Great Site For Booklovers!

www.librarything.com is a brand new database where you can register for free and add up to 200 books in your personal library. The site is a great vista for booklovers, critics and a way to find a new book to read in the light of your former reading. What's more librarything enables you to connect to many worldwide libraries' databases and search for books in other languages. Turkish is one of them. Up until now only the Bilkent University Library has added its database to the system but I think with the growing number of interest in the project it will be one of the largest library database of the world.

Oscar for Pan's Labyrinth or El Laberinto del Fauno

Best Fantasy of the past decade! says a commentetor. That's really what I first thought when I watched the film. In a two hour story Guillermo del Toro, the writer and director of Pan's Labyrinth surpasses even the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Maybe some fans of Tolkien would be offended by what I say, but Ofelia's journey has a more intense effect on the audience than the Hobbit's journey. The writer gave the real World War II Spain along with the magical world of the little girl. It is more than a dream world or an imaginative realm. Pan's Labyrinth is the pain, the hope and the peace all merged in one movie. The musics and the scenes are a feast as well. I have watched many fantasy movies but by far this is the best and had the most effect on me.Hope it takes the Oscar s!!By the way it took 8.5 in IMDB ratings...:http://imdb.com/title/tt045743 0/

Three Must-watches : Devil Wears Prada, In Her Shoes, The Lake House

In a way Hollywood also got it right sometimes in romantic-comedies and dramas. I liked the way Devil Wears Prada starring Merly Streep and Anna Hathaway deals with the ups and downs of fashion and a world where femininity is an established pattern put onto you. I think the film got its own virtues when comparing to the bestseller book written by Lauren Weisberger. A must watch for a conscientious fashion-bug!In Her Shoes starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette (which I think did a good job), though having some problematic scenes, shows how a all-in- the-air party girl Diaz ends up in long unknown grandmothers house and discovers her own ability to help others. The film seems to have two parts. At the beginning we see two sisters Diaz and Toni in conflict. We see a family torn apart until when the grandmother Shirley Maclaine comes to the scene. Belki uzak gibi görünse de Desperate Housewives gibi dizilerin bile artık video oyunları çıkmış zamanımızda video oyunlarına film yazarları aranıyor. Teknolojinin açtığı bir başka kulvar da bu olsa gerek. Desperate Housewives dizisini oyuna uyarlayan Scott Sanford Tobis video oyunlarının dizi yazarlığından daha bile eğlenceli olabiliceğini vurguluyor. Postmodern dünyanın edebi yansıması olarak düşünebiliceğimiz bu ortam size olayları tek bir yolla değilde bir çok farklı yollarla çözüme ulaştırabilmenin kapılarını açıyor. Yaklasik 10 dakika icinde mayanin kabarmasi lazim. Kabarmazsa maya sizlere omur demektir, taze bir paketle deneyin.Mayali sekerli suyu, yagi, tuzu, yogurdu ve unu karistirip usanmadan yogurun. I have recently read Robert Harris' Pompeii, a brilliant historical novel that passes during the time of the Roman Empire and just before the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius (that famous event that is still remembered with the burnt to death bodies of people found under the centuries old lava deposits in Pompeii, Italy). More than anything it is a great summer read, anyone who liked the movie Gladiator will like this book as well. The author used historical facts and the 78 AD Herculaneum, Pompeii Roman cities.---The Bottom Line---It is a retelling of the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius from the perspective of an ancient aqueduct engineer.It is a carefully researched modern thriller set in August A.D. 79 in Campania.
