Future
2008-05-14 21:05:00
There are few things you do not likeFew things you wish never happenedIn spite of all this, you still live through themDoes it not mean -"Someone" knew you could go through all that?Have you ever wondered -The reason behind all that happenedAnd all that still continues to happen?Or do you just sitHope and wish it should have not happenedFor you feel, you did not deserveEven a fraction of whatever went wrong?Who are you, by the way?To complain and decide -How things should have been andHow should they have not been?If at all, you wish to thinkWhy not sit, sip some coffee and wonderWhat can I do?How can I change all that is happening? How can I make things happen for the better? Why live in the pastWhen you can shape up the future?

What Do You Do?
2008-05-09 23:12:00
What do you do, whenThe message you wish to convey, is misinterpreted? What do you do, whenYour care, concern and love, seems intrusion? What do you do, whenYou wish to cry a hundred tears, but you have to smile? What do you do, whenYou cannot ask a straightforward question, because it might hurt? What do you do, whenYou wish things to change for the better, beyond everything else?

I want it back, which once was mineSitting on the wings of which, I'd fly highEvery step taken added smile to my face,The one which made me say, "Oh yes! I can do it!"Give it back to me,Search it for me, please. It's been playing hide and seek with me,Since past few days.Bring it back to me,So that I can embrace it yet again,So that yet again I can soar like a bird -Whose little wings have been finally healed.Search for me,Help me bring it back,I know it's just around the corner,Help me walk to it.Let's go and find my self-confidence!Update: I have found it!
Twenty Years Later ...
2008-04-30 21:22:00
This is my first attempt at writing something humorous, so please ....LAUGH!Those who know about "K" queen Ekta Kapoor would be able to enjoy the twenty year jump in this story :)Once upon a time there was a boy and there was a girl. They went to school together. They were best of friends and everybody envied their friendship. Kunal used to pull Kirti's pigtail but still she used to do his homework for him. One day while they were playing in the school playground Kunal pushed Kirti to put the ball in the basket of the girl’s team and Kirti fell down and the nearby half-broken fence tore down the flesh of the her thigh and she started crying. Forgetting about the basket Kunal ran towards her, tried to pick her up but fell down because he did not have muscles then. He ran to call the teacher and by the time teacher arrived Kirti was nowhere to be seen. Later on Kunal came to know that the strongest boy in the class, Kabir had picked her up and taken her to the doctor. At that time ...

Screaming Silence - The Silent Road (11)
2008-04-28 23:34:00
Why is that the humming sound of the air conditionerSounds so disturbing to my earsWhy is that even though no one's speakingI hear loud voices all around?Perhaps, it is because of my state of mindBecause I am disturbed,The silence seems to be screaming in my ears.Wish I could scream in silence tooSit next to some strangerAnd pour out my feelings,Without the fear of being judged. But that is not how I am,I am so very used to keeping it to myselfJust like the silent roadThat sees so much, goes through so muchYet it keeps all the secrets to itselfThe Silent road, just like meSpends time alone, perhaps it thinks tooOf the day to come,Of what it would hear, see and feel the next dayI, just like the silent roadSee things happening, helplesslyNot knowing how to change what is happening

When Past Meets Present - 4

When Past Meets Present - 1 | When Past Meets Present - 2 | When Past Meets Present - 3It was late night when mother and son returned home. Alan went to bed as soon as they were home and Sally listened to the telephone messages. There was a message from Roger saying that he was coming back after two days and he wanted to talk to her. Sally redialed the number but it was switched off. Obviously Roger had called from his mobile and not from his hotel phone. Talking would have to wait, she decided.Sally walked towards Alan’s room, shook her head and walked back to her room. She changed into her nightgown and was lying awake in her bed when there was a knock on the door. Sally propped up on her elbow and said “Come in”Alan stepped inside and walked to her bed. Sally got up and asked him what was wrong?“Nothing”, Alan replied“Just wanted to wish you good night … mom”Sally wrapped her arms around him and kissed him on his cheek“Good night my son”Alan was about to walk ...

When Past Meets Present - 1 | When Past Meets Present - 2Sally was standing at the window of her room when they had returned late at night and as she saw them kissing in the car she turned around and pulled the curtains. That night Suzanne and Sally talked about the dance. This was not the first time Suzanne had gone out with a guy but this was the first time she was so happy. According to what Suzanne told her, Sally knew that it was Roger’s first date. He had seen her at a friend’s place and had asked her for the dance. That night Suzanne and Sally danced in their room, each of them imagining that they were dancing with Roger.Alan rubbed his eyes as he woke up and found Sally lost in thoughts. “Sally”Sally returned to the present“I am hungry”They both got up and had their dinner. Then they spent some time playing cards. When it was late, Alan walked to his room while Sally cleaned the plates. When Sally finished her work she walked to Alan’s room and tucked him properly...

When Past Meets Present - 1Today, one year to his mother’s death he was back in the arms of the woman who had cared for him like he was her own child. Even when Suzanne was around, Alan had slept in Sally’s arms as his parents slept together in their bedroom. Alan slept hiding his face in Sally’s bosom because he was scared of the shadows outside his room. But that did not mean that he did not love Suzanne. How could he not love her? She was his mother! She had given birth to him, she had fed him, taught him to walk, and she had spent sleepless nights when he was sick. Sally was there for him whenever she was around but his mother was always around.Alan did not realize that Sally was staring at him“What’s wrong?” she asked“Nothing” Alan said and walked to his bed. He sat on the bed and removed his shoes. “Already missing dad?” she asked walking towards the bed. She bent down and kissed his head.“What do we have on the cards today?” he asked her.He knew Sally ...
When Past Meets Present
2008-04-03 22:36:00
People say the past can never be a part of the present and she believed it to be true until her past silently crept in her present and filled her deserted life with blossoms of love. Now the only question left to be answered was whether the past along with the present could make its way into the future?Or her future would push back the past to where it came from - the abyss of her heart.Prologue:One cold winter night a small boy entered a hospital room, his face stained with dried tears. His friends had told him that his mother would not be with him for his tenth birthday and he had punched them all but today as he entered the room and glanced at the thin figure lying on the bed he knew they were right. It was too much for him to see his mother suffering and dying in front of him. He wanted it all to be a bad dream and wake up in the arms of his mother. As he moved closer to the bed he was unaware that the truth, which was going to be revealed, would be more shocking than he could ev...

Cobwebs Of The Mind - 1 | Cobwebs Of The Mind - 2Vishakha started talking to him in slow tone. She told him about the accident that had killed Ajay and Tanya. She told him about the impact it had on her mind. She was weeping uncontrollably when she told him how the accident had happened. Vishaal looked at her with disbelief! Finally he walked to her and embraced her. He was stroking her hair when the doorbell rang. Vishaal got up and opened the door. Sneha’s voice echoed as soon as the door was opened. All of a sudden Sneha stood still, looking at her mother who was still crying. She was unable to understand what was happening, she just ran towards Vishakha and started crying as Vishakha took her in arms. Vishaal stood at the door for some time watching them and then silently left.Back in his study, Vishaal opened the diary and noted down the happenings of the day. He could not believe what Vishakha had told him. She had confessed that the accident, which killed Ajay and Tanya, wa...

Cobwebs Of The Mind - 1As Vishakha changed into her nightgown she thought about Vishaal and a smiled crossed her face. Her reverie was broken by her daughter’s voice boomeranging in the room. Vishakha turned around as she buttoned her gown and almost immediately the 6 year old monster leaped on her. The mother and the daughter tightly hugged each other for some time and the little girl started talking. Sneha’s life was restricted to her mother and grandparents. She was an introvert and the death of her father had further enveloped her in her own world. But when she was with her mother she was energetic as ever! Vishakha put Sneha on the bed and stroked her hair. Love for her daughter shone brightly in Vishakha’s eyes. Vishakha made her sleep and kissed her goodnight. Almost immediately Sneha drifted into sweet slumber. After her husband’s death Sneha was the only joy left in Vishakha’s life. Vishakha’s parents cared for her but Ajay’s death had left a strange impact on...

Artwork by Vatsal, inspired by this post. She watched him silently from a distance as he continued smoking cigarettes one after the other using the finishing one to lit the next. He was obviously under some kind of stress. Was he meant to be her next patient? Even though there were many troubled men on the street and she was not the kind of doctor to search for patients on the road, when she saw this man she was inclined to take a peek in his mind. She was a well-known psychiatrist and was on one of her relaxing strolls though she was not aware that it would change her life forever. She was a contented person with caring parents and a lovable daughter but in the past few days stress was taking its toll. When she saw the man sitting there on the rock she immediately felt connected for reasons not known to her. She was tempted to go and talk to him but finally decided against it because knew herself that she would not like it if someone intruded her privacy. She walked away.On reaching...

Where From Here? - 1 | Where From Here? - 2 | Where From Here? - 3Days turned to months and months to years. I completed my management course and took up a job. Initially David was against my decision but later on he gave his consent. Slowly our time together started becoming less. Our long drives were of shorter duration and came at longer intervals. Our quarrels started finding their way to the bedroom and into the bed. Though David never again slept on the couch, he slept on the same bed as I was some stranger for him. I yearned for his touch but he did not care. At times, mornings were without breakfast and when David was out of the city he failed to call me up every night. I tried to bury my mind in the books but the ache in the heart was increasing day by day. The sand was definitely slipping from the hand. One night when I tried calling David in the hotel he was supposed to stay I was told that he was not in the room. I wondered where he must be so late at night. When David re...

Where From Here? - 1 | Where From Here? - 2The next few days I bunked college and attended to the needs of David. I cooked for him, sponged him and gave medicines. As days went by he started feeling better and one day when I walked out of the house, my prince charming was there waiting for me, just that he was not on a horse. I got into the cab and he dropped me at college. I asked him to meet me after college. I had decided to talk to him. I called up at home from college saying that I was going to stay over at Catherine’s place and requested her to back up the plan. David drove to the place where we had first kissed. The moment we got out of the cab David proposed marriage and I said yes. We said our words of promises and kissed under the moonlight. That night we spent time doing more important things than love making. The little things that made us feel special. We held each other in arms as if slightest distance would kill us. We kissed each other as if it was the oxygen to ke...

Where From Here? - 1The next two days I had to stay back home because dad did not allow me to go to the college and also because the ankle was still hurting but the trick had worked on mom. She developed a soft corner for me because of it and tried to convince dad on my behalf. My apologies and mom’s persistent nagging finally made dad give up his firmness and I was allowed to go to the college. The first day out of the house was beginning of my new life. As I was walking towards the bus-stop I saw the cab, which had given me company on the worst day of my life. He opened the door with a smile and asked me to hop in. I smiled and got in. Today I had enough cash to pay for today as well as for that day. I told him the name of my college and he started driving. I looked at him through the mirror and at almost at the same time he looked at me. “I am sorry for that day”, I said to him. He just shook his head and said it was fine. Then he asked me about parent’s reaction and by t...

The little things in life are what matter most. They come for free and perhaps that is the reason we do not realize their importance. But when they begin to slip out of our hands like sand we realize what we are losing and then we tighten the grip, further squeezing the sand out of the hand at a quicker rate. The sand slips out and what remains in our sweating palms is just a few grains in the form of memories. We try to clean off our hands the remaining grains but they are adamant, they do not leave as easily as the rest of the sand that slipped away. Memories remain with us for a longer time than the actual moment, which we desperately wish has not gone by. We want it to come back to us, but it won’t come. We look at our hands, the grains still sticking and a tear drop falls, wetting the sand and fixing the grains further. My life story is somewhat similar. I let the little things slip out like sand. Today I am going to share my little secret with you. Perhaps after reading this ...

She was an old friend; long treasured in the scrapbooks of life… yellowed over the tides of time. But seeing her, I was stunned. I met her after days, or was it years? She looked so different! Her eyes sunk deep into the sockets as if something was sucking them in. Her once inflated cheeks were flat as a balloon pierced with a pin. The ‘pin’ of fate, perhaps. The place where we met and the circumstances made it difficult for me to stand and talk to her. I had gone for a movie with Vishaal and there she was standing at the multiplex gate waiting for her husband to join her. We exchanged a few words and as Vishaal walked inside after showing our tickets, I quickly gave her my visiting card. My sixth sense told me that perhaps we wouldn’t be meeting inside the theatre. As the automated stairs glided up, I looked back at her. It seemed as if she really wanted to talk or she would have looked outside, as she was waiting for her husband to come. But the unspoken words were lost in ...

Words are lost somewhere,I do not want to search for them eitherI know I won't need themWhen finally the time comesI can simply look into your eyesAnd believe that you would know...Why things are the way they areAnd why we can never be together.I know,You are aware of how I feel for youI know,You would understandI know,You would let me go when I turn aroundAnd not call my name ever againI promise, I will not turn around eitherI would not embarrass you by letting you knowThat I know you would shed a tear when I leaveI would not embarrass myself eitherBy looking at you and letting myself knowThat I could never love you the way you do.
