionaire and it is too expensive to ship there. I know this is not a great prize, but it?s a free bag of unopened coffee, so stop complaining. Please send an email with your submission to admin@redonka.com.The winner will be announced at the end of the month. For example the law that bothers me the most involves airport security and how it is illegal to have liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on bags, unless they meet some ridiculous criteria. This law makes no sense for a thousand different reasons, which I will get into in my next post. The official la...
